This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
I'm hoping to snag one of the double serge pencil skirts this weekend, but haven't purchased one in a long time. Can anyone tell me if they run true to the size chart? For reference, I wear 27 matchsticks and wondering if I should get the skirt in 2 or 4. TIA ladies!!
ReplyDeletekoala2, I am guessing most likely 2, but I would e-mail customer service and ask for exact measurements.
DeleteI agree, you should be safe and call for measurements. I take a 27 in matchsticks, but take a 4 consistently in JC pencil skirts. I think it depends where you carry your weight -- I'm a bit wider through the waist but have a flat stomach.
DeleteThanks! I did just that and got a 2. I read elsewhere here that they tend to stretch so hopefully these will be a keeper. Thanks so much ladies!
DeleteGoing in for returns and it will be fun to see some of the new arrivials. So far, nothing I have to have.
ReplyDeleteI probably won't be visiting, but I am looking forward to read what others see.
ReplyDeletewow it's the weekend already? No complaints though. No plans to venture beyond the backyard this weekend but I'll be checking the sale section. Quite a few things I'd love to catch on popback.
ReplyDeleteOT but the website is all messed up... a bunch of items appearing on sale but when you click on the item, it is either showing full price or at a higher sale price. Hmf.
ReplyDeleteSlightly off topic, maybe? But looking for some sizing advice...
ReplyDeleteGot the sperry's for my birthday (great as a gift because I love them so, but probably never would have purchased on my own) and my heel slips a bit when I walk in them. They were the last in my size of the navy in store, and apparently North Park is the only Dallas store that has the Sperry's.
So my question is, will they stretch out a bit? If yes I will defintely need to return + order online a size down. If not, I am ok with the current size, they are fine for a nice slip on. I am fairly certain they will stretch with wear since they are canvas, but wanted to see if anyone had experience :)
Outside of the sizing issue I really do love these... wish I could have every color (I am boring though and wanted the basic navy).
I find that my Sperrys (I don't own J.Crew ones, but I assume they are the same fit!) run very TTS and do indeed loosen a little for a more comfortable, broken-in fit. I have heard, though, that any of the canvas Sperrys (like the Bluefish style) are more uncomfortable than regular leather Sperrys and rub quite a bit, so it's possible that that's just how yours might be.
DeleteCould you order a size down online and then return the one that doesn't fit as well?
P.S. None of the other stores in the Dallas area have the Sperrys? Not even Southlake? Or if you're going to Fort Worth soon...there's a J.Crew there now, too, right? I heard (from my mom) that the one in Stonebriar in Frisco closed.
DeleteSamantha - I have a few more pairs of Sperrys than I'd really like to admit owning, and I usually size down only in the leather ones, not the canvas. The canvas are stiffer and don't stretch nearly as much as the leather, so I would say stick to your usual size in the canvas.
DeleteOT: I am THISCLOSE to buying a pair of shoes from Madewell, but they're doing the same dang final sale thing for the first markdown. I've never bought anything from Madewell and have definitely not tried on any of their shoes. Any advice on sizing? Have any of you had luck with getting their CS to allow for returns on final sale? I'm so conflicted!
ReplyDeleteIn case you're looking at those polka dot pumps... I was so tempted by those... they are adorable and all leather. Love! They actually had the plain ones at the clearance store, so I tried them, and they run slightly small like J.Crew heels. I need an 11 in them but I rarely need an 11 in other brands... I hope that helps. I'm thinking your normal J.Crew closed toe heel size would be safe. And since most of their shoes are all leather, they can be stretched, if necessary.
DeleteHa, how did you know which ones I was looking at?! Yep, I've gotten so far as the checkout a few times but haven't hit submit because of the stupid final sale policy. It makes no sense with j.crew but DEFINITELY doesn't make sense with Madewell since they don't have many b&m stores and are fairly new.
