This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new HOLIDAY arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
Not this weekend since I have friends gathering for Thanksgiving dinner.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend everyone!
Will definitely be stopping into the larger of the two B&Ms near me to make a quick return and check out the sale section. Hoping to score a good deal on one of the tweed pencil skirts!
ReplyDeleteI may go since I need to make a couple of returns and would like to see if there are any hidden treasures in the sale section.
ReplyDeleteI too need to make some returns. Love my Arrow sweater jacket in caramel, though.
ReplyDeleteI may stop in since I'll be doing some Christmas shopping in the mall. I'd like to see the Rosebuds perfect shirt IRL - it's been on my wishlist for a while, but I'm not paying FP online if others are seeing it in stores for less.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if J.Crew normally does a black Friday special?
ReplyDeletekim,
ReplyDeleteFor the past two years they have not.
No shopping this weekend......time to get ready for Turkey day!!
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of returns as well. Will definitely scope out the sale section.
ReplyDeleteIrl pics of the new bling button cardi in this post.
No, staying out of the mall for at least the next two weekends. Too crazy for me:)
ReplyDeleteAnd a fun family trip planned to visit friends in the UK so will be preparing my wardrobe of JCrew, Talbots and Lands' End:)
Ugh - Jcrew is totally screwing with merchandise prices. A men's sweater was down to $41 yesterday, with sale, and now today it's back up to full price - $69 with no sale.
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond frustrating, and I don't appreciate Jcrew playing games with it's customers.
I can't think of any other company that puts something on sale then takes it back.
I disagree with the price changes (I hate them too) I have seen BR do this as well and I do not understand why they do it at all! Drives me crazy.
ReplyDeleteI will be making a stop to make a return and will quickly peruse the sale section to see if there are any good finds. I'm kind of hoping there are not . . my wallet could use a break! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend all!
I'd like a wooly ribbed t-neck, so maybe
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to resist the temptation to shop the 30% off sale at my local B&M since I was just there last Friday (unfortunately before the extra 30% off). I'm tempting to run in quickly and look at the sale jewelry. And maybe another Jackie.
ReplyDeleteFrom the field: Drapey bateau tee (32642) is $39.99 for both colors, $27.99 with discount. Still FP online.
ReplyDeleteHas anybody had any experience with the Lodge puffer jacket? I'm considering purchasing it as I need a warmer jacket, they have awesome colors, and its only $100 after discount online. However, I think in store its running cheaper so I'm considering making a stop at the red phone!
ReplyDeleteIt infuriates me how difficult J. Crew makes it to obtain free shipping. Either 150+ online or you must make at least one full price purchase in store. Gah!
I agree that putting items on sale only to put them back up to full price is terribly frustrating. It makes you want to impulse buy. On the other hand, J Crew puts out new arrivals only to mark those down a week later. So you never know if you should buy or wait!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be making some returns so I'm going to check out the sale section like everyone else is saying.
Lisa- I have the lodge puffer jacket in cobblestone. I love wearing it. It is super warm and soft but not overly bulky. I think it is definately worth it at around $100.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is a last ditch effort to try to get info about an item I love before I plunk down the money and use the code on it. Did anyone ever see the ombre horizon coat from last year and can comment whether the pic seemed pretty true to what it looked like IRL? Has anyone seen the factory version and can comment about the quality? Anything?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the help!
Blazecoat is $159.99 in store before the discount--I'm surprised this was marked down so quickly.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this is completely OT and I apologize but I could really use some advice from fellow credit card holders. Last billing cycle I bought a gift (it cost about $150) but returned it last week so I will have a $150 credit issued for this billing cycle. Is there a way for WFFNB to issue me a check this month so I'm not stuck with the credit? TIA.
I went for a quick trip for returns... I left empty handed, even after scanning the packed 30% off sale section... nothin.
ReplyDeleteAnyone try the Factory Cashmere? I want to order it during the 30% off, but nervous to waste $$$$$.
ReplyDeleteThanks for any input.

