They are offering 20% off (on regular and sale items) on orders of $150+ with promo code SUNNY. Another amazing thing is this offer is applicable to both online and in-store purchases (just print out the email) at J.Crew, as well as J.Crew Factory online (click here to shop online). This offer ends Tuesday, April 5, 2011. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid in J.Crew retail stores and at jcrew.com only. Please print out email to redeem offer in J.Crew retail stores. Offer is not valid at J.Crew Factory stores. Offer does not apply to previous purchases, alterations or the purchase of gift cards. Offer not applicable to third-party branded merchandise. 20% discount applies to purchases of $150 or more before shipping, handling and taxes are added. Offer valid through Tuesday, April 5, 2011, 11:59pm ET. Savings are applied at checkout with code SUNNY. Offer not valid on phone orders. Cannot be combined with any other promotion or redeemed for cash. Limit one promotional code per order. Terms of offer subject to change.
Will you be checking out J.Crew & J.Crew Factory? Are there any items you are interested in getting? If so, please share. :)
OT, but has anyone tried the Colbey cardigan? If so, can you review it?
ReplyDeleteThis is a great promo. I need to buy some shirts and things for my DH so perfect!
ReplyDeleteI will be sitting on the sidelines for this one. I've done enough damage with the 30% off promo. :)
ReplyDeleteOT, though the promo is good for factory, which is nice: has anyone tried the Factory poplin skirt? It looks similar to the wool bungalow skirt from a while ago, but I'm wondering whether, because it's lighter fabric, it wouldn't be as poofy.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone share successful stacking of the green Mickey card with this promotion at the retail stores? Would love to hear whether we may be able to get 40% off instead of 20%! I need a suit for interviews and this would be a huge help for my poor student budget.
ReplyDeleteFree shipping isn't included, is it?
ReplyDeleteOh waidda second. No free shipping, forget what I said. I'll be sitting this out, DH's shirts can wait for sale time.
ReplyDeleteNo FS on this - although, maybe that will change if they don't get many takers on this promo.
ReplyDeleteThis is so nice if you can go into a store. I wish I had a store near by :-D
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see that it can be used on Crewcuts and handbags (while the Mickey card excluded Crewcuts and handbags).
ReplyDeleteI don't think they will allow to stack this promo with the Mickey card.
Hmm, they must not have been getting a very good response to the Mickey card! I don't have anything in my bag right now (and it is far from "sunny" here) so I will pass.
ReplyDeleteWhoop! Promos on regular price don't come up very often. I think I may have to partake...
ReplyDeleteMy apologies for posting that free shipping was included. I thought it did, but as many of you correctly pointed out, it does not. Which is kind of crappy. I mean, I like the 20% off in store part, but 20% off and still paying for shipping on $150 online is not so great.
ReplyDeleteI used the free shipping code to get a sale popback instead. Boo to jcrew for no free shipping with this offer. I would have bought much more.
ReplyDeleteOh poo. Alexis is right - this offer is actually kinda the pits. No free ship AND you have to spend 150 to get the discount? Meh, I think I've changed my mind.
ReplyDeleteWell I did bite on this one. I have been very upset to miss out on the lombardy mocs in spruce time and time again. They were here this morning so hopefully I don't get the dreaded cancel email. Of course I added in 4 other pairs of shoes. Even though they are final sale and now I am stuck...can anyone review the following:
ReplyDelete1. Sperry Top-Sider® Authentic Original 2-eye metallic boat shoes
2. Langford wool high-heel oxfords
3. Camden suede brogues - I have heard reviews of these and it sounds like people really like them, but don't know what to wear them with. For those of you who do wear them, what do you wear them with? I was thinking dark skinny jeans and even a skirt if I was bold :)
Any help on these items would be greatly appreciated!
@Kathryn -- the coupon says specifically cannot be combined with other promotions. I doubt you'll be able to get them to combine the offers.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting that this offer didn't have the exclusions that the mickey card does, e.g. no suits or handbags. It seems like this is a better deal than the mickey card, imho, which makes me much less excited about using the mickey card.
