This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER
arrivals {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I am looking for a gift, so I might pop in.
ReplyDeleteSome reviews here.
OT: There was a very large update to the sale section this morning with 1300+ items for the women, and lots of popbacks, too.
ReplyDeleteI may stop in to the Tampa store this weekend if I have time. They were doing some kind of change to the store over the past few days, so I'm interested to see exactly what it was. Otherwise, I'll wait and try to visit the Orlando store later in the week when I get back home. I'm hoping the stores will continue to offer the extra 40% off, too.
ReplyDeleteOT, the Silk SorrentoTop is still showing as a pre-order item, and is on Final Sale. It looks like a lovely piece, but pre-ordering a FS item?
ReplyDeleteIf you want me to gamble, you gotta comp the room and the food, J.Crew.
pre-order, Final Sale, and hardly a size left, what a combo.
DeleteLOL! Well put, WFF!!
DeleteThat blouse was sold out almost immediately after appearing online and I am guessing was marked as pre-order due to a waitlisted ship date. I *think* it went on sale recently but not sure.
DeleteIt was marked down this past Wednesday, and sold out very quickly. Then it popped back again in all sizes yesterday, too.
DeleteI've been trying to get there all week and finally today, I think I'll make it. I hope the 30% off is still on.
ReplyDeleteAsk them if they have the new catalog! I'm tempted to go in just for that reason.
DeleteMe too, Cate. Has anyone been able to get their hands on the new style guide?
Deletewill def ask for the new catalog. They're usually super nice about that at my store. I'll report back.
Deletehi, the new style guide is in the stores. i just got one yesterday night, they were still in a box behind the counter. -masha
Deleteif any of you need pictures, ill be happy to send them. i dont have a scanner so i dont know how to scan the whole thing/
DeleteA bit OT, and I apologize if this has been posted everywhere. But I'm fascinated by some of the new offerings at Factory. There are the Liberty knockoffs, there is that green Swiss dot blouse, there is that dot sweater (white sweater with black dots Katie Holmes wore). And other things.
ReplyDeleteI wonder now if that questionnaire thing was more about Factory than JCrew. Were there many Factory questions? I wonder if their true aim is to control pricing a bit more--migrate lower paying customers to Factory, and have fewer sales at the JCrew store. If I were running JCrew, that's what I'd want.
Of course, as a consumer, I just want to keep buying JCrew intelligently. ;-)
Unknown, the questionnaire was about J. Crew retail only and the instructions specified several times to answer based on J. Crew only, not J. Crew Factory.
DeleteI thought that was really interesting and wondered why.
I saw the Swiss dot knockoff sweater on the factory site but it is a blend rather than merino like the original. The blouses are poly instead of silk. There is a navy cotton Charlie sweater with a red anchor that looks cute but I probably don't need it since a already have the lobster sweater in the same colors.
DeleteIf anyone sees the Carrie dress in big dot in a size 00 or 0 could you please let me know, or put it on hold and let me know? TIA, stay cool everyone! :)

I called a local store and learned that the tortoise flower necklace is marked down to $49.99 + the additional 40% off.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like that was the last one available at that store, but I saw a few available at the 91 5th Avenue store in NYC when I was there earlier this week.
Are you a fan of this necklace? I have been on the fence because of the large diamond-looking gems on it, but at $29.99 it might be a great price! Would love to hear your thoughts.
Amanda - You can see the tortoise flower on Rynetta, on Shop With M and on Tweed & Toile (scroll down). I have never tried the necklace as I thought it was a little 60s flower power in shape, but I do think it's really cute each time I see it on a sa. The rhinestones don't come across that big, imo. The in-store price is crazy now.
DeleteThanks so much for your thoughts and for linking to these other sites. I visit Gigi's Gone Shopping often-- It's a great resource and I definitely appreciate your opinion!
DeleteAmanda Lee - Thank you! and you're welcome. FWIW, I bought both of them. I'm not 100% sure about the flower necklace for me, but it really looks so cute on everyone else I figure I'll like it, too.
DeleteI called the 5th ave location, and they didn't have anymore, but the sa was so nice and looked for one. I ended up doing a charge send from the Columbus circle store, so with shipping it was around $37! Thanks for the tip about the price!
DeleteYou're very welcome! I'm glad I could help.
Deletehas anyone tried the Ruffled knit dress (#22043)?
