Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I realize this is not exactly the right spot to ask the question about JCrew Credit Card Rewards...I was $10 short this year for the $25 rewards card. So close...but so far. What happens to the rewards that I've earned so far? Does it carry over or do I start from square one? The guidelines and restrictions was not exactly clear. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you. :)

    1. Hi Becky - I believe it's 500 points per $25 rewards. The points are carried over.

    3. @JSR, thanks for the information. Finally decided today to go ahead & get a JC cc. Might as well get some benefits if I'm gonna shop there. Curious to know from the JCA's if JC ever has point events. Nordstrom does this & you can sometimes earn as many as 10 points for every dollar spent. Love it because I can earn notes faster. TIA!

    4. Thank you @JSR for the info. Glad to know that the points carry over!! :)

    5. Mygoddy- in the three years or so that I have had the card they have never have a points type of event like you are talking about. That is a good recommendation though! Really the only perk I have seen is an extra % off for card members on sale or regular priced stuff.

    6. Don't get too excited about J.Crew's rewards program. They don't do much. Wish they do double points, so you can rack up points faster.

I'm spoiled with Banana Republic / Gap's cc; so many points, they're practically giving their clothes away with all the rewards I earn from the company, and I rarely shop from them. It helps having VISA tied to their cc.

    7. Agree with JessF and JSR. Adding that when there is an extra or higher % off for cardholders, they almost always offer that benefit to everyone when the next promo rolls out. Not a lot of advantages-I'm on the bubble about cancelling my JC card. I think cardmembers should at least always get free shipping.

    2. Jeez. Enough with the frivolous lawsuits already. There are far more important things in this country to get mad about. Smart consumers already know that retail pricing is arbitrary and over-inflated. As a consumer no one is forcing you to buy. If you are ever silly enough to believe that a sale price is actually a sale price then that's on you. My thing is, I'll buy something at the price that I think it's worth it to me and then let it go. Perhaps Mr. D'Aversa et al. should look into the diamond industry next...

    3. @D*ska, I agree. It's nice to see you back on the blog. :)

    4. I think this lawsuit is a good thing actually. Parallels other cases brought awhile back against jewelry stores for always having "stores closing" sales. If you never have to pay full price, then it's not right to advertise that way. And, even more problematic to use "valued at" in my opinion. Consumers may be more savvy to know about fluctuating retail prices - it'll be interesting to see what happens.

    5. Thanks jan! I missed being on here but having moved twice in the last year takes it out of ya.

    6. @D*ska, wow, moving twice would be exhausting! Hopefully there'll be lots of great things from Jcrew to post about soon. :)

    1. It changes season to season. What you see now for spring is what colors it comes in. They'll release two to three more colors when it's close to summer. Maybe for the March 8th roll-out...is there a particular color you are hoping to see?

    2. Ok, thanks! Hoping to see a deep periwinkle, soft lemon yellow, and maybe a softer rose/coral

  6. No visit for me this weekend, but I will be blowing it out next weekend...I am going to the clearance store and then also traveling to Nashville. I wanted to mention that I had bought a pair of the Collins suede loafers in black with the little tonal crystals on them. I wore them today and they are so cute and comfortable. I wish they would make more of this style in other options.

    1. Visiting the clearance store has been on my bucket list for a loooong time, but it looks like it is finally going to happen as we'll be in the area in May. What would be the best time to visit, I seem to remember from your posts
that some days are better than others? Any tips? Thanks!!

    2. I think Friday is the prime day as they usually receive shipments during the week that get worked and put out on the floor. They also make sure to get as much out as they can for the weekend. They also have access to the warehouse through the week that they don't have on the weekends. If you do on Saturday, go right at 10:00am when they open. If you go later in the day on Saturday, I feel that things are already picked over. I don't really have any other tips for the store but do ask if they have other sizes, especially in the shoes as they do have more in the back. Good luck!!!

      Delete
    3. Thanks DD, that's really helpful! Will try to go on a Friday. You always seem to find the best things there, hoping we'll be as lucky!!

      Delete
    4. Omg, I love those Collins loafers but they are more than I wanted to spend. Worth it in your opinion?

      Delete
    5. Well I can't really answer that because I bought them at the clearance store for really cheap, like $40.00 cheap I think. I hesitate to say this but getting things at such good prices has skewed my opinion on things. These are awesome quality and wear with everything sort of shoe so I might say yes even if they are a little pricey.

    3. I stopped by my store on Friday (to get the featherweight cashmere shell in pink that I had tried on and decided that I really want) and they told me that they will receive the new rollout tonight and new merchandise will be on the floor tomorrow morning (Monday).

  9. The April style guide is loading slowly on Pinterest, it says new arrivals online Mar. 8. Very early this month, I'm happy about that though!
A store SA told me this coming week is a small rollout then a bigger one in store before Easter, does anyone know if this is correct?

    5. So cool! Couldn't help but notice Erica's outfits. Loved her skirt from Fall 2015. Got some new ideas for styling. That gingham cashmere shell looked really cute paired with the denim jacket. I also hadn't paid any attention to that necklace but seeing it on her made me take a look. Know both were in March style guide but didn't give either any real attention. Great to be able to see them styled differently and in real life. Photos can't always capture that.

