This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
Just a quick note about the Double Crepe Skirt that I just got in navy. It is GREAT. I have to send it back for a smaller size, but I love the overall shape and fit (aaaaand the pockets). It's a very weighty material, definitely not a skirt that will fly up with the wind. I'm very excited about wearing it with just almost everything I own...
ReplyDeleteMaribeth Espadrilles. I love them in the tan and navy colors and ordered the Neon Persimmon color. They looked regular orange to me on the web site, but they really are neon and are going back. They are cute, but a little too bright for me.
ReplyDeleteI've done a bunch of reviews lately including the pencil wrap skirt found here, Tuxedo stripe cafe capris, Maritime Blazer, Boyfriend Popover and Colorblock Mini (and more) here and some newer arrivals here
ReplyDeleteOT. Not sure if anyone is looking for the Swoop Punk Floral dress in size 8. Saw it at Park Meadows, CO (303-649-9620) store last night. $129.99 plus a 30% discount on sale items.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, I saw a whole bunch of these dresses at the Robson store.
DeleteLots of reviews up from the past few weeks. I have a few more to put up, but I'm just to tired to add them atm. But if you're in the mood for browsing...
ReplyDeletehere are the shirts and tops
here are the sweaters & blazers
here are the pants, shorts & skirts
here are the dresses
Have a good 4th!!
Ponte Peplum top - This is a lovely, well made top. I'm really bummed that I could not make it work for me. I tried it in my usual size, xs, and it was waaaay too big. It gaped horribly at the armhole/ chest area with the bust darts hitting too low. I exchanged it for an xxs and this size was almost workable, just a little too tight, so I returned it as well.
ReplyDeleteThere was such a big difference between these two sizes that I'm wondering if maybe the xs was mislabeled and I was sent a small by mistake. I'd love to know what experience other JCA's have had with this top. I'm wondering if I should re-order it in xs again and would love any advice. Thanks.
Thanks for the review maryeb. Did you try calling JC for measurements? I was curious about this top too. It looks very cute online.
Deletemaryeb - I reviewed the peplum top in this pos. I wear S or M in J Crew, mostly S. You definitely need to take your usual alpha size or size down one. It's possible that the same size might fit differently so you might want to try it again. It now also comes in a stripe version and that one is really cute.
DeleteI just wanted to add that I've tried the JC version as well as the Madewell one and I think I like the Madewell one better. It has a side zip with a hidden smaller zipper as opposed to the chunkier covered zipper in the back on the JC one. I think the JC one ran a bit smaller than the Madewell one. Regardless, I am waiting/hoping that either one goes on sale as I don't think they're worth FP.
DeleteI tried this top in the ivory colour. I found it ran big as well. I tried my usual JC top size (small) and found it was much too large. I tried the XS and the fit was better. However, I decided not to get the top as I found the peplum was too high waisted in the XS. I do have a long torso so this may not be a problem for others.
DeleteI ordered and returned the navy peplum top. I got my usual size (XS) and it was too loose. I didn't try sizing down, because I was afraid it might be too short. It's so cute though. Wish it had fit!
DeleteThanks so much for all of the feedback. It's helpful to know that I'm not the only one with fit issues. I did see the Madwell version and was wondering if it would be a good option.
DeleteI remember seeing your review, Gigi. I went back and read it again, thanks.
I hadn't thought of asking for the measurements. That's a great idea, Bigger Closet.
Review of the paisley tunic, like the retail dervish.

ReplyDeleteReview of the Factory scalloped lace top. Thumbs up.
ReplyDeletei just got my Ratti Pineapple Skirt (#52857) and I LOVE IT! I'm usually a size 4 in these types of skirts and that what i went with and it fits perfectly. I'm 5'4" and it hits just above my knees but is not a real mini by any measure (for me anyway). I love the pineapples so much I may have squeeled when I saw it.
ReplyDeletei know i know. i don't think this skirt received much love from you guys and some complained that the original doesn't feel so special anymore... but I wasn't able to afford J.Crew years ago but I can now and I love that some of these prints are coming back and that i don't have to get into a bidding war on ebay for them.

ReplyDelete40% off all sale items in US stores today, July 3rd. Thanks to Maqsad for the sale alert. Got the Fish Tippi for 17.99 after the 40% off. SA is NOT sure until when 40% off will be in effect but she indicated at least until July 4th.
