JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Yes, plz help me with the merino strobe sweater! I'm not clever enough to embed a link but I did make a blog post about my ... ummm ... situation ;) http://atrailofsequins.blogspot.com/2011/11/what-was-i-thinkin.html

And if somebody wants to teach me how to embed a link, I promise this old dog will try really hard to learn ...

  6. Tiffany Rose,
I used this webpage called "HTML links" which explains the code.

Now I use this webpage for just the code reference.

  7. WMM, I am so going to wear green with mine. I love pink and green together. It's certainly a loud combo, but... I work in an "anything goes" office and take full advantage wearing all my J.Crew inspired outfits, hehe. I'm a lawyer and I know someday I'll have a job where I have to wear a suit everyday... enjoying this before I am forced to wear black, navy and gray every day :(

A nice yellow might look good, too.

  8. Tiffany rose, why not just wear black or gray leggings (or pixie pants) with boots? you could even throw on a long sleeved v neck tee underneath.

  9. Anyone want to share ideas for styling the royal paisley blouson dress?

I like everything about it besides the spaghetti straps because I *cannot* go bra-less and I hate strapless. I'm keeping it, though, because it's thin enough that I can wear a sweater over it so it basically looks like a skirt. Pairing it with a black merino crewneck and black tights seems winter-appropriate.

My SA suggested wearing it with a purple Jenna cardigan and a skinny belt, which also looked good.

  10. Rocking an oldie in my closet: (what I think is, but correct me if i'm wrong, fellow JCAs!) the palmera ruffle top

  11. Looking for suggestions on how to wear the Scoopneck Silk Blouse aka Talia blouse in wreath. I was wondering how trouser jeans would look or maybe pair it with some Matchstick cords in color Ecru. Any ideas would be helpful.

  12. pathos - thanks!!

J.CrewJD - I think you're right, keeping it simple and casual is the way to go.

  13. Jane - that is the Frances cami. The Palmera had what looks like shredded strips of fabric "inspired by the wispy leaves of a palm frond." ;)
