J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  2. I tried the Lace-Front Sweatshirt last time I was in a store and was rather disappointed... I was hoping for a slouchy, comfy sweatshirt, and it fit more like a bulky sweater. The material isn't especially soft, it's very slim in the arms, and the cut runs a bit short. I'm petite at 5'2", with a proportionally longer regular-length torso, and tried the size XS which is the larger of my two JC sizes.

    1. I agree, it is not a slouchy sweatshirt. The description does call it a slim fitting piece. I took my regular S size in this one.

    2. I didn't care for this sweatshirt at all, I thought I was the only one.

  3. Can somebody explain the difference between: perfect-fit, vintage cotton, and the linen tees?
I get the impression from the website that the vintage cotton is a thinner blend, the perfect-fit is a thicker cotton rib and probably more fitted, and I'm not sure how the linen tees compare.
I'm trying to fit the perfect, not too sheer white teeshirt and there's too many options.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That sounds right. The linen tee and the vintage cotton tee are both going to be somewhat sheer in white. The perfect fit tee is thick enough that it shouldn't be sheer, but it fits close to the body and IMO isn't very cool in summer. The vintage cotton tee is the thinnest. The linen tee is thicker than I expected.

      Delete
    2. You are right about the vintage cotton vs. perfect fit. Also, the perfect fit tees are almost a little stretchy compared to the vintage cotton tees that are a slouchy, relaxed fit. The linen tees, imo, fit similarly to the vintage cotton tees, but the texture is a little more slubby and the material a little thinner. If you're looking for something that is not sheer, the perfect fit is your best bet.

      Delete
    3. I found the linen tee to be quite loose. I take an XS in the perfect fits, and I ordered an XS in the striped linen short sleeve t, and find it uncomfortably baggy.

      Delete
    4. I also think the linen tees are unpredictable in the wash. I machine wash mine and hang them to dry. This seems to make them stretch out a bit. I accidentally dried one in the dryer and it shrunk a lot,so I re-washed it and hung it dry and I think it's bigger now than it was originally. I'm sure I could make it smaller again using the dryer. The peony linen tee is the one that got baggy for me, but the v-neck linen tees have kept their shape pretty well.

I can machine wash and machine dry my vintage cotton tees and (long sleeve) perfect fit tees and they always come out the same. Beware the vintage tees in the wash, since most people report they get holes, but knock on wood I've been very lucky so far and haven't had that happen yet. The perfect fit tees are very sturdy and I would not expect trouble with those.

      Delete
    5. The perfect fit tees are the best if you are trying to avoid sheerness. I am wearing one right now, that is a light yellow, and you can't see through it at all. They are more fitted, size up if in doubt. They also last forever because they are a thicker, sturdier knit. Thankfully they haven't messed with the perfect fit tees over the years.

      Delete
    6. J.CrewJD, my long sleeve perfect fit tees get all baggy at the wrists. I think it's because I sized up, but I needed to size up for the chest area. I still like them but I wish they didn't do that bagging thing at the wrists, yuck. Did you (or anyone else) ever encounter this?

    8. cate, how annoying! I have noticed that but only in my factory ones, which I end up having to push up to my elbows halfway through the day. But they are thinner/cheaper. I normally stick with 3/4 or elbow sleeves in JC tees, because my arms are so long that the "long sleeves" aren't long enough anyway. But I am not surprised, I have to size up for the chestal region too and it does tend to cause problems elsewhere on the garment.

      Delete
    9. Mine are the retail version. I think it's happening because I push my sleeves up, then when I push them back down it looks all saggy and bad.

      Delete
    10. My retail perfect fit tees also sag around the wrist. Don't really reach for them, so I stopped buying. I hope I remember this when it's closet cleanout time and don't want to part with them all of a sudden.

      Delete
    11. They are so warm, though. I won't part with mine, but I hate how they look. I try to keep to wearing them only under a long-sleeved sweater so the bagging isn't as visible.

