  4. I must be sick or something. Free shipping and a better promo and I can't find anything to buy. Maybe there will be some afternoon popbacks.

    1. @shoppingcelle I feel the same way. I was all excited to have a sale promotion and my cart is empty. I'm wishing I had grabbed a skirt that was on popback yesterday and gotten the price adjustment today but oh well. Maybe there will be some good popbacks over the weekend.

  5. I have some things in my cart that I know will fit but they are final sale. Going to wait to order until I get home from work and check the mail for rewards as I did not receive yesterday like some others.

    1. What's also annoying about the stupid Rewards debacle is that they didn't (or haven't) send them out via email as well this time like they usually do. I'm sure they will email them, etc, but considering it's taken them so long to go out, you'd think it'd be faster to email them. (I did receive mine yesterday via Snail Mail, hope you gets yours soon as well, in time for any Pres. day sale or the new rollout next week.)

  6. I would skip this promo and start to fill your card with fp stuff that you are eyeing. I am *almost* sure there will be a site wide promo starting tomorrow, they always had one for President's Day in recent years and it typically starts on Saturday (like 20% off $100, 25% off $150 and 30% off $250). I could be wrong but this is a lame promo anyway so it can only get better.

    3. Oh I hope so. The fine print does say the current promo is supposed to run through the 14th though. However I know in the past they have subbed in one promo for another before the first one was over. Also perhaps they will wait until the actual holiday, the 15th, for a good site wide promo. hmmmm

    4. yeah I'm not going for 30% off sale...I want min of 40%---and 25-30 on FP (and not "select") . Will wait it out!

  7. No valentines love for Canadians JCrew. Thought it must be an error when I compared USA and Cdn JC websites this morning? Why no equivalent 30-40% off sale for your Canadian customers. Somewhat insulting in a way - do you think we are completely naive online shoppers who wouldn't notice the discriminatory promo policy this time around when past sale % off promos have applied equally to USA and Cdn shoppers. Not cool JCrew.

    2. Any east coast Canadians seen whether the in store 30% discount off sale section that was running yesterday has also been removed today? I am west coast so few hours till stores open and I am wondering whether I will be disappointed when go back later today to purchase my sale items put on hold yesterday. May not be worth the trip. Head instead to BR store which was offering 40% off a good selection of current spring merchandise.

    3. Another pissed off Canadian customer here. I've never seen this before in all my 15 years of J Crew shopping.

    5. GoWest, here in Toronto, both the Eaton Centre and Yorkdale are 30%-off clearance, but for some reason, Yorkville continues to be an additional 50%-off clearance. So if any Torontonians are interested in sale items, try to get it at the Yorkville location if you can!

And count me in as another person surprised to see an online sale apply only to the US and not both the US and Canada this time.

  8. A couple of the items I want were available earlier this week when there wasn't a promo or free shipping, so I didn't order, and now they are gone in my size, of course. Sort of wishing I had ordered and tried for a PA at this point, but I'll keep stalking in case they popback before the holiday weekend is over.

OT: Lots of other sales going on across the web from various retailers. I've shared a list of some of my favorites plus my personal picks from each one in this post on my blog. :)

  9. Has anyone seen or tried on the Sleeveless sheath dress with eyelet trim? The olive color is intriguing me.

  10. Slightly OT but how do people feel about the Campbell Capri vs. the Teddie? I only tried the Campbell on in full length but really liked it. Obviously the flare at the bottom is not as pronounced.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I like both and they are pretty similar. Differences: pockets. Teddie has the zippered front pockets and Campbell has more typical pockets. The fabric is different too - the Teddie: cotton/viscose/elastane and the Campbell: cotton/rayon with stretch. I felt the Teddie has a little more sheen and a slightly higher rise.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for the info. I got specific measurements too and even though the Campbell Capri pants are a great price, final sale makes me a bit leery.

      Delete
    3. Suz Has - I like both the Campbell & Teddie. I took 8P in the Campbell and the reg 6 Teddie fits just fine in the length. So I think the Teddie must be a little shorter.

I reviewed a printed Campbell capri in this post, if that helps.

    4. Thanks. I'm going to wait and just hope those geometric print pants work for me. ;) I think the Campbell Capri would be ok—but maybe not a wow for me.

  11. The sale section is just confusing now. The legalese says 30% off select final sale, 40% off select final sale, but neither percentages apply to the item I want.

So some final sale doesn't get a % off?

    3. @Shopping Celle @cousy - I can't hang out in the sale section like I'm in a math class final. I ordered a dress and got off of there.

      Delete
    4. Gigi, either 30% off or 40% off should apply to all sale items. The 40% off items are easy to spot because they have their dedicated section (the ex. 50% off section) and what's not there should be 30% off. But I hear you, it is way too complicated for the customers.

      Delete
    5. Ema, the dress I ordered was 40% off, but didn't say so on the page. I had to go thru the checkout to find out that it was Then we have Sloans at full price and final sale. I think they're having coding/site issues.