ReplyDeletei hate final sale and i'm always nervous about ordering something i haven't seen in person. i'm usually 2 or 4 in dresses so i could go either way with XS or S.
or do you think a VPS can waive the no returns clause on it?
I have the same concerns about final sale items I haven't seen live. My VPS offered to waive the no return policy, so they definitely have the ability.
DeleteI ordered this dress this week and have it sent overnight for an outdoor concert. I was nervous too since its final sale however I was pleasantly surprised! I got a navy size small. I am usually a size small in jc dresses or a size 6 in pants. It fits perfectly. I was able to adjust the top to fit wider. It hits below my knees. I am 5'6" , 127 lbs and have a 32" inseam for reference. The knit is like that of the maxi skirts. It is doubled so there is no seeing thru. The skirt is very full. I really loved it. Cute, comfy, can be dressed up or down.
DeleteThanks, guys!
DeleteI got in touch with my VPS and asked her about the dress. She said I could prob get away with XS but she waived final sale and ordered XS ans S just in case. And she gave me the 40% off on top of it. My only concern is that some of the confirmation emails from jcrew about the order still say Final Sale Cannot Be Returned on the dresses. Soooo I hope that didn't get messed up afterall. I guess I'll see and just email her again if there's a problem.
Miss JR: The receipt/invoice will still say Final Sale on it, but if your VPS is allowing you to return, then she has made notes on the order that it is ok for you to do so. You should not have any problems returning either dress, or even both of them together if they do neither one works out for you. :)
DeleteThat last line should read...if neither one works out for you, not if they do neither one. Sorry!
DeleteDoes anyone know if the Tilda is on sale in stores? I am studying for the bar exam and could use a treat for myself! :)
ReplyDeleteI would be interested too, it is the ONLY thing on my wishlist that would make me venture into a B&M.
Deletethe tilda is not on sale. i was at the store on wednesday and then again yesterday night and it was still $110 in both colors. the SA said they just received a new shipment of those last week. the 00 is backordered until end of august or early september.
Deletedarn! thanks for the quick response!
DeleteAll knit and woven tops were 30% off at my local Crew today. That would include the Tilda.
DeleteA few tops reviewed in this post, including the golden pineapple tee. The pineapple tee is on promo for 30% off in-store vs $29.99 online.
ReplyDeleteMany tops are 30% off in-store. Unknown is correct that the Tilda is not on sale. I haven't seen the August style guide in my store. Someone mentioned it another thread and said there 'are fall items' in it, but I don't recall any specifics mentioned.
Another pricing note -- the tortoise and crystal necklace was marked down online to $89.99 yesterday. It's $39.99 in-store + 40% off. Yikes!
For more pricing info visit the Irl Pic Guide - Sale & In-Store Prie Guide
Gigi...what store did you see the tortoise necklace at? Thanks.
DeleteMirna L - The tortoise necklace is out of stock where I am. You can have a store associate it order it thru the computer (their red martini system program) or the red phone if they still have that in the store. HTH
DeleteSome lowered prices in store today:
ReplyDeleteColor block pointe dress 39.99
Minnie in bright berry 19.99
Tabbie T strap in silver 59.99
Princess seam knit dress 39.99
Havana clutch 39.99
Scout chinos 19.99 in natural and midnight
Starting to put out new arrivals in store
All prices are BEFORE the 40% off!
DeleteFalse alarm about new arrivals -- the boxes they were unpacking were Crewcuts. SA said new arrivals will be in store on Tuesday.
Deletei have been wanting the scout chinos in midnight for months now but their online price keep bouncing up and down like crazy and they never seem to hit a low price when i would actually consider getting them (i.e. when i'm placing an order anyways or there is free shipping). hearing that they're $12 in store is really frustrating. :(
DeleteOT: I've been told that there will be a dark green wool pencil skirt in the next rollout!!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is, Rynetta, it's called Heather Pine! In double serge wool. It's got your name written all over it :)
DeleteThanks SO much, Cate!!!! You know me well!!!
DeleteThey should just rename the No. 2 the Rynetta :-) It sounds much prettier!
DeleteI second that motion...no more no. 2 pencil skirt....it is the Rynetta pencil skirt bec. she wears them soooooo well!
DeleteAwwww, you're SUPER sweet!!!!! What a kind compliment! Thanks!!!!
DeleteI agree with cate and Shekster! I think the Rynetta is the perfect name for the skirt! :)
DeleteAwwww, Shekster and Fabulous Florida Mommy, you're both super, super sweet!!! What a compliment! Thanks SO much!!!!
