The next roll-out for new HOLIDAY arrivals is expected to hit brick and mortar (B&M) stores this week (if not today)!Although I like the current Fall items at J.Crew, I am not "in love" as I have been with previous Fall seasons. So I am excited to see what new items are slated for J.Crew's Holiday collection. Hopefully the new collection will "wow" us. Especially when it comes to outerwear. :)
Are you looking forward to the new Holiday arrivals? Will you visit a brick & mortar (B&M) store today (or this week) to check it out? If so, please share! :)
Has anyone seen the ruffled tier camis (from the fall catalogue) in store? Have they been marked down?
ReplyDeleteMe again :) Forgot to ask about the mohair souffle cardigans. Have they been markeddown?
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!!
Ned: All colors of the tiered cami's were marked down to $29.99, except for papaya at $19.99, but my B&M only had black, ivory, papaya, and one black and white print left. I did not see any of the Mohair cardigans on sale.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely be hitting the B&M tomorrow to see the rollout...I have a feeling it will be more of what is online only right now.
I'm going to check out my store (Corte Madera, CA) on Wednesday. Rollouts have been so small this season that I'm trying not to get too excited.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to see the new arrivals on Thursday. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be in the store today but I'm not going w/the expectation of being blown away by holiday items. Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised...or not. :)
ReplyDeleteI wont' be able to get to a store until Nov. 11 when I have a day off but am not overly excited as the most recent rollouts were not much. The last good one IMO was end of July/early Aug. when all the new fall items came out.
ReplyDeleteMy local B&M in Restonm Virginia is having special preview event tomorrow (Wednesday)...I'll definitely be going. One SA told me over the weekend to expect alot of new sweaters and Crew's new pajamas. Hmmmmm. Hope it's more than that!
ReplyDeleteI was at the Easton Town Center J Crew yesterday and the new arrivals were on the floor. I tried on a bunch of stuff and walked out with nothing. They said there will be more new items coming out in 2 weeks and the new catalog will be out next Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI saw a beaded tee with what looked like a tree running up one side. When I opened it up, I realized that there were two of them, and they were reindeer antlers. It SO did not scream J Crew to me.
Can't wait to hear the reports about the new stuff! When does the site update?
ReplyDeleteThe tiered camis were marked down although not in the yellow color I want. What is up with in store being $29.99 and just being marked down to $69.99 online?
ReplyDeleteJenLynn,
ReplyDeleteYou are right. That is a HUGE price difference. I am going to wait it out online and hope they go down in price eventually.
I am so grateful for this blog to let us know these HUGE price differences!
Thanks everyone!

ReplyDeleteNichi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know what you saw. So far it doesn't make me want to run out to a store. It is pretty far for me and I rarely have time to go. So unless I hear lots of great comments I won't venture out....
annegav,
ReplyDeleteI hope it is more than sweaters and pj's. I don't go to JCrew to buy pj's! I go to Land's End or LLBean. Their quality is great.
I got some AMAZING sweaters at the JCREW in paramus, nj last week. they got their stuff really early b/c it's a concept store. i spent $400 on new merch: a pretty "tuxedo" like cash-blend cardi for $98, ruffled painters tees, hot pink/hot orange ruffled blouse, sequined buttonless cardi, etc etc. i don't know the names of the merchandise, but i loved a lot of the sweaters. i do miss the old preppy jcrew though!
ReplyDeletejust posted pictures of some new holiday stuff on my blog :)
ReplyDeletealso, forgot to add, i was told that this is the last big roll out. they'll be getting some more gift-like items and accessories but that's pretty much it until resort. (i can not even think about resort clothing right now!)
ReplyDeleteSummer -- agree on the pj's at Lands End, etc. Also, Gap have super soft pj pants and tops...
ReplyDeleteI went to my B&M last night and they didn't have much out. They had quite a few new tees- a cream holiday version with antlers that are beaded. A few new sweaters as well but nothing that I just had to have. They were still putting out a few items but it seemed like the rollout was small.
ReplyDeleteAnother price difference...the skinny belt in neon orange & pink, black, and brown is $14.99 online and $19.99 in store.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for this, as holiday roll-outs are generally my cup of tea! I'll have to sneak a peek at our local store and see when things may be happening...
