{Yey!} New arrivals are here!

As Lynn, Leigh, and others have pointed out in the "Love it or Leave it: the Whisper Lamé Tiered Skirt" post, J. Crew's New Arrivals are here.

You may have noticed that the J.Crew stores are already carrying the new items. I went to a J.Crew today (to return two of the three Dark Chambray Swing Skirts I bought) and saw several of the new arrivals on shelves and mannequins, ready to be sold!

The Domino jacquard cropped jacket (Item 94167) is not as nice in person as it is on-line. However, when it goes on sale (for significantly less) then it might definitely be "a buy". ;) The Salina patent-leather ballet flats (Item 95898) are actually very lovely in-person! Especially the flats in gray (although they don't seem to show that color as an option online, for now).

Of course, the best part about new arrivals is not just looking forward to what new and wonderful items J.Crew will be offering, but it is also that their sale section is going to be extra juicy in a couple of weeks (especially after this whole "final sale" blows over). :)

What items you are most looking forward to purchasing and which ones you are not going to? :)

  2. I like the Kayla shirt. The model is wearing a shirt under the Geranium top in the picture.

I saw the Market Tee's in the store. They feel nice.

The JCrew line is great visually but I'm not really loving any particular item(s) as I did a few years ago. Wait, I do so love my Slub-cotton ball-trim cami's. It's my go-to on a hot, humid day, sans bra in the right color. The shelf-bra and shirring do a good job hiding what I don't want shown. Which isn't much too see anyway!!

  3. i love the market t's...jcrew's slub cotton is my favorite :)

spring and summer is relatively boring compared to fall/winter...can't wait for that...

    ReplyDelete
  4. actually slub/ringspun...are they the same thing? either way, they're my favorite.

  5. I was in the store yesterday, and I picked up the July 2008 catalog. I'm not that excited, which is good for my wallet, but I went to the website a few minutes ago. Since I'm tall, why is the Kayla blouse the only Tall shirt offered? Why not at least 2 tall shirts, jackets, dresses or tall skirts? I just wonder why someone at J Crew decided that would be the one and the only one to offer. There's nothing wrong with it, and I understand they can add other shirts, but I wonder who made this decision and why.

  6. I am dying to get the rustic french terry pullover in sea salt that I am even thinking about paying full price.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Dave - I think the necklace is very classic. You can never really go wrong with a strand of pearls! However, I do not have any experience with J.Crew's pearls, so that's something to consider. The style itself is great as a gift, though. :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Like I said in the previous posting, I love, love, love the Kayla blouse. I may buy one at full price... although I hate paying almost $70 for sheer fabric!

Dave- The pearls are a good idea. They would please most all women, unlike other J.Crew jewelry (which takes the right person to like it).

    ReplyDelete
  9. Annon: 2:52pm These are a classic look and would be a beautiful gift. I think that $150 on pearls from J.Crew could be a bit on the high side, but she will have them forever. Hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think Kayla is a beautiful shirt. I have the cotton lawn skirt from last summer which I love. It doesn't seem to sheer on the model but she could also be wearing a cami. Has anyone seen it in store?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I haven't seen the Kayla blouse in the store, but I do think the model is wearing a shirt underneath. When you click on the different colors (when the shirt is not on the model) the shirt is very sheer. At that price, it should come with a matching tank to go underneath!

  12. I love jackets...especially J. Crew's, but I'm not really impressed with the New Arrivals. They're just...eh.

I kinda like the Matilda dress. Not crazy about how shiny it looks, but maybe in-person it looks different? The plum color looks pretty, and I like the waist tie with the rosette. I doubt the dress will look good on me though :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Lynn I agree, the skirt is lined so that is okay plus I only paid $19.99 for it but I love the style and cut of the Kayla. They should have done it in a cotton poplin

