Take 40% Off J.Crew's Vacation Picks

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Anthro Blogger & GigiOfCa (in this post), who shared the following news/ email from J.Crew with us.

J.Crew is offering a new promotion: customers can take 40% off J.Crew's vacation picks for Women (click here), Men (click here) and Crewcuts. No code is necessary as the prices are automatically adjusted. This offer expires Sunday, June 16, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Prices as shown reflect discount. Valid on select styles at jcrew.com from June 14, 2013, 12:01am ET through June 16, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Discount not valid in J.Crew or J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Discount cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. Terms of discount are subject to change without notice.
Although I am sad to see the promo for the additional 30% off Summer Sale go, I am happy that a new promo is around.

I really like the Linen Tippi Whale Sweater (item 51452; $89.50) now $53.70 online. It is a super light sweater- perfect for Summer time. The sewn-in whales in the bright green look a lot more luxe in person than I was expecting it too. It is a real throw-back to J.Crew's critter collection of yore (which I am loving!) I was able to get this in my normal size of XS (as I feel it is true to size).
But why am I going on about this sweater... Right now it is $49.99 (before any discount) in J.Crew stores. Plus, there are a few things on that 40% off Vacation Picks list that were already on sale in stores too (like the Button-front dress in linen, Colorblock ponte dress, Lightweight terry tee in stripe, Cluster sequin tee, Multistripe popover, & Perfect shirt in crosshatch linen). So if you live near a B&M (brick & mortar) location, it might be worth checking out in person. (Or at the very least, calling in to see if they have the item and at what price it is ringing up.)

I am also curious about two things... First, I know the fine print states this promotion is exclusive to online only. However, do you think B&M stores will be offering it too? Second, will B&M stores still be offering an additional 30% off their Sale? J.Crew sent out an email this morning announcing the extra 30% off sale is still going on in stores and will be until this Sunday.

Will you be checking out J.Crew's Vacation picks? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? Does your local B&M store offer a similar promotion for Vacation Picks? Are they taking an additional percent of the Sale section? If so, please share! :)

  1. I wondered about exactly the same things- and I have the whale Tippi- $49.00- 30% off when I bought it - too!

  2. I am done buying things at Jcrew full price...esp. since they go on sale 31 days after I buy them in-store. I can't believe it's taken me this long to learn my lesson.

    1. I hear you, MS - I almost never purchase FP (actually, I do so rarely I can remember the last item that I did - the Nolita denim jacket) and almost never purchase in-store because of the 30 day return policy. Prices are too all over the place!

  3. I really like the Whale Tippi, I ended up getting it for $26 after my SA stacked promotions last week, it will go great with my matching green cotton pencil skirt from last year.

I'm going to my B&M later today and will double check the prices.

The only thing tempting me is the tulip print Liberty popover at $90 but I can't help but feel this might go to $99 with a 30-40% promo on to of that so debating about it.

  4. I received an email this morning from JC stating that B&M stores will be running the 30% off sale through Sunday. I hope to stop in at some point this weekend :).

  5. I went to my B&M last night (crossgates) huge sale selection and I got the leather pixie jodhpur pants in black size 0 (typically I take 00 but these seem to run small) for 36.00 (49.99 plus 30% off) it was a great deal considering these were 168 to start off. They had 2 more pairs of the pant in size 0 no other sizes though.

  6. Good Morning, Alexis! I bought the Whale Tippi from my B&M yesterday, as well as the Monarch Sweater and I was really happy getting the additional 30% off the already marked down prices. These were both items I noticed the minute they appeared on the website, so I couldn't help but feel a little smug that I was able to pay a fraction of what they originally retailed for.

J Crew isn't doing themselves any favors with the exorbitant first run pricing. Although the occasional item does sell out without being marked down, that's rare enough that they should adjust their strategy.

    1. ITA. It's ridiculous and it doesn't look like it's working out that well for them.

  8. I am going tomorrow to return the thistle print toothpicks for the 3rd time because the price dropped IN HALF in a matter of a week. I've reordered these twice! These games are not fun J.Crew, but I'll be damned if I don't get the best price! (I'm giving the money right back to them in one way shape or form, but at least I feel like I somewhat won!)

  10. Our local store (the first one) had a large sale section. Whale Tippis are not selling well in Vancouver. Hopefully I will visit tomorrow.