  15. Bargain alert: I dropped by Jcrew today and clearance jewelry was an additional 50% off. Not sure if the same for Canada. The layered crystal necklace in lemon item E9075 netted $17.48 and the crystal pendant necklace E9092 with bow netted $12.49. I had to control myself and walk away! 16. Finally received my rewards today! (I live in SF) That took 6 weeks. Doesn't it always take around that time?!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, it always takes 6 weeks. Sometimes JC sends out an e-mail with your number and pin a few days before, but they did not do it this time. I assume it's the personalization aspect of the cards with the rewards $$ that takes the time, otherwise you would receive a regular orange gift card. There's so much complaining about the rewards taking so long that JC may need to rethink their strategy of personalizing the experience.

      Delete
    2. Agree, JenniferD, it would be great if J Crew started considering another option for handling rewards. The Banana/Gap stores have done them for years and they're also personalized, without the ridiculous wait time. (Awarded after reaching a certain number of points and sent out by the next billing cycle, rather than once per quarter like JC does.) The result is more satisfying and it seems possible, so why not?! Oh well.

      Delete
    3. Forgot to mention that Banana rewards are emailed and sent via text if you sign up! (Get with the times, JC!)

      Delete
    4. I like Gap brands rewards system much better than JC's. Lots of opportunities to earn double or triple points, REAL cardholder perks (currently it's a tiered promo for non-cardholders but 40% off your purchase if you have a card), plus there doesn't seem to be as much mystery around the rewards. With JC, sometimes I know I've spent enough to earn rewards, but if it's overlapping in cycles then I don't receive anything. I'd love to see a total overhaul of their system, but honestly I'd settle for free shipping on all orders for cardholders.

      Delete
    5. Silver Lining, I prefer the Gap brand rewards system too. First, I can use my card for everything, not only the Gap brands. There are lots of promos where I can get triple points and they add up fast. I can use my rewards at Athleta, Gap, Old Navy or Banana Republic. Most importantly, there's no mystery, no waiting for months, and no hassle. J. Crew ought to give that a go.

      Delete
    6. I would totally go for a Jcrew Visa card. With their double & triple point promotions, I often have so many Gap family rewards that I have trouble using them all.

      Delete
    7. Personally, it doesn't matter to me when I get my rewards or what they look like (although I like the pretty green card this go around!). I'll spend it now, or I'll spend it later, but I _will_ spend it. I believe JC has done several cardholder-only promotions over the past few years. For example, cardholders get a greater percentage off regular priced or sale merchandise than non-cardholders. I'm not sure why rewards expire, but regular gift cards do not . . . I wish they would omit the "spend by" date.

      Delete
    8. I agree that GAP brands has a much better rewards system - rewards come with the monthly bill and there are so many ways to earn points. Plus rewards don't expire for several months.

      Delete

  19. As I mentioned above, if you're in Toronto, the Yorkville location is the only one I'm aware of which has 50%-off final sale items. It's not the best selection at this point (though they do have more shoes in the back if you ask), but definitely the best deal in the city. For sure I know the Eaton Centre and Yorkdale are still doing 30%-off, and I'm not sure about Sherway Gardens or Fairview.

    1. There's definitely something up with the website - a lot of newer items discounted $5 or nominal amounts like that. I took advantage and bought the suede Elsie pumps in vibrant berry this morning - they were discounted $5 and rang up 40% off.

    2. who ever is responsible for Canada not being included in the current promo is not making me very happy ! As far as I know this has not happened before. Also who lets one store in Toronto have 50% off sale and every other store in Canada 30% this is just....terrible. I would be curious to know if any Canucks go and ask for the Toronto's stores promos ( No matter what store you are at...if this works. spread the word. thanks C

      Delete
    3. The Canadian website sale section is laughable. So many of the items are on "sale" marked down a nominal amount (for example, the suede Elsie's that Anne refers to are marked down from $311 to $306) but there is no additional percent off the sale section on the Canadian site. I would hardly call a $5 reduction a "sale". Get real J Crew.

      Delete
    4. Unknown, as of today, it looks like that one store in Toronto is doing 30%-off like all the other Canadian stores.

  21. An update to the vent post about stores not being able to do charge sends: I called to inquire about an item this morning and was told that the only way they could ship from a store was if you used your Jcrew card. The crystal cluster necklace A2949 is now on the way to my porch at the instore price of $50 since jewelry is an extra 50% off clearance. I'm a happy camper Gigi!

  22. I ordered a bathing suit bottom yesterday that I've been wanting to try, glad I did as it was only on promo price for 1 day apparently. Today it's back to full price so I agree there's some weird pricing going on. I shipped it to the US since I have to go across the border to pick up something else. The price was $21 after the % off vs $50 cdn so still much cheaper even with terrible exchange rate.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Why don't they send rewards by email anymore?! There is something I would have purchased yesterday with the free shipping but I didn't have my reward (still don't). Lost opportunity for both J.Crew and myself! So irritating.

