Cardmember Email: Psst. The gotta-have-it spring necklace, just for Cardmembers.

"Thanks!" to many of you, including HeidiG, Rosa In DC, Marietta, Twiga, Cass, & Alisa, who shared with us the latest email from J.Crew to its card members.

The email above features the not-yet-officially-released-online Crystal Rock Necklace (Item 26074; $128.00). J.Crew describes the rock candy necklace (which comes in either Gunmetal or Copper) as:
A bold statement piece, assembled completely by hand with oversize stones (we love the contrast of their heft with the beautiful luminosity of the faceted glass). Equally at home peeking from beneath a button-down shirt or grazing the neckline of a favorite dress, it's the one you'll wear again and again—and again. Round glass stones on a hematite-plated (gunmetal) or copper-and-gold-plated (copper) brass-and-steel chain. Signature spring clasp closure with connector ring.
Frankly, I am not sure if I like this necklace or not. The round glass stones (in both shades) are lovely. However, I am not sure what to make of the stones surrounded by cheap-looking chain. And the size factor... dayum! Is it just me, or does it look huge on the mannequin?

Incidentally, does this email only indicate that new arrivals will be available online soon? If so, then wahoo!

What are your thoughts on the Crystal Rock Necklace? Do you like the style- from the size to the style with its glass stones & chains?

  1. I already bought the Dusty Blossom Duchess Necklace which I love and is still dainty enough. I recommend this as a good and cheaper alternative.

  2. Second that GlobeTrotter. I have both the Dusty Blossom Duchess and Majesty Stone necklaces (purchased on sale no less) and love them both dearly. But I'd never rock this - it's just too much.

  3. Hideous! To big and cheap looking. Come on Jcrew, you can do better than this!

  4. CheesyGoodness - even more than Muge. Fuge.

    Just call me Wilma Flintstone.

  5. Not loving it. Looks really cheap not to mention too big as others are saying.

  7. I like the way it looks with the chains and stones, but the scale is just too big! Too bad.

  8. wow! they weren't kidding about rock candy! those things are huge like boulders! not a look that i'm going for. pass!!!!

  9. If it gets wet, will it melt? Will my shirt become a sticky mess?

Someone should email CS and ask if this is made from real Rock Sugar.

  10. I am luke warm on the necklace. It is not a huge departure from what we have already seen. I was told at the B&M, that new offerings would hit 2/22!

  11. I suppose you can wear this somewhat cute but huge necklace when you carry one of JCrew's massive handbags to balance out the scale! What's that commercial where the woman wears really big accessories so people will think she lost weight? ;)

  12. This is ridiculous. Who on earth can pull off such hugeness, and for what occasion?

The size surely cheapens the look of the "stones." Crystal Symphony, actually, is scaled perfectly for my size/wardrobe. No thanks.

  13. I might have overdosed on crewlade but I think I like this... Probably have to see in person to decide for sure. If I do see it I will be sure to do a review.

  14. Twiga, I agree with you that I kind of like this. Of couse it may be terrible IRL. I did not like the tangled treasure necklace online or IRL until I saw it on dinagideon. Then, I tried it on and fell hard. I wore it today and got compliments. All that to say I'm reserving my opinion on this one until I see it IRL.

  15. That shade of pink is very pretty. And I do like the silver tone to the chain as I'm pale/porcelain and that flatters me personally. But I would not purchase this.. way to huge. Definitely wear if you are confident and want to grab attention!!!

  16. Huge J Crew jewelry fan I am, but this piece is not piece de resistance for me.Pass for sure. Huge and vulgar.

  17. I was told to expect New Arrivals online on the 25th. The B&M's will get new merchandise on the 22nd, and then another small rollout about 2 weeks later. I'm not sure how large the one on Monday will be since they are continuing with the new shipments every couple of weeks, as opposed to the occasional large rollout. :)

  18. The necklace is huge and would be very heavy to wear around the neck.

Thanks for the update FFM, I was wondering when the New Arrivals would be on-line.

  19. I'm really not feeling J Crew's jewelry lately. The prices are just killing me--there seems to be nothing under $50. I'm liking Anthro's pieces much better this season, and the prices aren't uniformly outrageous.

  20. I've seen a lot of LARGER necklaces making the scene and they are growing on me.

What I don't like about this one is the color & type of chain- if it could have been gold or silver?

The price is a bit high as well.

So, no no & uh... no.

  21. Did any one notice Casey Cartwright's oufit in the opening scene of Greek this week?

    J. Crew Duo Doggie Tee and striped mohair cardi. Add a beret and Casey has never looked better.

  22. This necklace is gross. It is so incorrect aesthetically. Are they trying to do Wilma-Betty from The Flintstones look ? It would be so complete with a one shoulder/ off shoulder dress.. hehe.
Its really junk; something I wouldn't wear even if it was given to me for free.

  23. Twiga and math teacher,

I kind of like this necklace, too (maybe I've had too much crewlade!). I can't wait to see it IRL, too.

  24. Really chintzy looking. No thanks. I miss the glass beaded double strand necklaces with critter closures from a couple years ago. So pretty!

  25. Good grief! J.Crew is getting desperate for new ideas if this is what they are churning out for a "gotta-have-it" piece. A serious dose of glamour? Well, if glamour what you're calling whackadoo this season, then sure.

This is right up there with the atomic cascading poop necklace, or whatever the heck it was called. Time to back away from the bong.

  26. Em, I totally agree! I miss those necklaces too along with the super cute charm bracelets!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I miss the charms and baubles too! I still wear my Desert Bauble bracelet all the time, like today, and I always get compliments. All the bizarre new asymetrical, giant, ribbon-tied, $100+ junk is a "pass" for me. Screams "tacky."

  28. I think there is the "mini" version of the necklace in the faceted glaçon necklace.

  29. Baybaybay, "FUGE!!!" Right on, on so many levels.

    From dictionary.com: fuge: Origin:
< F < L -fugus, deriv. of fugāre to drive away

This "statement piece" does in fact drive me away.

  30. Love this necklace, but might be a little too big for me, however, I do LOVE your blog! Such a cute idea! I love J.Crew! Can't wait to read more!

  31. I like the color and idea of the crystals and chains but too big. Way too big. I'd feel like I was being consumed by by jewelry. That goes for a lot of the jewelry lately for me: beautiful stones in overwhelming proportions.

    ReplyDelete
  32. It's hideous and it looks uncomfortably heavy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I thought it was pretty at first but it seems kinda bulky. Unless it's stunning in person, I'll probably pass on this piece.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jen - I think that's a Fiber One commercial. It's hysterical.

The necklace...me no likey. I want to get into it from afar, but it's just not possible.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Like it (I am biased toward Wilma/Betty type necklaces) but I sure won't pay that much money for it.
