"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. OT but I'm looking forward to a weekend trip to Vancouver. Is anyone aware of in-store promotions available right now?

    1. hi...I live in Vancouver. Current promo ends tonight so you will have to check online to see if sale % is increased from the 30% it is right now> best store Robsen St. second Pacific Centre. I always check out both if I am downtown...because they do have a few different items at times. C

  2. I'm so frustrated with the "We wish we had enough" emails. J Crew should look at Zara as an example. Out of the many many sale items I've purchased from Zara over the years, only ONE item was ever cancelled, and they gave me free express shipping on the next order as an apology. J Crew should seriously consider investing more in their inventory/order management system to improve customer service in this area.

  3. J. Crew needs to stop with the stripes and plaid on their shirts....oh my lord!! SO BORING. I would only buy either of those if they were on deep, deep sale....Every roll out for quiet awhile now is a bunch of stripes and plaid shirts....not even different fun colors just boring, boring, boring...they need to start focusing more on patterns like in the past..

    2. sailor comment was meant as a joke. please do not take offense if you like stripes....

    3. I like stripes but I get it. I think there's only so many ways you can do stripes before you get sick of them

    4. I love plaids and stripes, but agree it's getting old. What happened to argyle? That's a preppy staple.

    5. I love plaid also, but I think the plaid shirts they have released recently are boring. The Garnet Flame Plaid Shirt and the Boy Shirt in Barbados Plaid are wonderful shirts with beautiful and unique color schemes.

    6. I'm also a lover of stripes and plaid, though re: stripes, I feel like a lot of these striped shirts are starting to look identical, save for minor variation in the necklines and fabric weight. Especially the navy and white ones! I liked that they changed things up a little with the wider rugby stripes and faux leather details on that one shirt with the back zipper awhile ago, but otherwise, it's all the same. To be fair, I can see why it's always good to have basics like that all-season, but they're all so close together and out at the same time at this point.

On the other hand, I also don't mind, as that's another reason for me not to buy anymore when I already have similar items.

  4. A little irritated with all the price hopping with JCrew. lady day double cloth coat on clearance a couple of days ago with 50% off and now today items is full price in march with no promo being applied. Come on....if you are closing out an item why it is now full price.

    1. I know what you mean. I bought a couple of the tiered crepe tanks a month ago on final sale with extra % off. These tanks came out last summer, but for the past few weeks they've been restored to full price online. It makes no sense!

  5. Three times in the last two weeks I received the wrong item when it was fulfilled by a store. One item was the wrong size, one was the wrong color and was was the wrong item and color but correct size. While I think it is great that I can sometimes get a nearly sold out item at a good price from the stores, it is frustrating to have the wrong item show up. Not to mention this cannot be cost effective at all for them. I have to spend my time contacting CS to have them resend if the item is still in stock. Also I fear the item showing up shopworn. I feel discouraged and don't want to order anything right now.

  6. This is more of a question than a vest but what happened to the Lookbook? There are a few items from the SS presentation that I am really interested in and I would like to know if they made it to production and cost. In an era where you can actually buy the items directly from the runaways I find bizarre that they dropped the Lookbook. Or is it me who is unable to find it?

    1. Where did you see this Lookbook before?

    2. I tried to find the Lookbook the other day also and couldn't find it.

    3. I miss those collection portfolios as well. It is always fun to see what makes it to production and what ends up in my closet.

  7. Someone had asked for the address for the warehouse sale in Greenville, SC on March 3-6. I think it was Nan...Hope you see this. The address is 1175 Woods Crossing Road (Shops by the Mall). Also, when I called to get the address, the SA at the clearance store in Arden gave me some terrible news...No more warehouse sales at the Arden location ever again. They no longer have the space, it has been absorbed by international shipping, that is why they moved it to Greenville. They said they will be looking for another location closer to Asheville going forward, wish it would be Knoxville. They have been running such good sales at the clearance store, I am not as devestated as I would have been but it still makes me sad. :( Greenville is another hour or so drive for me and would put me at a 3 hour drive one way. Also, I found out the other day that Nashville is getting a men's only store so they will be expanding the women's selection at Green Hills Mall when the men's stuff moves out. That is some good news I guess.

    1. Hi, DD. Sorry for your news. I remember many years ago when they had a clearance or sample sale in Nashville; too bad that doesn't happen anymore. I'm surprised to hear Green Hills is getting a men's store. I personally think that store has gone downhill-usu has different sa's each time I visit, dressing rooms are dirty/messy, and things seem generally a little disorganized. But more space is great news-the women's sale section had been decreased to almost nothing since they added Crewcuts. Maybe the store will get a 'refresh.'

    2. Very exciting! I hope the expanded women's section won't end up looking like the Cool Springs store. I prefer the look of the Green Hills store (yes, the dressing rooms do need to be straightened more), so I hope they keep that.

  8. Nothing like receiving your item with the store security tag still attached. This is second time this has happened to me.

  9. I went to the store today and I saw a dress that looks almost identical to SP15's double stripe cap sleeve dress (C0910). It's a nice dress, but I feel like the design team has just completely given up. Recycling literally last year's product is not "returning to the classics", it's just lazy!

    1. I saw that and thought the exact same thing. It's one thing to bring back classics, but anyone that wanted that dress got it last year. It's not like anything ever sells out for real at J. Crew. I've barely even looked at their stuff this year. I have a $75 rewards card that I'm probably going to use on third-party branded stuff (I love the Outdoor Voices leggings and the Nike waffle racers).

I won't be getting a reward in the next cycle because I've literally spent nothing at J. Crew in a few months.
