Take an Additional 50% Off J.Crew's Final Sale

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigisGoneShopping (in this post), as well as Tiffany Rose (in this post), who shared the following email & promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering an additional 50% off final sale styles using promo code TODAYONLY. This offer expires today. The fine print includes:

Offer valid on the purchase of final sale styles at jcrew.com on July 10, 2014, from 12:01am ET through 11:59pm ET, and in J.Crew stores from July 10, 2014, through July 22, 2014. Offer not valid in Liquor Store or Ludlow Shops; in 769 Madison Avenue, Bloor Street or J.Crew Factory stores; at jcrewfactory.com; or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. In-store discount automatically taken at the register. To redeem online, enter code TODAYONLY in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promotional code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change. Final sale styles cannot be returned or exchanged.
It should be mentioned that brick & mortar stores are still running an additional 50% off all their Final Sale.

Smart move J.Crew! Many of us were surprised yesterday when J.Crew removed the additional percent off sale and offered free shipping alone. Many of us were also not surprised when the sale section sat pretty still.

So it's great to see this new promotion for 50% off Final Sale. It might help move the sale merchandise. Let's hope that J.Crew keeps this promotion around a lot longer than 24 hours. ;)

Surprisingly though, a lot of the Winter sweaters (looking at you Handknit Marled Sweater) have not dropped in sale price. Ugh. I am now singing "Let it Go" in my head...

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any in-store prices different than online prices? Please share!

  2. Thought I saw some lower prices this morning. Also Ebates is at 6% as of this moment. Made another order this a.m. and all these low priced items added up quickly to get me past the free ship mark (standard not the economy that I dread). I'm more than happy to stock up on transitional basics, summer essentials and the odd fall/winter pop-backs if they're priced right. This is how you move merchandise.

  3. Now that J. Crew has officially lost its mind and marked down Barbour jackets (with an additional 50% off), I happily broke my "no more coats" rule to purchase 2. Shopping cart total came to about $200 before tax. J. Crew, I take back everything bad I ever said about you (until I say it again)!!

    2. How does sizing run on the Barbour Hartbury? Reviews say it runs small but I'm a size 000/00- am I sized out? Also is it on sale in store and aside for the moss color, did it come in other colors? Thanks for any input!

  4. just a note that a lot of items seemed to have received additional cuts before the 50 percent off today, like the flower bud tassel necklace, polynesian stone earrings and necklace, crystal mobile necklace, cove floral surf dress and skirt, eyelet shirtdress, and crab top.

I'm somewhat frustrated that I bought a lot of the jewelry when it was the higher prices, but that's how the cookie crumbles, I guess! maybe with this promo we can see some of these pieces finally moving out of the sale section.

  5. Madewell is also running a 40% off promotion on sale items.

  6. I also wasn't going to buy any more summer items, but I saw the Collection Neon Trim Tunic in my size, so I took it as a sign. And I could not pass up The Collection Geo Brocade shorts for $30.

  7. I grabbed the Back-Zip Sandal and the Lace-Up Sateen shirt. The shirt didn't get great reviews on the site but I heard a couple people (Ema being one) sing its praises so for $15 I figured I'd try it.

  8. Thanks for the mention, Alexis. And yes, it's supposed to be confirmed true about Ryan & Eva having a baby.

Review here of the trench dress in Super 120s. $199.99 online and I'm pretty sure the same price in-store. The sale sticker was ripped off. The dress was an 80s throwback to me, and not in a good way.

  9. Does anyone know if the Abstract Flower sweater in linen is on sale in the stores? I've been eyeing it up online for a while but it's still full price. Finally decided to order two different sizes the other day, just to see how they fit, with plans to repurchase whatever size fits best when the sweater went on sale. Still full price as if today, but now all of a sudden the sizes are selling out!! Gah! I don't want to pay full price if the sweater is much cheaper in the store, but now my sizes are sold out and I will be hesitant to return them if a popback isn't going to show up. If the sweater is indeed on sale in the store, would they give me a price adjustment on the one I purchased online?

    2. They have been on sale in the stores for at least 3 weeks now, still saw some on the racks two days ago in my local JC - with the additional % off they are in the $25 range.

  10. nothing too flashy for me, but it let me buy staples like cashmere hooded sweaters, tulle bikini + gauze cover up, and cafe-capris in 2 different colors. I'm trying the "getaway hoodie" for the first time and the patch pocket hooded sweater too....hope they work, they look comfy!