  11. Should have posted these reviews last Tuesday but just wanted to give my thumbs up to these items:
    - eyelet top with collar both in white and light peri, TTS, 100% cotton, would have preferred no zip at the back but still beautiful
-ruffled button-up shirt in stripe, classic Jcrew tailored and feminine look in one, took my Petite sizing, 100% cotton
    - silk scarf dot in navy, brings my navy merino sweaters up a notch, great accent
These were all part of my last 25% off order and nothing is going back. Love the new J.crew, our cooling-off period has ended and we're back in each other's arms.

    1. Hi Marie, glad you loved some items! Re: the eyelet top can I ask you about the fit- is it loose or more fitted; is the collar high and does it work tucked in? I've been really curious about it. Thx!

    2. @Marie
Your picks sound great! Do you happen to have the item # for the navy dot scarf? I didn't see it when I searched for it on the J Crew site. TIA!

      Delete
    3. Hi Jan,
I am usually a 4 and 6 in Jcrew tops but I took a 6 in this. Collar is not too high and the white one works well under a crewneck sweater. It can be tucked in but I prefer it tucked out because there is a nice detail on the side.

      Hi Wendy,
The item number for the scarf is f2460. Sorry for the late response but when I checked just now it's sold out.

    4. Marie, thank you! I was hoping to tuck it into skirts, not sure if that would look good. Hopefully they get these back in stock.

    5. Thank you so much. I can always catch it on popback now that I have the style number!

  12. I know that this question is out of place in this post, but when does J Crew update their sale section online? I am waiting for a couple of items to possibly popback, but I am not sure when to check!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's so random. It used to be more frequent that they'd post a big update to sale, but lately not as often. It also used to be that when a new rollout went online, the sale section would usually be filled with popbacks, but again lately not so much. Even on a day when it's updated, there is no rhyme or reason as to the time it's done. Seems like anywhere between 5:30am and 8:30am Eastern Time. Sorry, I know that doesn't really help, but I think it's how it's been lately.

      Delete
    2. Cate~That is what I thought! I used to find so many treasures in the sale section around 6 am, but I thought that I must have missed a memo that the time had changed! ! I have never seen the sale section go for days on end with no updates. Bummer!

      Delete
    3. It's like they are unaware that people like the sale section. Or maybe they're just trying to change the culture and get us to lose interest in sale and buy full price. If that's it, it isn't working. The sale section always drew me to the web site and inevitably I'd look for a ride along and start looking at the newer stuff. But the new stuff only draws me to the web site when there's a new rollout. The sale section used to draw me there every day. And now that I don't expect sale updates, I hardly go to the web site any more.

  13. Made my first ever Factory purchase today since I was near a store and everything was 40% off. Bought a striped scarf in a denim shade and a black v neck cotton sweater. Both decent staples at an adequate price. Still prefer jcrew retail though.

  14. Well, today I did my third online return THIS WEEK! And each time I've gone in, I've been so underwhelmed and left with nothing new. My JC purchases in general have been much less frequent these past couple of years and almost always have been online. I am finding my in store experiences so blah these days, and if I hadn't been hooked by JC in the mid 2000s I would totally not see the appeal. That said, there are some lovely pieces here and there, and I have JCAs to thank for pointing them out, as they are the vast majority of purchases that I look for online and end up keeping. The latest winner was the long peacoat which I was amazed to find on pop back last week. XXX to all of you!

  16. The navy Teddie sailor pants went on sale today, so I ended up trying them on and getting a pair. I don't really buy pants from J Crew, so I'm not sure what my pant size there is (I found the 0 in the Sunday chino with the sequin side stripe big, but it was the only size I could get for that at the time), so I went by my skirt size, which is 00. I had trouble zipping and buttoning it up, and basically got a wedgie in the groin area, despite my efforts to pull the pants lower to free up room there.

When I sized up to a 0, the waist and hips fit great (and no groin dental flossing), but the pants were loose, whereas I'm under the impression they're supposed to be fitted in the thighs. I went with that size though, as they were comfortable and I don't mind sailor pants fitting more on the loose side. (On a side note, I went to a vintage clothing sale today, and my vintage pant size is a 6, which I guess says a lot about vanity sizing today.)

Also, they were 30% off as a final sale item, rather than part of the 20% off your purchase sale. And I ordered the English lambswool scarf in Camel Red Blue earlier in the week when it randomly popped back, but I haven't received it yet. It would have nice for it to have popped back when there was free shipping though!

  17. Back to the quest to identify an item's real full price, list price, msrp, etc., seems there have been a number of lawsuits, and a number of penalties levied on online merchants. The NY Times took an interesting look at pricing practices this morning:

  18. FYI For Canadian jcas, a couple of toronto stores said new arrivals probably won't be on the floor until wed. or Thurs. so I wonder if all Canadian stores will be like this (later than the US)?

    1. When I went to Fairview, a sales associate told me they were getting 'new shipment' for new stuff on Tuesday, though I'm not sure whether she meant exactly that (just getting the new shipment then, but of course, that's going to take time to process) or that new stuff would also be put out on Tuesday. This was also brought up in the context of me asking if they had the Teddie sailor pants (which are on clearance) in the back, and she seemed to think that was an item for the new roll-out, so I'd probably take it with a grain of salt.

      Delete
  19. Thanks, Xan. I'm guessing they'll need til wed. or thurs. to get new arrivals on the floor then. Hopefully we get a decent promo for new arrivals. :)
