This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
Hello!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees the Calista cami in a size 4 or 6 in the warm taupe color (nude color), could you let me know? I just saw it on Gigi's blog and fell in love with the color!
Also, I am looking for the notte tweed pencil skirt in a size 6 or 8.
TIA!

20% off knits & tees, automatically applied thru 11/14. You can still use SHIP150 for fs on $150 or more.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I have any desire for knits or tees because JC has dumped my cart for the 2nd time this week.
OT -->
* Rachel Roy, automatic addtl 30% on sale items. Automatic free shipping on $75 or more. If you give up your email addy, they will give you a code for $20 off $100 or more, I believe is the minimum. The code instantly pops up on screen, so no waiting.
* New York & Co, BOGO 50% off. Super cute accessories and they have JC double stranded crystal necklace lookalike. Can't recall the name. The one w/the amber stones. Cheesy Goodness, where are you?
Subscribing. :)
ReplyDeleteI passed on the knits/tees - I think it's not additional on the sale, just as marked. But I did use the free ship on $100 from the previous post
ReplyDeleteand I got the Jackie in dark rosewood, now marked down online to $39.99
ReplyDeleteAdditional 20% off knits does include sale.
ReplyDeletePauline, call the Charleston, SC, store - they had quite a few notte pencil skirts yesterday morning. 8435-534-1643 (I'm going from memory, so you may want to look it up to check the #)
ReplyDeleteI won't be visiting - our mall is a madhouse on the weekends! Wish my JC was free-standing. :)
ReplyDeletesilverlining,
ReplyDeleteI agree. It was a madhouse at my local mall over the weekend. I had never seen anything like it before Christmas. I guess people are shopping earlier than normal??? Anyway, the JCrew was dead when other stores had long lines and were hopin'
Math teacher - Charleston JC is great! I was there on business last year and did a lot of shopping in my free time. I love that town. I am actually wearing today the cords I got there! And the ps who helped me out was awesome and so trendy. Great place and a bonus for having crewcuts!
ReplyDeleteI might stop at the store for a t. I definitely don't want enough to qualify for free shipping.
ReplyDeleteWell, there's Gap give and get and Ann Taylor F&F so I think that's where my efforts will go this weekend. Happy shopping!
ReplyDeleteI will be in a JCrew store this weekend. Need the tights that are on the model on your title pic!!

ReplyDeleteplentyforpennies,
ReplyDeleteThere have been several posts on the poor quality of JCrew tights and not lasting a day without snagging or falling down to uncomfortable heights;) Just be careful!
I will be spending at Ann Taylor this weekend... but the J.Crew warehouse sale in Arden NC is also on Saturday and I am going to that.
ReplyDeleteI stopped in last night to make a few returns. Sale section was busting at the seams.... nothing remotely interesting to me. I saw the Plaid Eliza tee, and I have to say I was not impressed.... the black beads at the neckline looked so cheap to me, and the overall cut of the shirt was too boxy for my liking. I saw the Cypress plaid skirt and another that seems to be in store (grey plaid with green, had sort of a ruffle flair going off to the side)... love the prints of both, but way too short on me (and I'm only 5' 1.5"!). I passed. I also saw the Tinsel mini, I cannot believe they are charging $295 for this! The "tinsel" looks and feels like aluminum foil to me. :-( I spoke with one of the SA's, they are expecting another rollout around Dec. 5th.
ReplyDeleteIs something going on at AT beyond the 20%/30% advertised on the website? thanks.
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant BR, not Ann Taylor. I shop at stores besides J.Crew so little that they all blur together.
ReplyDeleteEm - Give Get for 30% off your purchase at Gap/BR/ON is going on thru this Sun.
ReplyDeleteReview of the moss tweed mini in this post.
Not sure I'll be going to JC this weekend, but will probably go to one of the Gap stores.
Barbabelle, AT/Loft F&F starts Monday for cardholders, Tues for everyone else.
ReplyDeleteUh, sorry to be daft, but what is F&F?
ReplyDeleteAnd, semi on-topic with the off-topicness of the comments, I never realized how do-gooder Ann Taylor is. I love it! Crew should do something like this. They'd probably pull in a few more buyers who aren't interested in high prices but are interested in good causes. /2cents
ReplyDeleteAli - F&F is friends & family
ReplyDeleteNo, no JC for me this weekend. I have to go up to the city for a guest lecture this week and I'll visit then to see if anything is on supersale at the B&M.
ReplyDeleteOT: It's also F&F at Lands End this weekend, plus free shipping over $50. And, the threshold for FS is calculated *before* the discount, not after, so I got FS even though I only spent $39. Canvas has some supercute knit accessories.
PS, just to echo Genny, I paid FP for some JC opaque tights because they were a HTF color, but they snagged like crazy. Not the kind of snags that result in holes--just unattractive little dark lines. And after only one wear.
ReplyDeleteI posted a few OOTD's on my blog, and one of them is a must have: the timber tweed pencil skirt is the most perfect mix of grey, brown and bronze. I paired it with a cardigan in bronzed twig, but you can just as easily go with black! Perfect addition to your pencil skirt collection, in my opinion, and I think they will go fast!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy shopping all!