DeleteOh what a great idea! That would be a much better name than the No 2 pencil skirt!
DeleteI'm very much looking forward to seeing this green wool Rynetta skirt!
ruth: Awwww, you're super sweet, thank you!!!! I can't wait to get my hands on that beauty!!!!
DeleteI don't own any No 2s, but if they renamed them the Rynetta, I would have to buy one ;)
Deleteso excited about the color and 100% agreed on the name change :)
DeleteAnthro Blogger and shopmurphy: Awwww, thank you both SO much!!!! You're both super sweet!
DeleteI'm a terrible person. I stopped in. There was exactly ONE Collection tipped linen jacket in my size. And this amazing VPS who has been very kind to me lately--I'm to the point I want to call her "my VPS"--somehow managed to mark it down further than the tag showed and then took off 40% and now the jacket is mine. I won't say for how much (but not much at all) because I wouldn't want her to get into trouble in case she wasn't supposed to do that. But I LOVE the jacket.
ReplyDeleteShe said to come back Monday and Tuesday to see the Fall rollout!!!
LOL! You're not a terrible person! Stores (including my local one) are notoriously bad at updating discounted prices on tags. That's why I always check here and at Gigi's (thanks Gigi!) for the most current markdown price on items. The prices are the same across stores (generally) and are correct in the computer system, it's just that the tags aren't updated. Frustrating? Yep. :) HTH!
DeletePaula - I'm so glad it helps! And I'm thankful to the JCAs that contribute pricing info because my store doesn't tag all of the updates either.
DeleteNew Schoolboy will have a longer length. New Andie chinos will have a hint of stretch. Beaded chambray shirt. Fun looking crazy pants (cafe capris). Pretty new Liberty print perfect shirts. Models will have bedhead but look happy lol. I like this catalog a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review cate. I like the idea of more crazy pants for fall since the summer offerings have been a little disappointing!
DeleteShopping Celle, one pair is called Diamond Foulard in navy/rose. Another is called Pinwheel Foulard in gray (my favorites, these are more a neutral look). There are shorts shown in Tile Jacquard in navy, but I can't tell if there will be cafe capris in these. There is a mini-skirt shown in Jade Foulard but can't tell what else will be in this print. I like all these prints.
DeleteHi Cate, did you see any pretty shoes or patterned pencil skirts? TIA
DeleteI happened to see the beaded Chambray today. It is beautiful. Really beautiful.
DeleteHi Shekster, Leopard Sloane pumps, Studded Darby Loafers in suede in black or dusty charcoal, Darby loafers in calf hair, the Etta Printed Captoe look interesting (printed with a foulard in what they call navy but I see jade in it too), Studded Everly pumps, Everly in Mirror Metallic, Everly in a pretty color called vintage mulberry. Janeys in metallic captoe. Oxfords in mirror metallic and in leather vintage mulberry. Etta pumps in snakeskin in neon amethyst. Etta suede in wild beet or byzantine blue. Valentina pumps in patent in new colors including acropolis blue (love this), Valentinas in a nude snakeskin (gorgeous!), Valentinas in two different calf hair colors. Milo Mary Jane (looks flat with 3 straps/buckles). The Nora printed captoe stands out, can't quite describe it, it's kind of crazy with a black/white/burgundy/army green color mix. Quinn Ankle Cuff (probably saw these in lookbooks?), in suede or leather and they look high but it's hard to tell.
DeleteNo. 2 pencil skirt in Tipped Double Serge Wool in heather carbon, love it. It's gray with a navy waistband and navy vertical stripe down the side. It's shown as having pockets?! There are not a lot of pencil skirts shown in this catalog. If you like pencil skirts, you might like the Gwen Dress in colorblock in navy. It's very pretty with a nude contrast color and looks like a pencil skirt shape.
Sorry that got long-winded! :)
Unknown, yay!! I thought it had potential, can't wait to see it in person.
DeleteI can't wait for Tuesday! Thanks for all the previews; it sounds like there will be MUCH more to love about this rollout!
DeleteThe style guide makes it look good! I haven't seen anything in person yet.
DeleteI feel like I should have put a SPOILER heading on my post!
Oooh cate. Your descriptions of the pants sound great. Can't wait to get a visual to pair with your descriptions.
DeleteShopping Celle, missed it the first time through, but it does show cafe capris in the Tile Jacquard print.
