Off On a Tangent: Liberty of London {at Target!}

Don't worry, I am still all about the Crew! But sometimes there are codes/ offers from other retailers that might be useful for some J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados, like now...
A big "thanks!" to Desert Flower who shared the following {a-m-a-z-i-n-g} news with us: Liberty of London is coming to Target (yes, Target!) staring on March 14th! Even more awesome, the partnership will not just include {beautiful} clothes, but also items for the home. (Click here to preview online.)

Desert Flower was also nice enough to scan & share the following articles featuring items from this new line of Liberty for Target. The first image (the "what's now!" article) comes from a recent issue of InStyle Magazine. The second image (the "O, what a buy!" article) comes from a recent issue of Oprah Magazine. The third image (the "Liberty of London in Target Stores" article) comes from the latest People StyleWatch Magazine. Just click on any of the images below to view a larger version.
I heard of them before in regards to J.Crew. So who is this Liberty of London?
Liberty of London is a 134-year old British company known for distinctive textiles and prints. J.Crew has offered several styles over the years using Liberty fabrics. Take for example the sold-out Liberty Vintage-Floral Perfect Shirt (Item 15501; $118.00).

I did not know that Liberty for London was coming to Target until Desert Flower alerted me to the news. I am thrilled about this upcoming line! I cannot wait to see these items at my local store. From the Liberty shirts & dresses to the home decor to even a bicycle— I think I am going to really love this new collaboration! :)

Lastly, check out the following posts from some fellow JCAs about this exciting news:
Are you excited about Liberty of London coming to Target? Are you a fan of Liberty's fabrics & designs?

  1. I really like some of the Liberty fabrics and when I lived in the London area I bought several that really caught my eye. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I find some of these from Target to NOT be so "pretty". But maybe in person.....might be better...

  2. Lovely stuff, but my gripe with the designer lines at Target is that they sell out incredibly quickly (in a few hours even) and you never see it again.

  3. Love it! In fact, I'm torn between telling everyone I know and not saying a word so as to save more for my own greedy little paws. Can't wait 'til March!

  4. I could weep. Will be in line on the morning of the 14th!

  6. Take that j.crew. Now the same shirt I would have paid $125 for...will now be $25. That's cool.

  7. Haha Christy! Yeah, I'm so looking forward to getting some Liberty pieces and I was drooling over the stuff featured in O magazine...
I'm hoping it's not madness to actually get it.
Thanks for sharing, Alexis and Desert Flower!

  8. Casey, I know what you mean. I'm hoping shoppers will be satiated by the Gaultier for Target line that comes out on March 7 and miss the Liberty line so we can buy it :) The yellow/black print sheath is calling to me. And I'm certain I need the peacock print pillows.

  9. Thanks so much for the link love, Alexis!

I will camping out in my car in the Target parking lot the night before.

  10. Yes, the special lines like this sell out in minutes so will likely be hard to get. Pretty but not something I have to have...

  11. I am beyond excited about this line, but sad that I don't have a Target in my area. I will have to make-do with checking everything out online, so I'm hoping things don't sell out too fast!

  12. I can't wait and plan to be at my Target when it opens that day. :)

  13. Interestingly, I haven't seen a button down shirt in any of the previews and promos, nor in the press lookbook my friend who works at the newspaper let me peek at. There are a few button downs for men, but none for us ladies that I can tell. Plenty of tops in different styles, just no button downs.

  14. Yes! Can't wait to check out their floral dresses -- perfect for spring. :)

  15. I have that whole outfit (linen shorts & Liberty floral perfect shirt) and it's one of my favorites. I envy all the American JCAs who get to shop at Target!!

  16. I am SO excited for this! I like the lamp, the piggy bank, the sheath dress, a couple of the tops. Brilliant! I will be there on March 14th so I can be sure to find my size!

  17. I am SO excited! I will probably end up buying every clothing item. I am worried it will sell out though, like Casey said.

  18. A former coworker of my hubby--his wife--works directly for Target. I had him call his old coworker this am. She gets to wear and trial their clothes for free. I had hubby check and she can get me some pieces. According to her the shirts (button downs) are only for men but I can rock one;) I am so excited! No fighting crowds:)

  19. I absolutely LOVE Liberty of London. I looked into buying Liberty of London fabric and sewing some shirts a couple years ago, but the fabric alone is outrageously expensive so I didn't do it. Unfortunately I suspect Casey is correct and the demand will far exceed the stock available, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

  20. I live in a town where most people have never heard of the designers that Target collaborates with. There are still Rodarte items at 75% at one of my local Targets. I got a bikini bottom for less than $5. Yeah, just the bottom. It's my pool, my yard...I don't need a top.

  21. SC - have you by any chance seen the Rodarte raincoat at your local Target? I happened upon the Rodarte line way too late, and called a bunch of Targets, but couldn't find one in a small anywhere.

  22. Yeah, it was an x-small. It was $9.98 and I was going to buy it but it was too small. So I bought the bikini bottom in the same print. I'm in Central California though.

  23. Ohmygosh, crazy. I take it Target has no kind of mail and charge it to you kind of thing :( I can't believe how late I was to this party. Thanks, SC.

  25. Raina, I don't think that's the entire line. There are images in the magazine photos that aren't there. It's a good look though! It's the same images that went out in the look books for the press. I have a friend who works for a publication and I got a look at that book several weeks ago.

  26. I love Liberty of London fabrics. My Mom used to make me dresses from the fabrics. If you are ever in London make sure you drop by one of there stores, the prints are beautiful.
Years ago when Laura Ashley had B&M's you would see a lot of there prints in there Spring-Summer collection. I am so glad they are coming back again.

  27. Everything debuted in stores yesterday. I wasn't able to go to the store until late last night. A LOT of sizes were already gone!!

I did buy a dress in the girl's section that I loved for $17!! So I went online and ordered a lot more stuff. I'm 5'3" and wear a size 4. The girl's XL fit well. I don't like the women's dresses as much though :o( There is a beautiful peacock print top for women. Already out of stock online and at my closest Target. I plan on trying to find it this week....
