JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  2. Just received my cashmere long sleeve T is heather jungle, which is gorgeous (bought it to go with my hope-it-comes-soon-jewel jacqurds) but am wondering if folks have other sugegstions for wearing this besides the ubiquitous jeans?

  3. So I love my blackwatch plaid number two pencil skirt... Just beyond an all black or white top- with black tights and shoes. I am clueless how to expand Any creative suggestions?

Thanks I'm alway reading posts for ideas- figured it was time I start contributing :)

  4. Please help me with my henna flair skirt. The only idea I have is to pair it with a white shirt (boring!) or cream sweater. It's been sitting in the closet with the tags on for a month!

The other problem I have with it is that I'm not sure what to wear underneath it. Black tights? Nylons?

  5. WMM, you could ask chris.rocc for her blackwatch plaid skirt. I think those two would go well together. A navy skirt of pants would work well, as would anything that has that green colour on the bottom.

chris.rocc, I think a Silk scoopneck blouse in the wreath colour would look nice with that skirt. If you wanted to lighten up the colour, try something camel to see if it works.

Rosie: navy, black, beige would all work nicely with that colour, IMO. Tights in the same colour as the top are the easiest way out of this dilemma.

  6. Rose - you are too funny - and brilliant! I actually have a beautiful talbots black watch suit from last season - the one that looks like a hairy Chanel suit (i know-not a good image, yet lovely!) which I think would be great! thanks muchly! chris.rocc - you can keep your beautiful new skirt! :-)

  7. Oops! I meant to say "a navy skirt OR pants."

WMM, glad you thought it was funny. Let us know how it worked out for you. :)

  8. thanks, Rose! I'll try those. I always forget how impractical (i.e., COLD!) it is to wear skirts in the dead of winter!

  9. WMM, what does heather jungle look like in real life? Does it have a blue undertone or a yellow one?

    Thanks!

  10. I recently bought the selvedge chambray shirt (l/s) and love it. I'm considering picking up the short sleeve version as well (maybe my addictive personality??) Is there any good reason to own both? I can always roll up the sleeves of the l/s one, so is there anything I really need the short sleeve version for that I can't do with the l/s version? thanks guys :)

  11. Chris.rocc - I wear last year's teal green merino sweatshirt with the black watch skirt or the Tippi sweater in navy or black. Just about anything in a dark green, black or navy that doesn't have a lot of volume around the waist would work. Love that skirt!

  12. Jen - I would say it is more of a blue undertone, since it looks really good on me and I can only favour jewel tones and blue-based colours. It is truly a lovely shade and I am actually contemplating ordering the matching scarf. It reminds me of a beautiful christmas green, if that makes any sense...How it is appears in the catalogue is spot on. I always have trouble with my computer screen and am typically surprised by the colours that arrive!

  13. Can the flair skirt in floating rose be dressed up enough to wear to a wedding? I haven't gotten mine yet, am anxiously awaiting its arrival.
