J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I stopped in store to try on a few things.

Bell sleeve striped top - thought this was really cute on the hanger (and on all the bloggers) but on me it looked clownish.

Embroidered t-shirt (gray with white) loved this too but it ran short. I'm 5'10 though so this will work for most. I didn't find this see though. A great summer t-shirt with great design. Sad it didn't work for me.

Leopard gemmas - I wanted to try a half size down in the leopard gemmas. I took my normal size in the plain gemmas (red and chartruese) but found the striped version to run really big. Leopard runs true to size so I ordered my normal size online last night.

Lace-up flat - I have the printed flat and absolutely love them. Took a gander at the pink version and it's the perfect neutral flat for spring through fall. Ordered last night in my normal size. It did take a few wears to break these shoes in - they were just the tiniest big snug on top of my toes but after 2 wears they are perfectly comfortable.

    1. *lol* liztriden-- bell sleeve striped top-- looked like a clown fish with two large fins on me ;)!! Somehow the dress looked better on me perhaps due to the ruffled bell sleeve not as overwhelming and balanced by the dress length.

  2. I have reviews of two online only skirts on my blog here. One - the circle mini in crepe was great; perfect fit, nice fabric. The other - the flouncy striped skirt - was a mess. Way too large and poufy, plus wrinkley fabric

    1. Amy, what perfect timing, I JUST saw this online last night while browsing sale and Wishlisted it so I could get a better look on my desktop (VS my tiny mobile browser). Can't wait to read your review!

    2. I really, really like that circle mini. I have the flared skirt from a few seasons ago as well as the plaza skirt (both in black). The flared skirt is shorter but still kind of cute. When the circle mini goes on sale I may need to get it, in either the black (can you have too many?) or red.

    3. Thank you for that review. I was very interested in the flouncy striped skirt. Key word: was.

    4. @amy Freeman, did you see the red aka "dark papaya" color in the circle mini? I'm tempted to order.

    5. lol, I received the flouncy striped skirt in the mail today. wow. it was so, so unflattering. it's too bad, because i liked the print, and the fact that it had pockets. I think all over pleats are not the way to go, in that fabric. I did get the circle mini in black already though, and it's great, really love it!

  3. Received the Collection Shearling Topcoat on popback and it's amazing. It's out of season for me now but is a great piece I know I will wear for years. I found the fit TTS and the current sale price with the % off sale brought the high price down quite a bit.

  4. Quick review on an item recommended by JCA Nan --
Boy shirt in bold stripe (item E7786) I have a thing for stripes and the color blue and this fit the bill nicely. Nice, light fabric, perfect for transitioning to spring. Like the buttons on this one, a bit of a pearl gray, iridescent color that contrasts nicely. Boy fit is relaxed, as expected, tho ran a little long on this shortie, so I will tuck it in (& don't expect to much fabric, as it's so light.) Like the pocket! Took a Size 0 (XS in Tippis, 4P in Perfect shirts, 00-2 in roomier pullover style blouses, for reference.) A touch of gaping at the chest, but nothing that a pin wouldn't fix. I wouldn't want to go up a size in this as then it would be too billowy.

@Nan, if you happen to read this, just wanted to mention that my shirt arrived folded origami style as well!! I had to laugh. I thought it was turned inside out, it was wrapped so strangely (particularly for such a standard item.

Also received a painter tee in a pretty Limoncello color, a pretty soft pale yellow color (also recommended by another JCA! You guys have great taste!) Color is pretty, but the shirt, in a Small was too snug, assaulting my person so I may exchange (just feels like a hassle for such a casual shirt.) I'm waiting on another item so may or may not exchange (VS straight-up return), depending on how that order works out.

    1. @TM93, totally unnecessary, right? All the folding on folding..pretty but still..
At least you liked the shirt. I'm happy for that.
As a curiosity,I received today the second one I had ordered and although it wasn't folded as the first one, it has the creases to prove that at some point in time , it too used to live like that.
And TM93, in case you didn't get to read a follow-up on the thread were you linked a BR stripped shirt; I came back to correct myself on what I initially though was the same shirt ( the one I got is Item #185284-1). My mistake and my apologies:(

    2. @Nan, my gosh, that is too funny about the second shirt being folded like that at some point in time -- I wonder why JCB didn't re-fold it like that when they sent it out? Maybe it came from a store and they don't know how to achieve that special style (or vice versa, from the warehouse?) Too funny!

I did see the other comments about our Banana conversation, thank you for the item number, it's really cute, too! #stripesalldayeveryday! :-)

    3. @TM93, that requires some serious folding skills..not for amateurs and definitely not easily replicated:)

You know, when I first got my "origami" a thought crossed my mind..
This has to be something that if I knew exactly where to pull , it would magically unfold into uncreased perfection:)

  5. Major shout out (again!!!) To @mygoddy!!! I was the lone person shopping in J Crew Saturday and on the rack was a lone daisy shirt IN MY SIZE!! Woo hoo!! I paired it with the navy striped v-neck cardigan today (again thanks to @mygoddy) and it looks awesome....so effortlessly chic!!! I am IN LOVE!!
