Surprise! Log Into J.Crew for Free Shipping {part 2}

As mentioned in the September 25th "Surprise! Log Into J.Crew for Free Shipping" post, Casual Crew was kind enough to let us know that J.Crew was offering free shipping to its clients (randomly selected) after logging-in to their online account and updating their account information. Several {wonderful} JCAs confirmed (in the same post) the fabulous news. Well, there's some more related news...

A big "thanks!" to Joyce (in this post) who shared the following:
I just received a card from JCrew stating that as a way of saying thank you, they've created a VIP phone line just for me and free shipping thru 10/11. I am so excited! Did anyone else get this?
"Thanks!" to jcrewlover (in this post) to who followed up with:
i too got the card in the mail about logging into my account and getting free shipping on any amount thru 10/11, plus they have created a new phone line as well. Alexis, I would scan it but my scanner is broken!! It's a little grey card, about 4X8", came in a non descrpit tan envelope that I almost threw away!!
Also, "thanks!" to Ms.Mer (in this post) who shared the image above of the card sent to customers.

It's worth a try to log-in to your account online to get free shipping (with no minimum!) on your order. And of course, check your mailbox to see if you got something special! :)

Incidentally, I have logged into my account everyday. Unfortunately, I have not been chosen to get the free shipping offer. However, I am thrilled for all those who have. I think it's a wonderful marketing move on J.Crew's part.

Happy shopping!

  1. I've used the free shipping twice on things I wouldn't have bought otherwise... 4 pairs of the wool aran knee socks from last fall (to die for) and today I got a bathing suit top that was $39.99 just yesterday and is now $9.99.

I will certainly be taking advantage of this more... with 11 more days to go... could be dangerous! But it is really nice. So far I've already saved $14.95 in shipping costs on just those two little orders.

  3. I am guessing the card is home waiting for me. I have to say great job on J.Crew's part...I have placed 4 orders since getting the free shipping. And if they just made free shipping standard for cardholders, I'd keep my card instead of canceling it.

  4. I haven't recvd my mail today. However, I recvd an email from my PS stating that the New Holiday Collection will be in-store on 10/9.

  5. I haven't gotten this offer or free shipping, and I've also logged in repeatedly. On another note, my PS said that our B&M will have new arrivals on the floor next Tuesday or Wednesday (10/6-7), with Crewcuts out on Friday of next week (10/9).

  6. Congratulations to all who are getting the free shipping! I haven't gotten it when logging into my account and haven't received a card, either.

So if the Free Shipping ends on 10/11 there's a good chance the New Arrivals will be online 10/12. ;)

My PS and the manager both said new arrivals are scheduled to be on the floor here Thursday 10/8.

  8. OT: I received my Lord & Taylor cashmere sweaters today (after placing my order yesterday morning, that was fast!). Quick review:

    1. Cashmere hoodie - got this in red (a true red) and it is so cute! TTS, not too boxy or too slim. Long sleeves and double-zip. The cashmere is nice and thick. I like this one a lot.

    2. Crewneck cardigan - got this one in plum and again, love the color. I'd say it's closest to JC's aubergine or plum raisin. It is not as short as a Jackie, but not as long as some of their other cardigans. A teensy bit on the boxy side, but this doesn't bother me since I'll be wearing it over long-sleeved shirts. As long as their free shipping (>$99) is going on, I may just order a size down for comparison. Again, the yarn is nice and thick, and not totally see-through if I hold it up to the light (unlike the JC cashmere tunic that I returned today).

If you're looking for some cashmere basics you may want to give L&T a try - like we've discussed on JCA, the styles and colors are a little more basic, but the pieces may have more longevity. I'll keep you posted on their durability.

And now back to your regularly scheduled JCA programming...

  9. I'm still waiting for extra20! I have my cart saved with loads of stuff...:( Oh well, I may just have to suck it up and settle for just the free shipping. :)

  10. I wonder if the unlimited free shipping is the fall perk to replace the red card.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the wool herringbone bucket hat? I received mine yesterday in butterscotch and it looks like the band across the front is too small, the fabric is kind of scrunched beneath it. The stitching on the brim is also not perfectly lined up and there's one area on the inside that has a bunch of curled up thread sewn into the stitching. I realize this is only a $34 hat and not Burberry or anything but I wonder if I just got a defective one of if they are all just rather poorly made.

  11. I just posted a picture on my blog if anyone wants to know what to look for: www.thebestjoyce.blogspot.com

It came in such a nondescript envelope that I almost threw it away.

  12. Everyone: Yey for all those who got the card. :) I ran to the mailbox to see if I got it, but I did not. I am hoping that I might get one in the next couple of days. :)

Ms.Mer & Joyce: Thanks for sharing the images of the card! I updated the post with an image. :)

FFM & Ann & GigiOfCa: Wahoo! for new arrivals coming soon. Can't wait! :)

  13. It seems, by the way the mailed info. card reads, that if you cannot get free shipping by now with logging onto your online account that a card would not be on the way either...(unless one does not have an online account yet...)

