Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Land's End's new CEO continues to impress me. Spring prints are cute, quality and return policy are top notch. Very happy with two coats I received recently. And the Minnie pump is awesome. Gorgeous construction, comfortable and on sale now for 49.99. I just stay away from the frumpy styles. Almost always delighted with my finds.

    1. I agree. I got the Women's Mid Rise 7" Chino Shorts in Midnight Indigo Stripe recently - it's early to buy shorts but I'm going to Florida soon. I loved the shorts - the fit was great and the fabric was nice too (not see-through).

    2. Saw a lady wear a really cute yellow raincoat and asked where she bought it And she said lands end from few years back. Was impressed- looked nice not frumpy at all. Thought it was north face or jcrew. I think there's def some good finds at lands end if ur willing to search and of course avoid the frumpy looking stuff ;)!

  2. We recently had an H&M open up in Missoula, so I decided to check out their new arrivals online to see if a road trip might be warranted. I've shared my personal picks here. The last time I was in one of their stores was several years ago when I lived in Florida. I'm surprised to see that they are now offering a mix of mid to higher quality items, and a lot of natural fabrics, too. Check out my post if you get the chance, and take a peek at my Anthropologie New Arrival picks here, as well as my picks for the new arrivals at Madewell here. :)

  3. Ann Taylor Banded Sleeve Topper compared to Chateau trench:

I received my Chateau trench coats in the "barley" and "fiery sunset." Great coat. I take a 2 in J. Crew blazers but a 4 in the Lady Day winter coat. I ordered the Chateau trench in a 4 and it just fits in the shoulders - no room for anything too bulky underneath. I think the A-line shape is cute and fits the casual feel of the coat.

I also tried the Banded Sleeve Topper over at Ann Taylor. This coat comes in two colors similar to the chateau. This coat has much more professional look and a straight shape. Fabric feels great - substantial. The lining in the body part seems clingy. No hood. There is band detail on the back which is lower than usual to create/emphasize the straight shape - works ok. Very classic coat. Ann T regularly has 40% sales. I tried the S and XS - both could work but I think the XS is best. FYI: I had a bit more room in the shoulders in this XS than the Chateau 4 but the hips just fit.

I'm probably going to keep both colors in the Chateau and the "coast" (neutral) color in the Banded Sleeve Topper -- which should more than round out my spring coat needs...

    1. I loved the AT banded sleeve topper also and agree with your review of it. It's a great coat.

I also love the Chateau trench - I caved in and purchased it full price in fiery sunset and am glad I did. The color is amazing and the coat reminds me of old school J.Crew in that it feels special and well thought-out
