Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Aw, much to tired to shop this weekend! Took Thursday off to go through closet, and was shocked at how I had neglected my cherished JC pieces. And so it began: I lovingly hand-washed 5 cashmere sweaters so they wouldn't stretch or snag at dry cleaner, daintily spread them out to dry on soft towels, then gently hand-washed 8 tees so they wouldn't get holes or weak spots, carefully spread them out to dry on more soft towels; hand-washed 5 pairs of tights so they wouldn't get runs, fastidiously hung them to dry over bathtub; then reinforced stitching of zippers on 3 pairs of pants and restitched the buttons on 2 jackets & a trench, and carefully hand-pressed rayon partial lining on 4 camis (would be easier just to snip out linings, but silk is so thin). Reattached pleated trim to shirt with tiny affectionate stitches. Steamed velvet-like garment while ironing, hmm, not a good idea, many more crinkles than I started with. Wanted to lie down but sweaters are spread all over bed, and hot bath or shower is out of question because of hanging laundry and lack of towels. Gee, I wish I was allowed to at least look at merchandise in other stores. Oh, maybe I will run to drugstore to pick up arch supports and heel liners to make shoes bearable, I mean wearable. And get new blade for sweater razor to be ready when cashmeres finally dry. All this wardrobe care may sound a bit obsessive, but at least I know I'm being true to the loyalty oath I took when I got my JC credit card, and that makes it all just effortless. Hmm, bed is kind of dampish.

  4. With the 30% off at the Gap and BR, I think I will visit BR. I was there at lunch today and after work and posted a few pics on my blog. More to follow...

  5. The Palo Alto, CA store in the Stanford mall has a bunch of the Lace ruffle tanks (#30966) in the Irish Moss and Bright Coral colors on sale for $14.99. I also saw a few Infinity cardigans in a pretty turquoisey blue color. Besides that, the sale section was full of the same old ratty tees and some sad leftover sweaters. They had a ton of the new arrivals out, though, and everything was gorgeous! I'll be posting some pictures and reviews tomorrow morning.

  6. Oops, meant to say that the Infinity cardigans were marked down to $59.99

  7. Does anyone know how the J Crew velvet jackets hold up in the rain? Does the velvet spot?

    ta!

  8. OT: Interesting news...

J.Crew to Put Outlet Store Online to Attract Bargain-Hunters

    J. Crew Group Inc. (JCG) plans to let customers buy its outlet-store clothing online starting next month, making it easier to get its low-cost clothes at a time when consumers are counting every penny.

  9. Heading there is Saturday to make returns from Crewcuts. Will take a quick peak around to see if I see anything for my daughter but nothing for me most likely. Spent my $$$ at LE and Talbots:)

  10. Outlet store on line? Isn't that Final Sale?

  11. wff-I am sitting in my classroom waiting for students to arrive and laughing my head off (probably the only teacher in the school even smiling since it is pep rally day. Lol.)

    Rats-VERY interesting info. Thanks!

  12. There has been talk of putting the Crewlet online for years (back when they mostly sold overstock from previous seasons and not stuff specifically manufactured for the Crewlet). I'll be interested to see if this actually happens.

I may visit this weekend just to take a look around. I'd like to try the Glen Plaid Minnie pants on (and then wait for a promo).

  13. OT: With the 20% off FS items, I'm thinking about ordering a double serge stretch pencil skirt, but I need advice about sizing. Based on the measurements, it will be a little too long for me. Do you recommend ordering TTS and having it tailored or ordering a petite?
    Thanks!

  14. wff, LOL! You forgot to mention checking underarms of ts and sweaters for holes and then mending them. This regularly takes up at least 30-45 minutes of my week ;)

Yes, brand loyalty to JC is downright EXHAUSTING!!

  15. WFF - I almost choked on a cherry pit while reading your post. I have got to stop eating or drinking while reading yours stuff. Gee thanks...