ReplyDeleteStopped by for a few minutes tonight. Sale section was packed with tees. I'm generally a sucker for anything when it drops below $10, but I don't think I would have taken those sad tees if a SA had paid ME $10.
ReplyDeleteEnded up purchasing a merino whisper ruffle sweater in a pretty green color for $39.99 (before 30% off) and a marled thandie blazer for $49.99 (before discount).
If anybody missed out on the marled thandie, they had several more size 0 in my store (Boca Raton).
Hi A, I think that Dara purchased some factory cashmere on the last 30% sale and could speak to it... from what I recall, something was off - but can't remember whether it was the fit or the quality.
ReplyDeletewhat store has the drapey bateau tee (striped) on sale?? i am looking for one!!
ReplyDeletefull priced scarves are on "promo", %25 off. it's not displayed anywhere - you just have to be pleasantly surprised (as i was) when you go to pay. i don't know how long the promo will last though. :)
ReplyDeleteGood selection of sale belts at the B&M. Found the double studded belt which is no longer available online - been waiting for it to get marked down and got it for over 70% off.
ReplyDeleteI recently received the Ruby velvet jacket and I am SO CONFUSED. I sized down to a 2 after reading a review on the Internet. It fit fine, my usual 4 would have been huge. She (the reviewer) also complained about the front pockets being placed poorly. I agree. When it's on, the pockets look like sad eyes. The color, however, is DIVINE (weathered wood). I wish they offered another style in this color. Many of the items in my order are going back. My Loft order, however, and the recent Loft flyer really won out. I got these $88 shooties for $30, and they are LOVELY. The brown is a nice dark brown, not as faded as they look in the picture. I liked them so much I returned to order the black, even though I rarely wear black. Ladies, check them out!

Also, the velveteen blazer is cut SO WELL and fits SO GOOD. I like the fit better than the Thandie blazer I got from JC, which seemed too large under the armpits but fine everywhere else. Loft's new/recent line is very appealing!
Two more great things:

And in mauve:

Patience is a virtue! I stalked the online sale section again this morning and was able to snatch up the bottom to my violet madras bikini top that came the other day,YAY! For those of us with a small chest, the lightly padded swim tops are fabulous. So essentially for both pieces I paid about $13.98. WIN.
ReplyDeleteI also snagged a Traversa cardi but had to get a Large because the Mediums were all sold out. So I'm sort of hoping it runs a little small.

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteCan anyone report on the fit of the drapey tee? It is tight? Or more like the vintage bateau? Thanks!
Factory cashmere is no good, and I'd never buy it unless it was dirt cheap. For the price, you can get the retail stuff if you catch it on sale for the same price and the quality is much better.
ReplyDeleteLinks to irl pics of sale items in this post.
ReplyDeleteLizzyT, do you mean the striped one with sequins on the shoulders? If so, here's my quick review on fit: I usually take a XXS in tees if it comes in that size, but for this I had to take an XS. The fabric (cotton/modal/linen blend) is a little tighter than their other tees. If you're in between sizes, I would size up. HTH!
ReplyDeleteThere were drapey tees at the Old Orchard store yesterday in the sale section.
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend the Blazecoat, if anyone is interested. It's so soft and pretty, love it.
This maybe off topic but..for those still looking for the rare JClet Lace Tiered Cami, I saw a close replica on Zappos today. A little pricey but Zappos is great w/ returns if I don't end up loving it.

Does anyone have any experience with shoes like the leather oxfords they currently have? I bought at full price because I fell in love with them like I rarely rarely do with anything and had to have them, they won't ship till December so I was afraid they'll disappear if I wait for a sale. It says made in Italy and I looved them when I saw them in store. But the recent posts on the poor quality of the J Crew shoes make me anxious. It's different for shoes that go over socks right? Those have to be comfortable. *is anxious*
ReplyDeleteAlso ordered the Arrow sweater based on the recommendations here and a couple other things.
I'm hoping to hop into J.Crew this afternoon--but I am definitely planning a visit to the outlet next Friday! [I had luck there in Leesburg, VA when I lived in DC. I now live in RI and Wrentham Outlets in MA have always had decent sales...I'm hoping they step it up next Friday!] I definitely concur that there are no Black Friday specials in the regular stores.
ReplyDeleteI'm really hoping the Lindy platforms come down soon. I would love to have them for holiday parties next month!
Went to crew today and my puffer vest and jacket rang up 30% off - The receipt says 30% off blazers and outerwear, plus I got my teacher discount!
ReplyDeleteI had to buy the tartan boy shirt since they're almost all gone online. If you still want one, call Charleston, SC, as they still had quite a few. Also those of you looking for the notte tweed skirt, Charleston also had a ton of these left. I didn't check the sizes except to find mine and buy it. Lots of stuff on sale!
ReplyDeleteMilljcrew, thanks for sharing. Did anyone else see 30% off outerwear at their store? I would definitely make a trip if they were having this promo at all stores. Anyone happen to know if it will be going on tomorrow as well?
ReplyDeleteMDPA, I saw the sign for 30% off outerwear. Also the bling button cardis are promo price 59.50. I think that's all I saw and/or heard. If I think of any other promos, I'll post.