Ah, springtime in New York. 10 minutes ago it was snowing, changed to sleet, now glimmery clouds. Is this worth (gasp!) going outside for? not.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...of course I placed an order yesterday! Got free shipping but just did the math and if I'd gotten 20% off instead (and paid shipping), I'd still be saving $20. I'm thinking about calling CS to ask them if they'd let me go the promo route.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteoops, sub again. :)
ReplyDeleteHate to complain, but no FS makes it a non-promo, at lesat online.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't they get with almost every other retailer and offere either $5 flat-rate or free shipping all the time?!
I would have loved to us this promo for some items I've had my eye on, but without free shipping it's just not a great deal. I wish J Crew would realize that people would spend more with free shipping and no $150 minimum purchase.
ReplyDeleteCara: I haven't tried the solid color of the poplin skirt, but I did try on the printed version here (scroll down to last pic). I really like this skirt and didn't find it at all poofy. hth!
ReplyDeleteOh jcrew, quit blowing sunny up my butt.
ReplyDelete@ Cara
ReplyDeleteI also tried on the poplin factory skirt and thought it was quite cute and not puffy at all. I don't know if it was just the ones I tried on but I had to size down and it still fit a little lower than I would have liked. HTH!
Thanks, AppGal and OperaRach!
ReplyDeleteEyelet tunic now $19.99 in store, both the chambray and the white. Still $69 online. I would say WTF but am so used to it now.
ReplyDeleteDelaney eyelet top (the short-sleeve one) is now $49.99 in store. Arianna dress now $49.99. All very new! Sigh.
If anyone is looking for the Rainy Day jacket, there is a whole bunch at Tysons Galleria. Mostly bigger sizes. $79.99 in store.
Just back from my B&M, picked up the esplanade shorts in nightfall blue, wilder dress & some crewcuts for the little ones! All with the 20% off ofcourse :)
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to spend $1000 on full-priced items, the 20% promo is probably a good deal. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many times I've scraped the sale section looking for bargains. :) I wish J Crew's web site had little color squares under the photos so you could easily see what colors were available. Anthropologie has that.
ReplyDeleteOkay so is it just me or does anyone else miss the days when you looked at an item on the website and everything else the model was wearing was featured on the right side of the page? I hate when I am looking at something and I love what it is paired with but I have no idea what that other piece is. Just looking for a little support on this one.. I know I am not the only crazy one who appreciated that.
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple full-price items I would get if the promo included free shipping, but since it doesn't I'll just continue to wait for them to get marked down.
ReplyDeletecrewgurl - i also miss that too! i thought i was the only one! i really liked a belt in a couple of pics and looked to the right, and there are just other pics there that have nothing to do with what i'm looking at. like if i'm looking at a shirt, i would either like everything the model is wearing, or other suggestions like 'you might also like'.
ReplyDelete@The French Made: Thank you!! I knew it couldn't possibly just be me. I think that has happened to me with belts also, but most recently a pair of pants that I could not find anywhere! I wish there was somewhere on the website where you could post suggestions that would make the site and the shopping experience more enjoyable and more helpful.
ReplyDeleteCrewGirl and FrenchMade: So with you there. I'm all about "buying the outfit". Where is the outfit? JC could do quite a bit to make their website more shopper-friendly. No wish-list either, it's archaic i tell you!
ReplyDeleteDaniBP- I agree. Another thing that bothers me is that if I have 12 items in my cart but I only want to purchase 2 right now, I have to empty the whole cart and then refill it after I purchase the 2 items I want. A "wish list" would definitely help with this. You would think for such a seasoned and successful company, they would be up on these things.
ReplyDeleteWent to a B&M today and saw no signage about then 20%off promo. SA's didn't know anything about it!
ReplyDeleteThey looked it up online and of course, said they would honor it, but geez talk about missed sales for the store from other customers!
