Check Out Madewell's Fall 2014 Look Book

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigisGoneShopping (in this post), who let us know that there are several images from Madewell's Fall 2014 Look Book over at Fashionista (click here to check out all 26 looks).

According to Fashionista (click here):
Back in March, when Madewell's designer Somsack Sikhounmuong walked us through the label's fall 2014 collection, he called it a homecoming of sorts: The Madewell girl had been traveling for spring — in easy, bohemian pieces appropriate for a European adventure — but for fall, she's landed back in New York City and stocked up on urban essentials like relaxed denim, great coats and, of course, plenty of leather.

Now, we've gotten our hands on the brand's fall lookbook in all of its expertly-layered glory. Beanies, hightop Vans, flannels tied around the waist, and the cozy, elevated sweats give the collection a sporty, tomboyish feel.

Though, independent of the perfect styling, many individual pieces can stand on their own: From the tough leather and suede moto jackets and chunky booties to the more etherial silk pieces and winter white sweaters, there's something for everyone to lust after for fall — myself included.
I am not crazy about the styling over at Madewell. However, I do like a lot of the individual pieces. I am seriously gushing over the oxford shoes.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming collection? Are there any pieces you are super excited about?

  1. That dark caramel bucket bag gives me life! I will be buying it.

  2. The styling isn't my favorite, but I am sooo looking forward to when these items are online! I have a feeling my wishlist will be growing exponentially. I can't wait to see all of the flannels shirts, scarves, sweaters, and bags!

  3. Thanks, Alexis!

Plaid coat, quilted jacket, quilted coat, leather skirts, cropped green sateen jacket & the windowpane plaid midi. I like those. Looking forward to seeing some of these in-person.

  4. That plaid coat has been on my must see list for months.

Gigi, Banana Republic has had some incredible options lately for leather skirts. I find their lengths to be wearable, even for my corporate job. As much as I love Madewell's skirts, they tend to be too short to fit my life.

  5. When does Madewell add new arrivals to their site? I like a few of these pieces... more so than what I've seen with jcrew lately.

  6. I thought Madewell was going to have some of the new items out today. It seems like it's always the day before JC updates their site. Obviously I am wrong.

I don't like the styling either, but have my eye on a few pieces, light grey quilted jacket, zipped cocoon jacket and the green sateen jacket. I am curious to see if the sateen jacket is prone to snags.

  7. I love the leather oxfords too! I'm also lusting after the black quilted jacket and that leather bucket bag, which I think is the Dylan (currently sold out online).

  8. They have a sneak peek fall 2014 pinterest board that I didn't notice before. They seem to update a little more randomly than J Crew.

  9. I know I'm going to like something, because I always like something at Madewell, but this look book isn't doing much for me. The styling is too piled on. I like the casual vibe, though.

  10. Love the quilted jacket and white-tailed shirt!!

Huh, that's so weird. My favorite look from their preview event didn't even make the lookbook! I hope it's still coming out...I see a similar skirt in black, I hope the cream makes it too!

It's the middle look shown in this photo from my twitter feed.

  11. I'm lovin' alot from this Madewell collection! Love the big plaids, all the coats, jackets and sweaters and the longer skirts! Hope this means we'll see some of the same things from the Crew.

    1. Just popped over to Madewell's site and saw a plaid vest I love! Except its $518.00. I'm kinda happy my size is sold out! Yikes! I didn't know Madewell had a "couture" line.

    2. It's actually Rachel Comey, that's why it is soooo expensive. thom browne has an even more expensive one (x2). Anyone seem similar at buyable prices?

  12. The overly layered styling aside, I see a lot of pieces I'm interested in. This is a first for me. It's almost like Madewell is becoming the J. Crew I used to buy from.

  13. I'm not that crazy about the styling either. The styling suits someone in their 20's, it's youthful. Like Alexis, I do like individual pieces, too. I can't wait to see the clothes in person.

  14. LOL I love the layered styling.....guess you have to be Canadian and dealing with minus 30-40 weather several months of the year ;-)

  15. I like Madewell but I don't love it -- of the items I have, the only ones I love are a few summer dresses and a couple of fall dresses in that thick, stretchy, very flattering knit fabric. And the llama necklace; bizarre, but I love that one. If I happen to be at a mall that has one (two near me), I don't really care if I stop in or not because it's so hit or miss for me. Whereas, even with recently diminishing interest, it still bugs me if I don't get to go in JC...

    1. Must add one more recent love -- the flamingo flock boy shirt, item a7616. This is like other Madewell boy shirts, fairly fitted, super soft. And FLAMINGOS. My daughter's favorite bird since her 3rd bday when she insisted we decorate front and back yard with them, to hub's chagrin.

  16. I love them!!! Madewell linked the entire lookbook through email last week and now they're all up on their pinterest. I love the sweaters, sweatshirts, and all the plaid stuff. I am also into their jeans. I'm not sure about the quilted stuff though. I never liked quilted things...

  17. I'm digging the individual pieces, especially the coats and jackets, but I doubt I could pull off any of those looks!

  18. I love Madewell personally, and have found a lot more to love there than I have at J.Crew for a long time now. This lookbook is no exception, although I don't really care for the styling. However, the coats, jackets, sweaters, plaid shirts, scarves, hats, bags...love them all, and look forward to their arrival on the Madewell website.

  19. I'm loving Madewell and the looks for this fall is no exception. Not a fan of the billowing pants and some of the styling seems a little much, but there are several individual pieces that I'm loving. My fav overall look out of these is the quilted jacket + long white shirt + skinny jeans.

The closest Madewell B&M to me doesn't seem to carry too much merch so I typically shop online. So far, I've kept about 75-80% of the things I order online that I haven't tried IRL - by far more than any other retailer I've ever shopped at! I think that says a lot about this brand.