DeleteLOL, I share your love of polka dots and I thought of you as soon as I saw they were on sale this morning. I have them in my cart, too, but... I agree, the final sale is absurd. The closest b&m to me is about 400 miles! Grrr.
DeleteAnd thanks for the sizing info. That definitely helps!
DeletePumps can run TTS to small. The skimmers run half a size large for me at Madewell. HTH
DeleteAppgal, I was able to chat with cs and they added a note to my order that I could return if needed since there's not a store in my state currently. However, I asked while I was on there and there's one opening in Denver this summer, and right around my bday too! Yay! I haven't tried their heels but their boots have been tts. I got away with 1/2 size down in The skimmers but prob would've needed less breaking in in my true size. HTH!
DeleteI got them to do the same thing! Actually, the first CS agent I chatted with wouldn't help me; I tried again and got a good one who put a note in my order. I am SO EXCITED to get these shoes! I tried the Nine West polka dot pumps but the fabric material just felt too cheap to me. Glad these are all leather!
DeleteI've also had CS make a note to allow returns on FS purchases at Madewell. They've been good about it each time but I've never actually returned the items because they are worked out great.
DeleteI am really happy with Madewell shoes I've purchased and for the Handbook and Perfect Penny-Loafer pumps I went up 1/2 size as advised by CS and it was the right decision. Good Luck AppGal!
PSA: Canvas Tillary on sale for 159.99 and not showing up as Final Sale.
ReplyDeleteOT: FYI the canvas Tilary tote is showing up online in the sale section for $159.99, both the red/navy and the flax. It's kinda strange you click on the item and it brings you to the handbag section, but you can then click on it and order it. I went for it, with no shipping charge thought it would be worth the try and I can return it!! So many JCAs love that bag that I thought it would be to see IRL of it. Wondering if anyone else noticed this
ReplyDeleteYou're not alone...same thing happened to me except after the Tillary handbag page the Ballet Boutique page is displayed. I can only get to the Tillary by going through the Bags link.
DeleteJustVisiting were you able to order the tote? I am waitlisted for the flax color. Strange why they would mark it down and then waitlist it?? Glad to see I was not alone.
DeleteI scored the Fanfare jacket for $39.99.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the jewelry that's on sale on the website (I think they added a bunch of new pieces) is also on sale at their local J.Crew store?
ReplyDeleteMost of the jewelry that's on sale online is also on sale in the b&m. It's not always marked, so ask for it to be scanned if you have a question.

ReplyDeleteNot me, I don't usually go in and check out the new arrivals because I loathe driving to and parking at the mall, LOL. I look forward to everyone's news next week, though!
ReplyDeleteI have to say I'm kinda bummed that I have to put away my double-serge wool skirts and brand-new Tippis for next fall already. Never even got a chance to wear half of them! This weather is so crazy. I'm all for no snow/ice but I would have loved at least a few cool days.
I'll be packing away most of my cold-weather clothing this weekend and culling through spring/summer items, so maybe I will have a big bunch o'stuff on Monday's exchange. JCA's in sizes Med & 8-10, take note!
Have a great weekend, y'all.
Sorry to be OT but has anyone washed their Ultra Eyelet No. 2 pencil skirt in the washing machine with success? I have the Chili one and am worried about trying it in the washing machine since it says Dry Clean on the tag (even though it is cotton). I don't want to hurt the material.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
If anyone is interested in the Talitha Popover in Feather paisley, it's 69.99 in retail stores. I hope this helps someone!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the tip! I ordered one right away after I saw your post. Does anyone here know how the Talitha fits? I wear a 2 in the Blythe blouse and in button-downs but a 0 in the boy shirt in stripe crepe de chine. The SA recommended a size 2 for me, but I wasn't certain.
DeleteOT Just posted a review of the Long no 2 pencil skirt in Sovereign Paisley. Enjoy!

Does anyone know if the new arrivals from Thursday are in stores yet? The closest b&m is a bit of a drive for me, but I was hoping to check out the Painted Rope Skirt in person tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteJust got back from my local b&m, no new arrivals yet.
DeleteIn other news, I was so close to pulling the trigger on the ultra eyelet pencil skirt in chili, but I hate buying full price, and the only one in my size looked like a return. Living near 5 different J Crews comes in handy sometimes!
I went to my local b&m today and found some slightly wider striped seersucker Cafe Capri's. Very cute and very summer. There were only a few left and luckily one still in my size so I snatched one up! Retailing for $98. Style # 77757 if anyone is interested! I've been wanting seersucker capris for so long!
ReplyDeleteajr, I live in Colorado too. Do you know when and where the Madewell store is opening? That's such great news!
ReplyDeleteIt is, isn't it? It'll be at Park Meadows, and it's supposed to open in August. I'm going to have to change which mall I go to. I've been going to Cherry Creek, but I've heard great things about the PM JC, and they have an Anthro, and if they get a Madewell too, it'll be no question!
DeleteThanks so much for the info! I agree - I'll need to change to start going to PM more often.
DeleteThanks ajr for the information on Madewell coming to Park Meadows. Yes, both ajr and lizzi43, you will have to come and see the JC there now, trust me it is worth it. I had another experience at JC - Cherry Creek, asked if they had the Paintbox cardigan and got a deer in headlights look and a never heard of it, reply.
DeleteJosanne, you were the one I was referring to in that post. :) Yeah, I think it's time for me to switch stores. PM really isn't any further for me. The cherry creek cs has been less than great, so looking forward to PM! Thanks for the rec!
DeleteLinks to irl pics + new cuts at the top of this post. I've also noted in-store price info that I've read here or saw myself. I.e. the fresco capris are $199.99, in-store.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees any markdowns on.neon or bright colored gingham shirts will you please let me know, thanks!
ReplyDeleteSydneyroark09@yahoo.com
what do you think are the chances of a percentage off sale promo next week? i'd like to snag the canvas tillary but i am nervous there will be a sale and i would not be able to get a price adjustment.
ReplyDeleteI went to my B&M and it had a decent size sale section -- some skirts, mostly tees. I ordered an alabaster Blythe over the phone (full price, eek!) and bought a fanfare popover ($49 + student discount) and a couple bamboo bangles.
ReplyDeleteOT - got my "style guide" (i.e. April catalog) in the mail today. It's making me love the chambray top. I laughed out loud when I got to p. 67 though, where the model is wearing the two-tone straw hat I just returned. I returned it because the brim flopped down in the front completely covering my eyes. I thought I got a defective one but in the photo, the model is holding the brim up with her hand!
ReplyDeleteFor those in Massachusetts: the Natick Mall J Crew has a number of shoe styles on sale. I got the Drea Patent Peep-Toe pumps in neon peach for $79.99 (they are still full-price online). They also had the Drea in black, the Mona Suede in Wild Berry (sadly not my size), the Lila Patent Platform Wedges in all colors (I think they were marked down to $99.99), Viv Printed Patent Flats, and some Valentina Pumps --just about all were marked down at least 50%.
ReplyDeleteKing of Prussia has a good selection of sale shoes-light walnut in Viv flats and Valentina D'orsay, Drea peep-toe in peach and black patent. One Fanfare jacket (00) at 39.99. There are lots of sale pencil skirts too.
ReplyDeleteNo visit for me this weekend. Happy shopping for those who do!
ReplyDeleteOT: wonder if there will be Mickey cards this spring?
Was just at my store. Can't believe the Fanfare jacket is down to $40! I think it's well worth that price. The peach frayed jacket was down to $99 I think, as was the yellow Trudy jacket. The Lillian dress was $89 and I was so tempted, but don't need it.
ReplyDeleteIn-store price notes in this post w/some irl pics.
ReplyDeleteOrlando B&M has a great sale section. All neat and tidy in the back w lots of new mark downs :o). terrific!