      Delete
    12. I'm late to the discussion but I've not had any problems with stretching or bagging at the wrists. I use the long-sleeve perfect Ts as PJ tops in the winter, so they get lots of wear and many trips thru the washer and dryer. No holes, no stretching, and only minimal fading after 2 years.

      Delete
    13. I have perfect-fit l/s tees in both of my sizes, XXS and XS. The XXS is only wearable for layering because the body is super tight, but the sleeves are perfect and don't bag. The XS is a bit more relaxed through the body, but the sleeves get too loose, especially if I push them up throughout the day.

      Delete
  4. Has anyone tried the denim vest in workwear wash? I'm mainly wondering about the fading on the front and back of the vest. In the product shot, it looks almost blotchy. Wondering if it is the same IRL.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I ordered the denim vest on this promo and received it yesterday. Denim is much nicer in person than shown on the website. It's a bit darker than pictured and not at all blotchy. Unfortunately, the vest they sent me is not the size I ordered. The outer packaging was marked correctly, but the vest itself had no paper hang tag and the size tag had been torn out at the collar. Based on actual measurements, I'd say the vest I received is at least two sizes smaller than what I ordered. In the correct size, this would have been a keeper for me.

      Delete
    2. I ordered mine in an XXS and it was HUGE. I got such a good deal with the promo that I'm just going to have it altered---otherwise, I would have ordered it in crewcuts!

      Delete
  5. Super late to the game on the cashmere "darling" sweater, but since the price finally got knocked way down with the promo, I gave it a try. It's really cute and fits TTS. I wouldn't have paid anywhere near retail though, that was crazytown. Review is here.

Also, I received the new baseball caps in emblem and navy colorblock and really love them! Super cute, nice fit (adjustable), well made.

  6. Has anyone ever purchased a regular length cafe capri and had it shortened to petite length? I'm normally a 0p, and REALLY want the dot in navy. There's a size 0 pair on ebay and I'm considering purchasing it and having it taken up. But I know that with certain cuts, hemming them shorter makes them look funny, esp capris. Any insight?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, I have. The petite capris are too tight on my athletic calves, so I have to buy regular cafe capris and hem them up.

I don't think they'll end up looking funny unless the rise is too long on you. The petite capris are not only shorter but are also proportionally smaller through the rise.

      Delete
    2. teaMstan,

I would recommend going into a J.Crew store and trying on a size 0 first. I think there is a one size difference between regular and petite sizes. I can wear either a 6P or 4 in the cafe capris.

    1. I always love your reviews!

I am obsessed with the Strawberry Thief top, and am going to keep it at full price. First time I've ever done that. I just don't want to risk not getting it later--I love it so much.

    2. Thanks! I think you are smart to keep it. I am debating the same as I think it is such a unique and versatile print (although I end up saying that about every Liberty print). Love the vibrancy of the colors!

  8. Can anyone comment on the fit of the Collection shoulder-lace blouse (01199)? I just ordered it in a size down from my normal size on the assumption that it probably fits like the Blythe (boxy, oversized).

    1. I was wondering about this one too. Does anyone know if it is sheer in either color? Thanks.

  9. TeaMstan - sorry cannot hit a reply.

I normally wear 0P at j.crew and the cafe capris in 0P looked hideous on me - knee hit at a weird place, ankle hit at a weird place, overall the whole thing was too baggy and just weird. Like "mom" pants in the 80s. Thight were way too boxy on me. Rise was weird. Just hideous.

I really liked the iced lilac color so I bought it in 00. It looked OK on me, but I ended up getting the legs slimmed. By the time I got them back, I was pregnant and couldn't tell whether the tailoring was successful.

Alterationsneeded did a good post on tailoring a cafe capri

  10. Great, my comment was eaten. Basically, I bought three bikinis, everything was size medium, and everything fits. I am a size 6/34D. I bought bikini and string bottoms, and string and bandeau tops. I could wear a large in the tops but then they would be too big around. The medium covers everything and looks good, I will just have to be careful.