    1. I love the cashmere hoodies! I bought one last week at a slightly higher price, but got another this morning when it was marked down to $130 plus 50% off. I can't say how well they hold up over time, but they're not too heavy, not too thin and are totally cozy! Enjoy!

      Delete
    2. I was tempted to buy two more Getaway Hoodies yesterday because the price was so good...$65 -- whaat!? But I refrained since I have two already. I concur, such a great sweater -- lightweight but warm, but it does fit like a regular sweater, so if you want it to be baggy, size up.

I love wearing these under denim jackets, like I did in the early 90s! :)

  11. I have the 6.5 in nikes, what size would i take in the New Balance? Any advlice?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Sunny, my Nikes are a 9.5 and I took a 9 in the New Balances.

      Delete
    2. I size down a half size compared to Nikes.

      Delete
    3. I buy a full size up in the Nikes. Normally I'm an 8, but bought 9 in Nikes. I don't know if I have to, but I like the way they fit in the toe box in the size 9. So I also bought a full size up in the navy blue New Balance and I wish I'd stuck with an 8 or 8.5 in those. They feel fine, but they look sort of long, my feet look a bit boat-ish in them. I feel like both shoes are probably TTS, I just like extra room in the toe box (wide feet). I think you could probably take a 6.5 in the New Balance or if you like extra room you could go to a 7 or 7.5.

  12. I gave in and bought two Tippis...midnight and heather dove.

  13. I'm weak. I bought some of the boatneck bateau striped tees, which were only $17.49 each. My store's sale selection usually only has the XXS and 00 sizes [not my sizes] and I think the tees will be a nice transition to fall. At least, that's how I justified the purchase in my head.

  14. I've been stalking the black/white embroidered floral racer back top for weeks now, waiting for my size to pop back. I grabbed one this morning for both the lowered price and the 50% off. $35!!!! Plus, I called and asked for price adjustments on the bristol herringbone linen trousers and the downtown field jacket, which they gave me, saving me enough to make it seem like I got the top for free. Yay, good scores for me today!

  15. I showed great resistance and tried to avoid putting my sales goggles on, (the $15 sweater isn't a bargain if you're never going to wear it). I came out at $159 for five items, great fall pieces and one summery item
    Collection Brocade Shorts
Cashmere Getaway Hoodie (I sized up to a large since reviews said they ran small) in grey
Merino Tippi in brown and heather turquoise
    Motorcycle pants

I may return before the sale period is up, I was on the fence about a few items but I think I did very well. I am also usually good about reselling or consigning stuff in my closet to offset any new additions, some previous sales goggle purchases will be listed to eBay :)

  16. I'm so bummed that I missed the linen Amazing tee, I've been stalking it forever and now it sold out :( On the up side, the skinny zipper pants are only $25! I picked up a pair with the last sale and will definitely pick up another pair today. They fit true to size (in my opinion, although some reviewers thought they ran small) and are so flattering. I wore them in my blog post today here if anyone wants to see them 'in real life'.

  19. Has anyone tried the Featherweight Cashmere Henley? Item # A1580. Reviews are recommending ordering DOWN one size (?) I'm always a size Small in sweaters and am afraid of getting a sweater that is tight fighting. THX!

    1. Hey pathos, the first review on the website is mine (under the Dska moniker). I did think that it ran larger but I chose to not size down. It fit only a little looser than on the model. I didn't try ordering my next size down to compare but I'm definitely considering ordering it in XXS in the sunwashed blue color since there's no XS left. I'd say, if anything, stick with your regular size since it's not super slouchy like a boyfriend fit or something, especially if you're thinking of layering. HTH

      Delete
    2. I love mine and got it in my regular size and that was the absolute right choice. I snagged it for like $50 during one of the recent 50% off sales and it's well worth it. Haven't worn it yet, but I know it will get worn a lot in the fall and winter. I love their Featherweight cashmere. Back to sizing, Gigi had done a review that disappeared, but I recall her saying the sleeves ran a little snug and she was right. They're totally fine and not tight, but if I had sized down, that would have been a problem. Sizing up would've made the body too loose, So, TTS and I think it's a great deal. HTH!

      Delete
    3. I should clarify that I got the "tipped" featherweight cashmere henley, but it looks exactly the same as the regular ones, but wanted you to be aware in case for whatever reason, the sizing might run different.