I had to mend the placket on my Rose Vines shirt last night. It was cut so narrow that nearly 3 inches of it came unbound. Really, J Crew, you couldn't have splurged on that extra 1/4 inch of material to make sure that didn't happen? I also returned a Jena cardi that arrived with a bad snag in the back to the store yesterday and picked up an open merino cardi instead for $49.99. (I almost laughed when the SA said it was rare for anything to arrive damaged as this is the 5th defective or damaged item I have returned this year.) I came back and checked the site to snag the picture for Polyvore and it was $24.99 on there. So I ordered that color and another shade and will return my purchase from yesterday (I asked if it was final sale, and it was not). Now today, I see final sale is another 20% off. J Crew I love you, but today, I am mad at you. A nice 20% off code (off everything) would help or even a box of peaches. Heck, I'll settle for the tweed skirt I also ordered actually fitting and everything in my order being undamaged.

  16. Wff et al, couldn't agree more. Keeping Crew item - especially the recent tees and sweaters is an effective outlet for my obsessive compulsive side...and home ec skills...

Might go in for the pink pearl necklace and pilar perfect shirt or cami. Cant decide between those two. I have several perfect shirts so thought I should get the cami but the unfinished trim is going to drive me crazy when it starts to fray.

  17. @WFF, having a good LOL. More of my spare time than I would like goes to wardrobe maintenance.

    @Rats, that's great news--my crewlet is a 2 to 2.5 hour so I've never been there.

@Mommy dearest, to my surprise, the bigger ruffles on the Pilar cami, including the one that touches the neck, are finished. I wore mine for the first time yesterday and even though the Pilar has bra keepers IMO this one needs a racer back or X-back bra.

  18. @Tabitha, IME the velvet jackets don't spot (and I am in a climate with lots of drizzle). I have the 2007 Bella and the 2009 Eden. I use a clothesbrush on them to freshen them up. During my most recent wardrobe maintenance efforts a la Well Fed Fred, I did notice that the Bella is showing a fair amount of wear on the elbows, but at three years I guess that's not unreasonable.

  19. Checked the site this morning and am DYING over the stadium-cloth peacoat. Especially in the Nordic Blue. Please please please go on sale so I can feel better about such a fun color...

  20. I went yesterday but no extra % off. I saw a pair of ballet flats on sale online but still FP at store. I asked the SA to price match it and they said they will do it but will have to be FINAL SALE. No thank you. I will wait for it to go on regular sale and pick it up.

  21. Hexicon, Thank for that, I'm only ever minutes from rain here!

  22. The pink Rimini Cardigan (retail only) is on sale! It's now 59.99, down from 98.00. Yesss, waiting paid off! It's just the pink color though.

The store I went to today had some Merino Shirred Cardigans, Cascading Sequin Cardigans, and the Calista Cami on sale, all of which are online. Oh yeah, some work dresses too.

  23. Stopped by the B&M to make a couple returns and picked up the felted wool Tokyo mini in the new Dark Cypress (dark olive green) color. Not sure if I'll keep it. I also debated the new Vintage Bateau in the olive green as it's beautiful, but the new $42.50 price tag held me back :( It's so much more practical than an $88 olive skirt, but I don't want to buy it on priciple

  24. Adding to Rose's comment.
Got a super uber deal at Banana Republic yesterday; a black silk chiffon maxi dres with semi-sporty racerback neackline (I've been lusting after a maxi dress that dosn't look like I could have picked it up a the Groovy Blueberrie (A local hippi towns go to shop for all this tye dye and boho)) for $24 (used the 30% off)down from $150, and to my delight I had just dicovered an old gift card in a idle wallet! Sadly the young lady who helped me out at the register forgot to take the plastic alarm thingamagig off so I must go back to have it removed, but I'd say its worth it.