Stripe rash guard in a medium is good everywhere except too big under the arms. I am keeping it because who cares, I am going to wear it in the water and no one but me will notice a little extra fabric! Better than being too tight.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I also tried the Factory midrise skinny jean, aka midrise toothpick. No. Just, no. Tried my normal 30 and they looked horrible. Flat early 90's mom butt central. They were just way too big in the back. So I sized down to a 29 (I have never worn a 29 in a toothpick even at my thinnest.)

I guess I just don't like mid rise, or perhaps these are higher than what I think is mid rise. Even though the pants fit perfectly, and looked ok as long as the top of the pants was covered so no one could see that they went nearly to my belly button, I felt and looked like a stuffed sausage. It was sad because the wash is perfection.

  14. Hi there----can anyone give me advice on sizing of the Nolita Denim Jacket?? TTS? Thanks!!:)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. LRA -- TTS on the nolita denim jacket. I tried M & S and preferred the fit of the S. I reviewed it in this post where I'm wearing it over a buttondown and the lace-front sweatshirt. That was too much bulk for me to wear at once, but that's how I knew the S was the best size.

      Delete
    2. Oh -- I also tried on the Nolita in S in this post. That time over a plain tee. It's the indigo wash in both reviews.

    3. Thanks, Gigi!!!! You rock!!!!! :)

      Delete
    4. I agree about sizing down in the Nolita. I bought an XS and I almost never buy an XS at J.Crew, always a small. I don't button it but I like the shrunken fitted look.

  15. Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has seen the crystal compilation necklace (color: crystal) that's on Sassy Steals today. The vendor is Statement Boutique. I feel like it's very difficult to tell what a jewelry item will look and feel like in person, so I really appreciate your opinion.

If you want to see irl pics of the JC version to compare, I reviewed it in this post. Links to 2 other bloggers as well.

  18. @A - sorry, I can't use the reply function while I'm at work...which dress are you referring to? I tried two sizes in the Gamine dress (I can size down sometimes with a flared skirt) and possibly could have gone with my smaller size except for that wretched seam. The picture on my review is a size 12. You might be able to size down, my hips don't often allow that :P

The placket dress I tried my usual size 12 and didn't attempt a smaller size based on the straighter skirt on the dress. HTH!

  19. This stuff is in final sale now but I just wanted to say that the Perfect Shirt in Linen was a total fail. There are so many holes developing at the seams, and flaws in the (see-through) fabric that even though it was $36 I wouldn't even want it for the beach.

In addition, it's so baggy that I wonder if they've changed the fit of the "perfect shirt." I've lost some weight this summer, but the amount of fabric in this shirt is ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agreed that the linen version runs larger than other variations of perfect shirts. I figured out the right size for me before final sale kicked in, and I've had no issues with holes or sheerness. I do wash them on the delicate cycle and line-dry, tho. At the current sale price - 40% off, I'd recommend if you're sure of your size and willing to give some extra TLC.

  20. I purchased several of the Silk Flutter tops, and love the look and feel of these. Armholes are cut just right (not too low) and I love them paired with white skinny jeans and cafe capris. They will be a great layering piece for fall.

Has anyone washed these successfully? They do say Dry Clean Only...

    1. dianespainting, I always wash my silk (either in mesh bag in hand wash cycle, or by hand) and though the initial wash changes the texture it can be steamed carefully and goes back to feeling soft. I think there was a thread on JCA at some point on washing silk. I've washed my Blythes with All free and clear and no holes yet. There is some shenanigan with the chemistry of soap and protein based fibers that I've read, which is why I use all rather than my regular (all natural) laundry soap.

Did you find this top TTS?

    2. Does the color of the silk fade?

    3. Thank you, Anthro Blogger. I will try hand washing.
I did find the flutter tops TTS, and took my usual JC size.

    4. I use a detergent for gentle fabrics in the delicate cycle of the front loading washer. That's how I have been washing all my silks. Then dry flat or on a hanger.

  21. The padded knot bandeau tank is a major love for me. The knot separates the girls and the ruching is super flattering. I have the ruched bandeau tank from last year, and maybe it's just that the older suit's fabric has relaxed, but the new suit seems thicker and holds me in better. Wish I'd bought it earlier in the season when there were more color options!

