Nothing for me with the sweater promo.
ReplyDeleteIf JCrew was offering free shipping no minimum for Cyber Monday, I would buy but I have an inbox full of % off AND free shipping from many other retailers right now!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the free shipping code on a $100 order, Rose! I was disappointed by the Cyber Monday offering, but still bought three sweaters anyways.
ReplyDeletePass on this code. Hopefully I can pick up the sweaters I want during the next 30% off sale.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the free ship on $100 code too!
Oh, I am torn! There are some sweaters I would like to get for my DH for Christmas and normally I would be all over this promo, but we're going to be in NYC this weekend and I always prefer to shop in person when I'm in the states. I'll have to decide whether the discount savings is significantly better than the tax & duty added to Canadian orders.
ReplyDeleteCheck out Michele Obama wearing the Merino sequin crochet cardigan (2nd post down) on http://mrs-o.org/ Now on sale for 99.99 with the additional 25% off.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Genny. The $100 FS code may come in handy, though, as I do need to buy some gifts for my mom. Beats a $150 minimum. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteElaine,
ReplyDeleteYes, the $100 code is very nice. I did think of that too:) Sure beats the $150 like you said!
I really wish they'd do a no minimum FS. There's one sweater I want, but I don't feel like spending extra to get to the FS.
ReplyDeleteClicquot- you may want to call to see if any of the swathers DH wants from b&m to see if they are online only and that might help you decide too!
ReplyDeleteI'm still not sure there are some turtleneck sweaters I have my eye on though!
ReplyDeleteDream zip pocket cardis in warm taupe and dried papaya are winking at me... oh, dear!
ReplyDeleteSame here, nothing for me...

ReplyDeleteNetaporter is having an end of season sale and many J. Crew items are included such as the Langford Oxfords in smoky graphite for $138.

Yawn. Not very enticing for Cyber Monday, JCrew.
ReplyDeleteI don't see any sweaters that I need to have for myself or for gifts. Managed to squeak in a TURKEY order last night so I think I'm good for a bit. Anyone know when there may be new holiday arrivals online?
ReplyDeleteThank you Rose and Alexis for sharing the free shipping code!
Just fired off an email to CS re: length on cashmere sweaters. Would love to snag (pun intended, hahah) a few in the lovely colours that are unique to JC. Can't bring myself to look at their merino sweaters anymore after reading about the issues with them using mulesed wool... Anyone heard back from Mickey yet about this issue? Would feel SO much better buying from JC if they'd address this issue quickly.
ReplyDeleteOT: Last week someone posted that the Jaspe sequin slouchy sweatshirt, priced at 99.99, was back on the jcrew website in all colors/sizes. Within minutes, they were all gone. Now, there are several on ebay for 249.99. Is there any way to stream/monitor these helpful postings so that ebay price gougers don't snag coveted items? Again, super sorry for the OT post.
ReplyDeleteRynetta phd- that was me! I am still amazed by how fast the sweatshirts went! How unfair of people to price gauge them on ebay! Mine should be heremtomorrow or Wednesday....
ReplyDeletejcrewlove,
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad that you got yours at a great price! I just wish that I had seen your post sooner!!!!
I saw the sequined Jaspe's online at about 5am EST and IMO, they didn't really start to move until they were posted about on JCA almost 6 hours later (or maybe that was just a coincidence).
ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate but sometimes we just have to keep information to ourselves - in the past, JCA's have gotten burned by eBay resellers (remember the TJMaxx shoes thing?) and of course, by JC itself. It's a double-edged sword; I love this community because of the sharing and would hate to see that stop, but as long as it's open to all then there's the chance that people will take advantage where they can. It's a judgment call.
Should I not have posted about the sweatshirts? I'm sorry if it prompted resellers to find them! I just got so excited about them and figured some other jcas would be too :) I had no idea about other problems that have happened- I'm sorry everyone if that was the case!
ReplyDeleteCloset Crisis, I missed the convo-what is "mulesed" wool? This promo is lame, last night I was about to buy a cashmere sweater with it, thinking it was 25% off of $99, but it's prices as marked, apparently. None for me.
ReplyDelete@jcrewlove: don't feel bad, you can't control how other people use info, besides just speaks to how JC having no idea on what will sell and what won't.
ReplyDeleteEveryone's been raving about the Arrow sweaters for months now, and yet they are still available on line in all sizes and most of the colours. in this case, just chalk it up to JC not realizing what a popular item they have on their hands and making too many/few of them.
Rynetta-
ReplyDeleteThere were size L available (light grey) this am. Try doing a search periodically. What sz are You? I also was lucky and mine should be here today I think...
@CharlotteSometimes: A recap - I googled "mulesed wool" and read the wikipedia page on the practice, after reading about JC using this type of fibre in one of last week's daily threads.
ReplyDeleteTurned my stomach, as well as a few other JCA's. Someone's tried writing Mickey about this issue but got the "out of office" reply.
Other posters then said that the Gap companies, AT and Talbots do NOT use this type of wool.
Basically just waiting to hear JC confirm if they use this type of fibre, and will work on phasing it out of their products.
So, JC wool sweaters are out of bounds for me until further notice. Sounds like this year's cashmere is better than last, so if I were to plunk down my money, it'd be for the cashmere sweaters.
Does anyone know if the 25% off sweaters will work on the red phone with red phone free shipping?
ReplyDeleteAlso, OT, but has anyone tried the Double-cloth Salon Coat? Any thoughts?
jcrewlove, no need to apologize - I think Closet Crisis summed it up perfectly. :) My thought is that, if a topic starts to get a lot of buzz on JCA, take advantage before it's gone (except Arrow sweaters, apparently) - and that applies to items and promos as well.
ReplyDeleteOk :) thanks! I wasn't sure if it was some unwritten rule I didn't realize!
ReplyDeleteIf I don't end up loving mine I'll post here for you guys instead of returning!
Closet Crisis, did it turn your stomach because of how animals are treated? I don't want to go to the wiki page if that's the case, I am super sensitive and won't be able to get the animal stuff out of my head. If that's it, down is also pure evil in how it's harvested. If it's not animal torture, I will go read it.
ReplyDeleteAnn Taylor sizing, I am guessing large? I am usually a small to xs in Loft items, is AT even larger sized due to its target audience? I am considering a cashmere sweater from them, guessing 40% off is pretty good.