SE Mom, same thing at the store I visited. Even the mgr didn't know!! This poor girl next to me was trying to get it applied to her previous $1000 order - she said CS told her to come into her store. Ugh, I would be so irritated! Thank God for my awesome PS - she takes care of stuff like that no problem.
ReplyDelete@ Stene - I have the sperry angelfish metallic flats and I love them. One whole size smaller was needed. Nordies only: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/sperry-top-sider-angelfish-boat-shoe-nordstrom-exclusive/3147683?origin=related-3147683-0-0-2
ReplyDeleteNO FS, No purchases!
ReplyDeletePatmosJD, you could always call them and ask them to ship. Even with a shipping fee, 50% is pretty darn good. I'd offer to go for you, but don't plan be back there for awhile. Email me if you'd like a rundown on what I can remember they have.
ReplyDeletemommydearestjca at yahoo
Thanks mommydearest! Just sent you an email.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any ideas if taking the coupon into the store and having them do the order would get me free shipping (from ordering in the store) AND allow me to use the coupon for 20% off? Or is that considered a phone order?
ReplyDeleteI'm coveting the orange Cecilia dress, but need it in petite. I'm hesitant to order it online though because if it doesn't fit I'm out the shipping. And that would be annoying!
Thanks for any opinions!
sub :)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the Boardwalk cargo short? I normally wear a petite size 4. I'm debating between 2 and 4 for these shorts. Thanks!
ReplyDelete@ Linda
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the info! That is SUPER helpful. I'm debating between XS and XXS. I have narrow shoulders so do you think the XXS would work? How much extra room do you feel like you have in the body? Hopefully they will have another promo as I would have preferred to order it with the 30% off. You can also feel free to email me if you have a moment: rachel_gahan @ hotmail.com
TIA!!!!
Wendy - if you have a personal shopper, they can request free shipping and apply the coupon on red phone orders. Mine does this for me all the time.

ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of J.crew, but 've got disappointed in Jcrew's current Japan relief campaign tee. I'm deeply sorry for Japan's disaster, but hope Jcrew has better understating of international relations and political issues.
ReplyDeleteThere's boycott of all j.crew products regarding this.
====================================
The "Women's Japan Love tee," item 52460, incorrectly labels the East Sea as the "Sea of Japan." This name originates from the period of Japanese imperialism and the brutal Japanese occupation of Korea from 1905-1945. It is part and parcel of the legacy of this time, which includes genocide, atrocities, slave labor, and the exploitation of tens of thousands of Korean and Chinese women as sex-slaves - the "comfort women" - by the Japanese. The United Nations has recognized that this body of water should be referred to as the "East Sea/Sea of Japan." Please change the name on this tee shirt to a less offensive and inaccurate name. Pending this change, we will be joining a boycott of all j.crew products. The attached link contains information pertaining to this issue.

Thank you for your time!
Red,
ReplyDeleteWow thank you for the info. I heard Marissa Web is Korean adopted by American parents. Doesn't she oversee those products?
I won't be using my Mickey Green card so if anyone wants to put it to good use, let me know so I can mail it to you before the exp date 4/11. I haven't signed it in the back.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I was so excited to visit a B&M this week while on vacation (we don't live close to a store) and was VERY underwhelmed by all of J. Crew's current offerings. My DH commented that this was a first - me not wanting everything in the store. I did walk away with a pair of Avenelle Cutout Wedges in black. I had been drooling over them online and once I tried them on, had to have. The price wasn't too bad with the Mickey card.
ReplyDeleteHi Cuckoo
ReplyDeleteI tried to find an email address on your profile but couldn't see one.
If no one has claimed your Mickey card yet I would love to have it. My email is :
ejssala@yahoo.ca
Thanks!
Has anyone Seen the cotton blousanna top in stores yet?
