Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

    Can anybody shed some light on the Anthro 15% birthday discount? I received the coupon in the mail the other day but it states the discount applies in store only. However, I am nowhere near a store. Could this apply if I did a charge-send? It doesn't seem like I'd be able to use it online (the only way I've shopped Anthro in the past). I'd like to be able to use the discount without taking a day trip. Thanks!

    PS - I've also receieved a birthday discount from Talbots. How about getting on the ball, JC? ;)

    Target has some Leopard-Print Ballet Flats on the website. The uppers are REAL hair-calf while the remainder of the shoe is man-made. But for $25 vs. $250, they might be worth a look!

    I don't know if this is common knowledge, but us.purecollection.com has great sweaters--much better quality than J Crew for comparable prices. If you sign up for their emails, they frequently send 20% off codes.

    Any JCA's know where I can find a good leopard print scarf preferably in wool fabric? I saw the JC one at the store yesterday but it was too thin and cheap looking with the stitching on the sides. TIA!

    @silver_lining Yes the store-only discount would apply if you do a charge/send. You can also contact community@anthropologie.com to request an online discount, though it is not guaranteed.

    Two shoe reviews:
    LLBean Harvest Wedges
    These are great if you're liking the penny loafer but can't go too flat. The leather is beautiful, construction looks great (Made in Brazil), and I'd say they are TTS. There is some cushioning in the sole so they're comfortable to walk in.

    LLBean Signature Leather High Heel Boot
    Again, gorgeous leather, great construction (also Made in Brazil), Saddle color is very pretty. I like the pull-on style as well. However, I have thin calves and these are just a bit big at the top for me. I'd say if you're an extended calf at JC you may want to give these a try - they're a great price and very well made (probably more so than JC's $350 Booker boots).

    Plus, LLBean and LLBS do free shipping on all orders (no minimum), so what do you have to lose? Especially if you live near a store - super easy returns!

    I have to rave about Talbots shoes. I got 3 pairs of kitten heels when they were $29.99 and they were all success. Fit me well in the same zie as J crew, soft leather and super comfortable. This week I also got a pair of yellow stingray slingbacks and I love them. Great alternative for JC Valentinas and less that half the price (I got them with 20% off and free shipping).

    Gigi- I used the 026365614 code on an order of just sale items and I was able to get free shipping, but not the 20% off. I even called CS and they told me that since the sale items are already an extra 50% off the other promo couldn't be applied. Odd, because the July code for 20% off worked just fine on sale items. Maybe some new policy?
    Did you get the code to work on the sale items?

    egyptomaniac - Yes, the code worked on a mock checkout of the washed silk skirt, which is on sale. That was yesterday, Thu. I only tried the one mock checkout. Odd.

    Anthro online will honor the birthday discount! Just place the order, then e-mail the customer service with your order number and ask for the discount. They've done it for me the past two years.

    I have a few pieces from the Lands End Canvas line at Sears...similar to J.Crew's style, but not as expensive =) I was very surprised at the first time I saw the line last fall. I believe Lands End Canvas caters to a younger crowd versus the regular Lands End line.
