"Thanks!" to Marietta who let us know about the most recent email J.Crew sent this morning.
J.Crew announces that they are having a sale on outerwear for Women, with prices up to 30% off. This promotion is available online (click here to shop at their website). Although I wouldn't be surprised if brick & mortar (B&M) stores would offer a similar promotion. This offer expires this Wednesday, 11/4/09.
Also, as many of you JCAs noticed, the sale section (click here) updated this morning by increasing stock and even lowering prices for several items. It's a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the free shipping (no minimum) promo code LOVEJCREW which expires today, 11/2/09.
Will you be taking advantage of the outerwear promotion? Are there any coats that you are interested in getting? What are your thoughts on the outerwear selection this season (impressed or disappointed)? :)
I got a bit excited by the news of an update but really it is just a bunch of coats and not much new or lower priced that I could find....
ReplyDeleteGood morning Genny! The update happen early this morning (around 6AM EST I think). :) I checked online at 7AM and again now. I noticed that a lot of items sold out now. On a bright note, there is still a lot of new jewelry in the sale section that looks lovely to get. :)
ReplyDeletei got the evening primroise cami! What a deal with my rewards card and free shipping!
ReplyDeleteI was excited to see a sale on outerware since I have been holding out for a discount for a new coat but disappointingly the style I want is not on sale. I hate when J.Crew doesn't offer a discount across the board on a type of item, rather only the ones that they are having trouble selling. On a lighter note, a few items I had been watching did make it to the sale section.
ReplyDeleteAmaaaaaaazingly, the $2500 shadow shearling jacket is not part of teh 30%. Shocker.. And my fave, the Winnie coat wasn't included. Oh well, saving me some $$, I guess.
ReplyDeleteOk, I have what's probably a dumb question about Thinsulate. Is it removable? And if not, how much warmth does it add? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am going to pass on this sale. I agree that they should make the sale across the board on all coats. Also, I am holding out for the big markdowns after the holidays. I am hoping for some $99 deals. I am not overly impressed with the coat selection this year, but there are a few nice ones. Perhaps there will be more with the rollout tomorrow in stores, and the second one later this month.
ReplyDeleteThe thinsulate is not removable (or used not to be). It does seem to add quite a bit of warmth but also some heaviness. I live on the East Coast and don't get the thinsulate kind anymore as I didn't like the weight. It's personal preference I think.
ReplyDeleteOnline only per e-mail, so they can gouge us on shipping charges ... bite me, j.crew, just bite me.
ReplyDeleteRe: thinsulate .. I believe others on here have mentioned it's only the bodice that's lined, not sleeves, which seems counter-intuitive...
I got a little excited for this promo but unfortunately the coat I really want is not included. I have both the Lady Day and Plaza coats that are on promo and they are lovely, classic coats.
ReplyDeleteI also have a dark pink peacoat from 2006 or 2007 but it is so different from this year's version. It buttons up much higher and has barely any lapels compared to the Harbour peacoat, which is really cute but I'm just not sure about those wide lapels. Can anyone comment on whether they add bulk up top? I've already got enough going on up there, don't need any extra. Love the dried orchid and antique stone colors though. Nice to have some light colors in the sea of dark winter hues.
I don't need a new coat this year, so I won't be taking advantage of this promo.
ReplyDeleteI did use the LOVEJCREW code for the men's Lambswool Fair Isle vest and the Tango tank in black though. :)
I want a coat too, but the ones I wanted are not included in the sale. So I will wait for a better sale. I did find the Brynn dress in warm wisteria in my size for $39.99 so I got it.
ReplyDeleteRosa,
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty dress and a great price. Good buy!
I used the LOVEJCREW offer to get the following on sale:
ReplyDeleteheirloom flora necklace $49.99
petite crystal drop earrings $19.99
jeweled garland earrings $39.99
petite crystal bracelet $19.99
petite crystal drop necklace $29.99
petite poplin brynn dess $39.99!
Thanks Genny. I tried on the black version in store a couple of weeks ago and I loved it, but it was $99, so when I saw the dress this morning I almost die. It will be perfect for the holidays with a pretty cardigan and some long necklaces.
ReplyDeleterosa - nice score! i picked up some work shirts, another bucket hat, the cosettes for $59.99 and the soft violet bubble necklace for $59.99. if it were final sale I wouldn't have gone for the necklace (for fear it will just overwhelm me and be heavy), but Free Ship + returnability = yay : )
ReplyDeleteSydneygirl, thanks so much! I decided to pass on the thinsulate since I don't like bulk, either and I live on the west coast anyway :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to use the code for jewelry instead.
I've been contemplating the pea coat ever since I tried it on in-store back in September. Now that it's on sale I may bite the bullet...but now you've all got me wondering if the price will drop further. I don't know if I will gamble on my size still being available. The colours are great, you can't find those elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteCliquot, last year a lot of coats went way down, but this year I wonder if the inventory is as large? Hard to know. I've been wavering about the pea coat (either in poppy or the antique stone) and decided that since I'm not dying to have either one, I'll take the risk and see if the price goes down lower after Xmas.
ReplyDeleteI was excited to see the sale section (finally!) jump back up beyond the 300+ mark this morning. I used the LOVEJCREW code to order the Sherpa Puffer Vest in Dark Slate (item #17950) I'd had sitting in my cart for the past week (after seeing Busy_Mom_in_Ny's Polyvores here and here...and then making my own.) I had the Sherpa Puffer Jacket last year - which I wore every single day to the point that it's really not in wearable condition anymore. But it was SO warm and SO comfy!
ReplyDeleteRosa,
ReplyDeleteI love the purple shade and it will be great for parties this holiday season. Sounds (and looks) so pretty! I might have bought it too if there had been any 8's left but I also have a JCrew black dress that I got on ebay for a steal so have that to wear still.