  14. I have also not been randomly selected for this promotion. But still, kudos to J.Crew on coming up with a creative way to get people excited about logging into their accounts. Free shipping's nothing to sneeze at either. Now if they'd just send out those rewards cards... :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have it on my log in and did a mock order to test it before getting too excited about free shipping to Canada.

It works! Now to just find some great deals to score.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Rewards cards won't come out until end of October. shame we have to wait:(

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yea for those who got one! :)

Nothing for me - no free shipping code or mailing.

  18. I got a card as well and the same phone number as the one joyce received. Not sure how this is an extra benefit..other than free shipping with no minimum. I much prefer last spring's 25% off in store card promotion. It was great. Husband and I made several trips with the red card. Seriously J.Crew this is all you can offer during a recession when your competitors are practically giving away merchandise at 30%-40% off?

  19. I didn't get the card but I am still getting the free shipping message when I log in. I used it to make a smaller order that wouldn't have qualified for one of the usual high minimum shipping codes.

I'm not shopping for a while right now for general fiscal reasons, but I certainly wish they'd offer free shipping for cardholders, esp. as I can't get to store for red phone. I'd be more likely to treat myself to smaller purchases on a more frequent basis if this were offered.

Dickfiddy, I have no problems with the quality of my herringbone hat. In fact, I liked it enough to order another. The band is a little smaller than the circumference of that part of the hat but that seems to help it fit better and it isn't puckered. I wish JC would offer more of these fun and relatively inexpensive items.

  20. Hm. It'd be nice to have; I ordered the pointelle tights before I even knew they were giving out random free shippings and for some odd reason, my tights have been sitting at the UPS place about 30 miles away from me for the past four days straight with no set date for delivery. They haven't even tried to deliver them. They arrived at the UPS hub and have been sitting there since.

Ugh. It's a UPS problem more than likely but I am still slightly peeved. I WANT MY TIGHTS.

  21. I didn't get a card but am also still getting the free shipping through my account when I log in. I'm very pleased that j.crew is doing this, but I do hate that it is selective. I still hope they'll do another red card for the holidays...no doubt that will make their sales jump!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thanks Hexicon. Did you order the S/M or the M/L?

I also noticed that the brim is kind of wrinkled and I wasn't able to steam it out. When I look at the photos online they are also wrinkled.

I guess it is what it is, an inexpensive, fun hat.

  23. I haven't got free shipping it really is making me angry! I guess I'll just spent my money at Martin and Osa. Poo on you J Crew

  24. got mine yesterday, although I've noticed that I've had free shipping for almost a week now in my account. I won't lie...it's been very enticing, and I've placed two small orders that I would not have otherwise... go j.crew! :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Dickfiddy, I purchased the M/L, even though I'm 5'4" and a size 2 (with flat, straight hair). Good thing I was able to try it on in the store as that was not the size I expected to take. I wanted the brim to be low and this size worked better; the S/M sat too high on my head. Also I often wear my hair in a twist or knot and the M/L works with that.

The brim on my black isn't wrinkled--maybe you just received a dud and should exchange? My copper is due to arrive today.

  26. Wow, some people will complain about anything...even when they have free shipping with no minimum cards.

I would be soooo happy to have free shipping no minimum.

I did not place an order with JCrew the entire month of Sept. and am planning the same for Oct.
I just refuse to pay their high shipping and I don't like to buy extra ride-a-longs just b/c....

  27. I've had the free shipping for days but just got the card today. Hm.

  28. OK...I got a card but I also got a pair of earrings, that I did not order. They were the Heirloom Flora earrings.
The card is white plastic and the size of a credit card. I'll have a post tomorrow on it with pics but did anyone else get a free gift?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes, I've received a wonderful gift from J.Crew this morning as well. Beautiful earrings. I wanted to email Alexis a picture but I don't have her email address.

  30. Well I am grateful to get the card-I don't want to appear ungrateful as I know many people did not get a card, but I still would love to see a 20% off or more sale in the future to benefit everyone. Prices are still very high at J.Crew in this economic climate and I need to start cutting back on my purchases there as a result which is sad given my addiction to the crewlade. I know many others are in the same boat here.

  31. audreybella and Victoria -- I also received the Heirloom earrings earlier today in the mail, along with the white 800# card. No free shipping, tho, but it was a fun surprise. I posted photos over at my blog.

  32. I also rec'd the card & earrings today (which I already have and get tons of compliments on!).
    Very nice gesture! Thanks JCrew!

  33. I received the earrings with the special number card too! No free shipping code, but I am impressed with the gesture.

  34. I TOO RECEIVED THESE PURDY EARRINGS TODAY IN THE MAIL!