  22. Last week I have tried on the Tipped Gamine dress. I was disappointed. It had weird puffing of fabric in the lower back area, the seem across the skirt portion cuts the dress in unflattering way. The rest was just blah. Fits TTS, the length was quite decent on me, I 5'6 and it was just above the knee. Tried the peplum top as well, it runs big imo. Also the racerback silk tank, I sized down and it was nice but too expensive imo. Liked the fuschia. You need the strapless bra. I posted my reflections HERE. I also ordered and love the suiting tank, review HERE.

  23. Forgot to say that I also tried Valentina pumps in alf hair. Loved them but just don't need them and especially not at this price. Boden has similar pumps and slingbacks for much less and I find their shoes more comfortable and better made, always with leather lining etc.

  24. OT, but has anyone heard anything about a full-priced promotion or a cardholder promotion? I'm not buying any of the new arrivals without one. Based on how many things are deeply discounted right now, I should just wait for things to go on sale, but I don't want stuff will hit final sale before I had a chance to try it.

    1. I haven't heard a thing. I don't think I've ever seen two different promos running concurrently (like % off sale and % off FP or whole order)...anybody else remember? My guess is that there won't be anything until the 40% off ends (which they'll probably extend if they don't get rid of more stuff. Just a hunch).

  25. Tried on Everly pumps in 3 styles - studded, suede & metallic mirror (silver) in size 8. Runs half size small, I'm usually a 7.5 - and the studded ones are SO GORGEOUS and super comfy but sadly too expensive to purchase.

Got a pair of the regular suede ones in blue bird (they are NOT on sale in store, but since they are on sale online, the store will honor this price) these are not as comfy as the studded ones for some reason, even both they are both suede and will need to be broken in.

The metallic mirror ones were super uncomfortable (stiff & tight) and the SA confided that they take a really long time to break in.

    1. I agree, the metallic ones were the least comfortable of the Everlys that I tried.

    2. I have the metallic Everlys and I agree that they are definitely stiff. Thanks to a good suggestion from Gigi, I purchased some shoe stretch spray and that's definitely helped with the toe box. I love them so I really wanted to make them work!

  26. Madewell just sent an email titled BIG. NEWS. (REALLY). They've apparently released new jeans, which a customer service person had told me would happen this fall when I inquired about whether the Rail Straight jeans in dusty blue would ever be re-stocked. It looks like they've only released versions of their skinny jeans (Skinny Skinny, Skinny Ankle, High Riser), now with stretch. I love the stretch in their Rail Straight dusty blue jeans, but I don't need skinny jeans. It looks like so far there are no new non-skinny jeans.

    1. That's disappointing. I greatly prefer the Rail Straight. I really don't like the look of their Skinny, Skinny jeans on me.

  27. I visited 3 b&ms last week, sale sections were really picked over.

Andie chinos- I liked the slimmer fit (took the same size as in scout chinos) but found them really low rise in the back on me. Also they creased a lot behind the knee when standing.

Geometric eyelet blouse- I found it very see through because of all the cut outs and something about the sleeves length and width made me personally feel matronly in it. I was really hoping to love it. I didn't see the pewter so I tried the white and navy patterned one.

Painter boat neck tee in stripe- I sized up as I do in perfect shirts and liked it as a basic. I bought the wine coloured one. Note that it is currently priced cheaper online.

  28. Has anyone bought or tried on the Paley pant in pinstripe? I just purchased some cute Tory Burch purple pumps and was thinking of wearing them with the Heather grey colored pants. Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have the paley pant in pinstripe in both colors (navy and grey). I get the tall size and wish they were full length not ankle length. I really like the paley pants because they are slim (I don't like wide leg pants, full skirts, I like fitted clothes) and simple/minimalist. Sometimes I wish they had belt loops because I feel unfinished wearing them with a shirt tucked in. I usually wear them with shirts or shells or sweaters that don't need to be tucked in.