    ReplyDelete
  14. I will *definitely* be getting the pleated silk jersey top and the jersey bateau dress. I like the cotton Belle skirt too, but I want to see that IRL before I order.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I just received the swingy shirred pique dress that does not fit like I thought it would. The dress was not "final sale" when I bought them but now it is. Will I be able to exchange it at a J. Crew store since it wasn't final sale when I bought it?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sue.Bee - every month when I get the new catalogue I read it cover to cover with post it notes so I can flag the items I love with a heart. This catalogue I only "hearted" two items. The new collection has left much to be desired although the owen hobo is gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Cori: just bring your receipt from the shipment and it shouldn't be a problem to exchange in store. If you don't have that they might just give you a merch credit, but I'm sure that will come in handy for another purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  18. the kayla blouse is pretty but does look very sheer. and it looks like they're messing with the color geranium again, making it look more red than it really is. geranium (in other items) is very pink...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yogichicki- I totally agree... the Kayla would have been FABULOUS in a cotton poplin or maybe even oxford material!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi all! I think some of the pieces are cute, but don't see anything I would really consider paying full price for...except maybe the Metallic-leather Bow Belt ...I saw it in the store the other day, and really loved it...still think $50 is a little high on it, though. I also like the Cotton Taffeta Belle Skirt , but I would be leary of the length (after my experience with the Dark Chambray Skirt), but if it truly is 21", then that will be something I will be looking to pick up when it goes on sale. I also like the Silk Jersey Pleated Top , and might even consider paying full price on it, depending on what it looks like in person.

The Kayla blouse is really cute, but I think you are right in assuming it is sheer...probably like the sheerness of the Emily blouses alot of us recently purchased.

Dave: the pearls are really pretty...I personally would love to receive them as a gift. :)

ccbmum: I am with you on the slub and ringspun line...I love them! They are just so comfy and cute to wear! :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yogichicki-- I took advantage of the 20% PRIVATE sale last nite and broke down and purchased the Owen Bag---- the sales rep Bryan said it was BEAUTIFUL and only 60 were made--- so I am SO excited, and the tannery is the same one that does the Hermes Berkin bag.... Will let you know if it is as pretty in person as it is in the catalog!

    ReplyDelete
  22. funny thing about the metallic leather bow belt...i noticed it a while back in the girls crewcuts sale section and thought it was kind of cute...i guess they felt it was worth bringing it over to the women's line...

    ReplyDelete
  23. does anyone else feel that they could make some of these ribbon/straw/flower belts themselves (if you had some free time on your hands, of course)? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  24. ccbmum: I am taking my boss to a bead store here in Toronto so she can replicate the opera length necklace on the back cover of the catalogue. Who knows, belts could be next!

nicole r: keep me posted for sure, I am definitely jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi ccbmum:
I actually did copy their flower belts (Beaded-flower tie belt)and made a few myself. I absolutely love the them, but $68 is too much for me. So I got some silk flowers ($1.97 for 6, in three colors), ribbons, a few D rings. With a glue gun, I can finish making one within 3 mins. And I also put some crystal beats on the flower. I'm really happy with how they turn out. The best part is that I can afford having a few in different colors to match my dresses.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love the Kayla blouse-- but, ok, I got something similar like that from H&M and it was 19.90 (albeit in euros), but still. I think the material in darker colors is not that scandalous, unless I pull it away from my body underneath sunlight.

I rather like the Andie, but not for that price, and it seems too bulgy for a tote.

    ReplyDelete
  27. ccbmum: that is too funny about the metallic bow belt being in the Crewcuts Girls sale...now I AM glad I didn't get it at full price the other day. :) I just really think it would look cute with my Polka Dot Lana Top, but in the Silver and not Pale Gold, as it gives the top definition, as opposed to being a little boxy. Anyways...I have also contemplated making my own belts, and that is why I have never purchased a J.Crew belt at full price. After reading Crystal's post, I think I will give it a try...thanks Crystal! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. crystal and yogichicki: too funny! i have been scouting out various types of ribbon and flowers for the past few months...all i need now is a glue gun! :) $68 is definitely too much for those...

  29. I was at a Jcrew store yesterday and saw the new arrival items in person. I love the "Domino jacquard cropped jacket" and the "penelope ballet falt."

    http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod94642151&catId=cat304143
I really like all the Jcrew polka-dots design. Like Alexis, I also have the polka-dot San Telmo jacket. Now I want this domino jacket as well!
I also have one question for Alexis: I probably have about 6 pairs of Jcrew ballet flats. You said you have 20 pairs! Do you still wear all of them? How soon do you toss them when they start wearing out?

  30. Has anyone else noticed that J.Crew has changed their size charts.

  31. My mom disigns couture little girls clothes so she is crafty... a couple months back I had her make me the ribbon flower belt using a $5.00 vintage crystal pin.... There was no way I was spending $68.00 or waiting til June (it was March).... We made it for under $20.00! The raffia ones that they have are difficult because raffia is hard to work with.... I have given them as gifts and they are huge hits!

    ReplyDelete
  32. To Dave:
I own it and love it very much! Goes w/white tees and jeans, nice dresses, you name it. Pearls add such a nice touch to almost any garment.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I LOVE the Tuesday jacket. Are there any codes for %off that I can use if I go to the store tomorrow and order (6/20)? PRIVATE is expired, right?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous at 2:52 PM/ Dave: I do like this as a present. However, I am sure you could get better quality pearls at a lower price from a jeweler.

