This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL/WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
I was at the downtown SF store Wednesday and bought the wool button down flair skirt in heather acorn-which I got so cheap. Online it sells for $108, but the sale price at that store is $69.99 plus I got the 25% promo and ended up paying only $52.49. I also bought the heart sweater in navy/green to match with my acorn skirt. *drool worthy* I noticed that the heart sweater was taken off online, was It due to the promo, which they'll bring back after...unless it totally sold out?! Good thing I bought mine. So If you want the heart sweater, and want the 25% promo, buy it at the store...Can't wait to wear mine this Christmas!!

ReplyDeleteI'll be there, bright and early tomorrow to make some returns.

ReplyDeleteI can only shop online, but I look forward to reading about the deals other ladies find in their local store. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, if anyone is interested in the Perennial Peacoat, I added a picture of the almost identical previous version of this coat to my blog here.
OT: I spied this little gem at Zara (on Black Friday special), and I think it's a dead ringer for the edie: http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/us/en/zara-us-W2011/151001/456037/SQUARE%2BLEATHER%2BMESSENGER%2BBAG
ReplyDeleteIt's leather, and there's free shipping.
Not going to the store or any mall. I've traveled enough online. *lol*
ReplyDeleteMost of the latest cuts rounded up at the top of this post.
sub:)
ReplyDeleteI don't plan on going to the mall this weekend, but have already shopped online at J.Crew with the promo. Also, on Wednesday I listed all the promo items that also receive the 25% off online (making the deal even better) in this post. :)
ReplyDeleteAvoiding the stores today. I might do some returns tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI might go. I have a few returns. Am I crazy?!
ReplyDeleteNot planning to go either...I did buy a coat online with the extra 25% off...hoping it ships!
ReplyDeleteJSR--Did you happen to notice the Sterling Skirt at the SF store? I am just wondering because that store was recently expanded and has a lot more than the Corte Madera store. It's a shot in the dark but thought I'd ask...Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI just came back from black friday shopping: H&M and Abercrombie were unbelievably crowded, there were a few people at J. Crew (unfortunately there was no other promo besides 25% off $150+), Ann Taylor was practically deserted. Hope you all had a great thanksgiving/black friday. :]
ReplyDelete@ Patsystone: No I didn't see the Sterling Skirt. I ordered that online, and the size I got was a tad tight on me, I had to return it, too bad they sold out on the heather acorn color online. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteMadewell had unbelievable good deals, I picked Alexa Chung for madewell business shrit, peony shirt, both are 100% silk, both were under $20! The red silk dress was marked down to $40 and I had to have it.
ReplyDeleteAlso bought a sweater dress ($20),some denim boy shirt($15), and a coat ($65)!
Their penny loafers were $40 after discount, had to try hard to resist that one!
Shopped Anthro's crazy 50% off sale instead and got a few nice bargains!
ReplyDeletealso shopped Anthro's crazy 50% sale items and got a gorgeous sweater for $74 from $278!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm very tempted to order the Isabel cashmere sweatshirt, but as I just ordered two cashmere sweaters from Brooks Brothers, an Aran wool sweater from Lands End Canvas and an argyle cashmere cardigan from Lands End, plus a cashmere tee from the last J.Crew promo, I suppose I should pass on more sweaters right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to the store but I'd like to place an online order for the Valentina animal print pumps. Can anyone tell me if I should size up or take my normal size?
ReplyDeleteI did end up going. The store had a decent amount of customers but absolutely noone at the checkout. Hm... So, I just grabbed another one of those striped henleys b/c they are so amazingly cozy. But I was so so tempted to get a coat. There were several versions on sale for $229. Add in the 25% off and it's one pretty good deal. But I ordered the red Stadium Cloth Trench online so I passed. I may be sorry I didn't pick one of the coats up.
ReplyDelete@Jessie- which madewell store is this??
ReplyDeleteJust peeked inside to see if there was a better sale, but sadly there wasn't. Ended up spending money at two different resale shops...on J Crew items, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI got a wildcat wool scarf, mona tortoise shoes and leopard tote. Sadly, the shoes seem a bit tight and uncomfortable. I took them back tonight. In store is 25% off as well, and I couldn't find anything. It was buzzkill. Review and pics here:

CaptainCrew: I have the valentina animal print pumps. I loooove them so much. I found them to be about a half size large though. They would slip off my heels when I walked. Rather than return, I took them to my shoe guy and he put these inserts in the soles which sort of keep your feet placed toward the back of the shoe and problem solved. But just avheads up for you.