  34. Ladies, I have a question about the jeans:

For those of you who have purchased and worn the jeans with ~8% polyester, what did you think of them? How do they wear versus the old jeans with no polyester? My old J Crew jeans were about 97-98% cotton with 2-3% elastane. I just don't know what to make of the polyester jeans.

    1. I have a pair of the matchsticks from last season that are 6% poly and 1% spandex. The wash and fit on these swayed me more than it probably should have because you can definitely tell they've got poly in them. They're not soft like my 98 or 99% cotton jeans, slightly stiff. They don't breathe the same way cotton jeans do. I lived with it because of the other two factors but next time I'll spend more time trying to find ones that are closer to all cotton. HTH.

I have a pair of Madewell Rail Straight jeans that contained polyester. I didn't know it when I bought them, and I couldn't tell a difference other than they had a nice bit of stretch/give to them. They held up well, and they're just a tad bit thinner and softer than some of the denim I've bought from JCrew, which isn't necessarily due to the poly content. (I'm guessing poly is the cheaper way to
go, in place of elastene or spandex?)

  37. Was in both local B&M's on the weekend. Lots of new stuff out. Tried on a few things that I've wishlisted:

Jeweled short sleeve sweatshirt in heather shadow ivory. Love the concept but not sure where I'd wear it IRL. Took my usual sweatshirt size, S. Will have to size up to M to layer over shirt like in online pic. The knit and stones read very blue. Very pretty, much more eyecatching than the athletic grey ivory colourway. Now I need to find a lifestyle so I can wear this thing.

Lace-front sweatshirt in navy navy. Also took my usual sweatshirt size S. Love the lace detail. The navy on navy make it very subtle, my preference over the heather natural colourway. Previous poster had commented on how stiff the fabric feels. This is done in the same fabric that last year's port of call sweatshirt was in, which softened up a lot over numerous washings.

The new schoolboy in flannel in heather graphite (the only other colour stocked at my store is heather caramel). The 2 colours seem the same as last year's classic schoolboys. The fabric seems a bit rougher though. I am one of the few people who was looking forward to trying this on, since the old schoolboy was too shortwaisted on me (I'm 5'3" but have a regular torso and short arms/legs). The new schoolboy is longer (which I like) in the bodice, and of course sleeves are too long. I think the petite size would work great on me. For reference, I own the Hacking in petite size, the it's quite a bit longer than the new schoolboy. When there's a FP promo, I'm planning on ordering it in petite to confirm my size. Sadly, as others have noted, the lining in the sleeves are not striped. Why oh why JC would you skimp out on this feature?!

Hope to head back in a couple weeks (must pace myself y'know?) to try on some more new stuff.

  38. Since the 40 off sale is still going on, just wanted to comment on how much I love the Featherweight Cashmere cardigans. I love these. They fit on the small size. I had to order one size up. I think they are perfect w/dresses and skirts b/c they are a close, not boxy fit. It's hard to find a nice fitted cardi to go w/dresses and I always like having a cardi when I wear a dress. They're super lightweight and I think they would work year round. So easy to toss in a bag and take w/you. At the sale price + 40, I think they're a great deal. These and the Featherweight Cotton cardis are 2 things I think JC does better than most. Highly recommend

  39. has anyone tried on the silk georgette skirt yet? i'm particular interested in the length and fit for petites sizes 00 or 0.

  40. Another plug for the darby loafers. I have a neon pink leather from a few months back and was amazed at how totally comfortable they are. Literally like slippers. I picked up the darby bead stitch loafers at the current price ($100 less 40%) -- I don't know why they weren't selling, but there was a full range until a day or so ago. Finally, at $60, they are running out of sizes. Thank you to AudreyBella, who noted a few posts back, that these don't have actual beading, they are stitches that look like beads. This was a plus for me b/c the reason I didn't buy these earlier was because I am very wary of beading -- all it takes is a couple of beads to fall off before the whole thing becomes a mess. Darling shoes, so comfortable, at a fantastic price. This one runs TTS, not a bit small.

    1. I tried the suede Darbys that just came out in 7.5 (I'm between 7.5 and 8, most often a 7.5). They were huge. I'm never a 7 (at least not since having kids!), but would have to try them to see if they'd work.

