This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
NJ JCAs, is the 50% off sale still going in NJ? Could you tell me which store, please? Much appreciated
ReplyDeleteWhen I was there yesterday it was 40% and there was a lot of merchandise( Garden State and Riverside SQ.). HTH
Deletethank you so much, KnitYarns!
DeleteMaqsad
I am headed to the Clearance Center in Lynchburg, VA tomorrow. It's been a while since last pilgrimage. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteHope you get some good stuff! I was there last Friday. I like to go every couple of months. They had a TON of boots out last week so if you're in the market for some, you're in luck!
DeleteTaylor -- yes, I am actually looking for boots, so hope the supply is still there. Thanks!
DeleteI made a HUGE haul a few weeks ago. I bought cords, jeans, Minnies, boots, the shoes with the zips on each side, a tote bag, a sweatshirt and spent less than $250. One pair of the shoes I bought cost more than that and the tote bag was over $300 retail.
DeleteI will probably be visiting JC this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThree tops reviewed, incl the new red plaid flannel boyshirt. Regular fare, unlike yesterday's mess.
ReplyDeleteNah, I ordered the merino belted cardigan and that's all I needed.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get there. Have some returns from the recent promo. Keeping the chevron beaded popover. I really like it. Fits TTS. Returning the cashmere tee dress in black. For almost $300 I should be wowed by it but I not. Also returnin the sweatshirt that has zippers on the side. Fits slim through the body but enormous through the upper body area. Very unflattering.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the Exploded Flower tshirt is marked down in stores? I'd like to catch it but not at FP.
I like that red flannel shirt, but I can't decide if the side vents are too high. Anyone who has it, what do you think? I feel like I'd need a shirt under it or I'm going to show skin (and brrr).
ReplyDeleteI have it Cate and plan on wearing a favorite tank under it when I wear it not tucked in .I know what you mean it does go up on the sides.
DeleteThanks Mary G. I can't decide if it will bother me. The store didn't have my size so I tried on a size down, which fit me but the side vents weren't good. Maybe a size up will hang better. The tank is a good idea, thanks!
DeleteHi Cate,
DeleteI have that one as well and I agree about the side vents, so I either tuck it in to a high waisted skirt or throw a black cami under it and it works great.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Marielarue7! I'm not a tucker, but I think I like it enough to wear a cami under it untucked.
DeleteThe side vents were to high for my liking and seemed out of proportion for the shirt. I didn't find it to be a very soft plaid flannel either compared to others I have from jcrew. I was a little disappointed as I thought it would be my 'must have' of the roll-out.
DeleteI won't be visiting this weekend, but I did share what I'm loving from the new arrivals on my blog...See my picks in this post. :)
ReplyDeleteCheck out the...
ReplyDelete*blurred ikat top (surprise, but 100% poly)
*jeweled dolman top (thumbsup)
*chevron gilded shell (side-thumb)
reviews in this post.
I never would have looked twice at the blurred ikat top normally, but it looks really nice on you Gigi!
DeleteI 100% agree w/your review on that blurred ikat top. I mentioned it in reviews last week. I do think it's really flattering and like the pattern, but the material keeps it from being a must-have.
Delete@Marielarue7 - Thx!
Delete@Jruby18 - If only they'd done the ikat in cotton/silk. Ah well.
I can't believe the Drapey tuxedo top is already marked down. I just ordered the navy from Wednesday's roll-out. I hope the top works out. The red is pretty, too.
ReplyDeleteMight stop by today to return some stuff I got this week.
DeleteThe cocoon coat in P0 - I'm surprised the fit is small on me, because I own size 00 from a couple fall seasons ago (the green one that was promoted often). It was a tad snug around the armpits, upper back, and body when I zipped the coat up. Re-ordered a size P4, just so I can layer...
Oversize stripe long-sleeve tee - this in navy/white is sold out online. I didn't like the fabric, so I will return.
Hi the tux top... saw it in store today...for poly it is nice. good to get a mark down though. Yes ....the red is the orange J Crew red. It is nice. the ivory is white not ivory.