ReplyDeleteoh, and thanks jsr for the info!
ReplyDeleteCaptainCrew I bought those shoes on Wednesday. I took an 8.5, I veer between 8.5 and 9 in shoes.
ReplyDeleteThey are lovely shoes and the leather lining makes them very comfortable!
Anyone from Seattle ?
ReplyDeleteCan anyone confirm shoes available at U Village store ? What about downtown or Bellevue stores? thanks so much... Carolyn from Vancouver.
Thank you patsystone and DaniBP for the Valentina sizing info. My size is waitlisted but I ordered anyway. I hope they ship.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone heard if there will be a promo for Cyber Monday yet? Since the current promo expires tomorrow I have my fingers crossed. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteUnknown,
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure they have shoes at the U Village store in Seattle. Downtown has cashmere but can't recall if they have shoes. I am doing a return there today and will try and take a look to see.

ReplyDeleteAvoiding the malls this weekend. I really hope they come up with something good for cyber Monday!
ReplyDeleteI would be really surprised if there is a different promo for Mon. Dear Leader already doesn't like markdowns and it probably pains to have the promo that ran this week. After all, it's the 3rd 25% sitewide we've seen in the past 2 months. If I recall correctly, there wasn't even a Black Friday special last year. If I were betting, I'd put my money on an extension of the current promo thru Mon.
ReplyDeleteSE MOM
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reply. Do you mean then that the u village store will not have cashmere ? Do all the B&M stores carry purses ? Does the Bellevue store stack up to the two others...I don't know if I have time for all three...but I would love be able to check each stores sale rack.
What do you think of the MADEWELL store at u village? Is it too old for someone in their forties??
**does anyone know if the kinley bag is still availble? I may have the name wrong it was a two-tone satchel like bag. Thanks in advance
Carolyn from Vancouver
**** The bag was called the Kirtley (SAW IT ONE ONE MORE SHOPPING BLOGS SITE.
ReplyDeleteif anyone is into purses like I am check out her review of the biennal bag ( spelling ?) I am not impressed for the $$ What about anyone else...have you seen ? thanks AGAIN. Carolyn
from Vancouver.
I was there today and wandered around, but basically just went to pick up my black Friday order (paisley skirt, orange bennet chinos, and pink striped thermal tee). Plenty of people shopping and buying. Huge sale section, but I didn't really look at specifics. There were plenty of paisley skirts, though. My ps said he figured there'd be another promo, since there had already been so many. And the next shipment is focused on gifts. I also got the new holiday catalog and it's mainly the same items. There are 2 new cotton cafe capri colors - warm jade and casablance blue. I like them both, but am leaning towards the green. And the Hutton trouser in purple wool flannel look divine, but so is their price at 245. I hope they make the cafe trouser in the same purple.
ReplyDeleteI was at South Coast Plaza early on Friday morning. I scored some incredible deals at Madewell- 2 dresses, widelegger jeans, a scarf, silk blouse, and an Alexa Chung wool sweater all for an extra 50% off and another extra 20% off because of the buy more save more promo. J.Crew had disappointingly slim pickins- I had to get the bf to buy 2 more pairs of boxers to get the 25% off discount. I got the patent leopard flats, 4 boxers, and socks for $100 with my rewards discount. Personally, I felt J.Crew's promo was really weak this year. Hopefully the post Christmas sales are better!
ReplyDeleteI was really thinking of going, but I decided to reign in my wallet by avoiding the stores.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I was not going to buy a new coat this season, but then the 25% off came up and some of the coats were still marked down from the outerwear promo; how could I resist..?!
I wonder if the outerwear will go to go back to full price after the promo.
Unknown,
ReplyDeleteOnly the downtown Seattle store carries cashmere. I did see today that they carry some shoes (saw mostly heels on display). They had a pretty good size sale selection.
The Madewell store at University Village is a nice store and right next to J.Crew. I don't think you are too old for Madewell! I am older than you and I would wear it but it doesn't fit me (I am short and wear petite sizes mostly).
I can't really think of something that the Bellevue Square store carries that the U Village or Downtown stores would not.