    2. I am a big fan of the Darby loafers too. I love the bead stitch loafers, so cute with denim. I want to buy them in black and there is a new tan color I'd like to see too. They are TTS for me.

  42. I got some seersucker pants that are "dry clean only" - does anyone own dry clean only pants from J. Crew and tried to wash them? I can send them to the cleaners, but I wanted to check and see if anyone has had any luck washing these types of pants.

    1. I have several seersuckers and always wash them (but also hang or dry flat) -- totally fine.

  43. Ordered the Skinny printed calf hair belt
item 05293 $68.00. Returning it. First, the chat people had the dimensions wrong- even for a low rise belt, 45" overall length in the large is too big. Not exchanging it for a medium because the buckle is a huge problem- in real life it is very cheap looking and it constricts the leather when you tighten it, so its hard to get on and might damage the leather on the edges. Also, the other end attachment is stapled cheaply and not riveted.
    Big miss.

  44. I have the seersucker ones form earlier in the spring ( not the ones w/ the neon stripe). I have washed them several times- on gentle cycle and I hang them dry. They are fine. HTH

  45. I picked up the Western Shirt when they were in between promos so I got it for about $35, it's a great shirt, runs true to size although it might run a little large if you "have a lot of room in the chest area" so to speak. Such a great piece for fall, easy to pair with skirts and boots.

Also got the Collection Shantung Shirtdress, I picked mine up for $13 at a sample sale (woohoo) but really like this dress and would have paid more. It runs true to size, I got the Citrus color and it's gorgeous. Such a unique take on a cocktail dress. The color lends itself to pairing with colorful shoes and jewelry.

  47. Boy shirt in classic white: I recently purchased this with 40% off and returned it yesterday...such a big disappointment. Since it is a 'boy shirt', I was expecting it to be on the larger, less fitted side, so I ordered my usual boy shirt size of 00. The shirt fit me like the perfect shirts do, and did not seem like it had a boy cut at all. Plus it was on the shorter side, and most boy shirts I own are longer in length. I suppose I could try sizing up a couple of sizes to achieve the roomier look I was hoping for, but it just reminds me too much of the white perfect shirt, which I already own a few of.

  49. Does anyone have the Auden Emerson bib necklace (the yellow and red one)?

One popped back today, and I finally went ahead and snagged it at the reduced price minus 40%. The minute I saw that necklace when it first came out I said "Oh, that is SOOOO me!", but the original price, ouch.

Anyway, I'm curious if any of you already had it and how you wear it!

  50. COLLECTION SCHOOLBOY BLAZER IN TIPPED LINEN, one word. ADORE. I got it with the 40% off promo so it came down to about $125. It's gorgeous and probably my favorite schoolboy blazer. If you can find it, definitely get it. Fits TTS.

  54. Can anyone comment on the Blythe Blouse in Silk? Does it fit true to size?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I found my usual size to be tight across the shoulders and to fit nicely everywhere else, loose but not overly so. When I tried sizing up, the shoulder fit better but I didn't like how loose the rest of the blouse fit. HTH

    2. I wear a 4 in both the Silk Blythe and boy shirts but need a 6 in the more fitted perfect shirt. HTH.

  55. Silk Henley Top in warm jade. It's a pretty color and nice silk. It is plenty long and could be worn tucked in or left out. I am not sure if I like the fit on me, though. To accommodate my chest, I went up to a size 10 but then the armholes gape a bit. I'm either going to return it or try it in a size 8.

  56. Well this isn't a review, but I just got a really nice surprise in placing an online order - J.Crew automatically waived the duty (for Canadian customers) at checkout, which, on my order was $170!!! How nice (and rare!!) is that?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sorry but I don't get the waived duty part when the Canadian prices (in US dollars) are higher to start! They are doing us a favour by not adding an additional 20% to the already 20% higher price?

      Delete
    2. Yeah, I think it's just a change in the checkout process, without any real alteration in the final cost. I hope they're not thinking they can eventually slip it in on top, since the 'canadian' price already includes duties!
And while we're on the topic, they should at least be charging us in Canadian dollars at this point...

