This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

ReplyDeletecan somebody please comment on the vintage bateau top from last year?
ReplyDeleteis it TTS?
TIA
Ina : I have that in the extra small and it's quite a loose fit. I think you should stick with that size
ReplyDeleteHi ina, I'd say you could probably size down comfortably. I'm usually a S and the vintage bateau S was generous throughout the body. Beware that the neckline may "roll" after washing.

ReplyDeleteina, I think it is TTS with a loose fit. Mine has developped holes under the underarms (the camel one, not the pink that have worn less).
ReplyDeleteoops sub again
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think Ema's right about that! If you want a loose fit, stay with your size, if not, go down. Sorry to hear about the holes, Ema! My navy one has "rolled" at the neckline, but the pewter one looks okay (knock on wood).
ReplyDeleteSaw a new schoolboy blazer at the B&M - light blue with thin white stripes, unlined, $118. Basically, I think it's the perfect button-down shirt material made into a blazer. Cute, but WAY overpriced.
thanks for all the answers.
ReplyDeletei cant go down in the size, because i am a xs.
i found the xs in grey on a popback.
Subscribing. :)

ReplyDeleteOrdered the Ryden jacket a while back with the 30% promo. At such great price point, I was sure I would keep at least one color. However, when it arrived, I noticed it runs large and on me, it just was not structured. I was hoping it'd be a bit fitted, but it was boxy. and the material did not lay well. If you're petite or a regular 0/XS, this jacket won't work for you...I'm sticking to my Downtown Field Jacket...
ReplyDeletesub!
ReplyDeletemore about Target/PS1 bag and the JC Paisley Skirt in this post
ReplyDeleteI have a new obsession! The sperry top-sider. Received the dark gold color on Friday with the 20% off and have worn them every day. Super comfortable, fits TTS, and sooo adorable! Went into my local B&M yesterday (last day of the 20% off) and had her look for the bright orange for me. Just saw them re-appear today, praying I can still somehow finagle the 20% off. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of the Camp Pocket Cardi, which in on sale right now for $39.99. I reviewed it here. It fits true to size for me, and comes in a bunch of colors that will work great thru summer and into fall!
ReplyDeletePics of the shrunken fisherman sweater in this post.
ReplyDeleteBought 3 jackie cardigans (neon azealea, radient orchid, and a lavender color that the website doesn't have the name of). I love the fit, it's not that thick so it'll be good for cool summer nights/transition weather. Love all three colors.
ReplyDeleteBought the wave tank in black stripes...I didn't expect it to be flattering, but stripes cut on a biasis is something you have to try on in person to believe. Towards the end of the tank, there are two layers of the material so that it kind of looks fluttering but in a non-cutesy way. I love it...wore it with jeans the other day and am now wearing it at work with J. Crew black wool pants and a radiant orchid Jackie cardigan.
Purchased the eyelet blazer in gray and islet paisley perfect shirt recently. Got both of them with the 20% Mickey card. Blazer fits TTS and will definitely be perfect through out spring. It's lined and the only small problem I've had is that it seems to "shed" strings. I had to trim several when I got it. Maybe I'm just OCD about it :) but the eyelet work is beautiful and I love the concept of the jacket. The islet paisley is a keeper too! The print is amazing with bright colors and the orange that is oh-so-popular right now. It fits TTS as well. Happy with both these purchases.
ReplyDeleteKind of late in the season but in case anyone is still debating the Trouper pants (which appear on pop-back regularly), I finally got around to posting an IRL pic of me in my Trouper pants. Quite loose in the waist, as expected, and probably would have done better with a size 4, but love the colour, the material and the stretchiness.
ReplyDeleteAfter a long delay, Canada Post finally delivered two of my orders today! I got the Sailor sweater (37905) in black & linen stripe, size Small. Fits true to size, and snugger in the sleeves than I was expecting from the photos online. Love it - it will look great with denim trousers and pearl necklace.
I also got the Baby raglan tee (37271) in ivory, size Small - runs a little loose in the body, but otherwise it's really pretty - the little metal buttons and the open needlework are nice touches. Although the website photo shows an off-white, the colour is definitely ivory.
Shelby Dress in real life here: http://mysuperfluities.blogspot.com/2011/04/spring-into-style-day-six-2011.html
ReplyDeleteThoughts include that it does run a bit large (I would say two sizes big if you are smaller on top and one size too big if you are more "endowed").
Love the dusty pink color, so pretty.
Has anyone tried the Sequin fête dress?
ReplyDeleteI purchased the Lisse Jacket in super 120s--the jacket is adorable! double breasted, kinda cropped, 3/4 sleeve and looks great both unbuttoned and buttoned.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone purchase their Super 120s? My question is, this jacket is black -- do all Super 120s match colorwise? Cany I pick up a pair of trouser in black and expect them to match?
TIA! :-D
(Also got the Maggie cropped trousers and they fit great like really great, a little more snug in the hips than the cafe capri, they are unlined but the fabric is nice, I don't mind.)
pathos I purchase the Super 120s and I got a nice mix by buying the Lisse in both colors for about $60 each, the Elan trousers in all four colors for around $40-60 a pair, the navy and black two button and the 1035 trousers in the matching grey, navy and black. That gave me four jackets, multiple pants and lots of ways to mix them up all in the Super 120s. I bought them all on either percentage off sale (Lisse and Elan) or a 20% promo for the full price Super 120s. I'm pretty set now on suiting.
ReplyDeleteIna--the vintage bateau from last year is my all-time favorite t-shirt I got every color and two of one of them. Where did you find it?!
ReplyDeletefor any of you "boy-borrowers"; I love khakis and buy men's for an oversize/baggy/loose look (I like the women's on the slim side). This time I got the "stantons" instead of the "worn-in chinos". They are very, very soft and lighter weight so the hang/drape nicer--if any of you like that look, try the stanton. I sized down as they run larger than the worn-ins. I hope they make them in white for the summer!
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't know the name off the top of my head, but I got the cotton cami that has an empire waist and eyelet on the bottom. LOVE!!! I think it is so flattering. It looks great under a sweater or blazer w/skinny jeans. It runs TTS to maybe a bit big. I got it in a 10 and it fits and I do usually wear a 10 or 12 on top. The mustard yellow color is $39.99 in store. I
ReplyDeleteHi Jruby18! Sounds like the Katie Eyelet Cami. I can't wait to pick it up in the sale section, since I love the Katie Colorblock so much. :)
ReplyDelete@gem twin
ReplyDeleteit was a popback
Elizabeth thank you!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the gloverall plaid toggle coat? How does the sizing work? The only size left is a 34 what would that convert to in US sizing?
ReplyDeleteThanks
sub
ReplyDelete@maryse: My JC size is P8 or regular 6. I have an old Gloverall and it's a 40, fits like a solid north american 8 (room to pile on the layers). I recently bought an APC blazer, size 36. Fits like a glove. So guessing the 34 will fit a N.A. size 2 or 4. Your best bet is to phone CS for measurements. HTH.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the Sirah dress? My PS sent me the measurements, but I am unsure of what size to get. Thanks!