ReplyDeleteI am SO GLAD that I browse J. Crew's sale section a few days before making a purchase. I went into my local store today and picked up some great finds, some of which were not on sale when I had first checked it out. Not sure how this happened but the Marled Amade Sweater was on clearance at my store. There was only 1, and it was an XXS. I figured it wouldn't fit as I am normally an XS but it fit BEAUTIFULLY. I've never been so excited about a J. Crew sweater before. It was marked down to $65 so after the discount I got a bargain: this beautiful sweater for $45!!
ReplyDeleteCan anyone speak to the quality of Talbots cashmere sweaters? Also, how is the sizing? I feel like I should size down from my normal size..any help would be appreciated!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Sometimes, those velvet shells and jacket are gorgeous! Can't wait for my trip to your land in a couple of weeks! Guess where I'll be shopping? :)
ReplyDeleteTo Appgal: I reviewd the floral cashmere sweater from Talbots on my blog. They fit TTS IMO.
ReplyDeleteJust got back from the J Crew in Madison, WI. There were a lot of things on sale, but I didn't find anything I had to have. Probably a good thing since I plan on making Black Friday shopping a serious event next week!
ReplyDeleteBack from Walnut Creek & Emeryville in N. Cali. It was pretty slim pickings. Mostly left over sweaters & tees nobody wanted, even on sale. I did score the Lace Tee at $49, which is much lovelier on than I imagined.
ReplyDeleteI also scored 3 scarves at emeryville. Currently the full priced scarves are 25% off w/ promo, but some actually rang up an extra 30% off. Of course instore purchases are final sale w/ the discount. :(
I really want the Drapey bateau tee in olive, size S (32624) but I live in Canada so I can only order it online and it's full price! Reading that it's on sale in the B&M stores kills me!!! Waah!
ReplyDeleteI hit up the Huntsville, AL store earlier today and walked away with 3 tanks for layering (a basic ribbed tank, tuxedo ruffle tank, and--completely forgot the name--the tank with stones encased in mesh on the front), a jersey scarf, the sequin sash, and a headband to give as a gift. It all would've been about $50, but I had a return that left me paying only $35(!). Great deals this weekend!
ReplyDeleteVictoria, not sure which ones you are talking about, but I have the camden leather brogues and they are very well made and very comfortable.
ReplyDeleteRose, to my land from where? Canada? Don't you love the no sales tax on clothes in MN? I actually saw the velvet shell in person tonight (already own the jacket), and it is ADORABLE. Still not sure how to handle the bra issue since the upper part is sheer. Strapless never work for me. Braless, whoooooohooooooooo, here I come!
ReplyDeleteLouise--the drapey tee is on sale now, online, in the sale section! not sure if they have your size, but check it out.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Sometimes, yes, from Canada, but not to MN. I am still glad I can get any at all since they do not ship up here yet.
ReplyDeleteHow about a beige bra? Would that be noticeable? Or one in the same colour of the blouse? I think it's perfectly acceptable to wear one of those without raising any eyebrows. If that's too much, how about one of those with removable straps? I know they wouldn't work for me, as I would try to constantly adjust it, but might work for some ladies.
Rose, that's what I am thinking is a nude bra. Wish I had one of those with the see-through plastic straps, that might work too. If they aren't shiny reflective.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you annoyed by the J. Crew price changes, I can assure you other retailers do this too. Just last week I found an item in the sale section of Anthropologie's website. I ordered it, several hours later my order was canceled. Literally days after, it was back on the site at full price. The great thing about Anthropologie is their customer service though. I called when I noticed it back in stock and they reordered for me and honored the sale price.
ReplyDeleteI have seen this same thing happen at Ann Taylor and Talbots, so it isn't just J. Crew.
I went to the J.Crew outlet today and picked up the starland tank for $51, meanwhile, it's price at $98 on the factory store online. Even if the 30% discount is applicable to factory store purchases, and I'm not sure it is, it would still be $70! The wild price variations between J.Crew b&m stores and online is frustrating. I'd like to see more consistency on pricing in the future. Right now, I feel like every time I buy something at J.Crew, I'm playing a shell game: which J.Crew venue will yield the best deal? Will it be online, at an outlet, or at a b&m retail store?