20% off doesn't include sale. just confirmed it with cs rep.
ReplyDeleteAny reviews on the Montreax cardi (spelling? .... I mean the one with the zipper around the neck) Specifically, does anyone know the acrylic/nylon content % vs the wool %?
ReplyDeleteI posted about two pairs of J.Crew tights that did not last the day, one lasted only an hour, actually. And yes, they were falling down horribly and nowhere to discretely pull them up walking on a busy city sidewalk.
ReplyDeleteThe wool-blend tights are much better than the opaque tights, I've worn one of the two pair I bought this season and they held and stayed up all day. I got them in the Nordic blue, which seems to have disappeared from the site. Good thing I got 2 pair.
xoxo - thanks for the accurate and specific information about the quality of the tights. Much more helpful than generalized comments that aren't even based on personal knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI too have had good luck with the wool tights. I have found that the opaque tights aren't all that opaque, which I think makes them more fragile and prone to stretching out. JC's colors are great but there are better sources of opaque tights.

ReplyDeletemath teacher....thanks for the heads up on the notte tweed skirt! I will call them and see if my size is available!
ReplyDeleteI stopped by AT last night and the SA there told me they were going to be having an additional 25% off their sale stuff.
Meme, it's true J.Crew has nice colors, they are offering colors that go with their season's clothing colors so it's often a perfect match. They used to be good quality but this year they are just incredibly flimsy. I was shocked to have a hole appear before I even got to the office in the morning. More like cheap nylons than tights.
ReplyDeleteI find Hue has a great lineup of colors this season. I love the beet color, it matches my fuschia Francie skirt perfectly. They also have a dark heathered gray that is really nice.
For color choices, nothing compares to Oroblu, a European brand. The "50" have a silky feel that lets your clothes glide over them yet they are not shiny. Excellent quality and fit. Unfortunately they are not available in Canada so I stock up when I'm in Europe or if I can't wait, buy them online and pay crazy tax+shipping.
I've been pleased with the house brand tights I've bought from Nordstrom's - they've held up well on multiple wearings, and I know if I experienced problems like those described with j.crew's, I could take them back to nordstrom and get my money back without any hassle. I also like Hue.
ReplyDeleteSo...there is a "merino zip cardigan" that must be in-store only that looks JUST like the Montreaux cardigan, only it is 100% merino vs. the acrylic blend. Has anyone else noticed this? I bought and love the 100% merino one...
ReplyDeleteBarbabelle, I wish I could take the tights back to J.Crew. Living in Canada it would cost more to ship them than what I paid. Sad but true. Lesson learned.
ReplyDeleteI'll check out Nordstrom's tights when I visit family this winter. Thanks for the tip.
Love your handle and photo. Je me souviens. :)
20% off tees and knits does include sale items at the B&Ms.
ReplyDeleteI'm staying away from the mall this weekend. Crazy crowd and two little kids don't mix well. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBesides there's nothing that I have to look at JC right now.
I did take advantage of BR/GAP give and get. I also plan to order some stuff from LE Canvas since they sent me a $10 coupon from my first order with them.
Asra, the heather grey Montreux is 45% acrylic, 25% wook, 17% nylon and 15% viscose. Style number is 32325. Then 32329 is the same cardi (not sure about the content) and it also comes in heathered moss, heathered mauve and lighter grey. Then the third version is 100% merino, as appgal said, and it only comes in black. Style is 35347. Does that make things clearer, lol?!
ReplyDeletemommydearest (and asra): the 100% merino version also comes in a beautiful gold color, which is the one I have (you can see it here...8th pic down).
ReplyDeleteCan someone give me some more info about the AT friends and Family? There's 2 things I really want from there, but they're expensive. What kind of promo is the F&F? and do I need to be "invited"? Thanks! And sorry to go OT.
ReplyDeleteJruby18: Blogger Debye is an AT employee...she is sending out F&F info if you send her an email. Check out her post on it here.
ReplyDeleteDear Mommydearest and AppGal -
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I might have to go to the mall to track down the 100% merino style. Acrylic and nylon are impossible to wear in TX (although a high of 80 today makes any sweater difficult).
By the way, that gold color is absolutely gorgeous!
No JC for me, took advantage of Gap give&get, and got gorgeous tomato red cords and a plad puss bow shirt which I love.DH could not believe I downgraded to Gap from JC
ReplyDeleteSad but true
I visited my B&M tonight and did receive 20% knits that were on sale.
ReplyDeleteOoo, forgot about the gold color. Thanks for pointing that out, appgal! Asra, I hope you find just what you're looking for. If you need a black small, I can point you in the right direction :) BTW, black was $49.99, darker grey was $59.99
ReplyDeleteUntil yesterday, I could have sworn I saw this sweater in cobblestone, but I guess I mistook the online grey for cobblestone (which is my new favorite crush)
I ran in my local store this afternoon. I've been down on JCrew for a while and this latest rollout isn't helping.