  57. Factory version of the Excursion Vest ... despite the annoying hide-and-seek pricing game because they didn't want to sell them for 40% off this week, love. Nice rendition of retail. The fit is TTS but slightly generous, which will probably be a good thing over winter tops. I love that this style has the warmth of quilted down but is thin and light - no bulky Michelin Man look. I ordered navy, but if I can snag a green one on promo, I will.

    1. Ruffles, thanks for the review. I asked about the vest since it is the photo shown online for outerwear. This is what I was told by chat.
Lewis J: That would be our Factory Quilted Puffer Vest.
Lewis J: The item number is 92465 and currently priced at $58.50.
Lewis J: The color shown is Boulevard Green.
Lewis J: The expected ship date is 10/10/2013.
You: How do I order it? I tried to search for that item number and search produced no results.
Lewis J: This item has not been launched to purchase yet.
Lewis J: It should launch on the date given.

I guess I will keep looking for it online.

    2. Thanks Ruffles, good to know it's nice. How annoying that they pulled them. I happened to have one in my cart, and they still were showing up there, but you couldn't search for it to find it. I would think a good VPS could help with honoring it, but who knows.

  58. Another vote in favor of the new Andi Chinos. Damn. I didn't want to like them, as I don't really need more casual pants. But I like them a LOT. I wish JCrew made more formal pants with a similar fit.

Another vote against yet another crop of cafe capris. They don't work with my body, no matter what size I take. If they fit my waist and hips, they are weirdly baggy in the thighs. And I thought we left weird balloon mom pants behind in 1994.

    1. Can someone comment on the sizing on the Andi Chinos? I am a 4 in cafe capris but needed to size up to a 6 in the cargo scout chinos.

    2. ShopLV, My regular size seemed okay but I preferred the size up overall. I don't know if they would stretch out with wear, that's my concern with sizing up. I didn't buy them yet so I don't know what will happen. I liked the wide, flat waistband. Not as much stretch as I expected.

      Delete
    3. Can you tell me what the rise is like on the Andi's? I have to say they're cute and look like they'd be more flattering than the Cafe Capris.

      Delete
    4. @jruby18- others can chime in but I found the rise to be quite low in back especially when sitting. I really liked them otherwise but I was turned off by the rise.

I took the same size as in scout chinos, sizing down was too tight in the waist, sizing up would be too baggy.

  59. I just got my box from the prior promo b4 final sale.
v neck linen tee- got this one in navy and it fit less boxier than the peony. keeper!

Marina mini-wedge espadrilles in chambray- cute and versatile but wish then were higher

Three-quarter sleeve stretch perfect shirt - I like the material and this basic will be great for the fall at work

Vintage tee neon violet - Love the color, wish the tee was thicker

Capri tuxedo stripe navy - The legs fit more narrow than regular cafe capris but in a good way.

    1. Do the Marinas rub at all? They look cute, but seem like they'd be stiff and rub uncomfortably? Thanks!

      Delete
    2. I have not worn the marinas yet, just tried them on in the house. They did not rub or appear stiff. The bottom of the shoe is leather (suede like) not shiny slippery.

I ordered quite a bit with the gratification sale to try on. I ended up liking more thing than I expected although mostly basics.

  60. Can anyone comment or review the cafe capri in organza. Did ou take your regular cafe capri size? How is the material?

    1. Beaded chambray is pretty much as it looks online. It's a soft, light blue chambray with beading, on the front only I think. I haven't washed it yet so can't comment on how it does in the wash.

  65. Has anyone tried the silk ruffle top? I'm tempted to buy it in cream but can't tell if the fit is right.

I LOVE my Drapey Elbow Sleeve tee---wish they had it in navy. I'm going to order in white and a few other colors. My black tee was a little low for work, but with a black cami underneath, similar colored cami, it should be fine! I purchased in XXS. The fit is TTS and is a tight fit. Love the fit of the sleeves and the neckline is great...just not for work! :)Not sheer----perfect!
