This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
Here's a link to my online JCREW reviews. I'm going to start doing picture reviews on IG and my blog soon, too:

OT new fall arrivals on Madewell's site this morning!
ReplyDeleteI am excited that the transport tote now comes in all black! There are some other iterations of this bag (crossbody versions and a colorblock version) that have caught my eye as well.
DeleteI agree, Mel. I'm hoping a paintstripe tote in the dark cabernet/navy colorway is on the horizon. I only see it in the medium pouch today, but my fingers are crossed. I also love the Lafayette bucket bag, the tiger's eye ring, and the texturework cardigan in cabernet.
DeleteA review of the J. Crew Posy Necklace and Bracelet here HTH!
ReplyDeleteLooking for reviews on the Merci tee (I know, old item). Since it's linen, wondering if it's better to size down. I had to do that with the Hugo Guiness tee (based on advice of fellow JCAs... Thank you! Perfect fit!).
ReplyDeleteHi Danielle - Gigi reviewed the Merci tee here, and Ina reviewed it here. HTH!
DeleteI have the grey version. I took my regular size small and it fits great. I think of all my linen tees this one actually fits tts. Happy shopping!
DeleteThanks for the link love, silver_lining :)
DeleteSame here, thanks for the link love silver_lining!!!
DeleteAnd thanks to everyone for the links and reviews!!
DeleteI cannot rave enough about the Military Shirtdress - to me, it's just cool. It does run a smidge big, but I like a dress like that to be a little loose, so my usual size was perfect. I have already worn twice - once layered with a long sleeve white tee underneath and converse sneakers and once alone with some open-toed booties. I will also be wearing it layered with a turtleneck, tights and boots come fall. Love this dress.
ReplyDeleteAnd one more thing, I have to say that my experience with shipping from J.Crew has been nothing but stellar. I know a lot of you JCAs have had issues, but I haven't had one (since the nightmare of 2008 when they changed their system!). I order online in the morning, choose the 3 day shipping and I get my package the next day. And I'm in Canada. Completely worth the $25 shipping charge IMO.
Agreed that the military shirtdress is terrific - especially layered. I'm really tempted.
DeleteI haven't had any shipping problems either.
I think I might be the only one who doesn't like the Viv flats. they're really nice, don't get me wrong and everyone's suggestion to go up a half size was spot on, but I don't know... they're a little too pointy for me.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the Viv's, but I damage pointed toe shoes pretty quickly, so my CPW is too high. I've managed to keep my Valentina's unscathed, but I baby them.
DeleteI would like them if they made them in reg. leather not patent...
DeleteSome reviews here and here
ReplyDeleteOff topic but Anthropologie has free shipping with no minimum today with code: JUSTBECAUSE. I figured this is big news since they don't do it very often and their shipping is so high ;)
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a free shipping/no minimum offer to get my adrenaline pumping! I took advantage of this offer and sent a few inexpensive, "just because" gifts to family/friends. Thanks, Anthropologie!
DeleteHas anyone tried the Barbour KIDS coat in size XXL? I'm hoping I might be able to fit into it.. I'm a 0-2 in J. Crew women.
ReplyDeleteI have the girls beadnell in navy with printed lining (02389) in XXL and it fits, if anything, slightly loose on me. I am nearly always a size 2 in JC outerwear, and a 4 or 6 in JC women's barbour jackets. I seem to recall someone commenting that the girls XXL was too large for her, and I think she was also a size 0 or 2...
DeleteI'm 00-0P. I got the XL boys Durham coat. The body and sleeves were fine but the armholes felt too high and small. I couldn't wear it with anything more substantial than a tee. The XXL would have fit me perfectly. I returned it.
DeleteHas anyone reviewed the quilted denim pencil skirt? The website says it is sold out but I am hoping it will come back. It is one of the few pieces in the new rollout I find interesting.
ReplyDeleteI just checked the website and it looks like the skirt is backordered in all sizes. I think it's been been this way since the roll-out first appeared last Wednesday.
DeleteOoops, should have proofread. Just one 'been'.
DeleteThanks for the heads up!
DeleteHas anyone tried the Quilted Puffer Jacket, b0210? I'm wondering about the fit, particularly the overall length and the sleeve length. I see it is offered on in petite sizes, too. It looks like it comes in some great colors.
ReplyDeleteRynetta has IRL pics of it on her site:

DeleteHmm...I think Rynetta only reviewed the quilted boyfriend fatigue jacket, unless I missed something. I, too, have been eying the quilted puffer jacket. The online description says the design is based on the downtown field jacket, but the listed body and sleeve length measurements appear ~1/2" shorter. Hopefully a JCA will have some IRL insights!
DeleteOh - I read it quickly and thought you were referring to the quilted boyfriend that most people have been mentioning so thought I'd be helpful. Good luck in your search!
DeleteIt would be easy to mix them up, the names of these jackets are very similar. Thanks, Sunny.
DeleteAt the very end of this ootd post (http://mysuperfluities.blogspot.com/2014/07/ootds-preppy-patriotism.html), I have two shortie reviews of some items still available at J. Crew, the Linen tee in anchors (in the teal color) and the pleated crepe shorts (red color). Unlike everyone else who sized down in the crepe shorts, I stayed with my usual size 10 shorts size since the pleats didn't lay right in the 8 since my thighs are a bit *curvy.* So if you are more blessed in your hip/thigh area, size to normal and you'll be fine. Yeah, so the 8 fit, but they didn't look great.
ReplyDeleteThis is what my VPS told me earlier today:
ReplyDelete"We’re such a feedback-based company, and love to hear where we’re spot on and missing the mark. I have some great news for you—we’re bringing back the Cece Flats! I don’t have specifics on when they’ll debut quite yet, but they’ll be coming back for fall and will be online only. I’ve submitted your feedback to the appropriate team in regards to the Biennial Hobo and the Collection Cashmere Tippi Sweater—we’re bringing back the Cece’s due to all of the feedback we received, so hopefully the same will happen for the Biennial and Cashmere Tippi. "
I'm super pleased to hear J.Crew is bringing the Cece back. The Emma just didn't work for me. I told my VPS that the difference between Ceces and Emmas is like the difference between cashmere and polyester. Can't wait to see what the colours will be. Speaking of cashmere...there are no cashmere tippi's on the website, which is very odd!
Yayyyyyyyy!!!!!! :)
Deletejnmullings - That is the best news I heard all week! And your comparison is spot on!
DeleteOMG I AM ALMOST CRYING WITH HAPPINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteAny reviews of the patio skirts?
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few reviews here of the patio skirts. I LOVE them. The key is really the waist measurement. My waist is 28" and the 4 fits snug. I am 5'8" and it falls just below the knee. The 100% cotton and huge pockets are the best.

Thank you for your help.

DeleteI love the patio skirts too. I like my skirts to sit at the hip rather than the waist, and the patio skirts sit at the waist, so I size up so they will sit a little lower. I am a 2 in pencil skirts and go with a 4, P6, or sometimes even a regular 6. IMO, exact fit is less important than with the pencil skirts, as the body of the skirt is billowy rather than fitted.

