Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  2. Yup...clearance a bore as always lately, but tried on some full price things so I can buy/order when they go on clearance :)

    1. I did the same thing! But, I didn't really find anything that I'd want to buy, even on sale or clearance.

    1. as a fellow Canadian...my goal is to not set foot in a J Crew store unless it is 40% or 50% off sale. I vow to stick it out....anyone want to join me ? C

    2. I'll join you. I already went on my birthday shopping spree and I only have one item on my wishlist right now, but the % off is horrible.
We've been excluded from US sales and with the exchange rate I'm kinda bummed out about it.
      Treat us better Jcrew!

    3. i think j Crew will not last long up here (I do not want them to fail) if they continue with the poor promos...we got used to having better. when you take it away...we go away C

    4. I'm ok with 30% off current items that hit sale as I think 40-50% is more for end of season items. I agree though that it's tough since we're used to better discounts. I def have a problem with being left out of the full price promos that the US has been getting. I'm not paying full price cdn prices that's for sure and being left out of promos all of a sudden is insulting.

    5. Sounds like we all want the same thing; fair goods for fair price.

Sadly the Canadian dollar's nose dive has really hurt us.

90% of my J.Crew shopping is online. I am on the wagon for clothing shopping for Lent. And like the rest of you my shopping will be limited to sale and free shipping incentives.

The past year has taught me to be be patient and wait for deals and happily I've found them and pretty much all I needed and more.

    6. It has been over a year since I last bought anything at full price - back before JC 'adjusted' all their pricing for us Canadians. I used to spend a few hundred a month there easily, now I rarely go in and only scope the sale racks. The stores are very quiet, compared to what they used to be. At some point they will have to take a very hard look at the bottom line north of the border: are they willing to take a hit in profit by adjusting prices downward or putting promos in place in order to generate sales? Or will they cut their losses and start closing stores? Can you say Target...?

      Delete
    7. J Crew doing a " Target" is my worse nightmare. But they are over priced up here. C

    8. I like to order online...The Canadian SA's seem to find my returns difficult...to say the least. I am starting to just not bother anymore. If I lived in the US (spending US $ ) I would buy alot more often.

    9. I still visit the website for new arrivals but I have now a wish list with about 18 items in it and am in the process of cleaning that out. The lack of sale is a massive insult. I have not bought anything since the end of December from crew. While there are items I want, I refuse to buy when the have actively decided to remove all promos for Canadians while giving them to Americans. I live in Toronto and Nordstrom will be making its long awaited debut here very soon. I can find what I need there. It will be doomsday for jcrew when they arrive in this city. I used to spend a few hundred a month too at jcrew Alonso exclusively. Online and in store. Nothing now for two months. The must haves don't feel so important anymore. I feel ripped off. I also used to buy a few regular price items I loved and also shopped a lot of 25% off sales.

  5. OT - Does anyone own this: Vintage short-sleeve pajama set (item 80295)?

I am kind of digging the whole pajama look..and wanted to know if it looks too silly to wear the top of this pajama set? Or like I just rolled out of bed, and didn't bother to change out of my pajama top? I guess if you iron it, it would look polished and put together...
J.Crew paired the pajama top in navy with the midi skirt in polka dot!

I wouldn't pair mine with that polka dot skirt..but probably with my wool navy patio.
I hope J.Crew comes up with something similar like that pajama top but in silk...

    1. So cute to wear it with loafers.

    2. I have exactly that pajama and even if you iron it it does look like a pajama top IMO. I think it could potentially work with a pair of shorts (like jeans shorts) but I wouldn't pair it with a skirt. It's a great pajama though!

    3. ...Even when ironed?! lol Thanks Ema. Maybe J.Crew will come out with something from Collection.

    1. So funny, I was just looking for Rynetta's post because I stopped in a store today and saw this trench. It's much nicer in person and the fabric looks much more substantial. I didn't try it on because the color doesn't work for me, but from what I saw it looked like a heavy canvas fabric, not that lighter crinkly fabric I was expecting. (I was thinking it was similar to the fishtail anorak which I bought for my 19 year old this spring, I love that but it's a much more casual look.)
In person this looks like a traditional trench but with a slightly more updated fabric instead of something that looks like it only would get worn in the rain. It's also less wrinkly than I thought. As a NYC girl, I could easily see this over black skinny pants and a striped tee with ballet flats. Super chic.

    2. It makes me wish I bought that olive green one that Ema bought around Christmas. I really could see wearing it a million different ways.

    3. Suz Has, I feel like the military trench would really suit you! Maybe you can catch it on pop back. I did, but ended up returning it as I'm a little short for it. I imagine it is similar to the washed trench based on Gigi's review. The military trench is not as thin as people implied in the reviews. It also had a slight flare at the waist. I think it ran a little big too because I ordered the smaller of my two sizes and it still was roomy.

    4. Yes, the military trench has a feminine flair to it because of the flare (even if "military") that the washed trench (and the Icon for that matter) doesn't have (they are straight). It reminds me a bit of the Encore, minus the tulle.
Now, don't quote me on this but I saw what seemed to be a doppelganger in the windows of the Brooke Brothers store (it actually almost ruined it for me as I don't shop there). I am not sure about the style but the color is identical. It isn't that olive BTW, it is more of a salad green.
You may want to check it out. I do think it is pretty thin, the washed trench is more substantial.

    5. Brooks, not Brooke! Anyway it is this one: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Micro-Houndstooth-Trench-Coat (I didn't notice the micro-houndstooth from afar, it looked plain green).
Wowza though, trenches are in the $600-$700 at Brooks Brothers? That's bordering Burberry territory...

    6. It's absolutely not a need for me, matter of fact, I have a michael kors one in red with a removable hood and lining but the same flared bottom. I've never even seen the military trench in person! I just actually really liked the canvas one more than I expected and thought something similar in green would work better for my skin tone.

  7. Interesting review of the new J.Crew sunglasses. Big surprise, the reviewer feels they're overpriced.

    1. Thanks for the link to this review. My take away was that they're on par with BR glasses, which are the same price. However J. Crew's seem to be a little bit better made. That's exactly what I was hoping for, so I will patiently await my 6/23 waitlist date. rofl

  8. A co- worker shared her recent items with me...nice to see some IRL's
But...the new necklace (navy one) looks like a slight revamp of the bubble necklace of long ago. The lucite pink is one...huge. So many will like it. The grommet sandal is really really bad...and not in a good way...My co worker only kept the pink necklace...

  9. OT but curious if anyone has washed their structured zip knit dress at home? The tag says to machine wash cold but I'm nervous to wash it - the material seems like the material might end up funny after washing. thanks!

    1. I've washed mine on cold, and then dried on low heat for ~20 mins and then hung to dry the rest of the way and it's totally fine (I've done this a few times).

  10. Should I buy the Downtown Field Jacket while it's 25% off and has the free shipping or should I wait for it to be on sale. When does it go on sale? It's been on the site forever and I know it's been re-promoted for Spring. I like it, but I'm also patient. I can wear it for Fall, especially since the color I want is burgundy.

    1. Hi Jessica! I just looked and I purchased the mossy green one last March when it was marked down, with an extra % off. I paid $77 for it. So maybe, it will get marked down soon? You could purchase it now and wait and see what happens since you have 60 days to return...

    2. Thank you for checking! I really appreciate it. I think I will wait then.

    3. I have one on gray from a few years ago and this season they came out with black. I paid about $75 or so 4 years ago, and it was from factory. If I could get a black one for close to that price, I'd be thrilled.
