"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Finally got the navy equestrian sandals only to find that the store had taken all the tissue out of the box but left the store sensor on the right sandal. Had to take it by my local store to have it removed. What a pain. However, I do love the sandals. I hate when the stores take all the tissue out of the sale shoe boxes. What difference does it make? They could at least put a piece in there when they are going to ship or when you are buying them. They put it in there for a reason when they first pack the shoes, it helps to protect them.

  2. I'd like to complain about the little holes that I found in their 100% linen knit tops. I didn't notice the holes while trying them on but did when I got home to take the tags off. It's like they got snagged on something. Both tops are short sleeved, one with a subtle gray/cream stripe on sides/sleeves and back with a muted peach solid front, and a white one with the gold plastic beading look around the scooped neckline.

    1. Terri, I would take it back. If you don't have your receipt and you paid by credit or debit, they can look up the transaction.

    2. They were a final sale. I just wondered if this was happening to others' tops in the linen knit. I have a long sleeve one that seems to have more give and durability, also 100% linen knit. I'm thinking that a drop of Fray-Check will keep the holes from getting bigger.

    3. It shouldn't matter if it was a final sale if the merchandise is defective. I had a hole in a short-sleeved linen tee this summer and they took it back. J. Crew has been great about it in my experience.

    4. My experience is similar to cate's. Final sale item. Mine was also a linen tee. I had only mentioned it in passing to my VPS when he was pulling another linen tee for me to try. He said to bring it back.

    5. I ordered a factory linen knit tank just recently and it had little holes in the back. Mine was a new item so I sent it right back, but I would have done the same for final sale if it was defective. I'm not sure if this is the same fabric as your tees, but you're definitely not the only one that has found holes!

  3. Okay, I'm having another serious "let it go" moment. The Collection Organza Trench Dress is back.

Yep, this is the same one that Silver Lining identified TWO YEARS AGO as having a hilarious and enormous rip in the front seam in the photo. I can't believe that they never fixed that.

  5. Got all my final sale items and like them exxxcccceeppptttt.....that cashmere getaway hoodie is not feather-weight, but might as well be. It is almost see-through in the buttercream colour. I hate it. It is also smaller than the zip hoodie in fit. I am never lager than a small in jcrew even when I hear that the fit is not generous yet it looks painted on in the arms etc. a medium would make the shoulders sloppy. I will be keeping the tags on and consigning it to hopefully make back some of the money I blew on it. 50% off still feels like a rip off when the product is not what you expect. Arghh!

    1. I think you should call CS and tell them your concerns regarding the item. You are not happy....they should agree to some sort of solution for you. Good luck... I have had alot of luck with just being honest and up front about final sale items with CS.

    2. Thanks. I will give that a try.

    3. I bought the same sweater in buttercream and was also not pleased with how shear it was. I was able to return it to my local J Crew for store credit without a problem.

    4. Unfortunately I would have to mail it back. No store returns in my country

  6. An item I wanted is on popback, final sale, but back up to FULL PRICE so the promo codes don't work! It's almost a year old, I'm not paying $198!!! Boo.

    1. I feel the same way. I was going to order the downtown field jacket because it was supposed to be on sale until today and it went back up to full price! Argh. I really hate it when jcrew changes the prices before the end of the previous sale. Nordstrom it is.

  7. Over 1900 items in the women's sale section this morning!

  8. Years ago, I could count on JCrew for quality fabric, great style, surprising details, consistent fit, great cut, and overall superb quality for a good price point. It is less and less so today and really disappointing. Instill like JCrew because there's not really a good alternative, but I'm rarely delighted anymore. The quality is rarely there.