  27. Stopped by one of my favorite smaller JC stores today; service is great and staff is very helpful. Manager said there was a mistake on the shipment, so they had received some new arrivals early and were putting them out. I was interested in the daisy print perfect shirt from style guide. I really like the shirt and bought it; fit was tts in my usual 8 and I can see wearing this with navy pants to transition to spring. Will be great later in spring/summer with pink, white or blue/white stripe pants/skirts. There was a promo for 25% off tops and the shirt was included and I was able to use my educator discount too. Also picked up the fine striped v-neck cardigan in navy/white that went on sale. I can pair the cardigan with the daisy print top for a mix of patterns; will also look great with other JC options too. Planning to go back to store on Tuesday when all new arrivals will be available.

It will be a good fall season!

    3. Somsack's debut! It doesn't seem like much of a departure from the recent aesthetic in terms of silhouette but I thought the colors were lovely. Pinks, blues, greens. Florals, leopard, layers. The shoes are what everyone is talking about for sure. I saw a couple interesting coats, one looks like a long version of the Downtown Field.

    4. I saw that Downtown Field-like jacket. I love that whole look. There are some really beautiful prints, too.

    5. There are a couple of pieces I like, but for the most part..............no.

    6. Like the color scheme and Yaaasssss to the shoes. More specially, I like the floral print even though it still says spr/sum to me. I did buy the graphic peony print this year, so this would be on my radar. Like the tassel loafer in what appears to be navy/cream. The block heel makes this an option for me. Pink is cute too in the loafer, but not a likely choice for me for fall/spr. A better option for me is the chunky pink sweater (Jenna wore it) that's also available in light blue. Didn't see any skirt loves; I bought 3 this year that were shown @ NYFW for Fall 2015. Hope that changes. As for pants, they're cute, but I only own 2 pairs of JC dress pants :( so not expecting much there, but maybe there's a gem in the mix. Didn't see any dresses and as usual JC has done a great job with the coats, love the pink triple breasted and 3 button coat in what appears to be chocolate. I live in Texas so I don't wear coats much (own 2 and they're both Vince) because the weather just doesn't warrant it. As an example, it's gonna be 82 on Friday and in the mid to upper 70s all week. Think it was a good show for JC & agree with @ruffles that it didn't feel like a major shift which is probably a balanced outcome.

    7. Looks similar to other years...just jazzed up more. IMO.

    8. I just want some normal full length wide leg (not those ultra wide!! just some that aren't so form fitting or "slim" ) pants that I can wear to work....oh and the everyday chino to come back ;) I do like all the colors though. But I don't see anything that jumps out at me as must have yet.

      Delete
    9. Lots of good stuff. Love the bright pink cuffed ankle pants and shoes on the same look. Also loving the bright yellow floral print in the bag and a blazer- I wish, wish, wish that was a schoolboy blazer. Plaid coat is cute too. Not loving all the shoes with ankle straps - better get what I can now before that style dominates.

      Delete
    10. Luxette, that yellow floral print jumped out to me as well for both items. (Also liked one of the tweed blazers, hoping it's not a Campbell as I can't figure out the right fit for me in that style, no matter what size i try!) Liked a few of the coats, including that red plaid and that pink tweed one. Wasn't loving the ankle strap shoes for me personally, but only b/c that wrap style doesn't work on my muscular little legs! Jealous of those who can rock them. Some cute items in there, looking forward to this roll-out.

    11. Loving the colors and all the different textures, but it looks like a lot of the same unflattering silhouettes.

    12. I like some of the shoes, too. The block heels are great.

  30. Speaking of #jcrewnyfw, what is your favorite, most wearable look?

I'm loving the shoes, the ankle length wide length pants, the wide leg khakis—
From my own closet, I have the point sur teddy jeans which I was unsure about and finally purchased, only to have the legs be slightly different lengths. As they were sold out, I kept them and undid the hem so they now have a raw hem.

At the show similar jeans are shown with round toe lace up leopard pumps with a chunky heel. I have almost identical shoes from fall 2014/winter 2015 Vince Camuto as cold as it is I may wear that tonight—so it's definitely a wearable look for me! At the show its shown with a striped tee, yellow floral blazer and overcoat. I will wear with a striped sweater (tonight). Pics to follow on my IG.

  31. I went to the J Crew at Polaris today and the tweed with fringe and zippers jacket (E7274) is absolutely stunning...if I had my rewards card (which I still don't) it would have come home with me for sure. I also saw1 the sequin and crystal rose necklace (F0847) paired with the heather smoke tippi and the mirrored floral teddie pants which made for a gorgeous outfit! I ended up purchasing a pair of the Teddie pants in golden brandy, a pair of matchstick jeans (final sale) and a Jackie twinset...the sale section was pretty picked over and consisted mainly of tissue tees and turtlenecks.
