"Thanks!" to many of you, including kattertot & Miss JR, (in this post), who shared the following news:
J.Crew is offering an additional 25% off merchandise at brick and mortar (B&M) stores. It's an additional 30% off if you open a J.Crew credit card (or use your existing card). This in-store promotion will run until Monday June 24, 2013.
I have a feeling this same offer will be offered online, at JCrew.com, starting tomorrow morning. (To coincide with when the new arrivals are expected to be online.)
This extra percent
off makes new arrivals look extra enticing! Plus, customers do
not have to worry about any purchase being "final sale". (A huge bonus
in my book!) Definitely worth a visit if you
live near a store or a call beforehand to find out.
Is your store offering this sale?
Will you be checking out the new arrivals? Are there any items
you are hoping to see or to get?
My B&M has most of the new arrivals on the floor today and eligible for this promo, plus a big stack of the new style guides!
ReplyDeleteThe Golden Pineapple Tee is adorable and would go with practically every bottom imaginable. Being linen, its super sheer though. So cute.
There is LOTS of deja vu with this smallish rollout, and I have lots of these looks in my closet from the first time around ... I'm happy they will look fresh when added to the rotation:)
The Pineapple Mini is a direct recycle from 2006 in a slightly lighter navy. It's very retro looking, and I couldn't really rock it then or now, even with the "wear with chambray shirt" trick! It's way more thrift store than classic on me.
The Desert Floral print is the identical palette to Waterfloral Pastiche from 2010, down to the mint green accents. It's a nice "indian summer" print with the shades of bronze and gold that can go into early fall.
The Skinny Utility Chino looks so much like the Cammy Pant and the Trouper Pant in olive. To my eye they look kind of dated because I wore the Cammy and Trouper a ton a couple years ago.
The sale section has diminished in size but there are still good deals to be had with the extra 25%, mostly sizes L and XL.
What items are available in the Desert Floral print?
DeleteMy B&M had the shorts and cami. I tried both of them and while I like the print I think $89.50 for a pair of 3" shorts is crazy. The cami is cut very small in the armholes, it was cutting through my flesh in my regular size. It is liked (I think in poly "chiffon").
DeleteI meant "it is lined". Grrrr..
DeleteThe new catalog is the worst I've seen in a long time. I don't care for the model in this one, can't quite say why.
ReplyDeleteI tried on the Skinny Utility Chino but did not like them very much. The back pocket flaps are buttoned rectangles and that is not a good look on me, attention there not needed.
There was a cute polka dot denim-y mini skirt. It has a lot of stretch to it.
The grey and white/off-white striped maxi skirt is very cute but runs big. I'm 5'4" and couldn't wear this in my regular size (huge) or without folding over the waistband once. It's a very wide waistband and it's shirred, so doubling it over adds a lot of bulk to the waist. Otherwise I'd have to have it hemmed 6" or so. I want this one to work for me but I'm not sure if it will. I sized down one size.
My word was Ebenezer lol! Scrooge panned the July catalog ;)
I agree, Cate. The catalog is just blah. I think there was one thing I sort of, kind of liked and that was it. I'm not interested in buying anything at this point. It feels like there is just the same reiteration from the June catalog except there's a different model.
DeleteOur stores are offering 30% off everything in the store (exception a few men's items).
ReplyDeleteSome more reviews here.
DeleteI just stopped in and didn't see anything new, but I think the gals were working on deboxing new things. Didn't see anything in sale or otherwise that I wanted to try on. Pretty blah if you ask me.
ReplyDeletewaiting for the same promo to hit on-line as well...
ReplyDeleteI went in today and was pleasantly surprised by the 30% offer on everything in the store. White jeans were on promo for $98, and then additional 30% on that, so I caved and finally got the ankle toothpicks in white, an item I have been eyeing for a while. It seemed like the right price, and the fabric is definitely better quality than the Gap. I tried on several other things but nothing I desperately had to have.
ReplyDeleteI should have mentioned the 30% off is for stores in Canada.
DeleteGrrr...I wish JCrew would educate their SAs about when a promo is and is not final sale. During the most recent 25%/30% promo, I bought a tippi that I had to return because the flattering lights in the dressing room lied to me about how great I looked in it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, an SA at Mall of America JCrew (who is one of their seasoned staff) was adamant that anything on clearance is ALWAYS final sale. His words to me were, after just barely refraining from rolling his eyes, "I will accept your return this one time, but you should know that for the future."
