JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

After seeing the (much criticized!) washed cotton trench Rynetta blogged about and remembering this green version from Ema and other IG posters, I stalked the Military trench for the color and lightweight material. I only got it last week and have already worn it several times. I contemplated getting the side zip version that's also on sale. I have the wool version of that coat and think this is a little more flare at the bottom, that's a straighter cut. I know this pics are terrible and I don't usually wear it open, just did to show the jeans. I saw it popped back again this morning and I highly recommend if you like a green color instead of beige.

    2. @Suz Has, I saw that green trench on Ema and Maqsad a while ago, they both styled it so nicely so I, too, stalked and bought it on final sale. Agree with you that the green is such a nice color and alternative! There is something off about the coat for me -- the sleeves and length are too long so they both need to be hemmed for 4'11 me. Apart from that, I think it's a pretty coat. I love how you've styled yours with the jeans and I'm so glad to see you kept the pretty shoes!! I remember they were uncomfortable at first (I think that was you? I know a JCA got them a while ago and said they weren't stretching at first.) Great coat! (esp on sale!! The original price was ridiculous.)

    3. Yes, I kept the shoes! I decided to keep trying them. They're actually loose on me which may be part of the problem, it's hard to describe exactly why they hurt, but I'm glad I decided to keep them because they definitely make a statement. I'm 5'6" ish and the length of the trench is ideal for me. Is it possible for you to hem it? Personally I'd try to bring it into a store ASAP instead of eating a final sale item that doesn't work. Good luck!
