J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Silver Lining & Tracey G. (in this post), as well as Jordyn, Marietta, & Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had a mini-update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} Of course, Crewcuts got updated too (click here).

Although the J.Crew Collection (click here), as well as the latest catalog (click here to view), displays the same new arrivals for Fall from last time.

Too bad J.Crew didn't have time to fix some of the errors with the mini-roll out today. For example: the Product Short Desc - Please update at the product level (Item 32920; $18.00). ;)

But onto new arrivals... The Shimmering Paillette Vest (Item 28146; $148.00) is fabulous! Although, I don't have too many places (okay, I have none) I could wear that to. I am also loving the Bayberry Washed Wool Scarf (Item 19316; $59.50) in both the Dark Plum and Lilac versions. Definitely lovely items to wear in the Fall. :)

I see that the Cosabella® Cutie Lowrider Thong (Item 32427; $19.00) is now available for purchase online. As many of you have commented, this partnership item has been available in brick & mortar (B&M) stores for some time now.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I was hoping for a bigger rollout. I like one of the new merino cardigans and one of the silk camis, but I really need skirts instead, so I will pass on J Crew and look somewhere else for now.

Also, of the few items I really liked, I was disappointed to see only dingy colors. I don't want really bright shades, but something other than charcoal and olive would be nice.

  2. Looks like there's a new velvet jacket for those those disappointed with the Velvet Ruby Blazer! Unfortunately the colors aren't that colorful, but there is a nice warm green one for those with the green velvet fixation :).

  3. I'd like to try on the slouchy cashmere sweater as I like that style. Also, I like cropped suiting pants -ps, I don't wear them to work so I can wear them funky:)- and noticed that the cropped Super 120s now have belt loops (!!) and the pockets are curved so they may be more flattering on the hip. (the 2 reasons why I returned my last Super 120 cropped.)

  4. I'm not overwhelmed, but there are a few items that caught my eye.

-tulipe cami, although not the colors
-fountain cami, again couldn't they have made this in a color?
-zigzag ruffle top, but I don't need another ruffle tee :)
-perfect fit ruffled scoopneck tee, will need to try on b/c most perfect tees are too clingy for me
-arlyn cardi, but it's a horrid color for me
-shimmering pailette vest, but no where to wear it :)

That's it and I didn't add any of them to my cart. The only thing I did add was the girls' dottie dress.

  5. I can barely find anything new or interesting to click on in this rollout. So excited when I saw the felted wool mini but I was also hoping for some colors besides the tried and true bronzed twig, heather carbon, ivory and black. The skirt itself doesn't look nearly as nice as last year's bistro mini, which was thick, soft wool in such a cute flattering style I bought it in 2 colors. One of my favorite winter minis ever.

Similar story for the cord pencil skirt, I have the last year's cinnamon stick and dark eggplant colors and was hoping for more lively colors this year instead of the same old, same old. I guess it's a great opportunity for those who missed these "classics" from previous years.

So, what did I put into my cart? A couple of suiting dresses that I just haven't bought yet, a long-sleeve stretch perfect shirt, short icon trench (still on the fence whether this will hit in an awkward spot on me) and some solid tights. Boring, but that will probably be it for me with this rollout.

I briefly considered the wool-cashmere icon trench but I don't like all the seaming at the back, the wool-cashmere fabric isn't my favorite and my stadium-cloth boulevard trench from W09 is one that I will be wearing for years, so I'm covered.

pathos, I am with you on the need for belt loops. The superfine cotton pants from last year had none and I find I wear those pants for casual wear as a result. I really like my suit pants with a belt.

  6. There is literally nothing I want. J.Crew has really fallen off the wagon.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm with Em and Ashley.

Usually, even when I'm underwhelmed by the new arrivals online, I'll spot something in the store I MUST have. Well I've been to the store 2x in the past week and found nothing.

I'm also really upset that J.Crew has seemingly done away with the embellished crewneck cardigan. There were none offered during the summer and none in the fall selection either. Interesting that the crewneck tissue tee is also gone. I guess they weren't so popular (except with me)? My closet is suddenly full of skirts and I have no cardis to go with them!