OT- Madewell is offering 20% off sale styles with free shipping code YESPLEASE through June 17. A few reviews here.

    1. Love that Madewell is running another promo, especially with free shipping on all orders! I picked up several of the Baggu bags during the last 20% off, and highly recommend them if they happen to get restocked this time around.

For those shopping the sale, I've updated the Madewell promo-priced items list (they receive the extra 20% off too), and posted it here on my blog.

  11. Thanks, to Gigi and Alexis. I did not get my email regarding this promo until I got back from my B&M. I would not have known my long time coveted Nolita jacket was on promo without your posts.

    1. As mentioned on another post. Alexis, my B&M price matched items from this promo that were not already on sale.

  12. Anybody happen to have a ratti electric kiwi tank in size 2? I ordered a size 0 (same size I have in the sailboat version) and it's too small. Not many sizes left on the website. I would love to trade with someone!

    1. Try the J Crew at Eastview Mall in Victor, NY. They had a bunch of sizes yesterday.

  13. I went by my local store today and got the A-line Ponte Dress in poppy. It was $79.99 + 30% off, so I got it for about $56. I love the fit and the length (37"). It fits very TTS, so I got my usual 2. This dress is still $128 on the website. The price discrepancies are so crazy.

    1. Seriously! I bought Minnies at a B&M today... $22. Still $89.50 online. It's insane how different the pricing game is.

    2. I bought a tippi for under $25, but it's still $69.99 on line. It is insane how different the prices can be. That is why you should do price comparisons.

  14. Thanks to a recommendation from another JCA on a different thread, I tried on and LOVE those geometric ankle toothpick jeans. I was frazzled b/c my kids were getting cranky, and I bought them, but I'm taking them back b/c they were FP and I just won't pay it for what they are. I couldn't resist grabbing one of the butterfly Tippis for like $24. It's merino, so I won't be wearing it til fall, but it really is super cute. Unfortunately, I had to rush through the store b/c of my kids, so I didn't get a chance to really comb through everything. Yet another JCA raved about a space-dyed t-shirt and they're right - it's fabulous. I also decided to wait on it b/c it was like $40 and it's a t-shirt. My VPS didn't mention that the t-shirts were on promo. I also really like the long-sleeve gauze top, but again, too expensive for what it is. I guess the theme for me is that I'm waiting out these pieces to get lowered to a more appropriate price for what they are.

  15. Thank you to all the sale alerts. I was able to get the whale tippi and the monarch tippi. My store did not have my size so my B&M VPS ordered them online using the store price plus 30% off. I also got the Stripe silk popover (item 42901), $39.99 plus 30% off compared to $99.99 online. Most sizes are available online so you can ask your SA/VPS to order online for you.

The Collection silk punk floral blouse (long sleeve shirt) which has been sold out for several weeks went on sale Wed, $129.99 plus 30% off. I used the WWFIFY and I was told that there is only one store that has my size. I received an email today with the UPS tracking number. Yey!

    2. Gigi - I got the cobalt for $39.99 before 30% off.

    3. I finally got to wear my silk punk floral blouse the other day and and I have to say it's one of my favorite silk J.Crew blouses, it's got a great cut and is less bulky than the Blythe blouses! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

    4. Malvina - Thank you for the fit information. I'm in love with this print and really hope the blouse fits better. The cut of the Swoop top (short sleeve version) did not work for my frame. Just need to wait a few more days for the blouse to arrive.

  16. All they got me for was too pairs of cheap shorts at 40% off. Didn't see anything else that I needed.

  17. Pretty boring selection of stuff. I won't be getting anything.

  18. Sigh. I lied, as usual. I picked up the Maritime blazer in grey and then I could not resist the Collection silk colorblock pant and I also picked up a Camp popover, even though it will be too big. If anything sucks, I'll take it back but at least I got free shipping. I am excited for the pants in particular! Really cheap on sale.

  19. Popped in to the local B&M to look at a bracelet that I thought was white (it was bone) and checked out the sale section. A couple of butterfly Tippi's in large sizes (the medium looked HUGE!) lots of short shorts, a few odd jackets and pants...not really much left. Didn't see anything I wanted to try on. Hopefully the next rollout will still be summer items...I would love to see some cute skirts appropriate for a tall older gal. Like me. Hee!