DeleteThanks Cate! I am drooling over the shoe colors and I can't wait to see them!!!!
DeleteCate, did you see any of the fall sweaters? Thanks.
DeleteJulie Seifert, they didn't show a lot of sweaters in the catalog. There is a jeweled short-sleeve sweatshirt, the Merino Tippi in navy embroidered tile (see Rose's blog for the catalog picture), a lace front sweatshirt, a jeweled tee sweater that has sleeves that go to just above the elbow, baseball style with burgundy sleeves and navy body, with lots of big jewels at the neck line (surprisingly $98, thought this would be more), the merino swing sweater (it's in stores, it's round, wasn't a fan when I tried it on), the merino boyfriend sweater we've seen before, a featherweight cashmere collection jeweled-collar waffle sweater which is short-sleeved and has what looks like a white faux collar peeking out with jewels on the tips, the merino Tippi in mixed-stitch that is in stores (chevron pattern), Tippis, a silk mohair sweater in heather canvas (ivory)($298), the fair isle back zip cashmere ($298) that you can see on Rose's blog, a cashmere collection pointelle dot (I think this will sell really well) in navy or gray with amethyst or mango contrast dots, collection beaded diamond sweater (looks like big jewels or something stuck on it, short sleeves, purple looking), cashmere v-neck, the cashmere cardigans etc that Alexis had a photo of on this blog, a cashmere collection buttonback in colorblock ($238) in acorn/sand/snow (my favorite) with an interesting colorblocking on the sleeves and at the neckline.
DeleteRandom question: I am 20 wks preggo and absolutely cannot find maternity shorts that are anything but fug. Have always loved JC's 3" inseam chino shorts (usually live in them during summer) and so am contemplating a purchase given all the cute colors and the add'l 30% off right now.
ReplyDeleteQuestion for all the mamas out there: can non-preggo shorts work for preggos if one just sizes up enough? I don't think this would work for pants, given all the extra material, but I feel like chances are better that shorts could look ok (for awhile, at least). I am 5'8" and wore a 4-6 pre-preggo, but I haven't gained much weight so far (+/- 8lbs, all in my belly) so am thinking an 8-10 might be the ticket (for another month or so, anyway!). Advice would be greatly appreciated!
Chino shorts wouldn't be my choice. Did you see the Cotton Faille Pull-on Shorts (item #01850)? They are sold out online but maybe you could find them in the store. They have an awesome elastic waist and came in green, navy and ivory.
Deleteoooh too bad I missed those; they were cute! Thx for the tip; maybe they will pop back sometime.
DeleteI am currently 38 weeks and I wore two sizes up until about 25 weeks, after that I would have had to size up too much and they would have been way too baggy. I bought two pairs of ON shorts that were the most my style (a plain pink pair, and a red anchor pair) and a pair of maternal America seersucker. I just don't know for how long you would be able to wear them. My weight gain at 20 weeks was 6 lbs and now at the end I'm up 25, and buttoning my shorts is such an exciting thing to look forward to ;)
DeleteYou can just size up for the first 20 some weeks but then you will need a panel. Trust me on this one. It feels so good once you get bigger in the belly. Have you tried Gap Maternity? They have great skinny fit jeans and shorts. I just has my fourth last October. I am done I think but do get just a *little* weapy thinking of being pregnant again! Enjoy!
DeleteFirst pregnancy?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I would buy some cheap Old Navy shorts with elastic.
Yes, first (and most likely only). The ON options don't really fit my style, and @ $20 the JC chino shorts are not much more than what ON is offering. Thanks for the idea tho!
DeleteOh, I know. I don't own any ON shorts either. ;-) You know, to be completely honest, the best investment I made when pregnant, was a pair of pregnancy jeans. I spent the money for a designer pair--Citizens or something like that--and I wore them constantly. A friend advised me to do this and she was so right. And after the baby was born--I ended up with an emergency C section (sorry for too much info), I continued to wear those pants.
DeleteSo, that's my advice to you. If you are on the East Coast like me, then jeans are probably the last thing in the world you want to wear! But the heat will pass, and a pair of comfortable, will stretch with you jeans are really worth the money.
Congrats on the pregnancy. I know it sounds trite, but you are truly on a marvelous journey.
I also invested in Maternity jeans (AG). Good choice for me. Mostly bought shoes while I was expecting! The Toledo Ohio store had a lot of the elastic waist shorts.