ReplyDeleteThe skirts are just too short. The majority of the sweaters are very cheap looking...way too much acrylic. The only thing that caught my eye is the tartan boy shirts. I might have to pick one up...although I may wait for a discount.
On another note... JCrew isn't the only place with a horrible sweaters. I walked the mall and I am can't believe how far the overall quality of sweaters has deteriorated. Where can I find decent sweaters?

ReplyDeleteOrdered a couple pair of 120's cropped trousers. Like a couple of shoes but waiting to see if anyone reviews them.
ReplyDeleteI was in the SF store Thursday. What a mess! SF is a premium store and typically has lots of stuff. If they did this time, I couldn't tell. It wasn't even tidy, much less styled in a way that made you want to buy. We're talking SF here, how does that happen? Lately, Palo Alto is better and these aren't even my home stores, I just travel for work.
I liked the Dulphine sailor stripe sweater in coal ivory. For winter, I would probably wear a white shirt under it since it's thin. But it looked so thin and frail in the store, I wasn't sure it would withstand wearing or cleaning. JC, you didn't need to make that sweater $69.50 for a $19.99 sweater. Make a really nice $120. sweater that looks like that. I'll pay $120. if it's a $120. sweater.
I left SF with nothing and it was the day after the rollout. They didn't have any of the shoes I'm curious about in-store.
One other thing - $1800 for a calf-hair bag?
1. For $1800. I'll get a Chloe.
2. Calf-hair is creepy IMHO
3. See number 1. again
Shoe styles are changing and a lot of the styles they doing are right off the runway. Some are Chloe knockoffs among others, just like the socks with shoes is from Marc Jacobs. If they do a good "inspired" shoe for a reasonable cost and quality, I'll get it. But when they start doing $350. for a shoe, they are again, getting close to designer which I can get from Netaporter tax-free and wrapped in a beautiful box with ribbon and cheaper shipping. Just saying.
Took a lap through the Asheville store after about killing myself at the Warehouse sale earlier. Maybe I was just too exhausted to really be interested in anything, but nothing jumped out at me at all. It also might be the fact that it was about 70 degrees outside. Nothing was appealing. In the sale section, there were several Notte tweed skirts, a few of the donegal tweed mini, some Arrow sweaters, and puffer vests were down the $69.99 in the charcoal color. Store was pretty busy.
ReplyDeleteI visited today, the 20% off promotion was applied to the sale knits/tees. I got perfect tanks for $7.99 and sherpa hoodies for $31.99. The store in Mission Viejo CA had a full stock of those items. Not bad considering the sherpa hoodie is still $55 online.
ReplyDeletexoxo - Bummer that you can't return the tights. I think most mass retailers have abandoned up-front quality controls, and rely on customers doing the job for them by returning what fails.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on the Hue tights. I haven't checked out their offerings for this year but will be sure to do so.
AppGal... I hope this isn't totally creepy, but I thought I saw you at the warehouse sale today. It must've been you! Did you find any treasures?
ReplyDeleteEm: Ugh, I hope you didn't see me...I looked like a wreck this morning! :) You should have said hi! I didn't really luck out too much. I was late getting there so a lot of the good stuff was picked over. I did get several men's button-downs, polos, and sweaters for Christmas gifts! Oh, and I found a pair of gorgeous tweed trousers from Fall 2004--LOVE! What did you get?
ReplyDeleteI finally got the Gingham Sundrine dress in the mail I know this was not everyones favorite but I love love it! Just a cozy little dress to wear with tights and such this winter! I got my normal size and found it TTS.
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't want to go up to some random person and say, "are you AppGal?!"... cuz if it wasn't you, then I would've looked like a crazy person. Haha, oh well... I looked pretty bad this am too. It gets so hot and crazy in the sale!
ReplyDeleteI also found an awesome pair of wool trousers. Mine are from '05.... love them, esp. for $10! I did not get much else except that weird, kind of ugly Collection brown cashmere sweater from a couple years ago with the one big cable down the front that was like $400. It is weird, and I probably will not wear it out in public, but it's so thick and luxurious I couldn't resist. They did have alot of great mens' stuff, I got a couple shirts for my brother. It was so busy in there... it's almost not worth picking through all those boxes, even if it is kinda fun to do so.
Stopped in the Rock Center store today, discovered a cashmere secret sale for $99, so I finally pulled the trigger on the heather cobblestone crewneck I've been wanting and used my 20% off personal shopper coupon. Also bought the tartan plaid shirt and the b&w gingham button-down, very cute.
ReplyDeleteJust got the beautiful dark forest green cords at my store this evening -- on sale for $39.99. Not sure what colors to pair these with up top/shoes. Love this color though. Any recs would be much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAsra - The Montreaux I have is 100% merino wool, color code is GOL. My guess is that's gold. It's similar to the exterior color of butternut squash. It's not heathered and I don't see this color online.
ReplyDeleteI went to my local BM today. It was awful - everything was sequined. The sweaters were unimpressive. They didn't have any of the cut PJ bottoms.
ReplyDeleteI returned a sweater I bought online and went home.
