Take 40% Off Sale at J.Crew {plus Madewell & J.Crew Factory deals}

"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the following promotion from J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, & Madewell.

J.Crew is offering customers to take an additional 40% off all sale items (no min) with promo code STYLE40. Yey! This code expires Sunday, July 7, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of final sale items in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from July 4, 2013, 12:01am ET through July 7, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. In-store discount automatically applied at the register. To redeem online, enter code STYLE40 in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. All sales are final. No exchanges or returns. Terms of offer are subject to change.
I am shocked to see such a high percentage off for J.Crew's sale items! On the other hand, I am not happy to see that Final Sale is back. Ugh.

J.Crew Factory is offering an extra 50% off (automatically applied at checkout) everything. This offer expires Sunday, July 7, 2013. They are also offering free shipping (no min) with promo code CELEBRATE online. This offer expires today.

Lastly, Madewell is celebrating with their own promotion: customers can take an additional 30% off sale (no min) and free shipping on all orders (no min) with promo code HAPPY4TH. This offer expires Monday, July 8, 2013.

Will you be checking out the promotions over at J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, and Madewell this holiday weekend? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. In anyone's experience...when J.Crew says something won't be shipped until a future date, does it truly ship then? Or does it ship earlier...or later?

    1. I've had it go both ways. Most of the time it ships before the date. Sometimes it ships way after (preorder banana tank and wool navy cafe capris). Sometimes it takes so long I had forgotten I ordered it!

    2. In my experience, things usually ship much earlier.

Only once did my ship-by date get pushed back later and later, then got cancelled. My VPS kindly honored the price I paid (sale) on the same size and style of a color that was in stock.

  2. It's a mixed bag. Sometimes I get things early.... and sometimes the date really is correct and you get it three months later! I literally got a pair of flannel pjs pants 4 months later. That was a bit of a shock! So, yes it ships eventually! Good luck!

    1. Yikes. I'm moving in a few weeks, so I hope the date is correct.

    2. I don't think I have ever gotten anything after the given date. They seem conservative with their backorder dates. Good luck, hope you get them in time.

    3. One time I ordered a necklace from Madewell that had an expected ship date about one month later. As the date approached, I got an email saying that it will be just a little while longer, stating a new later ship date. I really wanted it so I just figured it would show up eventually, but it never came and I more or less forgot about it. A year and a half later I noticed it in my order history while sorting something out with CS and I asked them if I could still expect it to be shipped (I had not gotten a new ship date since the last time), and they said yes! I think they just didn't want to tell me to cancel my order and maybe were hoping one would eventually find it's way back in stock through a long lost return. Anyways, this is certainly not the norm (this was a sale item as well), but I thought I'd share my experience. Usually it ships shortly before the date in my experience, although I've gotten the email pushing back the ship date a couple times as well. I'd be wary of popbacks or things on sale that might have really sold out.

  3. I found some great pants today at Factory. They are a cotton/linen blend, navy blue, wider leg and a tie at the waist. Anyone try these? They are the perfect length on me and fit how I wish the current retail casual linen pants would fit. They were in the sale section, so 60% off today. Also bought the Factory version of the Quorra flats in a nude/tan color. I doubt they are leather, they seem cheaper than the retail version, but I still like them. They were selling the Madewell Sidewalk Skimmers there, too. Whole store was 50% off except sale which was 60% off.

    1. Hi cate - are they these? I have a pair and they are fabulous. The tag says dry clean but I'll probably just try cold water wash and line dry.

I'm very curious to see which Madewell items are at the outlets but they're just too far away to justify a trip. Boo!

    2. Yes, that's them! I never noticed them online. They were great in person, you never know what you're going to get with J.Crew pants. If you wash them, let me know how they come out.

I'd read a few people here found Madewell things at the outlets, but I only noticed the Sidewalk Skimmers. They had tan ones and red ones, but not a lot of them.

    3. I've got those from last year and love them. I machine wash cold and line dry.

I have them in white, and my one complaint is that mine have started to pill slightly where my backpack wore against them (wore them while traveling). It's not very noticeable, though, since the linen naturally has texture to it.

    4. Rosie, thanks, I didn't even notice them last year. I'm glad they washed and line-dried well, sorry to hear about the pilling. I guess I kind of expect it from Factory when things are so discounted, doesn't bother me as much as when it happens to expensive retail things.

  4. There was a large update this morning with new promo-priced items and lots of new markdowns (Merino Tippi sweater in school-of-fish print - $69.99, Water-ski girls silk tank - $99.99, and Collection café capri in Ratti regatta print - $139.99 to name a few). I've noted them all in this post on my blog. :)

  6. Love the free shipping on all orders at Madewell. I was able to snag the herschel supply co.® settlement backpack in polka dot yesterday with the extra 30% off and free ship. There are a couple of other items I've got my eye on, so I may place another order before the extra % off & free ship ends.

For those interested, there are a lot of promo-priced items at Madewell right now that also receive the extra 30% off. I have the listed here on my blog.

    1. Was the promo different yesterday? It says the polka dot backpack is excluded from the promo today when I put it in my bag.

    2. Hi Phoebe - the promo is the same, but the backpack I bought is sold out now. It is this one, item 56938 in Olive polka dot. The polka dot version still online now is not on sale or promo, unfortunately.

  7. So weirdly, two Lulu Frost necklaces are on sale/promo and the Style40 code worked on them for me this morning, bringing the price down rather dramatically. I ended up just grabbing both. Please check it out, if you are interested in her necklaces.

  8. dreaded final sale. Will definitely cut back on my purchasing

  9. Final is sale may be a drag for some, but for me personally, I definitely know what I've been loving, what I've been coveting, what I want, and what will work--so the items I haven't bought yet--with this 40% off were really more price affordable for me to finally snag. So--I got the things I've wanted for a bit--and am HAPPY GIRL!

    1. Agreed. I have a hurry up and wait approach to J Crew now. I try things on, decide what I like, and (try to) wait patiently for it to go on sale. So final sale doesn't bother me.

    2. The only thing I've had sell out on me was the floral eve liberty popover. Everything else I've been interested in was still around at sale + percent off.

  10. I got the school of fish tippi ($15) and two polos ($10 and $15) for my husband today at the Murray, UT BM. I didn't see anything else there that I want -- I would definitely have to describe the current sale inventory as dragging on.

  11. I DETEST Final Sale especially now that I don't have a J Crew store to try things on. I am going to save a ton of money though so that is the good thing about Final Sale!
