J.Crew is reminding us of their offer to take an additional 25% off your orders of $150+ with promo code FALLSALE. This offer expires Saturday, 11/6/10.
The fine print of the offer includes:
*Offer valid in J.Crew retail stores and at jcrew.com only. Offer is not valid at J.Crew Factory stores or on J.Crew Factory items. Offer does not apply to previous purchases, alterations or the purchase of gift cards. Offer not applicable to third-party branded merchandise. 25% discount applies to orders of $150 or more before shipping, handling and taxes are added. Offer valid through Saturday, November 6, 2010, 11:59pm ET. Savings are applied at checkout with code FALLSALE. Offer not valid on phone orders. Cannot be combined with any other promotion or redeemed for cash. Limit one promotional code per order. From the sound of it, this promotion is not getting too many bites (since this offer does not include free shipping.) Hopefully the next promotion will include free shipping. :)
What are your thoughts on J.Crew's latest promotion? Do you think you will take advantage of it before it ends?
I ended up getting the Chiffon Cecelia cami and the Darla Ruffle cami, plus a shirt for the boyfriend. I was not excited to pay the shipping, but I have been waiting for these camis to make it to sale.
ReplyDeleteI am a little bummed because I purchased the Timber Tweed Pencil and the Sunnie Pencil full price, but one in-store and one online. Had I purchased them together, I could have asked CS to apply the promotion since I only bought them a week ago. :( I calculated it out and I would have saved about $30. Should just learn my lesson and always wait for a promo. Frustrating.
Wow, the wording of the fine print is contradictory to the main text of the e-mail. The main text says the offer is now available in stores, but the fine print says it is not.
ReplyDeleteAs a tech writer/communications person I find this amusing. I'd also be remiss if I did not hold myself accountable and admit I've done things like this, too.
No free shipping, no dice!
ReplyDeletejacquelyn, I noticed the same thing! I'm guessing that they haven't updated the fine print since including B&Ms to the promotion.
ReplyDeleteI have a self imposed ban on purchasing anymore J Crew clothes. If you look at my bank statement, you'll see consistent deductions from J Crew retail!
jacquelyn: Whoops! It's my mistake not J.Crew. I thought the fine print was the same so in my rush to post I copied and pasted from an earlier email that was open. Thanks for catching it though! :)
ReplyDeleteDoes this promotion include red phone orders as well?
ReplyDeleteAlan, I used it on a red phone earlier this week. Just ask the sales associate helping you to mention it while she/he is placing your order.
ReplyDeleteI hounded J. Crew for a better deal, and the in-store discount is a better deal because it means that I can avoid paying shipping costs...and that means I'm grabbing my purse and heading for the mall :D
ReplyDeleteI've got a full cart...but waiting on my rewards card to arrive before I pull the trigger. Is anyone else worried that their rewards card hasn't arrived?
ReplyDeleteBut then store return policy is only 30 days while online is 60 days. I'd rather have a larger window frame for return/exchanges.
ReplyDeleteI've got some returns to make so I may visit tomorrow or so and check out.
any input on the moss tweed pencil vs double serge pencil skirts? i know they are different in color etc, but I'm wondering which would be a better investment. thanks!
ReplyDeleteFYI the SS2011 JCrew show is happening right now for womens (mens was earlier) - live tweeting report by @jimshi809. So far we see those exaggerated proportions (ehhh maybe it will work IRL), and more "out there" concepts (ahem, are the really going to produce the ruffled chartreuse and white contraption?) but some nice jewel tone greens, blues mixed with neutral beiges.
ReplyDeleteAllyson, I was getting nervous and, mostly, irritated. I missed out on the best colors of the Cody cashmere because of their slowness. I didn't get my rewards card until today. Grrrrr. For those of you who have been with J Crew a while, what is the cheapest you typically see their more basic cashmere pieces go in fall and winter (not spring/summer)? Is $52 dollars a good deal (plus shipping, unfortunately)?
ReplyDeleteYou can always call and CS or a PS can look up your rewards card and apply it to your order. No need to wait for you card.
ReplyDeletesome pix from the men's spring presentation--I know you will laugh at me but love those patched chinos--also that denim bag...

I love that beige cocktail dress from the spring 2011. Looks like I may actually be shopping J. Crew for clothes again come Spring.

ReplyDeleteMentioned this in another thread, but now it's not so OT:
ReplyDeleteI saw a Chiffon Cecelia tank at the Asheville store today for $29.99! It's a size 8, and a really good deal esp. if you get something else to get the 25% discount. # is 828 274 3995.
LizzyT: I would definitely go with the double-serge if you're looking for an investment piece. They are higher quality, imo, and will always be in-style.
ReplyDeleteAnd one more post..(sorry guys!)
ReplyDeleteI have a new post up with IRL pics of new arrivals here.
Allyson: I haven't received mine yet either! I'd like it to come before this promotion ends, for god's sake!
ReplyDeleteoooh, Genny. Thanks for the heads up. Missed your post. Perhaps I will try that if it doesn't come today.
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of items I would like to get but the shipping charges are a real deterrent to me.
ReplyDeleteThankyouverymuch, J.Crew. I spent $350 with you three days before the sale was announced in-store. I've worn the clothes, so I cannot return them.
ReplyDeleteLesson learned - wait, wait, wait.