DeleteHas anyone seen the enameled elephant bracelet in store and if so, how much was it? The one that keeps popping back online is still too much for me. TIA
ReplyDeleteThe New York Madison store had it for $39.99 before the 40% off last Saturday. They only had two left and of them was missing a stone. -masha
DeleteThanks so much! I will try them.
DeleteWell, I'm back from my store. It was empty of customers. And the sale section was totally picked over. And they wouldn't cough up a new catalog either. Very disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI also stopped by Madewell and their black ponte peplum top is already marked down to I think $49.99 + 40% off. I grabbed it b/c I actually like it better than JC's version (which is very similar, though) and still FP. I think it came out to like $25. For that price, I think it's worth it!
Looking for a gift, so I will be going.
ReplyDeleteI was told Monday morning there will be the fall rollout.
was pleasantly surprised when i was handed a coupon for $15 off my next online purchase at madewell after checking out. Anyone else get this??
ReplyDeleteyep, I got that too,
DeleteDeep markdowns at my store today, which had a healthy-sized sale section. 40% off all sale, 30% off button down shirts. I got 4 different belts for $5 each, yes $5, after discount.
ReplyDeleteSchoolboy blazer in dotted linen $79.99
Origami bow dress $59.99
Cafe capris in navy and black $29.99
Some sort of light blue polka dot capri $39.99
Various leather belts $9.99
Multicolor stripe scarf, both colors $19.99
Darby suede loafers $79.99
Yellow-green boardwalk skirt $29.99
All other boardwalk skirts marked down, don't remember exact price
I went to the b&m at the Mall at Short Hills today. The store had nice displays and a full stock, but I managed to leave the store empty-handed.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, my visit to the Factory Store at the Liberty Village Outlets was more successful. There were many items remade from previous retail seasons, but I think sometimes things are better when it gets to Factory.
I got the following:
* Skimmer pants in polka dot. These pants were the best surprise!
* Peter Pan collar tee. These style well with the above skimmer pants.
* Peter Pan collar tee in polka dot
* Printed cotton sateen mini
I liked that the Peter Pan tees are cotton and are very soft and comfy.
The pants and skirt were 40% off with promotion and the tees were 20% off. The nicest SA gave me an addition 20% with some coupon he had. Not sure which one it was, but I never say no to more discounts!
If anyone sees a dotted linen schoolboy blazer in a 6 I'd love to know where! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThey had every size yesterday at the Jcrew at Short Pump Town Center in Richmond, Va. Call them! They were all 40% off and if you're a student they'll give you the extra 15% off on top of it !
DeleteSaw three at Montgomery mall Maryland but don't know what size they all were- 3013652000 good luck!
DeleteThanks guys I called both but unfortunately no 6 at either
DeleteLaura907 - email me gigiofca@gmail
DeleteHi Gigi, I actually just drove the 30 minutes to my store and had them order it through the catalog for me for the store price. Thanks for all the help though I really appreciate it!
DeleteCan anyone comment on how the retail signature leggings compare to the Factory everyday leggings? If you can also offer any comparisons of the adult versions to the girls leggings, both retail and Factory, that would be great, too (since I might also fit a girls size 12--I fit tops but haven't tried pants).
ReplyDeletecate - I can't reply :( but beaded chambray shirt and crazy pants and Liberty shirts and Valentinas in calf hair and double serge wool pencil skirt with tuxedo stripes? I'm in trouble ...
ReplyDeleteYes you're going to be in trouble lol! I hope they do a percent off promo with this, fingers crossed.
DeleteHas anyone seen the orange bucket bag in store???
ReplyDeleteAnyone visited the B&M today? Is it still 40% off sale?
ReplyDeleteyes! Still 40% off
DeleteGreat! Thanks, Katherine.
DeleteMy store is still 40% off. Put up a couple reviews:
ReplyDeleteJeweled Medallion Sweater - Not my style, but pretty cute and tts fit pics
Linen Beaded Sweater - cute, but not on me!! ran super tiny, especially in the arms.fit pics
Ponte Peplum Top - Just ok. It ran a little small in the bust. Not a fan of the back zipper. Material is so-so. fit pics
Review of the rattan clutch and the multistone bracelet from Groopdealz here.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of getting a pair of the Etta's in chocolate leopard. Can anyone weigh in on the sizing? I am normally a 9 in the Martina's and a 9.5 in the Everly's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
ReplyDelete