ReplyDeleteSome new arrivals reviews here.
Seems to me that there are lots of new markdowns, many not FS. I keep thinking that I am done, and then I get more. I know I've already mentioned this, but the stretch denim jacket in light blue is great, and now it's only $54 after the promo -- a steal. I already have it but got another one for a Xmas gift.
ReplyDeleteAnother new item, I think, are the eyelet flounce tops, which were discussed here when they first came out. Not FS. Also the hibiscus maxi.
Yes! The eyelet flounce top is on sale. This was on my wishlist in the black color and sold out for weeks. It popped back in my size and I ordered it full price just to see. Well, of course, I loved it, but I went back and forth and back and forth on keeping it because of the price. I finally decided it was unique enough and that I really loved it and decided to keep it. Well, this morning, its on sale + 40% off bringing the price down more than $100 to $77 (after 40% off is applied). I called for a price adjustment, which they were happy to do. The top is seriously cute, but not for the timid -- its a lot of flair!
DeleteThe popover in california poppy finally went on sale and come put to 41.99 after the 40%. It is very nice and works great into fall.
DeleteI have lots of reviews up from the Fall Arrivals.
ReplyDeleteSilk Sleeveless Blouse and Pleated Lattice Skirt
Endless Shirt in Stripe and Turner Pant
Funnel Sweatshirt and Lookout High-Rise Jeans
Mixed Media Sweater and Silk Sleeveless Blouse in Heart Dot
Suede D'Orsay Flats
@Audreybella - the leopard kitten heels look cute on you! Same goes for the lattice pink skirt...
DeleteDid you plan on keeping the kitten heels?
JSR - I didn't even get the kitten heels or the flats, as much as I wanted to. I have the Martina's in Calf-Hair and those are a good sub for me right now. But if there's a promo.... ;-)
Deleteaudreybella - many thanks for the shoe reviews. Regarding your recommendation to size down - I have had to size up (to size 9) in J Crew during the last few seasons. Do you think that I should take my regular size 8.5 or size down to 8?
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Cousy. That's a tough question. I am consistently a size 7 and rarely size down. Just guessing here, but I would say take your regular size if you are sizing up now. As an example (not sure if you have either of these) but I wear a 7 in the Martina and a 6 1/2 in the Seville Espadrilles. Both wedges but the fit/interior length is different. I was a 7 in the Janey's and Cece's but the Suede D'Orsay felt much more comfortable a half size down. I hope that helps!
DeleteHi Any reviews on the metal chain link ankle wrap sandal and sizing?. Not sure if I should get a sz 7.5 or 8. I'm an 8 in most flat sandals. Do they run big or TTS?
ReplyDeleteI have these and love them. I'm an 8 in most jcrew pumps, a 7.5 in jcrew boots and most other brands. These sandals run big in my opinion. I took a 7 and they fit perfect! I hope that helps!
DeleteHi JCAs! There are a lot of new promo-priced items & markdowns that have been added to the sale section yesterday and today. I've updated the promo-priced items & markdowns list with the new additions. The promo items are at the top of the list, and the markdowns are at the bottom. :)
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew Promo-Priced Items & Markdowns List
Thank you everyone who mentioned the crazy price on the suede Martina's. My vps just ordered them for me, I am so excited!
ReplyDeleteI got them too!!!
DeleteHas anyone tried on the Ruched Knit Dress? How does it fit? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI reviewed the Harper Patent Flats in Garnet Flame on my blog. I love the color, and they are very close to the Viv flats - the biggest difference being the more square toe box. I took my usual J.Crew shoe size (1/2 up from my regular size).
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a review of the eyelet striped dress item a6588? It's finally at a very reasonable 58 after discount.
ReplyDeleteHi Birdie,i did review it,but only on my IG( inawonderland5).
DeleteI tried a size 2, because they were out of my regular 0 and it was big on me.So i guess that means it is TTS. I am petite and it was long on me.
HTH
The embroidered pom pom tank is on sale and I love it...it does run tight on the top like the reviews say and the bottom is meant to be flowy so I was happy with one size up. The embroidery is beautiful and I see myself wearing it for a long time. I wore it in this blog post, where I also reviewed a few other J. Crew and J. Crew factory pieces.
ReplyDeleteI have some reviews up and mote to come, on my blog. Link through my name. Pictures of Vans for JCrew and madewell in latest post
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to be OT but can anyone that owns the leather Tillary Tote (came in warm sienna and blue sea from about 2 yrs ago) help-- I recently bought a pre-owned one in warm sienna and I need to clean it /moisturize it but am worried about the safety of that. I was going to try the Coach leather moisturizer. Does anyone use a product on theirs that has been safe/ successful? Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteHi JCAs! Review of the double-strap sandals, which are available online only. Currently $109.99 + TREAT.
ReplyDeleteI think I posted this on an older post - has anyone seen the Hibiscus Print Crossbody Bag IRL? now on final sale. I love the print but didn't think anything else would work for me, and I didn't think to try the dress for sizing before it went to final sale. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi JulieY, I reviewed this item just yesterday! Link through my profile name.
