"Looking to LOVE" with J.Crew

Preface: A big "thanks!" to Ibi who suggested weekly 'Looking to LOVE' and 'Looking to HATE' posts where we could all "deposit" our best & worst current experiences. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)

This is the weekly "Looking to LOVE with J.Crew" post, a place to share our favorite experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a positive situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including stellar experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Probably other JCAs have talked about the Sequin Mesh Skirt before, but I just got mine last week and couldn't be happier. It is comfortable and you can wear with anything. One thing I noticed is that the lentgh is a bit shorter than usual. I ended up getting a size 2 for extra lentgh and I usually wear 00 or a o in JCrew skirt.
Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and recommend it.

  2. I am so happy with my Haya Sequin Sweatshirt. It's sort of a ridiculous item if you think about it - can't wear it to work, wouldn't wear it to a formal event, a little too delicate to wear around the house. But I love the fit and the slight scoop neck and I just feel great wearing it. My husband called me a one woman disco - I took that as a compliment. :) I usually get an XS and that was the right choice here as well. Do I think it's worth $135? No way. But as a fun treat for $50 (used my rewards card plus a promotion), it was worth it.

  3. Yay! The LOVE post, the place for me! I have been able to find so many pieces I love lately. All the sequins, love it! The reve tee, adele dress, gem-laden knit hat. Of course I had items that didn't work but I'm able to look past that and know not everything is going to work on everyone and I'm happy with JCrew and the direction they are going!

  4. I love wearing my arrow sweaters. They're 100% merino wool and keeps me warm without being bulky. The pilling has been very minimal

  5. I just got the December catalog and LOVE the styling. It's what they do best. I'm also finding that the sizing is getting more predictable, at least in pants!

  6. Yay, just placed a sale order to take advantage of the 30% off/free shipping and my order came to exactly $150.84 after the discount was applied. If that's not meant to be, I'm not sure what is! :) I'd been meaning to stock up on basic tanks and tees for some time, plus I tried on some tissue tees in store yesterday and they don't seem as thin as last year's so hopefully I'll get more than one wear out of each.

Also found what are thusfar my favorite winter items in store yesterday, both of which I am wearing today. The first is the Dulphine open cardigan in heirloom pink, which is soooo lovely in person though I don't think I'd even paid attention to it on the website. The second is the Timber tweed pencil skirt which, again, doesn't look like much online but is magnificent in person! It has just a hint of metallic threads for a little sparkle, though by no means flashy for daytime wear, and the blend of neutral colors they used (beige, bronze, gray) are absolutely beautiful together and make the skirt so easy to pair. I know a lot of my fellow JCAs are not enthralled by the new shorter pencil skirt lengths, but for me this has been great as this was my first time ever buying a regularly sized pencil skirt that fits like a glove without alterations!

Excited to check out all the new items at the NYC collection store event tonight! :)

  7. jcrewphd, so glad you've had minimal pilling on the arrow sweaters, I finally ordered one last night in caramel. I love how J. Crew pieces work well together (garanimals for adults, I'm afraid). I've paired the plaid flannel boy shirt (the dark blue one) with the coal lumiere cardigan today, and I'm so excited to wear the tartan boy shirt with my black cashmere zip pullover. All age and work-appropriate but not stodgy.

  9. I love my cypress plaid skirt. It just makes me think Christmas.

  10. Personally, the merino should not pill at all. None of my older JCrew sweaters have pills on them. I am glad others are not bothered my excessive pilling (or a little bit even but the price on the arrow is going to have to come down even more for me:) LOL!