Then I pointed out the receipt doesn't even say final sale on it, and that online wasn't advertising the promo as final sale, and he did not have a good explanation other than "it just is final sale in the B&M".
At least he let me return the sweater, but his attitude turned me off enough that I didn't even care to browse the store afterwards.
Tell me, JCAs, am I in the wrong and it's always final sale in the stores, or is this another case of JCrew's inconsistency?
Muncher, the snitty SA was wrong. Incorrect. Erroneous. Inaccurate. Mistaken. Faulty.
DeleteWrong.
Just because a price ends in .99 does not make it final sale. It's sad when staff members are told that. Or misunderstand the policy. The receipt tells all. If it says final sale -- printed on the receipt under the item -- it's final sale. If it says anything else or nothing at all, it ain't final sale.
I can see how some might be confused recently as there was a period where there was a promo, but no final sale. Then the next promo was final sale. And then promo right after that was final sale. Regardless of any poor training or temporary confusion, his attitude is poor and it wasn't handled well. It's difficult to deal w/these things in the moment. You're in shock. Don't want to make a fuss, etc.. I have gone back and spoken w/management about issues, so you might consider doing that. After all, if any of them don't understand how to read a receipt, they need to be taught.
-- oops, meant to sale no final sale, final sale and then no final sale again...all within a period of a few weeks
DeleteSeveral of my SAs have said it was final sale when I was checking out but nothing on the signage or receipt says final sale so they'd have a hard time to refusing my return if I really wanted to return any of the sale items I've purchased. I agree his attitude was wrong, sorry but a big part of his job description is satisfying the customers and part of that includes taking back returns. I don't think it's inconsistency, J. Crew seems to be very clear about items being on sale and putting it in writing, I think some of these SAs are confused but he shouldn't have been rude about it.
DeleteMuncher,
DeleteYou're in the right. Not all promotions are final sales and not all final sales are promotions. That is why an employee must be well informed on the going ons in a store. From my experience with J Crew, final sale items are very clear. Even the on line receipt has an * to denote that item is final sale. At my store, when I'm purchasing a final sale item, it is always advertised by signage, the SA will inform me at checkout,, and the receipt has a huge red stamp on it saying, 'final sale'. The SA tells the customer time and again that it is final sale.
The SA you dealt with sounds like a snotty jerk. He probably doesn't like to be wrong and it was hard to admit he was mistaken so he decides to belittle you. I would talk to the manager about how you were treated. Hopefully, he's not the manager!
25%/30% promo is up online.
ReplyDeleteBut more importantly - the J.Crew gods have heard us....there is a WISHLIST, people! Just to the left of the shopping bag link. Hooray!!!
Ok, upon further investigation, it doesn't seem to really work yet...there's no 'add it to my wishlist' button on the items...but the 'add to bag' button is sorta messed up, so I'm hopeful it's coming.
DeleteI posted a screen cap of the of the wishlist page here.
Well, just had the classic run around with online chat and getting the discount applied to an order I made this morning. The online SA stated that it would take 2-3 statements for the discount to show but that I could call after the order ships to confirm the discount was applied? I kept trying to ask simple, clarifying questions but the answers were not. I think I am just going to reorder with the discount, because really it is easier and less stressful.
ReplyDeleteI stopped in the San Fran store on Market and didn't see anything new that caught my fancy. The sales section was smaller, but there were still plenty of toothpicks. I ended up grabbing the Tartine Tote (item 17521) in blossom/black colorblock. It was marked down to $149.99 before the 30% discount. I was beyond thrilled as it initially rung up full price, but I had them double-check. They had two more on the floor and a couple fully wrapped in the back in case others are interested.
ReplyDeleteSo I just made an order online (New Arrivals!) and used the promo code "thebest" to get 30% off the entire purchase without using a JC CC. I know this code was out there a few weeks ago, but it looks like it is working with this new promotion!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I am a long time lurker, first time poster. As a guy not all of the posts are geared towards me, but rest assured I am a jcrewaholic.
YoungJJ - JCA's are awe.some! Thanks for sharing that. Welcome, welcome to posting :)
DeleteYoungJJ: Thank you so much for letting us know about that code!!! :)
Deletethanks for posting the code , just used it right now !
ReplyDeleteSorry I think I should have posted this in the reply !
ReplyDeleteI got a few trinkets from the clearance section but didn't see any clothes I had to have.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone wants a bargain Biennial hobo in the camel color, F Street in DC has three marked to $230 before the 30% off.