  8. It's just laughable at this point. I use to hound the site. Now, I just don't care.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anyone think all the rewards, bonuses, press time, pats on the back from Mickey, have finally come down to this?

Over/Unders on when Jenna will resign to spending more time with her kid + hubby?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm with you, Em. Nothing I see does anything for me. But maybe I'll feel differently when I see things IRL?

Either way, no $19 undies for me. I get that they're the holy grail drawers for fashionistas everywhere, but I'll stick with my VS Lacies, most of which were only about $3 a pair on clearance. :-)

  11. I got excited about the new velvet jacket until I saw the color choices. I wanted an emerald green and the green it is offered in is awful--at least for my coloring, etc. (I know it will flatter other skin tones.) I was just hoping for other colors. I am glad I have my velvet Bella and 3 edens from last season. Just need a dark green and my velvet jacket collection would be complete. Maybe next year, JCrew.

  12. I saw the scarves in person that Alexis mentioned. I was disappointed in the color of them in person. They seemed "washed out" and I wanted a bit more instense color even in the blues.

I do like the new Valarian cardigan. I was hoping for a fall print cardigan but will wait for it to go on sale. I don't "need" it :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I like the style of some of the new silk tops, but when I click to see the colors, they are all so unappealing, wash-out/drab/dark so I end up not adding the item to my cart. Notably, some of the items from the 1st fall roll-out are already at promo prices.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I wasn't expecting a new rollout so early. I think they are killing themselves with these mini-rollouts and the stuff going on sale so quickly. I haven't metabolized the first rollout yet, and here it comes another one. I don't understand why they think that it is a good strategy not to let their customers the time to digest the catalog and think about what they really like, instead of quickly putting stuff on sale?

Anyway I was hoping to see a new cardigan that I saw yesterday in store. I think it's a dream blend and it was double-breasted (no buttons) with a very low opening. I saw it in the TDF color heather cobblestone and it retailed for $88. It looked very feminine and would look great with a nice drapey top like the Khloe (that I have preordered).
    Anybody saw this one?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I could not see the difference between yesterday and today it all looks the same to me uninspiring.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I am really, really hoping there will be a nubbly grey pencil skirt this season. I've already bought the charcoal double serge pencil skirt, but I know now what's been bugging me -- I want some texture and pattern for fall. So, if a tweedy one miraculously appears, the double serge will go back.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am completely uninterested in the new rollout.

It is so disappointing because I have always *loved* J.Crew's fall collections. Boo!

  19. I'm on Team Em, too, with Ashley & Dara. I don't have one new arrival in my cart. Yesterday I got fab parking not too far from J Crew and didn't visit, even with $150 in credit burning in my wallet.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Genny, I'm with you! I love the emerald green color of the Ruby jacket, but I know the shape wouldn't work on me. I was so excited to see the velvet schoolboy jacket, but alas, no deep green to be found...

I do really love the crushed jacquard pencil skirt. I saw it at my B&M the other day, and it's just gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Cliquot, have you tried the lace one (the one that retails for $178)? It's definitively grey (and textured) without beeing a tweed one.
By the way, thanks on the info on sizing on the cashmere crewneck in the other post. Now that I saw the dream cardigan in the heather cobblestone I don't know if I am going to buy it but it's good to know.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I browsed pretty quickly but I didn't see anything that I liked very much. I'd better pull the trigger on the seaport blue Banquette dress because that seems to be one of the few hits of the season.

One thing I'd really like to see: lightweight wool scarves in some really smashing fall prints--an autumn version of the great papaya and cotton candy watercolor print scarves we saw for spring. I saw the Bayberry prints but was hopin for something more special. The Valerian print in the cardi didn't work for me, so I hope that's not the only "it" print for fall.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Get e-mail, get excited, look at site, eyes glaze over. Can't distinguish the new from the old.

Am disappointed, wanting some pretty new fall things. Get excited, thinking that there will be deep discounts soon. Get disappointed again, realizing that I wouldn't buy anything even for $19.99.