DeleteHi, I just came from a B&M. Yes, I saw the drapey tux top, too. I didn't bother trying it on at the store...I figured the regular size would not work for me, since I ordered it in a P2. I was interested in the ivory, too. Good thing you mentioned that its looking more white than ivory, I'll pass on that color.
DeleteThe SF store is packed with people, as usual, a complete mess. Lots of sale stuff @ 40%. In-case jewels are at 25%. The chevron gilded shell looks good, but I didn't try it on to know how it'll fit me.
Saw the sunburst faux leather midi skirt. Wow....edgy! It does look and feel like real leather. I can't wait to get this in the mail, hope my petite size works out.
A review of the J. Crew Gilded Chevron Mixed Shell here HTH!
ReplyDeletePurchased Collection Cashmere Stitch Sweater (b1646) in Espresso. Needed a brown cashmere sweater & it's beautiful. Excellent weight, tts (ordered my usual size med) & drapes beautifully. With % off sale & teachers discount, sweater was $76.
ReplyDeleteI love this sweater but haven't purchased it yet. What a great price!
DeleteOh no! I ordered it a few days ago in a size smaller than my usual size. I read the reviews and followed my instinct to size down since it's similar to the merino swing sweater. I hope it fits.
DeleteI have this sweater in brown, and I went down to my smaller JCrew size (M instead of L), and really liked how it fit.
Deletehi saw the slouchy wool pant in store. ick!
ReplyDeleteA review of the J. Crew Abstract Fair Isle Sweater here HTH!
ReplyDeleteAny reviews of the stretch merino wool sweater in stripes? Does it run tts and how is the sleeve length?
ReplyDeleteI went to my b&m today. It was packed, there were a lot of people doing returns. Tons in the sale section. I couldn't get a good look around b/c I had my kids w/me unfortunately. FYI, the mohair cardigan is already marked down to $59.99 less 40%. I got a PA on mine, bringing the price down to about $36. A pretty good deal at that price. I'm holding out for the Exploded Flowers T-shirt to be marked down. I really want that t-shirt but I'm not paying $45 FP minus the 25% off promo for it.
ReplyDeleteFYI...saw the boiled wool sweatshirt instore (sale section) this is the one with the think elastic waist/and sleeves. It looks shop worn already....a terrible mess. IMO
ReplyDeleteyes it looks old quickly (boiled wool...pilling) it looks huge in my size! This was one item when it first appeared that I thought I might like (thought it would sell out...) well its instore sale section (40%) off. Mickey....made a mistake again !!!
DeleteI was interested to try it too and saw it in store, but I also thought it looked completely shopworn, and pill-y and just sloppy.
DeleteThis is a sweater that's definitely an opinion-divider. Just to offer my 2 cents, I actually love this piece. Bought the grey initially with a % promo, and picked up the navy yesterday from the sale rack for about 75% off the original price. I have worn the grey several times and have not found a major pilling issue (store use is so hard on things), and honestly it is such a warm cozy weekend thing. The fit may not suit everyone, I know. There were lots on the racks - but I do think it is one of those things that works better on the body than the hanger. Or maybe I'm just kidding myself... ;)
DeleteHi cagliari67 - you make a good point about the shopworn-ness of their sweaters (this is not only a JC problem). Often, I'll try in-store and then order online so that I get something that hasn't seen a lot of try-ons. Most of the sweaters in my B&M look pretty raggedy. That's why the recent order fulfillment from a store bugs me - I wish there was an option when placing the order "if it's going to come from a store, don't bother". Ha!
DeleteThis sweater was so unflattering on me. It made my upper half look spherical lol. Add pilling to the fit issue, and I am not surprised this is in the sale section. Good boiled wool shouldn't pill like that.
DeleteI guess I'm in the minority. I love this sweater. I got one in lavender and one in grey. I did have to go down 2 sizes, but it's so cozy and looks good with skinnies. Well, at least I think it does. Since no one else seems to like it, I may get lucky and they'll mark it down even more, then the navy one will be mine too! :)
DeleteI'm intrigued by the sweater, it's just that it looked in such terrible shape at the store, that I couldn't even try it on.
