Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  2. I didn't go, but always like reading about the deals JCA's got!

  3. Did a quickie mall visit this weekend and ran into JC to look at the Twisted Pearl necklaces in person -- I had all 3 of them in my cart online and then decided to go see if I liked them for sure. So glad I did! I love them; they're an everyday/basic-type necklace for me, as I wear a necklace to work pretty much every day.

I had no clue about the $10 off necklaces, so I was stoked when they rang up at $32.50 each, and almost fainted when I realized that wasn't the 25% comiing off! Also finally broke down and got the navy dot flouncette blouse, still at $59.99, but the extra 25% off made it worth it. I think if I can keep it from getting stained or snagged, it will be a longtime keeper.

Also picked up the feather tee in a color I hadn't seen, ivory tee with dark orange feather. It might look nice with my Ryder jacket in the red/orange Tomato color. Love it alone too; really like the neckline on that tee!

Same deal with price, normally I'd have passed at $24.99 for a tee but the extra % off made it OK.

Finally, I grabbed these 2 darling little pins I also had not seen before -- just found them online, they're called 'feather flower pins' [32560] ... I'd add something like this to a basic top, like to the strap of a favorite or perfect tank in the summer, just for that little extra something. They were down to $4.99 in my store (before discount, woot) so I bought both colors. of course they're still FP online -- $22.50, gak! Cute but not THAT cute, eeeps. But they are very delicate, maybe that's when they're being dumped?

Last but not least, I was elated to unearth a sequined pencil skirt in the sale section for $29.99 as someone here had noted last week (it's still $118 online, wtf?) ... unfortunately it was at least one size too big for me, if not 2 sizes. I can sometimes get away with a 12, but this one bagged in the ass so incredibly badly that I knew I couldn't buy it. And I didn't see seams running up the sides to where it could be taken in easily. If anyone sees it in an 8 or a 10 at their B&M for $29.99 and it's not totally destroyed, can you let me know? [elaine dot hamill at gmail dot com] Hoping to wear it with a simple tee for my husband's xmas party next month. :)

I also picked up 2 new perfumes, and I love them both. Balenciaga Paris and Kate Spade Twirl. Both very different but both lovely! And it was double points at Nordstrom too, yay!

I'd been very good for a very long time, so I feel pretty good about my haul. :)

  4. OT but the holiday catalog will be out in store this week. I saw it last night and I am really excited about some things in there!

  5. Went to the store in Durham, NC. Found nada. Disappointing.

But I bought several items and Talbots and bought a leather coat so the long drive to the mall was not a wasted trip.

I just miss the JCrew of old. Sorry to sound like a broken record but I just looked at the store and it was so depressing.

I love to see the pictures of items others find though and read their posts so that is fun!

  6. I will agree with you there, Genny -- I freely admit that when I went in to the Southpoint store, absolutely nothing caught my eye. I proceeded directly to the back of the store to trawl through the sale section!

I wish I had looked for the Traversa cardigan in the Orchid Shadow color. It's s/o online now. And yes, I want to be lame and copy JC's styling of the flouncette blouse. Ha!

I don't suppose you ventured to the new Crewlet in Mebane? I'm going to give it a little time for the initial traffic to die down before I make an attempt.

  7. Elaine,

Did you hear the report this morning of the insane traffic at Mebane? I guess the parking lot was entirely full 30 minutes before any stores opened and lines that wrapped around most stores doors just to get into them.

I did not realize there is a JCrew outlet there though. Usually Alexis posts when there is one so I just thought there wasn't. I got an email from Talbots that they have an outlet there; none from JCRew of course! Now that I know there is one I will probably go sometime--just wish it was closer. I rarely get out to Crabtree or Southpoint due to my work/family schedule and travel but maybe someday:) It always seems when I go they do not have in stock what I want and I have to order online anyway.

I go to Asheville all the time now the past year but never have time to stop at the Arden Clearance center. Someday. Maybe.

  8. Elaine,

    PS
I did not see the feather pins you mentioned--they sound really pretty and you got a great price-- but did not feel like digging throught a mess. I mean there was a huge pile of random sale items at the store on this table. Pants, tops, sweaters all thrown in a heap. I had never seen a JCrew like that and I used to shop Mall of America weekly when I lived in MN.