  25. Hexicon, thanks for the feedback on the Pilar cami! Apparently the shirt is now $30 - if the cami is too, I'll have to choose between them again :)

  26. Sorry (this might be old news) but I saw a few pearl cluster bib necklaces (31423) in pink for $69.99. Hangs too long for me, but I'm going to remove some links.

  27. Bah, why lie? If I am within a 25-mile radius of a Crew or Crewlet, I will be in there digging for treasures until my husband raises a fuss at me. LOL.

I was very sad last weekend to not be able to go to the Crewlet in Williamsburg, VA. So close, yet so far! It was only 20 mins out of our way! :-/ But couldn't chance it that we'd get stuck in traffic and be late picking up our pup at the vet.

My husband was snickering quietly in the driver's seat. Or maybe he was thanking god. Not sure. But I told him I'll collect at some point down the line. :-P

  28. Elaine you're not alone. Because I often travel for work and have lived in various parts of the country, I've been to Crews all over and I won't hesitate to go to several in the same metro area. I don't know why, maybe just a hobby.

  29. If any of you live near Charlottesville, VA, there is a regional warehouse clearance going on in the Seminole Square shopping center. I got a nice pair of boots for $50, and two cashmere sweaters in good shape for $30 each. I saw lots of pants, jackets, sweaters, and dresses...not so many shirts. I think it is going on through September 6, but I am not sure. Today it went from 10-8, but I don't know about weekend hours or anything.

  31. I recently went to the Paramus, NJ "concept store." Nothing I really had to have (and I walked through the store very carefully!). I did bite on the Arrow Sweater Jacket after a week of indecision re: color, and I am so glad I did. Amazing quality, nice and thick (love the big collar!) and a lovely addition for Fall. Can't wait to wear it!

  33. Oh I should note, I saw some amazing new necklaces on sale already at the Bellevue Sqaure store.

There was a Bow-tie Crystal Necklace in Dusty Blossom for 39.99 (orig $78), several Crystal Drops Necklaces for 49.99 (orig $98), and several Braided Chain-and-Pearl Necklaces for 59.99 (orig $118, online for $88).

I really wanted the Crystal Drops Necklace as it's absolutely goooorgeous, and super sparkly, but I've spent too much money on J. Crew necklaces lately and it might be too similar to stuff I already have.

Oh yeah, also some very nice work pants on sale in addition to the work dresses.

  34. beth, yours are my favorite kind of shopping trips, the kind where the stars align and you just keep finding things you like and can actually get them. I want to try on the cords, especially the champagne and cobblestone colors.

  35. Socialscientist, do you remember which color(s) Crystal Drops Necklaces were on sale? Thanks!

  36. Went to the Southpark store in Charlotte NC and came out completely underwhelmed. They had pulled out every item with sequins on it for display...everywhere I looked, there were sequins! The store was packed with merchandise but I just wandered around in a daze and couldn't find anything I was interested in trying on. I much prefer the simpler styling of my nearby Asheville store.

Has anyone seen the Tweed Fedora hat in their stores? Any thoughts on sizing?

  37. I visited the Georgetown DC store. The Pebble Jacquered skirt is gorgeous. I loved it but not for $169.00 so I held off.
Tried the Calista camis and didn't like them. I already own the Victoria and Frances camis and the cut on these is much prettier.
Also tried on the Cecilia Cami and Confetti ruffle cami and the material on these was too light and I felt wouldn't hold up well.

So I walked out with nothing. I do plan to buy the exhibitor pouchette in the future. Its a nice cross-body bag good for airports.

  38. mommydearest - Oops sorry, I'm kind of late here. They had the clear one on sale and two or three of them, I think. I meant to go back today to see if they were still there and pick one up but I didn't have time to. I hope they didn't run out...

  39. Thank you socialscientist. You are right -it is super sparkly! I picked up a clear one Sat but I'm not crazy about the color of the setting. Might ask my Ps if she can find me a pinky one on sale...did you end up getting one too?