DeleteI'm torn about this sweater too...i must be in the minority too because I love, love, love the fit. I tried on my usual size xs and it was perfect. Like, twirling in the dressing room perfect. Slouchy chic, drop shoulders hit at a perfect spot, didn't make me look like a football player. I loved it. But did I buy it? No, because I really dislike the colors. The only one that didn't look like it was going to turn into a pilled mess was the lavender, and it's not a color I normally wear. I was so tempted to take it home with me ,but it would get limited wear for sure. The light grey definitely looks like a hot mess in stores, and I saw it when it just came out! The fabric reminds me of last year's wool bomber jacket...that was one big pilled mess as well. I am so sad because I love the design....better fabric and more colors....please!!
DeleteI love the new fair isle scarf, blogged about it, my store was already sold out!
ReplyDeleteI went to the factory yesterday to make a return. I ended up leaving with the velvet pants in black. I have the retail version from a couple years ago that I love minus the fact they stretched out a lot. These are not as soft and comfortable as my retail ones, but maybe they will hold their shape better. I need to carry a lint roller with me wearing those though, unlike my navy pair.
ReplyDeleteI almost bought another shirttail mini skirt, but I'll wait to super sale. I have one and it wrinkles a bit too much for my liking. And on that note, I recently bought the retail zip pocket mini in black. Love! It is a tad too big in my normal size, but it helps make it longer for work. Hope it holds up.
Looking forward to the holiday rollout...it is soon, right?
I believe it will be right before BLACK FRIDAY !!!! and CYBER MONDAY !!!!
DeleteI think this one was the holiday rollout. There might be a mini-rollout soon, but I think this was the big one.
DeleteThere are some more holiday pieces pictured on the Maison KMV blog so one last holiday rollout. I agree with cate that last one was probably the bigger one.
Deletethanks....her latest pics and her coming clean on her connection to J Crew are not to be missed. Check it out!
Deleteso we do have a few more items to get excited about ! I do disagree with her about the turner pants ( I am not a fan ) thanks for the link.
DeleteI totally agree with you @Unknown. Those Turner Pants are very unflattering. It reminds me of sweatpants but made from wool...edgy, right?
DeleteThanks all! I forgot that that was probably the big holiday rollout...oh well! I usually go on Black Friday just for fun, so was hoping for some new things.
DeleteJust wanted to make some comments on my latest Factory Haul. Just received 6 packages from 1 order. Here goes.... Like the wool skimmers. Definitely fit like the cotton ones, and love that they're lined. Got them in classic black and navy. Liked the Factory Thompson pant. It fit like the skimmers. However, the wool was a little more substantial. Lined as well, and full length. Liked the green wool double serge skirt. Think it will go with a lot. Took my usual size. All in all very successful purchases. Thanks to all of you who gave your input on sizing.
ReplyDeleteOne last thing... anyone try the factory cashmere? In love with the red currant v neck, but I'm afraid to pull the trigger because I'm not sure on quality. Please share comments if you have purchased their cashmere. Thanks!
I purchased a navy cashmere V-neck two years ago, and it's still going strong. Some pilling, but I just treat it with care. I'd say the sizing and quality is equal to retail, but they don't usually have as wide of a color selection.
DeleteThank you. Just ordered it.
Deletesavvy shopper - So glad your skimmers worked out!
DeleteSaw the red currant this weekend when I visited a Factory store. It is very pretty. My poppy red color v-neck is about two years old and it looks just fine.
DeleteHas anyone tried the classic plaid scarf (c0856)? I was thinking of ordering it in black multi because the wool plaid scarf (b6848) in grey multi is already sold out! It just seems a lot longer and more narrow, though, and I was hoping for more of a blanket scarf.
ReplyDeleteThe B6848 scarf in gray looks like it available right now on the website.
DeleteIt's available on the US site but not the Canadian one, which is what I need. Hopefully they restock!
DeleteI just ordered it in the grey multi!