Oh well. On to the next rollout or sneak peak next week.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love the new velvet school boy but can anyone comment on how this year's school boy fits versus last year's? It looks shorter necessitating ordering the tall I think. I really like the rich, earthy shades. Love the cotton/wool plaid scarves. I was just in a b&m and see they are having a 20% off socks if you buy three pair. They are gorgeous this year too.
Guessing the reason for smaller "roll outs" is the use of many different vendors with different delivery schedules. All fine by me--happy for new eye candy!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ema--think I saw that sweater yesterday. It is a pull over but with super-low, crossed (DB) opening and very drape-y. After hearing everyone's unhappiness with the dream fabric I was afraid to try it but it looks gorgeous and fun to wear.

    ReplyDelete
  26. gem twin, I have a schoolboy blazer from last year in heather carbon, and I tried the navy one on the other day in the same size, and that's what I would buy. haven't tried on the velvet one, but the regular schoolboy fits the same to me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The only things that caught my eye were the valerian cardigan and the washed silk shirtdress. The colors on the cardigan are lovely, and though I would love to see it on someone else, I wouldn't buy it for myself.

The shirtdress is a conundrum to me. Chartreuse? That's very ambitious... Usually the wrap-front shirtdress silhouette looks good on me, but I would have to try it on to see whether it looks ridiculous or not; unfortunately, it's catalogue/online only :\ So I guess I'll never know.

Oh well... here's hoping the Brompton hobo will go on sale before the dead of winter!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Plaid, plaid, ruffles, ruffles, flannel, flannel...you know what caught my eye, and not in a good way? Disco Tartan top for $650. Nuff said.

I'll give you the Velvet jacket. But yeah, overall the colours are very drab... Maybe this is the "transitional" roll out? Most lines do a non-vibrant collection between Summer and "real" Fall. Kinda like Gap's current push on black pants.

    ReplyDelete
  29. over-wrought, over-designed, trying too hard = failed execution.

I think they made a bad choice with the depression-era color scheme etc. I really don't think this Fall is going to be good to them.

    ReplyDelete
  30. That Exhibitor Pouchette in beechwood is calling my name.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Same old recycled ruffles, sequins, if not plaid or tunic styles. Very underwhelmed.

I'm hoping to buy the double serge skirt in bronze ochre and some shoes and bags but that's about it.

Not anything that i MUST have. Also, I thought for these smaller roll outs every few weeks was to make the full price purchases less "painful" since you'll be buying only few pieces each time. Just my 2 cents.

  34. ann taylor is now my go to site. completely obsessed with it this year like i was with jcrew LAST year. MAYBE it's because AT has a great pallette, interesting non-depression era looking colors and textures (charmuese, lizard embossed leather) and quality stuff that HOLDS up. Hey Jcrew - your price point appeals to people in a certain demographic (working professionals - why not try to make clothes for those people? I can't go to work in sequin shorts and a plaid boy shirt. I HATE YOUR SWEATERS NOW. I used to spend $500 a month at your store. I got a $25 rewards card this month. So there. Obviously you're doin it wrong.

(I know this rant isn't so different from 100's before it, i just needed to get that out)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah Genny, I'm sad that it really has happened this way. Now I'm really staying away from FINAL SALE. Good for my wallet.
I'm going to remove my previous comment.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Did anyone notice that the petite size in the velvet blazer is $178, while the regular is $148?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Genny & jcrewphd: I'm confused...what did I miss?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Is it too much to ask for happier colors during this recession? I should not have raised my hopes. Jenna's fall theme of "Edie Beale Goes to Summer Camp" was a bad omen. Edie lived in a "decrepit & decaying" mansion in the Hamptons. Decrepit=decaying=tattered=worn=drab. These are words I never would have associated with Jcrew in another time.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Take a paper-thin tissue tee, put a strangely placed rectangular screen print of lace and charge $42.50?? Hello..that will be $9.99 soon...as it should be to begin with! I don't get it, it's robbery. Go to Forever21.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Clicquot: you can email me at jcrewphd@gmail.com and I will let you know. It's nothing much now since what's done is done.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I like the petit four cardigan especially in black and the honey tweed jacket from the last rollout. The cross town peep toes are darling--great colors! BTW, I just received the LL Bean Signature Collection catalog in the mail featuring a very cute tweed skirt with matching jacket. Unfortunately, the length of the skirt is only 17 inches! I guess it's not just JCrew with the short skirts.