ReplyDeleteI was excited about the lady coats being on sale. I sold my red one to a JCA a couple of months back since it was too big for me and was hoping to replace it with a different color and smaller size. So I surfed over to J Crew to get my new blackberry lady coat and the only color I want is the only color not on sale. Really, J Crew you continue to disappoint me. Nothing for me from this promo.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was also disappointed. The colors I like in several items are not on sale. I'm passing on the free shipping too, and hoping to see some great things in my B&M tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYay for sale updates! I was just able to get an XS cashmere tee I had been looking for! Now, if I can just get my hands on a small, cream ruffle cardigan (on sale last week, but I had no money then...).
ReplyDeleteWool ruffle-front coat is not included :( oh well, since I live in Minnesota it's already probably too late in the season to wear that thin coat!
ReplyDeletePer nymag, and not sure the extent of this.

I'm dying to know how the Duffle coat fits on. Has anybody tried this on yet. Its online only and the stores around me don't have them in.

This one wasn't on sale so I didn't want to take a chance.
I got the Lady Day in cobalt because there were only 2 8's left that were Tall and with Thinsulate (and I think zero regular 8s!) and I was antsy that they would be all gone soon. Sad that the ruffle coat was not included -- I would have gotten that as well, but felt I could wait it out until sale time.
ReplyDeleteI've never ordered a Lady Day or even a coat with Thinsulate, but I hope it works out! I just love that color.
sub -- I'm interested to hear about the duffle coat too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads-up, Alexis; hadn't received the email yet. I got the "dried orchid" shade of the Wool Harbor Peacoat. Was $220, now $175.
ReplyDeleteHad my eye on it for a long time--just enough coat for California coastal winters. The color makes me smile.
goldenmeans, i purchased an 8 in the lady day cobalt also. :) so hopeful that it fits well...that bright color lifts my spirits.
ReplyDeleteIs there supposed to be new roll outs at the B&M store tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteI just put up a post on the Carlin coat:
ReplyDeletehttp://gigisgoneshopping.blogspot.com/2009/11/j-crew-carlin-coat.html
I purchased the stadium cloth boulevard trench in bright bayberry. It fits perfectly through the shoulders (mine are very broad). It's a tad long in the sleeves and a bit big on me through the midsection but with more layers it's ok, plus the belt cinches everything. It makes everything look chic - especially when paired with jeans. LOVE the color. My sister just got back from Italy and said this is the happening color - purples are everywhere. Am kinda glad it wasn't part of the online promotion as I couldn't wait and bought it. But I'm glad. It's a nice quality and it's so fun to put on. It's my favorite piece right now.