Genny, Thank you for the info! I'm calling CS and placing my order before the promotion ends. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI bit... I got the Rhodie Tote, after buying and returning the Rhodie Satchel, which I did not love because (1) I felt it was off-balance with the cross-body strap; (2) it was actually smaller than I prefer -- but I do love large bags; and (3) I found it somewhat annoying in that the bag had to always be buckled (via an actual buckle) when carrying and unbuckled when opened. The tote, which was actually what I originally wanted until I was dissuaded by a sales associate, was marked down this week from $375 to $300, so with the discount, it was $225. The $75 discount more than made up for the shipping, especially for an item that had been sold out and which I thought would never go on sale...
ReplyDeleteI went into the store today b/c yesterday someone here had posted about the stores honoring the 25% off deal. I wanted to try the Boulevard trench. I am so bummed b/c it fit nicely and looks really pretty, but the arms are ridiculously long on me. There'd be no way to alter them either and have it still look good. Same for the Stadium Elements coat. I'm especially bummed b/c the store still had the 20% off outerwear deal, so I was figuring I could have scored a fabulous deal. I'm very sad this evening about it all. I wanted to try on this marled sweater w/pouch pockets and a cowl neck on the front of it but they didn't have my size. I tried on some other similar sweater and it was awful. It looked like I was wearing a huge thick potato sack. Now to be fair, the slimmer gals might look better in it. I'm on the higher end of the sizing spectrum. I saw the yellow sweater and thought it was so cute but didn't even try it on b/c there was nothing else I wanted so I wouldn't have even gotten the 25% off. I ended up walking out empty handed.
ReplyDeletesort of OT, but sort of not - I'm on vacation in Cape May, NJ this week. I went to the downtown Philly store and was rather disappointed. No cashmere, few sweaters, not very many of the items I've been interested in at all. My regular store is the Cherry Creek store in Denver. Anyway, anyone from the NJ/Philly area recommend a better store? I might see if I can swing by another one before I leave so I can take advantage of the promo w/o shipping. Their shipping really is a joke compared to other retailers. Can't believe they haven't caught on yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
As much as I love J.Crew, BR has been hard at work to win my $$$. And with free shipping, great promo prices and discount deals they have been winning $$ from my J.Crew spending.
ReplyDeleteBest of all there's no duty or exchange(even though the Cdn dollar is basically on par).
So I'm passing on this deal.
Any new B&M sale updates? I guess I will pop in tomorrow, but I have already ordered online. There just isn't all that much I'm excited about...
ReplyDeleteMerino cardis are on a "hidden" promo in b&ms right now, at least they were in mine. Not sure what the exact promo is...$20 off maybe? An $89.50 cardi rung up for $69.50 today.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to save my pennies for the inevitable christmas sale, but looks like some of colours of the cashmere vest is already sold out in my size, with the couple remaining shipping in December... what to do? what to do???
ReplyDeleteLizzy T., I agree with AppGal, the double-serge pencil skirt in a solid color is more of a classic than the moss tweed. Twwed styles do change over time from large, tiny, nubby, birds-eye, plaid, multi-color and tonal. Tne double-serge in a solid neutral or a color that you really love is a wardrobe staple that will be worth every penny over time. If you get one, let us know what you think!
ReplyDeleteJC Guy in Canada, I so prefer the BR men's collection to JC's!! JC is making everything so super-slim cut so all the male models look like euro hipsters! BR men's is more rugged or refined americana-looking.
ReplyDeleteCloset crises, I'm willing to bet "new shipments" of some of the stuff that is sold out or backordered will come in. It has happened to me several times.
ajr--
ReplyDeleteThere's a J.Crew at King of Prussia mall, outside of Philly. I have only been there a few times--my bf lives in Philly & I live in Ohio, so I can't remember what kind of selection it offers.
Jruby18,
ReplyDeleteA good tailor should have no problems altering the sleeve length on the Stadium Boulevard trench. I bought two (in different colors) last year and had my tailor alter the sleeves to fit my oompa loompa length arms. She just moved the entire cuff up so that I didn't lose any of the cuff details.
This might be a dumb question but does anyone think that with this discount would be the best time to buy the Donegal tweed schoolboy blazer and the doubel cloth Coletta coat? They are pretty much the only things I want from J. Crew but I'm debating if I should just buy it with this promo or wait until possibly after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
My store got a few new items in this week but will get a lot more end of next week I heard!
ReplyDeleteyay.email, unless you are dead set on a particular color or need the items to wear now, i would wait b/c there will undoubtedly be better deals closer to the holidays.
ReplyDelete@yay.mail, I started buying lots of j crew just after last Christmas. lots of good deals and sizes, some of the more popular colours WILL be sold out, so snag one in your size now. Also, the dreaded Final Sale may rear its ugly head after Christmas as well, so if you need to try on for size, order up now or hit a B&M. if you can live without till then, take a chance, you'll save yourself quite a few bucks. HTH.
ReplyDeleteGQ says that men should have the equivalent of that 'little black dress' which is a medium gray colored suit in their closet. So I took advantage of the 25% discount and ordered a Ludlow wool flannel suit. Thanks JCrew!!!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion! I ended up going to the Cherry Hills store, and was quite happy with their sale section and scored some deals. :)