    ReplyDelete
  42. gem twin, that's the one. What I really liked about it is that you can actually wear it with something heavier than a tee without bulking as as you said it is very drapey. I have been looking for something like this forever, and I hope that I won't be disapponted when I try it on.
Personally I like the dream blend, it is very soft and piling is not an issue that a shaver can't solve.
It is a good (cheaper) alternative to cashmere IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I really like the cashmere popover hoodie in the picture. First time I actually want what they show in the front picture!

    ReplyDelete
  44. JCrewphd,

Yes, I deleted mine too. It was nice while it lasted....sometimes people just don't think!!!!

I agree with you. Now final sale it completely off limits to me as well.

    ReplyDelete
  45. They weren't kidding about the website update. I can't shop Final Sale.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The only thing I liked was the new Renatta swimwear. Now those are some good colors. The only things I crush on at JC anymore are the paisley bathing suits.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Why are they going with mud colors this season...muddy olives, muddy browns, muddy purples muddy navies, and muddy reds? Sob :(.
I love the tulipe camis but none of the colors flatter skin tone. I'm praying they'll have another round of colors like they did with the frances and victorias before.

Where are pencil skirts this season?? I love J.Crew Pencil skirts I buy so many of them normally. Not much selection.

One last thing....J.Crew please come up with some designs that don't include sequins or ruffles...I am ruffled and sequined out and don't want to be known as the sequined ruffled girl at work. Many thanks!

  48. Went in to B&M today at Easton. They had the side zip sweatshirt on the sale rack for $39.99 in a slate gray. Not heathered- just what I call a slate gray. Snatched it up. I also got two of the ruffle collar henleys on promo and a tank top. I purchased one of the embellished tees because I guess I was late getting on that train and only have 2 so I could use another one to spruce up a cardigan. And yes I paid $42.50 for it because I liked it. I already own the alpaca long cardigans in both colors- love them! And I got the sweatshirt dress on a previous trip. FYI- I think the green colored perfect fit long sleeve tee is a totally different color in person and much prettier too. AND- arriving this week was my bromptom satchel in henna. LOVE LOVE LOVE! I had ordered the hobo in henna and returned it because it seemed a little orange and I just couldn't make the commitment to it. I decided to try the satchel and Love it! I wear it cross body- I use the outer zip pockets for things I don't need to get out regularly and leave the middle compartment unzipped and put my wallet and such in there. Then the magnetic closure keeps it closed. It's very handy!!! Sorry for long post- I missed out getting to post reviews on Tuesday.

  49. Off topic, but wanted to share...

20% off Talbots full price merchandise - Enter code TEACHERS2010

    On Topic...
Interested in the silk shirtdress... finally great colors!! Few shirts.. nothing that I will pay full price for.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ema, do you mean the Crushed Jacquard? It's very pretty but looks a bit too high-maintenance for regular officewear. I had a metallic jacquard dress from JC a couple of summers ago and found that the way the fabric is constructed causes it to pull very easily.

If I'm remembering right, JC did a lovely tweedy black/grey pencil skirt last year, similar to the Blushed Tweed pencil skirt (which I bought). How awesome would a Donegal wool pencil skirt be? :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. If the news arrivals weren't marked as such, I wouldn't even have noticed them in persuing the site. I'm just so meh on everything there right now, with the exception of some of the shoes and the odd jewelry item.

I'm sick of retailers skimping on the length of their garments in order to save money - that's what it is, it's not a fashion-based decision at all. I notice that now the skirts are all shorter on the special occasion (ie bridesmaid) dresses!

Interesting that they are offering free shipping at the $100 mark with this rollout, as opposed to $150.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Mia: I just saw that "free shipping with $100 order". That definitely was not there this morning!! The sweaters I wanted to order are no longer available in my size, so I'm out of luck. I really don't want to buy any more final sale merchandise anyway when I can go to the B&M and it WON'T be final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Just made it through the mini rollout. I didn't see anything that I wanted, except the peeptoes, and the price + manmade soles = not for me. The colors are very drab, the ruffles and sequins are recycled from all the other rollouts and the styling is, who'da thunk it, borrowed from the boys!!! I'm glad I'm not going to have to sit through their sales meetings the next few months because I seriously think they are going to have a hard time selling this stuff. I wonder what you do when you have to put a whole season of clothes on retail life support?