A few J Crew bargains on Net-A-Porter in this post. I.e. the blackwatch blazer is $161. Sizes 0, 2 & 6 remain.
ReplyDeleteThe Honolulu store has a few goodies left in the sale section as of this morning. Most notable are:
ReplyDeleteA couple of Jester argyle turtleneck sweaters in the navy/tan in size S.
A few pairs of the Cafe Capri in the Houndstooth print (worn by the lovely Michelle Williams in the recent Vogue Marilyn Monroe shoot) in sizes 6, 8, etc.
A few boy shirts in the Quincy tartan, sizes 6, 8.
Store No. (808)949-5252.
I think the promos will keep coming and get better as the season goes along. Just keep waiting and stalking your favorites for the best prices. I no longer play the return/rebuy game. Too much work and no fun. I think we are going to see some awesome deals as the season continues.....
ReplyDeleteI scored some great deals on the Silk Blythe Shirt Dress, the End on End Perfect Shirt with French cuffs in Blue and the LIquid Silk Skirt! The in store price on these items is great and with the promo I scored each under $40.00.
ReplyDeleteJust posted a review of the Caily Blazer and Pants HERE
Scoopneck top in wildcat review in this post.
ReplyDeletea follower of this blog but first time to write.. thank you everyone for all the tips! had a question for the community. went to the 5th avenue store in new york and got a few sweaters (colorblock mockneck navy/eggplant, isabel in grey, and the hadley in pink, which was 49.99 in-store). they honored the online price for the isabel (which was cool), but refused to add my student discount. The cashier was sooo rude when she told me that! I know it must have been a long weekend for everyone working there, and everyone was so grouchy and fake i was about to leave all the stuff and walk out. did anyone try to get their edu discount with this promo? thank you!
ReplyDeleteOT: if I purchased an item at a retail store, can I send it back (with receipt) with some other purchased-online items? I just know I won't make it back to a store by the 30-day mark. TIA for any advice!
ReplyDeleteSome of my shopping spree details here.
ReplyDeletenadia, the comments here in the past have said that you should be able to get your student/educator discount on top of any other promo they have in the store. I would go back and insist on a price adjustment. I would also mention this SA's name to the store manager.
ReplyDeleterose, thanks a lot! I will drop by next week and ask for it.
ReplyDeleteNadia, Typically they will stack the discounts, however, on promos they usually don't. I was told by my SA (and a very nice one)that they would not stack the discount on these purchases because it was a storewide promo. Wondering if anybody else was able to get it stacked. If so, I've got some price adjustments coming my way.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get anything at the stores--the in-store selection has been boring me this fall. I like to check out the special pieces/colors online instead. Just ordered a jersey lomellina one-piece swimsuit for $30 and the shimmer skirt for $188 (down from $400). Oddly, the shimmer skirt was showing up as final sale when I put it in my cart. I called CS and they said it wasn't a glitch and that some items are final sale (???), but they could notate my order that I can return it because it's the holidays. I wonder if this is another case of CS not being familiar with the policies or if they are randomly keeping certain items final sale right now.
ReplyDeletenadia, typically with these store-wide promos, the student/teacher discount is not added on. However, my ps said that an sa mistakenly told 2 different customers that they could stack and so those 2 customers were allowed. My ps said he didn't know if corporate would say anything, but at least they honored that sa's word. If there is an in-store promo, say 25% off on scarves, then they will stack the student/teacher discount. HTH
ReplyDeletenadia: As BonnieMc and math teacher said, the educator/student discount is not allowed with the YOURGIFT promo going on now.
ReplyDeleteAppGal: Yes, you can return an in-store item with your online returns. I usually make a copy of my receipt to send in the box with the item and keep the original for myself. HTH! :)
ReplyDeleteFab Florida Mommy: hooray! Thanks for letting me know. Now just crossing my fingers that the pckg makes it there within the 30 day mark :)
ReplyDeleteAppGal: You're welcome! Just be sure to use one of the UPS return labels and drop it off at the UPS store (or give it to your UPS guy) tomorrow. The package should get there by Wednesday or Thursday and they are usually really good about doing the returns right away.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone. If anyone sees a black Edie purse in store please email me at shekesl@interact.ccsd.net. I will do a charge send. They have now sent me TWO of these purses with defects, and I don't mean scratches. The 2nd one was all smooshed in on one side and the leather is all wrinkled. TIA. :)
ReplyDeletei know this is OT, but I wasn't where to post it. If you use code W986 at BodenUSA.com, it's 30% off and free shipping, till Nov 28 :)
ReplyDeleteOT: Kate Spade Sample Sale going on now. More details in this post. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyone have thoughts on the Minimalist Mockneck sweaters, size-wise? I am being asked for my Xmas wishlist and I'd love for somebody else to buy it for me, but not entirely sure of sizing as I have JC sweaters in both S and M. Any help would be appreciated!