ReplyDeleteThe Lisette cami in heirloom pink and the Linley chinos in black were marked down this morning in-store to $59 and $49! I have been watching the Lisette, and had a feeling it would get marked down after the 30% was over!
ReplyDeleteHi laurie - the Lisette was $59 in my B&M last week when the 30% was still going on. The price changes are annoying - they should implement those little tag readers like Target has so you can check the prices while you're shopping, ha!
ReplyDeleteEm, thank you! Those are exactly it. It's super nice to have reassurance.
ReplyDeleteSilver lining, I love your idea! :) My store had the Moss color marked down during the 30%, but didn't mark the pink and black down until today. These pricing games must be an intrical part of Crew indoctrination...
ReplyDeleteHead's up, JCAs, a new promo starts tomorrow (Monday, 11/22), according to the store manager at my B&M.
ReplyDeleteJCrew will take 25% off entire total for purchases of $150 or more.
I didn't think to ask whether this was only at B&Ms or if it's also online. He mentioned it because I called to have them hold the trouper pant, since the shadow (charcoal) color in sizes 0, 2 & 4 is back ordered online until Dec 27.
By the way, I LOVE the trouper pant-- amazingly flattering! Fits just like J Brand's Houlihan skinny cargo at a lower price and with no pocket flaps sticking out. The minnies never did anything for my flat behind, plus it had all this extra fabric on the thigh. The trouper cargo is shapely & more form-fitting in that area, and gives the illusion of much longer legs than my 5'1" frame. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more buzz on JCA. Petite gals especially may want to check it out.
Connor, I really wanted to love the trouper and am still disappointed it didn't work for me. I was in between sizes--my smaller size was too tight and the bigger size was too saggy in some places.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they worked for you though!
Connor, thanks for the heads up. Do you know if the 30% off outerwear will still be going on tomorrow? I wanted to stop by and pick up the Maribel puffer today but didn't get a chance. It would be wonderful if it were 30% + 25% off tomorrow! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI liked the trouper pant but found they ran waaayyyyy too big! The 00 was too big and I never wear 00! I purchased the j brand houlihans instead and I've been very impressed with them! Then again that is my go to brand and all I ever wear pants wise (j brand)!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad others are having more luck!
Victoria, you're welcome. I have many pairs of JC shoes, both heels and flats, and I have to say that the Camden brogues are by far the most comfortable! The leather is really soft and nice too... and they look great. At first I didn't even know if I liked them but after wearing them once I was in love!
ReplyDeleteJCrewLove, haha I should have known the trouper pant runs big as I'm normally a 0Reg or 2Petite in JC bottoms and the 0 in the trouper pants fit fine, even though I've put on a few pounds recently! :o) Love J Brand too, but wish their bootcut jeans came in petite lengths. I could hem them shorter but they still wouldn't taper properly where my knee hits so the jeans get weird creases on the back of my legs. Anyone else have this (creasing) problem?
ReplyDeleteMDPA, I don't know about the 30% off outerwear or when it expires. When I was at the SF Westfield store on Thursday, there was no signage that even said outerwear was on promo.
AppGal - I got a cashmere cable v-neck sweater from Talbots last year and have been very pleased with it. It's held up really well. I'm usually regular size 6 up top, but since Talbots runs large, I always go petites for its sweaters and tops. The cashmere sweater I got is a PS, and it fits really well.
ReplyDeleteI disagree about the Factory cashmere -- I got a basic crewneck cardigan in early fall from the online Factory site, and it's lovely. I've worn it maybe 4-5 times so far and no pilling yet, and it's very soft and cozy.
ReplyDeleteI also think this year's regular cashmere is better quality than in past years. The cobblestone colour cardi I got hasn't had much pilling at all. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
I will now be able to test the notorious J Crew cashmere. I was at the store, where they don't carry it in MN, but the employee said she could check returns. There was a cody cardigan, size small, with sale and extra % off I got it for $48! Heathered agate color, which I would not have chosen but is quite versatile and pretty. Strange fit though, fits normally except the band around the bottom is very tight for a small, and I do not have large hips. I don't usually button my cardis fully anyway.
ReplyDelete