ReplyDeleteOperaRach: I measured Indigo-stripe boatneck sailor tee in XS for you. Shoulder width is 13.5 inches, which is the same as their XS perfect-fit tees. Body width is 17 inches. This may sound quite wide but it doesn't look that way at all on me. There isn't much stretch in the material. It's true that my torso would fit in an XXS, but my shoulder and arms sure won't. The arms don't have that much room left, especially if I roll them up. FYI, I'm 5'5", 110 lb, and fairly small-boned. This is one of the best tops I bought from J. Crew. Has a very "million-dollar yacht" look. I think most people can go with their regular J. Crew size for knits and tees.
ReplyDeleteRed, I wouldn't criticize anyone for letting J Crew know about their sea name mix-up, but a boycott? Isn't that a bit extreme? They're trying to raise some money to help the people in Japan, why be so harsh on them? MapQuest shows "Sea of Japan" as do many other sites. Are you planning to send your threatening letter to all of them too?
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much - that info is super super helpful. Of course now the size XS is sold out but I'm sure it will pop back!
I visited my B and M today, and was excited to find the double serge pencil skirt in Bronzed Ochre in my size, marked down! I purchased it, and was able to red phone my order for the Delaney dress to get the 20% discount. Very happy about this!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I was upset to see that the printed Ella dress was marked down to $39.99 after I purchased it a week or two ago for $79.99. When I asked if I could get a price adjustment, I was told no since it was already marked down. You better believe I will be returning it, then re-purchasing it! That's $40, and I haven't even worn it yet!
I don't think J.Crew made an error. There is a dispute about the name, but the Sea of Japan is still the more commonly used name.
ReplyDeleteVisited my local B&M today and it was packed. I have never seen so many people in my store, it was very strange, and I kind of missed having it all to myself.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't have as many new arrivals as I had hoped, but they did have the eyelet schoolboy blazer I had really been wanting to try. I normally HATE eyelet, but something about it being on a blazer and in gray made it intriguing. I was torn on it at the store but got it and with the 20% off I think it was a good purchase. It's really lightweight so will be great now and then in the evenings when it gets warmer. Other than that I didn't see much I even wanted to try on.
I went shopping in store yesterday & used my card. I found lots of sale items that weren't on sale online, but good size selection was out the window. Found a cute cobalt blue sweater (sweatshirt really), only had size small, but I can't find it online. :( I am not used to shopping in store so I didn't think to get item # or call. Booooo.
ReplyDeleteNo free shipping? Forget it.
ReplyDeletealmost checked out with a dress, but without fs, i am holding back.
ReplyDeleteAndie: that sounds like the Sun-drenched sweatshirt in "abstract blue" that is now completely sold-out online. It was item #37252.
ReplyDeleteJS, how was the sizing on the Eyelet Schoolboy blazer?
ReplyDeleteMaryeb- the eyelet blazer ran TTS for my usual blazer size. It might have been just slightly bigger through the bust than normal. It is very lightweight compared to the other schoolboy blazers so it is really nice for summer, and easy to move in. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of it!
ReplyDeleteJS, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm still debating on whether or not to take advantage of this promo. I've got my eye on a number of things but really hate to have my savings chewed up by the shipping charges. Especially if I need to exchange something.
Sorry that this isn't more timely, but there's still Tuesday. I think this promotion is meant to motivate you to shop at the retail stores. I don't have a personal shopper, but the friendlier retail stores have honored the discount on in-store, sale-priced items as well on red-phoned, regular-priced items--as long as the total is $150+.
ReplyDeleteI did make a purchase with this promo, two sale items. One was a pair of size 7 shoes that I didn't think would last very long, 7's being so common. I would have liked to wait for 30% off, oh well.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the added benefit of reducing the sales tax. I'm in Chicago, we're #1 for sales tax here. :(
Tamara, and I thought California's 9.0% was bad...
ReplyDeleteNice unbiased source you have there Red. I am sure "PR Korea" has no eggs in that basket. Even the site you sent recognizes that international law recognizes the sea as the Sea of Japan. There have been a million names for every territory, but modern nations recognize laws. The world is run by the major powers, and at the time, and since then, all major powers (except recently China) call it the Sea of Japan. The UN isn't a democracy you know.