ReplyDeleteOT: Did anyone see the Stella McCartney for Gap Kids that launched online? Scrumptious and neck and neck, design-wise, IMO, with crewcuts (some even a little more modern/edgier):
http://www.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=26645&mlink=51415,1473141,2&clink=1473141
I may be in trouble! I wish the Crew could put some of this into their adult line!
Can't wait to see the holiday stuff, and I love the cozy bits and bobs they always have at Xmas, pjs, hats, scarves, etc...
ReplyDeleteI got the November/winter catalogue from Anthropologie yesterday and it's full of lovely things for the holidays, including their darling ornaments and Kids wear!
Went yesterday to check the new arrivals. Lots of cute new embellished tees and a few new sweaters, including the watercolor leopard print now available in a merino crewneck cardigan, $88.00. It's pretty, but I like my Evie top better. Of course had to buy a few new tees, too. The reindeer antlers one kind of threw me for a loop, though. Not diggin' it, but it might be cute on, I didn't try. There is gorgeous pale pink tee with clusters of flowers printed on it in darker pink and gray. Some of the flowers (roses?) are chiffon embellished, like the chiffon roses tees from this past spring. It looks great under a charcoal cardigan. There was a black sequin sweater/shrug -- no closures or buttons, very cute, saw two women purchase it while I was there, so it's a HOT item. Was expecting more, though. It was a small rollout.
ReplyDeleteAny pretty holiday skirts? If so, are they mini or knee length? TIA!
ReplyDeleteHow practical is antlers on anything but a $2. headband as a funny novelty? Oh well. Someone else said it, I so very much miss the preppy J. Crew.
ReplyDeleteSo basically lots of tees? and a couple of sweaters?? I am not into the JCrew embellished tees for the price and one can only wear so many tees....
ReplyDeleteI am looking for some nice, flowy skirts like JC used to make and mayebe some nice blazers. Hope there are some...

ReplyDeleteOT, but I just bit the bullet and ordered the wool Harbour Peacoat in antique stone. I figure it's worthwhile to get it now while it's on sale. Even if it goes on bigger sale after Christmas, I'll have gotten a lot of wear out of it between now and then (living in Canada and all!) :)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have it and can comment on it?
ooh I am getting excited! I had already planned to go to mall tomorrow, so its going to even be better my JCrew store has its new arrivals in. A friend gave me a Jcrew gift card so I am excited to spend it.
ReplyDeleteI am determined to start my holiday shopping tomorrow (good excuse to go shopping!) so hopefully I will some good ideas.
OT - just received an email from Anthropologie, free standard shipping through 12/23 on all orders over $150, no code required. :-)
ReplyDeleteNichi: Thanks so much for the update on Easton! I was planning a trip out there to make some returns this week - sometimes they don't always put out their new merch as soon as some other stores do.
ReplyDeleteAlso - just saw this article on the J.Crew sample sale:
The line for the sample sale wasn't too bad this morning, though it's steadily growing. The stock, however, leaves a little to be desired: As promised, there's good cashmere and lots of shoes, though not too much more.
The crowd -- which was actually pretty male-heavy -- arrived at the sale and most were a bit disappointed by the limited selection, though the prices are quite good. The shoes were handily wrapped in little plastic bags and included the label's signature Marjorie ballet flats for $45, tall boots for $149, and Hunter rain boots for a mere $70 (for those of you still in need of a good pair, this is the sale for you). Cashmere sweaters are $75, while wool-blend sweaters are just $40 -- and do come in a kaleidoscope of J. Crew colors.
We did notice a good deal of wares with the word "sample" scrawled on it in black marker -- the indicator of a true sample sale -- as well as a good amount of damaged merchandise, so be careful before grabbing pieces willy-nilly and checking out.

Going tomorrow! Hopefully my PS will have nabbed a stardust skirt for me....if they get them. It makes me nervous that they are completely sold out online.....
ReplyDeleteaudball, I was really looking forward to the Stella collection for Gap, but now that I've seen it, I wish the boys' options were more interesting!!
ReplyDeleteI ran out at lunch and looked at the new stock in my B&M today. I am so disappointed in all the grays and blacks. I want to see so bright, vibrant colors again. There was one rust/orange sweater with a lower, softer ruffle neckline, but I thought it looked awkward.