  20. Just bought a new house so have not been shopping in a while. But bite on this promo, got 2 Tippis, Downfield Jacket. In petite, white boy shirt and espadrilles, had to throw in something for $1.49 to get free shipping but total was $150.21. Was surprised that most of the items were not FS but still 50% off.

  21. Great sale! I am so thrilled to get a couple cashmere hoodies at those prices! I got the zip and getaway versions. Wanted one for so long but never hit a sale at the right time where it felt like a great deal and my size was available in colors I like. Feels good to do some fall shopping at these prices too! Of course that did not stop me from getting the beach heart t shirt. Then, I went to my B&M at lunch and picked up the linen cargo capri drawstring pants for about 30 dollars. Shopped out now, but happy! All things I really wanted even before the sale. I'm surprised more of the cashmere basics have not sold out by now. Maybe I'm in the minority by thinking of my fall wardrobe!

    2. Nope Sunny, you're def not the only one. I've picked up a few more transitional and cold weather pieces - another cashmere henley and a cashmere getaway hoodie included. I know that they'll be full price for most of fall when I'll want to wear them.

    3. Everything I've bought with this crazy sale has been with colder weather in mind, I loaded up on merino at the store and everything I bought today with the exception of the geo brocade shorts has been fall/winter. I was surprised too that very practical colors are still available but happy to stock up, the classic pieces in classic colors rarely go on sale to this level IMO.

      Delete
    4. Referring to the classic styles and colors in the cashmere pieces that is :)

    5. Totally agree Katertott. I've never before paid such great prices for classic colors and styles in cashmere and merino wool. I picked up colors like navy, heather gray, and ivory. I'm not a fan of the neons and I've already got plenty brights. I wish they'd continue this sale into tomorrow. I'm sure there will be some great pop-backs tomorrow.

    6. I grabbed two more cashmere getaways in heather indigo and deep ember, as well as a Tippi in charcoal and a bandana and the minaudière in photo floral. Total was $200. I calculated the retail to be around $800. I think I'm finished :)

  22. I stopped in my store today to make a few returns and ended up with a cotton no. 2 pencil skirt in seashore (the color online is nothing like the real color - online it looks to be a royal blue - the color IRL is more of an azure - very pretty color!!) The skirt was $59.99 before discount vs. $79.99 online. I also bought a jersey stripe maxi in the grey/navy colorway - $55 before discount. I also have a few cashmere basics in my cart pnline as well as the structured mix lace shell which I tried on in store and didn't buy but now am second guessing. I took the smaller of my two top sizes in this one...comes in marine salt (pretty much white) and black. I wonder if they'll go back to 40% off tomorrow or what...

    1. I'd been wondering about that blue color of that skirt! Glad to hear it is nicer than it looks online. I ordered the cotton no2 pencil in "dusty pomegranate" and sent it back without even taking out of the bag, it was a brick red color, and not at all like the color shown online.

  24. I also picked up a couple of the cashmere hoodies with the 50% off. I wore my black one a lot when we moved to Montana earlier this year, so I know I'll get a lot of wear out of the additional colors. I almost ordered one of the Barbour jackets, but while I was contemplating the purchase, it sold out in my size. Congrats to those who were able to get one...that's a really fantastic price, especially for such excellent quality.

  25. Picked up jersey maxi in black and gray( they should be able to transition to the fall), bit on the downtown jacket ( selected a tall small, does anyone know if these fit tts?) and decided to give the skinny zipper pants a go since they were such a steal. Also took advantage of Madewell 40% off / free shipping and picked up a maxi I've been eyeing. Love that Madewell is so generous with their free shipping promos!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I bit too. Got the downtown field jacket in navy (hope I like the gold buttons, a little concerned about how bright they are), the geo-print scarf, two pairs of 4" chino shorts, the patent vivs in pale graphite, and the striped bateau in gray/white. Thought about the cashmere but was wary of final sale, although all of you are starting to convince me I should have taken the gamble. :)

There were 1800+ items when I logged on at 5:30 am, and despite this fact I was amazed how hard I had to look to find things I wanted to buy -- even with 50% off. The styles (and especially the shapes/tailoring…or should I say, lack thereof) are just not appealing to me right now. No wonder they aren't moving merchandise. I found it kind of sad, actually.

The reviews on the website really helped with choosing the sizes. For example, I sized up in the lace-up sateen tee, and sized down in the gemstone floral silk tee.

I really wanted the linen rib knit sweater in that pretty mauve but it sold out in my size and is now completely sold out.