ReplyDeleteBonnieMC, Math Teacher, and FFM,thank you so much for the informed info. I became so paranoid with jcrew because of the inconsistency between online and BM prices that I always feel they are trying to trick us!
ReplyDeleteCagliara67 the mockneck I felt was on the smaller size. I usually take XXS or XS, and I bought an XS but I would have gone for an S if they had it in the store..
Could anyone who has recently seen the Cafe Capris in Houndstooth in the sale section please let me know what the sale price currently is and if B&Ms are having any additional % off?
ReplyDeleteTIA! :)
Nadia, I had the same issue yesterday at the Fifth Avenue store! I asked if they would allow me to stack my student discount since I did so at the Madison Avenue store the last time they had a 25% off $150 promo, and the manager came over without acknowledging me with so much as a glance and told the cashier expressly not to honor my student discount. When I tried explaining to him that I was able to stack discounts just a couple of weeks earlier, he said, "This is a black Friday only promo we've never run before" and walked away as I was trying to explain it was the same 25% off $150 promo they just ran. It was so rude! I was actually so insulted that I placed a phone call to customer service after I left the store. This is the second time in a row I've had a poor experience at the Fifth Avenue store. To be honest, I much prefer going to Madison Avenue or Prince Street even though I live by the Fifth Avenue store. They may be smaller stores but they have much nicer and more helpful salespeople!
ReplyDeleteOn a completely different note, has anyone seen Jenna's v-neck cardigan on sale in any colors besides heather graphite, heather henna, heather dark grape and a pale pink color that seems to be in stores only? I'm in love with this cardi, and at $39.99 in stores, I want to grab as many as I can. Hoping to connect with vibrant flame, ivory, black or navy but not sure if those are on sale.
Beyond the Blue - Last price for houndstooth capri #49396 was $79.99 on 11/14 at b&m. Haven't heard of any lower. Stores are runnin 25% off $150 or more, I believe.
ReplyDeleteNadia - thank you for the info! I will nudge my Santa towards the M, I think.
ReplyDeleteAnyone hear about any Cyber Monday internet deals?
ReplyDeletegigiofca- Thanks very much! :)
ReplyDeletecagliari67 I purchased the cagliari67 I purchased the color block minimalist sweater in the navy/eggplant and took a small. I think it was TTS. It definitely is a lovely sweater compared to all the acrylic blends. HTH.
ReplyDeleteThanks Samo! I get Boden e-mails, but I didn't know about that promo.
ReplyDeletecyber monday 2011 has turned me into a monster. I have a full cart in every store I think may have an awesome deal, and I'm just waiting for it to be 12 am... sigh.
ReplyDelete@laurenphd no problem, boden seems to have their most recent updates about promos on their facebook page.
anyone seen this??not sure if it's legit. jcrew sample sale in nyc??
http://whsale.com/usa/j-crew-sample-sale-ny-nov-2011
To the Unknown poster from earlier, the Kirtley satchel is no longer available on the site. There are a lot on ebay for around $200 though.

ReplyDeletesamo - Alexis (blog owner) shared news of the NY sample sale in this post.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see what the in-store price was for Adrianna Buckle Pumps? And if so, at which store? Thanks!
ReplyDelete@gigiofca Thanks!! :)
ReplyDeleteDara, I am sorry to hear that you also had this terrible experience. I really wanted to call customer service, so glad you did! I have to say that I really dislike most SAs at all New York locations, and on Saturday everyone at the 5th ave store was so unfriendly or fake it was pretty amazing. I attributed it to long hours and Black Friday. But all this makes me think that it must be a jcrew policy issue i.e. the way jcrew offers their SAs compensation or something of the sort. If SAs are not treated right, they will hate their jobs (that is us, the customers).
ReplyDelete@Dara -- those were the only Jenna v-neck colors I saw at my store as well. Wish they were also marked down online!