    ReplyDelete
  54. OT with Milljcrew -- Click here to print & use the Talbot's teacher appreciation coupon in-store. It's good on full price merch thru 8/16. All info on that link.

  55. I am also unimpressed, though I am a drunkard on the crewlade. I was very excited to see the icon trench in a wool/cashmere, as I have the cotton and it is an absolute mainstay of my wardrobe. But I am ITA with xoxo, the seaming at the back is not attractive, it is very 1970's in a bad way. Too bad, as that would be a nice trench to own.
The Banquette in the seaport blue is the best thing going, as Hexicon noted. I've got it hanging in my closet and I can't wait to wear it!
Oh, one thing I could be tempted to buy: the flannel tuxedo in the coal: over the black Pixie pants (2009) and the black Vintage Roadster boots (2009) , that would be a good Fall weekend look for me.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Mia and Shopalot, can you share the $100 free shipping code?

    ReplyDelete
  57. AJC: SHIP100 is the free ship with $100 purchase code (see the jcrew.com home page). Great that it's not $150 this time; pretty darned easy to spend $100. Too bad it isn't extra % off, too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Very strange but I can't see the free ship for $100 either. On the JC homepage I see free ship with $150. I am using FireFox and out of curiosity, I opened a new browser (IE) and it says free ship at $175. Whaaa???

    ReplyDelete
  59. That's so strange! The browser I'm using is IE. I checked the JC site three times, it says SHIP100 for free shipping of orders $100 or more.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @shopalot I just opened it in Chrome and can see the free ship $100. The other codes are similar (SHIP150 and SHIP175).

    ReplyDelete
  61. like so many other times, I ignored the website and relied on this helpful and caring community. My browser showed SHIP150, I typed in SHIP100, and it worked. Thanks, all!

  62. UGH. Where is the cuteness?! I could dress head to toe in this rollout and release my inner bag lady, I guess.

However, I will say I got the fall Boden catalog and WOW. Super cute jackets, sweaters, skirts, dresses in get this-colors that aren't the color of wall paint in a correctional institution! YAY!

I am interested in the wool Minnies though, I have to say.

    ReplyDelete
  63. OT: I am selling my sunshine peonies skirt from last spring which I have not had chance to wear. Its a size 8 still with tags and $70.00. Lovely skirt. Please note that this material of this skirt is very light and papery in case you are not familiar with it from last spring. Email dcstylista1@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  64. I don't understand the discrepancies with their website right now. I noticed the petite velvet blazer is $178- $30 more than regular and tall sizes?! And when I checked for the shipping code, the offer was free shipping when you spend $175?!! I won't even bite when the offer is free ship on orders of $150. Why is it showing up different for everyone?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thanks Whitney and Ema on the size and fabric feedback. I have a sweater razor as even expensive sweaters seem to require it.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Wow! I had no idea the ship codes were different for different people. Weird. Sorry I didn't put the code in my first post where I mentioned it - I just assumed it was showing on everyone's page!!

That is too weird. What is up with this company!?? Good thing we all share with each other! And a big thank you Alexis for culling all the info together into one place!

    ReplyDelete
  67. For those interested I put up pics on my blog of the in-store only sweater that I was talking about earlier and the herringbone mini. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  68. DaniBP and Hexicon, I have the blue Banquette dress in my cart and I'll likely buy it this weekend. Was hoping for a promo on dresses or a 20% off coupon for your total order but free shipping is almost as good. I am a bit hesitant as I may have a DVF dress in a very similar color but silk knit fabric so I was trying not to get an almost duplicate. Since the Banquette is wool and I wore the black and light gray Banquettes from last year quite a bit I'll go ahead and buy the seaport blue version as well. I like the pinstripe a bit better even so will probably throw that into the order as well. I am busty but find that scarves are terrific for filling out the neckline and adding a bit of contrast.

Thanks DaniBP for the IRL photos and reviews of the Banquette dresses on your blog. You are so helpful and always entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Nothing I'm interested in. Maybe I'll find something if I'm able to get to the B&M to see the pieces IRL though.