ReplyDeleteI saw my personal shopper there, and he said off to the side that he was disappointed too, and is hoping for some exicitement to come in another shipment of new things in the middle of the month, around the 13th. I hope he's right. I'm passing up on these things for now.
Hi! This is a request from someone who lives nowhere near a retail store. Would anyone who gets a chance to peruse the new items in store mind taking some pictures by chance? Gigi - I always love your reviews. You wouldn't by chance be stopping into J Crew any time soon?
ReplyDeleteCliquot: Re. the peacoat, I tried the antique stone on in store and it was absolutely beautiful! I thought they did a nice job with proportions on the collar. For some reason, that color worked, even though the collar seems very large in pics. I think the fact that the antique stone is a lovely neutral helped a great deal. With the pencil cord skirt, it was gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt was super-soft and felt very luxurious...the color, though...phenomenal! I think you will be pleased with it!
Mommydearest: I know...the Stella McCartney for Gap boys' selection wasn't quite as wow! for me either...I did order the grey cable knit but many things are disappearing from the site! I figure if I order a few things, those things that don't work for us can be returned fairly easily.
Any chance someone has tried the 'Tailored Wool Cowlneck Dress' ? It is online only and I am wondering if the material is really thin? (another shapeless dress..) and if it runs large?
ReplyDeletethanks for help!
Thanks, audball! I'm even more excited to get it now!
ReplyDeletemommydearest-i emailed you back yesterday. let me know if you got it?

ReplyDeleteSherri,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the report back. Definitely worth it to wait a bit until later this month. I looked on another blog and what she bought is all black and gray too so not too exciting for those of us who want color!
Christina, I'm curious about that dress, too. I thought I was the only one who saw through the heinous styling! I wonder if the wool is like the two wool dresses I got last year, one was a tank with three roses and the other was a shift/ jumper style. The wool has a bit of stretch and isn't very scratchy, and is a lighter mid weight, tightly knit but not too thick. Without seeing it in person, I'm very leery of buying it for a hundred bucks, although the quality of the wool seemed good on my other wool dresses (although neither has lining.) Noone here has reviewed it as far as I've seen.
ReplyDeleteThanks Heidi and loves2shop4bags for the info. I'll call my "local store" (5 hours away round trip) and see if they have any. They are always so difficult on the phone it is nice to have all the info before I call. Thanks again
ReplyDeleteNew arrivals online tomorrow per CS. I stopped in my B&M and the only item that I had to have was the watercolor cardigan- Adore the print. I tried the Evie top in this print and did not like the fit and figured you can't go wrong with another cardigan!
ReplyDeleteAudball,
ReplyDeleteStella McCartney for Gap Kids--
I was so excited that I stayed up until the site updated on 12:01 AM(I know, I'm sick...) and at one point the site was almost down for a few minutes.
I was VERY disappointed. They didn't have the military jacket, leopard printed sweater dress nor the tutu skirt featured everywhere. Nothing was as exciting or unique as Crewcuts. I ordered necklace printed tee and a pair of jeweled flats(I have two girls). I checked online now and they are sold out already...can't find them on the web. And they were shipped today.
After the mention of Stella for Gapkids I had to check it out and was not impressed- Crewcuts might be overpriced but is much cuter!! All I could find were some muted colored tee shirts and pants. I love that Crewcuts is bright, frilly and fun. I cannot dress my daughter in olive green and grey!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I hope J.crew's Holiday stuff includes much more than overpriced sequin tees and pjs. Give me pretty taffeta parlor skirts and quality cashmere and a smashing jacket ...
ReplyDeleteI always count on J.Crew for a few special holiday pieces and I do a lot of my Christmas gift shopping there too. But it sounds like I may have to look elsewhere this year if they are not featuring their usual fabulous colors. I've got enough neutrals and I'm looking for something bright now. The tees can be fun and I did purchase the snowflake tee last year and wore it quite a bit as it was more winter and not just holiday.
ReplyDeleteI'm practically poised with a full cart and mouse in hand for a jingle, turkey, hohoho, promo. Ready to spend J.Crew, bring on a deal.