ReplyDeletejcrewlove,
ReplyDeletePlease don't apologize! I just asked because I don't want other people to miss out on coveted items, that's all. I am SO not saying this is your fault, I promise!!! And, Closet Crisis and Silver_lining, I think you're both right. Thanks SO much, Lauren, I am a size large!!!!
CharlotteSometimes, my experience with AT tops and sweaters this season is that the arms are super tight - so tight that I can't wear them. I take an XS in everything/every brand, and while the body of AT sweaters fit me in XS, some of the sweaters have such tight sleeves I can't even get them on (and I have pretty thin arms).
ReplyDeleteRynetta-
ReplyDeleteI ordered Smalls...def would have offered to you if they did not fit.
Keep checking!! Godd Luck!
MDPA, good to know, I hate tight sleeve syndrome! Grrrrrr. Ok, I will try their small, maybe a petite. I am not a petite, but some of their cuts look long.
ReplyDeleteGrr. The Tweed Tatum jacket is adorable. Total love.
ReplyDeleteThe Dock Stripe Perfect Shirt I ordered to go with it like they show it online? I don't know. They shipped a pajama shirt instead.
I have to second J. Crew's somewhat odd inventory/ordering control. I finally ordered the Arrow sweater in the last promo, after all the great reviews, and I paid around $60 (less than half original price). But, I liked the merino sparklegate cardigan from the last new arrivals but thought for sure I'd get a deal on it after Christmas, and now it is sold out. Surprising.
ReplyDeleteCloset Crisis: I think they made a TON of the Arrow sweater, which is why so many of them are showing up at factory stores.
ReplyDelete@Charlottesometimes: I'd say the wiki page is probably the most neutral-toned article you can read on the subject. nothing graphic but enough info given that I find the practice disturbing.
ReplyDeleteThere are alternatives to this method, and if an entire country (Sweden) and other major retailers can ban use of fibre sourced in this manner, don't see why JC can't do the same.
@AppGal: that's what I figured, but isn't it odd that there was very little attempt to style this sweater in the catalogs and splash pages on the site? All the kudos and styling ideas came from you and other JCA's. I don't think I would have looked at it twice if it wasn't for you gals and your great outfits.
ReplyDeleteCloset Crisis - because of last week's discussion, I've decided no J. Crew wool sweaters for me until they buy their wool from humane suppliers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Elizabeth! I got the Oxfords from Net-A-Porter right before they sold out! Such a good deal since they are full price here! :)
ReplyDeleteClosetCrisis and others, so glad to hear others are on the no-mulesed-wool bandwagon. I am, too. And I've emailed J.Crew's customer service and Mickey (which consequently was automatically copied to a woman named Tracey). Haven't heard back at all.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on how the Stadium Cloth Peacoat and the Ever Peacoat compare in fit?
ReplyDeleteI tried on the Stadium Cloth in a store today and was surprised that a four fit best (going by the size chart I'd expect to be an 8). Unfortunately the color/style combo I want (4p, baked squash) is sold out, so I'm looking at the Ever in henna but have no idea what size to order.
I think the price on the Arrow will go down even lower after Christmas. I was waiting for that but with the discussion of how JCrew inappropriate gets it wool I am leaning towards not buying it at all now! I guess this would apply to JCrew's wool jackets as well????
ReplyDeleteSomeone posted that even major retailers like Talbots gets their wool humanely.
I am not sure that there is a humane way to get wool, and surely most retailers do not do so as most source from China, which is a nightmare on all fronts of animal rights. I hope those of you against mulesed wool also refuse down, because it's easily one of the worst offenders.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea how I might be able to find a JCrew item from a couple of years ago?
ReplyDeleteI have a long merino wool sweater, tan with thin white stripes. My housemate was doing some wash and threw in my (dry-clean only) sweater as well, and it has now shrunk to child-size. I LOVE this sweater and desperately want to replace it. Any suggestions??
Here is an image of the sweater in another color:
