This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
I did go to get the crinkle chiffon dress on sale and ended up trying more. Some reviews at the bottom of THIS_POST , including Elinor dress.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping to go this Sunday.
ReplyDeletePlanning on going today!!Looking for foulard capris
ReplyDeletesub :)
ReplyDeleteCan anyone report whether the 30% off sale is also good in stores? And is the fanfare popover on sale in stores?
ReplyDeleteNo 30% in my store (although they always match for me, when asked) and the fanfare popover was on sale. I tried it on and I will have a review soon. I liked it a lot and it fits TTS with an oversized fit.
DeleteThe fanfare popover is on sale for 49.99. I normally wear a 2-4 in perfect shirts, depending on cut. I took a small in the popover. I could have gone with the xs, but felt if it shrank, I would be in trouble in the hip area (I'm pear shaped). There was no 30% off, but if you ask, they will honor it as long as you agree to it being final sale. I LOVE this top! Hope this helps.
DeleteOT sorry but how do this years bathing suits run? I am particularly interested in the 2 pieces Heart Throb and the regular string hipster and top.
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought a jcrew swimsuit in years.
Thank you!
I found the bottoms to run true to size, I wear a medium in their bottoms including swim. For the bikini tops I was able to size down a band size (from my usual 34 to a 32).
DeleteThank you Roxy!
DeletePlanning to go tomorrow. Need to use my rewards card!
ReplyDeleteI'll be going today, because I received an e-mail from a local J.Crew (Tysons Galleria, if anyone's in the area) about a "reward card shopping event." There is no time listed, or any description. Has anyone ever been to one of these?
ReplyDeleteTrying to decide if I want to fight the traffic to get to Lenox Square in ATL this weekend since I want to check out the Spring goods for Madewell and Anthro as well as J.Crew. That parking lot on the weekends is a *nightmare*. Will report back if I do.
ReplyDeleteOT: I ordered the black Fabiola dress to try on since it looked so great on some of the other JCA's. I really liked the dress, but I have no idea what I would do with the thing since the v-neckline is cut too low for my office. It would be great for a Spring/Summer dinner event, but I hate letting things just languish in my closet until an event materializes (unless the dress is super super special and I couldn't pass it up). Sent it back.
OT: Garance Doré is wearing the J.Crew Café capri in leopard jacquard at the beginning of her Pardon My French: Welcome to Paris! video on her blog this morning.
ReplyDeleteI'll be in NYC this weekend so it's a good chance to do some sizing research for future reference, but to be honest, I'm a little bored with J. Crew these days.
ReplyDeleteI just posted a review of the Merriweather jacket on my blog megancrewreviews.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Way not happy at the moment - as I was paying for my item on-line, it was all of a sudden sold out. I was not a slow-poke with my ordering - it was perhaps 3 minutes from when I put it in my shopping cart to the last step in the ordering process.
ReplyDeleteNot a good shopping experience JC.
I bought a pair of coral Valentina pumps for $111 - and am really looking forward to them. Thanks to JCAs for their reviews on those shoes......I've read several of your blogs and loved the photos of the shoes on your feet. They look great! Can't wait to get my first pair!
ReplyDeleteOK, check out my review of Frances dress HERE if you need a good laugh. Make sure you are not drinking coffee while reading.
ReplyDeleteI just got the circle eyelet dress in the mail. It's very pretty but not worth $228 IMO b/c it's a well made but casual cotton dress. I was really disappointed with the color, it's not a vibrant cobalt blue like the photograph, more likely a bright navy. The fit is TTS, nips in at the waist, flared but not poofy. I took my usual size 4, and the length came just up to my knees, I'm 5'5". Close to perfect but overpriced for sure.
ReplyDeleteIf you like the silhouette and fit of that dress, head over to BR and try out the new Mad Men dresses - very similar and half the price.
DeleteOT- Madewell has 50% off select footwear.
ReplyDeleteSorry to be off topic, but I was hoping to ask you guys if you have gotten your wait-listed orders cancelled before? I ordered the Tillary Tote, which was supposed to ship in May, but that was cancelled yesterday. Previously, I ordered a pair of jeans, and a bag, which I was wait-listed for, and they were all cancelled! Do you guys have any issues with cancellations? Thanks for your time!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen. I've had a wait-listed order canx before. I don't recall what it was for or what exactly happened. Sorry to be so vague. I faintly recall orders being canx for some ppl when a global promo was applied to them. So, if they ordered a wait-listed item and had 20% or 30% applied, that order was canx. Again, very faint memory. I don't know what's going on w/J Crew's stock. Believe it or not, but you may be able to re-order again. I would try that. I think that's what I ended up doing in my case & it shipped.
DeleteOT, but does anyone know if the gap stores are doing a promo?
ReplyDelete15% off today online only -- it's on their website. I would hold off for a better sale. They seem to come often enough.
Deletenext weekend (8-11) is the friends and family 40%
DeleteThe University Village store in Seattle had the open stitch cardigan on sale for $65. Retail only has navy and mint. The navy is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhitney, how tall are you and where did the Fabiola dress hit you? And what do you mean by low-cut? Indecent? Would a camisole solve the problem?
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, my Tillary tote was also cancelled. It has been hit and miss once an item is waitlisted. If it is a popular item I am not surprised when it is cancelled.
ReplyDelete@annabello: I'm 5'8", and J.Crew's waistlines have been hitting me in a funky place for a while now - sort of above the lower ribcage area, but not an empire waist. The Fabiola hit above my natural waist but not as high up on my ribcage. Very similar to the way it fit ajc in the images on her blog review. The neckline of the dress is too low for a conservative office, imo, but I'm very busty and lots of otherwise normal tops can look "indecent" on me anyway. A camisol would solve the problem, but I live in GA and the last thing I want in the summer is another layer.
ReplyDeleteThis is somewhat OT, but has anyone with a basketweave tweed skirt had it snag? Mine snagged in four or five separate places the first time I wore it. I might try to return it, but I'm not sure that qualifies under J. Crew's return policy as a "defective item"--any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteAjc, the dress doesn't look that bad on you! It's just a little too "sister wife-y" for my taste, though, lol!
ReplyDeleteAgree w/Jruby18, that dress would do me no favors at all. Money saved!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of money saved ... people, do not buy the burnout crepe sweater unless you can see it IRL first. :( It isn't much like the online photo, IMO. The photo doesn't show the considerably nubby texture or the loose weave of the fabric. And whereas online the pattern looked groovy and burnout-y, IRL it looks more stripey. I wasn't looking for stripes with this top.
Also, the wrists and bottom have ribbed trim that's already quite stretched out and this is the first and only time I've worn it!
I have had 2 people say they liked it, though, and it will look pretty for spring/summer wear with white, khaki and/or denim. (I got the bright flame color.)
I bought it for $49 on eBay but would have been happier at maybe a $30 price point considering how it's all stretching out and stuff. :(
I have this sweater and love it!! It looked just like the photo and the bright flame color is gorgeous! It isn't stripe-y at all! I would like to get other colors as well. Sorry - can't agree with you at all!
DeleteNot sure if this is the place to ask but...has anyone tried the viv stripe ballet flats (the ones with the pointy toe)? The regular ones with the rounded toe are very comfy but I really prefer the look of the pointy toe but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $60 and possible extra pain! - (ridiculous since it's the same shoe material-wise)
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a review of the perennial peacoat? I'd like to pick up the 00, but wanted to see if anyone posted a review of sizing or warmth. I'm looking at moving up to Chicago or South Bend for grad school, and need another coat. Would this be warm enough? How does it fit? Does anyone have pictures of it on? Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I got a jardin skirt during the last sale and love it. It fits TTS and is the perfect length. I'm 5'4" and the 00 hits right below my knees. It's a great skirt if anyone is looking at getting it during this sale.
jmpb: rynetta PhD has a post with the flats here. There is discussion of the sizing in the comments. You could also leave one for her if you have any other questions about them. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous Florida Mommy: Thanks SO much for linking to my review!!!
ReplyDeletejmpb: Fabulous Florida Mommy is absolutely right (as always!) I'd be happy to answer any questions about the shoes! I haven't tried the pointy toe version of the Stripe Ballet flats; however, I do have reviews of the Viv Bow Flats and the Viv Patent Flats, both of which have the pointy toe, on my blog as well. HTH
Thanks again. I really appreciate this amazing community!!!
I went today, no extra 30%. Fanfare jacket was 99.99. I am going to be passing by a Factory Store tomorrow and am going to check it out based on all the positive reviews lately.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, I need some help picking the right size for the jackie pullover. I usually wear a size 2 in Jcrew tops and shirts and xs in bulkier sweaters, but the tippi xs was too tight in the arms. Any advice would be appreciated. I already looked at some reviews but none went into sizing issues in depth. I don't live near a store unfortunately so I have to order online.
ReplyDeleteI received a box of goodies today!
ReplyDeleteFor anyone that has the calf hair wide belt, is your calf hair in two pieces? Does it have a seam in the back?
Loved the factory madras popover super cute, xsmall fit as expected
Spindrift sweatshirt, love and the x-small fits great
Tulle draped bandeau tank ordered size 6 way to big, did not like when I took out of the bag but looked much better once on, the warm jade is a beautiful color.
Tulle underwire top super cute and sexy but the 32c was a little large so I think I will try a 32b/ the retro hipster bottoms are super cute but I ordered to large of a size and will have to try the xs.
Hot dot underwire halter top, Love this but will have to try smaller size as well. I did not like the hot dot brief so i will try another bottom with it instead.
Whisper gauze siesta dress, love this cover-up I think i am keeping even though it was full price
I tried the x-small and it was not to tight in the arms for me and I have average size arms, although the small may have been a bit more comfortable. I did not keep though as I did not like the fabric on my skin. I almost always wear size 0 or x-small
DeleteSorry I was replying to the Jackie pullover and it went to the wrong spot
DeleteThank you! I think I'll try the small.
DeleteI have the skinny version of that belt and it has a seam in the back but not so noticeable. I guess it'd be more easily seen on a wider belt? I don't like the idea of it but I really wanted a pretty leopard print belt with gold tone hardware.
DeleteThank you D*ska, it is pretty noticeable, I may order another to see if it is as bad. But I will keep because I love it otherwise
Deletesimplydreaming: I have the wide calf hair belt from last year and it has a seam in the back. The one on mine isn't that noticeable though. Perhaps trying a different one to see if the seam is less noticeable would be worth a shot.
DeleteBtw, do you have an online PS? Perhaps they could help in locating one for you without a seam or at least a seam that isn't very noticeable.
DeleteThanks FFM I ordered another and hopefully it will be better. I do not have an online PS, haven't had much luck with them so far
DeleteFYI, if you've been waiting for a 20% incentive to sign up for a J Crew card, it is currently in effect. You get 20% off your first open when you open the card. I'm not sure if they're still doing the 20% off your first in-store order & 20% off your first online order.
ReplyDeleteRewards are nice, even if there is no opportunity to double and the fact that they expire within a short time frame. Just remember that if you paying interest with that crazy 20-24%, there goes the savings you think you're getting during 30% off promos.
Does anyone have thoughts on this season's icon trench? I am thinking of using my rewards card towards it, and I want to try it on in stores first, but wanted to know what others thought! Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you ask this next week I'm going to be able to say
ReplyDelete" Yes, I'm hitting up three J Crew shops!"
Is it normal to be this excited about being in a J Crew changing room?
Ooooh, travels? I'm jealous! We have put all travel on hold for the stupid reason that we recently got our third kitty and no one in their right mind would want to housesit for three cats and I cannot bear to put them into a kitty hotel, no matter how nice.
DeleteWhere to?
Perfectly normal, T. Just don't tell any non-JCAs. They won't understand. :)
DeletePossible Factory visit. Anyone see a %off promo for this weekend in stores?
ReplyDeleteI will be returning terry sweats: shorts, pants and the mini skirt. They were all too big, and our store doesn't have them so I will re-order. I originally ordered the same size that I have in the Saturday Pant, but I guess these run bigger.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I saw there is another "cate"... I'm trying to find a way to change my name but haven't figured it out yet!
Some items have been reduced further in-store. Notes are in this post.
ReplyDeleteWent to a store to return the jackie pullover. I ordered my usual size small and it was very tight. I found the fabric too stretchy and did not bother to reorder in a bigger size.
ReplyDeleteWent home with the spindrift in navy. I had to size down to an extra small. I could see myself wearing this to death this spring/summer. The green color is darker and brighter IRL than shown online.
I am a fan of Jcrew's baseball shirts even if I do find them a tad overpriced. I was very happy to find the baseball shirt with the red sleeves as shown in ajc's spring new arrivals post. I do not understand why they changed the fabric to a stretchy linen. It was very itchy and very sheer. I can see these languishing in the sale section in a few months.
Marie, I have a thing for baseball tees too. I picked this Madewell baseball tee up in both the marled black and marled red:

It fits like JC and it's very cute and comfortable.
O/T: the new city mini in linen, in all four colors, all of six days old, is gone from the website today, and JC cs says it is sold out. The product page isn't available at all so I'm wondering if their prepping for another online promo on full price items...but why hide this item?
ReplyDeleteJust received the Factory Icon Trench and like other commenters, it is STUNNING. Seriously, such a good deal and such good quality. The collar is pleated and it has better button details than the Retail Trench IMO. They even shipped it on a professional coat hanger with tissue wrapped hanger ends to ensure the sleeves maintained their shape. Very impressed J.Crew. Very impressed.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone done a review on the summerlight terry daisy sweatshirt ??? or seen a return at their store as a return? I am dying for this and it is completely sold out everywhere :(!
ReplyDeleteI am looking for an xxs or xs!
No stores, but ordered a bunch of stuff to try on in peace. Youll know me the next time im in a store, I will be the demented lady with both arms full of returns .
ReplyDeleteI went to the Crewlet yesterday and have a few reviews here-
ReplyDeletej-crew-factory-reviews-and-one-boden.html
Not visiting any stores this weekend but I am seriously considering ordering the Lula glitter flat in gold and the Factory Shrunken Fisherman's Sweater in white. Any thoughts? Does anyone have the flats? Do they cause blisters? Would you pay full price for them? Thanks for any replies in advance.
ReplyDeleteAnnabella, I ordered and returned the Fabiola too. Like Whitney, too low cut for my office and I don't want clothes I have to add something to in order to make them work. It would have worked with a cami theoretically, but also like Whitney I live in a hot climate and don't want another layer to worry about. Plus I think the depth of the v-neck looked awkward with a cami. It looked like exactly what it was, an attempt to make up for a deep v-neck with a cami. If that makes sense. Nice dress but it's a cotton fabric that doesn't scream evening to me so I didn't see the point in keeping it for dinners or events.
ReplyDeleteStopped by the factory store ... Picked up the leopard print perfect shirt {40% off} ... I really like it!
ReplyDeleteUniv Park Village in FW has a small women's sale section. If anyone's still interested in them, I did see a few lace popovers in white and the peach/pink color, XS and XXS only (can't recall the price). Quite a few of the merino tatted lace sweaters as well in all 3 colors and variety of sizes for $59.99. Also select items are marked down (certain colors of the Jackie cardigans, tees, sweaters, same old blah blah blah).
ReplyDeleteDid anyone go to Southlake? I really want to use my rewards card!
Did anyOne notice if the factory stores carried the ruffled gamine jacket and if the prIce was the same onlIne? Tia!
ReplyDeleteNicole, I have the flats and love them. They have never caused me blisters - I find the newer ballet flats to be so much more comfortable than previous years' versions. I think you will like them!
ReplyDeletewell fed fred,
ReplyDeleteI also put in a huge order yesterday - I don't know if I am hoping it will all be perfect or not!
Visited 2 J Crews in NYC yesterday. Unexpected live was the two 25" pencil skirts - the abstract leopard and the paisley. I don't like the patterns enough to buy either one but both were unbelievably slimming and flattering.
ReplyDeleteBought the $98 denim jacket (like how soft it is), the retro dot tunic, a Jackie cardigan on sale (went up 1 size), and the copper basket weave shirt (don't remember its actual name - also on sale)
Sorry - that was supposed to be "unexpected love" - posting from my phone
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know what color Jackie's are on sale in stores? TIA
ReplyDeleteThe ones I remember seeing on sale were orange, burgundy, and violet.
DeleteThanks Sue.bee and shopalot. Just picked up a jackie in the blue colorway (almost a cobalt color). Very pretty. Definitely had to size up though. Weird.
DeleteYeah, the Jackie runs very small for some unknown reason. I wear an XXS/XS in everything else, but I always have to get an S for just the Jackies!
DeleteSlightly OT, but I have a 2008 Jackie and compared it with this year's, and the '08 body length is about 2 inches longer! The sleeves are also more tapered than this year's. I don't mind the shorter length, but I'm not a huge fan of the sleeves.
Savvy Shopper: The stores I visited had the following Jackie colors on sale for $39.99:
ReplyDeleteFiesta Purple
Fresh Mango
pale mint green color - didn't check tag, looked like "Breeze"
Like Cate, I had to go up a size in the Jackie cardigan. The newer ones are (on me anyway) shorter in length and smaller in the shoulder.
Thank you, WMM! I think you have sold me! My gut says wait til there's a coupon code but I want them so badly! I might have to order them today!
ReplyDeletePlease forgive this very off-topic comment (and feel free to delete it, if necessary, Alexis), but I wasn't sure where to post this on JCA to get some good responses. :) I've recently purchased two items from the Weekly Exchange that have come to me absolutely reeking of mothballs. The latest item is a lady-lace popover, which is too big for me. However, I feel I can't resell it without getting rid of the toxic odor (mothball vapors are very, very bad for you), and I don't know how to remove the chemical odor. Any suggestions? I'm so frustrated because I can't wear, or sell, either of these very nice items!!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteleahklevar@gmail.com
Hey Leah, I read this and I hope you aren't referring to the pants I sent you. In any case I want you to know that I do not use moth balls. Hope that helps!
DeleteLeah, first try hanging the items outside. That often helps, if you can hang them in the sun and breeze for a while. Smelleze also works pretty well. My grandma used to put an item in a plastic bag with coffee beans, the beans absorbed the mothball odor.
ReplyDeleteI went on Thursday night. I just posted reviews of Fanfare popover and Jules dress, crinkle chiffon skirt and more HERE
ReplyDelete.
I went today in search of the foulard capris reviewed by AJC and Ema and I loved how they looked on both ladies. I am not a big fan of patterned pants but I have to say I love these!! So I have to ask this question, does anyone ever try on more then one pair of the same size pants or for that matter the same size in skirts?? I tried on 3 size 2s before I found one that fit the best. One pair I could barely zip!! Is this me or has this happened to others. Maybe I am just between sizes now, because the 4s were just not flattering, a little frumpy IMO. I also bought the sale Jackie cardigan in the cerise color I believe it's called, and it went very well with the capris. Thank you ladies!!
ReplyDeleteit is not only you, it happened to me before. Also, sometimes there is no difference between two sizes. I guess they layer too many pieces on top of each other when they cut it and it is impossible to get consistent fit.
Delete@ MB
ReplyDeleteI find that with J Crew stuff all the time! Sometimes I believe things have been mislabeled (like with the Blythe blouse I ordered that was clearly a petite but marked a regular) and other times I guess it's just a quality control issue. It's such a shame because it makes ordering final sale even less appealing - you could get a different fitting garment than what you've tried on.
MB, quick question: What was the color code on that jackie you picked up, and what store was it? My store only had a blue, orange and purple on sale. Picked up the blue, but would love to have a red as well. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI grabbed the dark red jackie, code is DRA. Reminds me of Heather Henna. I got mine from the University Village store. There were also Spearmint ones on sale. HTH.
DeleteHi Savvy shopper the color code on my jackie is MCH, I guess for cherry maybe?? That was the last one in the store but the Greenwich, CT store had many more and more of the jackies in the purple shades. I HTH. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone with the sizing issue. My PS says I am the only one who does this. :)
DeleteThanks Closet Crisis and MB.