The Austin Barton Creek store has a lot of new arrivals as of today and the Domain is supposed to have theirs, too, but I have not been up there to check. We have the American Cancer Society's Holiday Shopping card (donate $50 for the card and you get 20% off full price merch at lots of stores in the Austin area). I know other cities have these, too. So I am waiting until Friday the 6th make purchases at JC (among other stores such as Madewell and Anthro).. It's a good way to jumpstart the Christmas shopping, too!
ReplyDeleteChristina--I tried the Tailored Wool Cowl Neck Dress. No complaints about the fabric. Its got some heft so it hangs nicely and is a good weight for colder weather. The color also was a nice grey.
ReplyDeleteI did not like where the gathering on the sides hit my torso so I passed. I like the concept though. Thought it could be layered and accessorized in interesting ways for casual Fridays and weekend wear.
If you have a FS code it might be worth a try for you since its not final sale.
OT, has anyone bought the twisted hammock pearl necklace? Is it heavy? TIA
ReplyDeleteSome of the new arrivals at my B&M, same items as mentioned, and it is a "collection" store but no addl collection items. The beaded reindeer antler tee flipped me out. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING? Are we supposed to wear that with the camo jacket and no pants? He he.
ReplyDeleteLeft with nothing. Maybe next time.
Hee hee, Ruffles...no pants...
ReplyDeleteThere's a new gift guide online now!
ReplyDeleteNew stuff is online! Finally...change of scenery...
ReplyDeleteI'm not seeing anything new... just the gift guide, which has old items in it.
ReplyDeleteThere they are!
ReplyDeleteHas like 4 new things. Sorry for the faux excitement. I'm such a blowhard.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletemore of the same. overdone details, too much ruffles, etc.
ReplyDeletethat panneau silk cami looks like a shiny trash bag. ick.
I really get far too excited when I'm expecting new arrivals, huh.
ReplyDeletespace dye cardigans in size L & XL spotted at South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa, CA) full price.
ReplyDeleteAlso, spring 08 watercolor floral skirt in sizes 4 & 10 for $69.99
All of the tiered silk camis in all colors are also on sale as well as all colors of the Francis silk camis.
I'm not enthralled by the gift guide or new arrivals. You can get all the Schleich toys they're hawking for kids at Target (they're really nice, though, and deserve props for the detail. A hose from that line given to my DD was VERY obviously a stallion!) I love the girls' sparkly lodge pullover, nothing so cute for us women. I love that the antler tee is one of Jenna's picks, oh that wacky Jenna. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteMy only stron feeling about the update: OK, how come men get other colors of Jaspe? Color me jellis. I like the marled shawl collar for them, too. The men's stuff is the only area without frouf or overly graphic-ed.
I'm disappointed with the new online arrivals. I was hoping for things like fun party dresses and sequined tees (sans antlers!). I was also hoping for some sweaters that don't contain wool in the blends. It just feels uninspired to me.
ReplyDeleteAlright, I may not be all "whoopie" about the new stuff, but I just got the silver Lexie clutch for $70 plus free ship. Has JC been doing many late night updates recently? This is so awesome, I've been waiting for this to go on sale. There's a popback of a black cotton corsage cardi in M if anyone's still looking, too!
ReplyDeleteOT - someone may have already reported it, but J.Crew updates the website and adds the gift guide.
ReplyDeleteI'm really disappointed they didn't do more sweater dresses. I was hoping this rollout would have a couple. I didn't like any of them this year.
ReplyDeleteI think the items I'm liking in this rollout are retail only too.
Ho Hum, just saw the new arrivals on line and not 1 thing in my basket. What is up with all the wool blends? The bling cardigan looks like it is cheaply made, if you zoom in on the picture you can see the models tee shirt.
ReplyDeleteI was in BR today and saw their holiday rollout nothing exciting also.
Casual-crew, the bling-button looks to be the same gauge/blend as the long alpaca cardigan (and possibly the Dolce sweaters), which I saw in the B&M and it was totally see-through (and shopworn!). Love that they finally brought out the true red, though - just wish it was in something of a higher quality.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of the mint Griffin coat, although the description said it was lightweight wool - for almost $400, I'll save my $ and get something that will actually keep me warm.
Thanks-silver_lining you have saved me money.
