This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the

in advance! :)
ReplyDeleteReviews from my Saturday visit here.
I reviewed some fringe and elephant parade items from the last roll-out on my blog.
ReplyDeleteA review of the Marled Boucle Jacket in this post This jacket is really gorgeous in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteSome mostly sale reviews and the Leather Paneled Dress can be found here and here
ReplyDeleteOops my bad, I haven't posted the leather panel dress review yet. That is coming...
DeletePSA: J.Crew Factory is having a 50% off sale on everything, including the herringbone puffer vest (which has been full price for quite some time now)! If you want one, get it now before the price goes back up.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I usually wear a small but went with the XS as small is sold out. Happy to snag it and it should work with a light layer underneath.
DeleteVans are ubiquitous so this review may not be helpful to many, but here goes.
ReplyDeleteI purchased a pair of the navy/brown/white print Vans in-store for $21 a couple of weeks ago. I love this print: IMO the brown is more of a maroon, which I really like. The sizing is "unisex" (men's). I normally wear 8.5 or 9, so I bought 7.5. They are roomy, and I can imagine that some folks would size down even more (in-store there wasn't a 7 to try on). My guess is that Vans wouldn't work for folks with narrow feet. After one wear I had small cuts (not blisters) on the back of my heels due to abrasive stitching. I have worn them a few times since but with pre-emptive band-aids. They are mostly comfortable but don't have any interior padding or arch support - sort of like Chuck Taylors, which I have been wearing for years.
I like them and am keeping them but would not pay more than the deep sale price that I paid.
Are those the striped ones, cousy? I have a few pairs of Vans slip-ons and I'm finding the sizing kind of inconsistent. The black perforated leather ones stretched out quickly and never rubbed. The suiting mix were comfortable out of the box and didn't seem to stretch much. The suede ones are tighter and I think they will take some breaking in to be comfortable (haven't worn these ones much yet). I wear a Ladies size 8 and have consistently bought the Mens 6.5 in the slip-on Vans. I think I could have sized up in the suede ones, though. Still might!
DeleteWow - you're a Vans groupie! :) I really like the suiting mix version and may get those too.
DeleteMine aren't striped - it is a paint spatter-like pattern. Currently $34.99 on the website.
I bought the heart-and-bee (was it called honeypie? I can't remember...) print a few months ago, and I have really wide feet. I found a YouTube video that recommended putting them in the microwave and then putting them on immediately to stretch them out, and it actually worked!
DeleteThey are still kind of irritating to my feet with the canvas rubbing, though, so I wear a pair of thin footie socks rolled down to my arch the way we sometimes do at dance class, and it works pretty well for me.
Vans are my flip-flops for the rest of the year :) And Dansko clogs. Shoelaces are a PITA!
DeleteOT: I am shopping for a really warm winter coat and have several that I'm considering. I'd appreciate any feedback or reviews that any JCAs might have on any of them. I've shared the ones on my list in this post, which includes coats from Pajar, Canada Goose, and The North Face, as well as several others. TIA!
ReplyDeleteMelissa -- Brooklyn Blonde did a post on her Blog (last week, I think) about a winter coat/parka that she found and loves. The brand is "Moose Knuckles" - it's Canadian. They are pricey, but do look nice and she raves about it. Check out her blog post here -- http://www.brooklynblonde.com/2014/11/cold-front.html
DeleteThanks annegav! :)

ReplyDeleteSunburst midi-skirt in faux leather: I took a size P4. It sat above my belly button. P2 is usually my size, but I wanted extra room. Its a good quality for poly. Looks and feels like real leather. Nice for those who are vegans. I'm not sure what process the fabric went through to give it that leather effect, but i hope it lasts well before I grow tired of it.
For reference, I'm 4'11, and the length is perfect, what you would expect from midi skirts. I plan on wearing it with the heather acorn cashmere boyfriend sweater and calf hair Harpers in hazelnut leopard. Such a fun and edgy skirt!
Girls' Buffalo Check Coat: I was hoping J.Crew would make a women's buffalo coat this fall but since they didn't (only a bomber style, which I think is a mess because of the way the fabric is sewn on the sleeves, refer to online pics) I thought about trying girls. I ordered a size 16. The cut of the body was fine on me but the length of the sleeves were long. I usually wear size petite with sleeve length of 30. Also, the fabric was itchy! I would assume J.Crew would source and use the same materials for both women's and crewcuts, but not on this coat.
Not a keeper.
Collection crepe scoop-back top: ordered it in Electric red. As expected the quality of a collection piece is always nice. And for the price I paid with the 30%, is a steal. Initially ordered size 0, the bust area was snug. So I reordered size 2. Hope it fits.
Maddie pant in metallic matelasse: I tried this on at the store. I tried it on even though it's not offered in petite. It's a slim cut that tapers at the end. Size 0 did not work for me. It's a pretty fabric, perfect to wear at holiday parties.
Painter tee with zips: ordered size S. In color bisque authentic navy. Runs small. I don't care much for the zippers. The sleeves are really long, especially on me. The feel of the cotton fabric is different than the regular painters I know. Not a keeper.
Drapey Tuxedo Top in navy: I was surprised by how nice this shirt is for a poly. Ordered size P2 and it fits perfectly. But I returned it hoping to get a better deal but now I'm thinking I need I reorder it since it's selling out in my size and color. The red is pretty too IRL.
Madewell Dugout varsity bomber in heather grey: I tried an XS at the store and was a tad snug, and tried an S and fits perfectly. I was never into the whole football varsity look...I don't know why I'm drawn to this jacket. It looks so cute the way it's styled online. I ordered it online and will decide between this and the grey cocoon in heather grey.
JSR - I tried on the matelasse Maddies (review here). I had the same issue as you did with length. I wish they came in petite. I would've gotten them. I think the fabric is very pretty & the opening price of $120 is good.
DeleteI know, it was pretty, and the price...J.Crew didn't make a lot of those type of pants this season like they used to every fall season...what is it called jacquard?
DeleteI do own the Maddie in a grey wool, size P2. I like how it fits me, i thought the fit with be the same with the matelasse in a 0, but I guess i would still need it in petite.
After seeing a few positive reviews last week, I ordered the Collection cashmere stitch sweater in grey and I love it. I took the smaller of my two sweater sizes and it is perfectly slouchy, very soft and a thicker weave cashmere. I could still fit a layer underneath as well. I like that the sleeves are a bit tighter but the body is still loose and it hits mid hip. I can definitely see getting a lot of use out of this sweater this winter. I just wish it came in more colors!
ReplyDeleteI also tried the Miller wash toothpick jeans in the tall length - I'm 5'8" and these hit just below the ankle on me...they're just a smidge too long, but I think the regulars would have been too short. I've been taking my usual JC denim size in the new toothpick jeans and I really like the higher rise.
Hi Guys! i was wondering if anyone has bought the J.Crew factory classic peacoat? I was wondering how it compares with the majesty peacoat in terms of quality and if the coat is warm. Thank yoU!
ReplyDeletesome reviews and comments here.
ReplyDeleteReview of the featherweight merino boyfriend turtleneck sweater. Thumbsup.
ReplyDeleteOT: I've shared my personal picks for the new HOLIDAY promo at J.Crew, as well as links to reviews and IRL pics from myself and other bloggers for many of the items on the list. Surprisingly (at least to me anyways), there is a rather large amount of items that I like, even though the individual rollouts have not been that thrilling as of late. Click here to see the post.
