Sneak Peak: Metallic Beach Cardigan

A big "thanks!" to Fashion Dork (the beautiful blogger behind Fashion Dork) who shared with us images & details of an upcoming new arrival.

The Metallic Beach Cardigan (Item 23159; $129.00) comes in two lovely shades: Metallic Silver & Metallic Camel. It is expected to be available this March or May.

What are your thoughts on the cardigan? Do you like the style & colors? Would you pre-order this cardigan?

  1. I just saw this cardigan at the grand opening of J.Crew in Newark, DE. This is a really pretty cardi in person.

  2. The sweater is pretty but the colors remind me of Fall and not Spring.

  5. Lisa -- was the sweater soft? Whenever I see metallic threads I imagine it's very scratchy.

  6. This looks nice enough, but I'm more of a fan of metallics on accessories.

I wonder what makes JC describe an item as "beach"? I've gotten a couple things throughout the years described as such. One was a pair of heavyweight cotton lounge pants with a small pocket on one cheek, and those suckers have lasted a dog's age. Eight or nine years of constant rotation? Another was a cotton/spandex blend sweater, long sleeves, henley placket, and a hood. Very light and incredibly comfortable, I finally had to retire it when the off white got a huge stain on it that wouldn't budge. Though these wore great, I don't know what makes them beach when in a photo from the recent catalog had the model on the beach wearing the ethereal ruffle cardi which doesn't scream sand and surf to me.

  7. Clicquot,

I thought the exact same thing! Metallic equals ichty in my book and I stay away from all metallic threads.

I did like the metallic tanks from Winter 08 b/c it was printed on silver or gold on the cotton.

  8. These look very cute, I would be interested to know the scratchiness factor too.

  9. Cute style, but I'll have to see it in person. I usually reserve metallics for the holidays.

  10. Seems a little pricey for "beach" (which I'm equating to lightweight/thin) sweater to me, but I look forward to seeing it in person!

  11. I guess I'd have to see it in person and try it on. I don't have a lot of metallic in my wardrobe so who knows! it looks too dressy for the beach but I'd wear it around town.

  12. Just saw these at my local b&m. Gorgeous in person, the metallic shimmer is not too much and it's very soft, not itchy at all. Both colors were nice, I got the camel as I have a lot of gray and silver. Definitely something to look at in real life (pictures don't do it justice)

  14. This sweater is not itchy at all. I am definately going to get this when it goes on sale. It will give a basic outfit some additional pop! but it is subtle enough that it doesnt look like a Fall/Holiday sweater. I love it!!

  15. I really like it, but I don't see any information about the fiber.