  9. Jcrewlove- ohhhhh ahhhhh - can't wait to see that holiday catalog! ;) Any previews? Did they say when it will be online? Thanks!! :)

  10. Mack Let me see if i can try scanning anything! It will be in store on Thursday i believe! There is a toggle coat that I am dying over but it is $595 so Im not sure my wallet will be happy with that one :) Excited to see it all IRL Though of course!

  11. I got a heather Traversa for $29.99 -- I like my orchid shadow one so much that I decided to get another color.

Nothing else was really tempting me, which is good, since I spent the rest of my money at the Gap 40% off thing on Saturday!

  12. I found the Glen Plaid Minnies for $29.99... not sure if this is news. They had at least 5-7 pairs and I saw sizes 0 and 6. Did not look at all pairs to see what size they were though.

It is MADDENING that they are full price online yet $29.99 in the store, basically %75 off. I never buy full price anyway but it is completely unfair for people who do not have a B&M nearby and don't know that they are being ripped off.

  13. Genny, I sure did see that news in the paper about the traffic at those outlets! My guess is I won't get near them until well after the holidays. I just can't bear that kind of situation. I'm thrilled for the area, since it will create lots of jobs, and it will bring in people like me who've never even BEEN to Mebane before (lol) ...

It's my mission in life to someday get to the clearance center in Arden. Either that or the true mothership in VA. It's just so hard to find the time & my vacation is tapped for the rest of the year.

My poor husband. He has waited outside many a Crewlet in half our 50 states, rolling his eyes and sighing. He's just happy he won't have to participate in the trips to the Mebane one! :)

  14. Elaine,

That is too funny about your poor hubby-lol. At least my hubby goes into JCrew and the JCrew outlets and takes a look around.... He bought 2 tees in Indiana this summer! He used to be a big JCrew fan as well but has not enjoyed their selection of late either.

I will probably plan a trip to Mebane around March when my daughter is out of school. Warmer weather shopping is more fun outside.

  15. Em: That's what really irks me about JC's inconsistent pricing from online and B&M. I know other retailers do this but their prices don't vary more than 30% (at least what I've noticed). I think that's why many of us are tired of trying to guess if we're getting the lowest price out there. It truly is unfair for online only shoppers who have no access to B&M.

I went on Friday and ordered the Colletta in Rainforest Green over the Red phone (had to do a search).
The Northern Lights Necklace (only one left) was $39.99 (while online is $49.99)
Sale section was very picked over. Bunch of $9.99 tanks but almost all in L, XL. The Woolly turtlenecks were $39.99 but mostly M, L. I did manage to buy the last XS in olive color. I thought I needed a S but it fit me very loose so I sized down. I really wanted the warm pewter and black but they didn't have my size. FYI, it's very see through since it's really thin weave. I'm still on the fence about keeping it.
The suede floppy belt in sandy brown was $29.99 but the sizing is a bit tricky. The S fit a bit tight but M loose (worn on the natural waist). I ended up getting the M but may have to exchange but I doubt any left since they only had 3-4 left. Some plaid and solid scarfs were $29.99 and ballet flats $69.99 but mostly large sizes left.
The cashmere Cody cardigan was still $69.99 and I managed to get the last one in Matisse blue. Very bright but I think it will go well with my Moss tweed skirt. Some lighter colored bootcut cords all priced $49.99 (?) but didn't have my size. Lots of tweed Notte pencil skirts marked $79.99. The Arrow sweaters were same price as online but not many left. The sequin stripe tanks from summer were all $49.99 (?). HTH!

  16. Wanted to add that since y'all were talking about it the other day, I popped into BR at lunchtime to try on the classic trench ... LOVE. So beautifully cut through the waist instead of being all baggy and gross!

I'm glad I didn't order online, as I did need the Small after all. I was sure I'd need a Medium. But since I won't usually be wearing anything thick or bulky under it, I think I'll be fine.

I'm going to buy one during Give & Get once that kicks in. :)