Rach & FabulousFloridaMommy: I am feeling like you both are, right now not loving any particular item to pay full price for. But give me enough time & a reduced price, and I can change my tune. ;)

CCbMum: I love the slub cotton too! :)

ST: I hear you- never understood why the offerings for Tall/Petite are so limited.

Yogichicki: The pullover is very pretty. :)

Lynn: I know what you mean- nice style but the fabric doesn't warrant the $70 pricetag necessarily.

Sue.Bee: The Matilda dress is also really nice- but I have a feeling it only works for those with perfect bodies.

Cori: You should have no issues returning the dress. If you do, don't hesitate to call their customer service. I find they are usually very helpful and can resolve this issues quickly.

Nicole R: congrats on the Owen bag and please let us all know how it looks in person!!! ;)

Hi Angela: I do love ballet flats! ;) Because I don't wear any flat for any extrenuous duration (for example, I don't wear only one pair for a month straight), I haven't tossed any away yet. They all look great and still very wearable. The only major complaint I have concerns the leather soles of the ballet flat. Those tend to get "worn out" quickly. However, I end up using a "safe step sole pad", which not only prevents me from slipping, but extends the life of the flats' soles.

  35. Quick question: Wasn't the Kate dress on sale, not so long ago, for like $19.99? Now it is in the "New Arrivals" section for its full price of $98!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Alexis:

They tend to do that. Put items on sale, then put them back at regular full-price. Not sure what the business reasoning behind that is though...sneakiness? ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sue.bee: They are sneaky! ;)

I still don't understand how the Kate dress is a "New Arrival" though. I mean, that dress has been available on their site for sometime now. I thought "new arrivals" were just for the new stuff. Do you think it was a glitch in their system that allowed for the dress to be in that section instead of the regular dress section?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hmm...maybe to them it's still considered "New"? I don't remember the original colors, but if those are new colors maybe that's all it needs to qualify under the New Arrivals category?

Or maybe they're just hoping non-regulars won't notice...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Alexis,
I commented on the Kate dress in your last post (Love it or leave it), and someone said they had new colors and that's why it was marked up. I don't know about that!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Alexis,

As someone already pointed out, the difference between the Kate dress for $98 in new arrivals section and the Kate dress for $19.99 in last week's sale list is the color. "DEEP PERSIMMON " and "NAVY" have replaced "BRIGHT FLAME" and "CABANA BLUE". I am so happy that I got both "BRIGHT FLAME" and "CABANA BLUE" kate dress at $19.99 plus 20% off each last week.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hi Sue.bee and Lynn! Thanks for responding back. You are both right! The original (with the same item number) was offered in Bright Flame and Cabana Blue and the "new" dress is now being offered in Navy and Deep Persimmon. I guess that is why the dress is in the "New Arrivals" section. Thanks for figuring it out. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi Anonymous at 8:21 PM: You and I posted the same time! Thanks for helping me figure it out. Also, good move getting both of those colors while it was the cheaper price! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Sneaky! I think that's cheating if you consider an item "new" just because it comes in different colors than before. But maybe it's a nice way to get out of having to come up with a real new design?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I had a moment also wondering why the Kate dress was there too.

I'm really contemplating the Belle skirt (97636). I might get in gray since I already have a couple of yellow skirts, and I'm not fond of the other two colors, just a bit too much for me. Gray seems like a color I can translate to fall as well.

I'm also thinking about the featherweight merino crystal cardigan (96033). I like the longer length on it.

Someone mentioned a change in the size charts. What changed?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I like the Quincy top, but I will not pay $98.00 for it. I am hoping this one goes down to $19.99 in a few weeks.

Has anyone seen this top in a store?

    ReplyDelete
  46. You probably shouldn't expect an almost $80 price drop in just a few weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Stephanie- I just looked at my comment and realized it could be taken rudely. I wasn't trying to be rude, just saying that if you have your heart set on it, you may not want to wait for it to drop down that low. I've found that things get marked down additionally a month or so after I buy them, but then they don't have the color/size I want.

Congrats on the wedding gown cape cod betty! Love the pockets!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I love the Flowy Jersey Bateau dress. I have been doing so well lately with sticking to sale items. It is so cute I may consider paying full price if it is as flattering on as it appears on the model in the catalog.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love the Tuesday trench too, and like the Featherweight merino crystal cardigan (96033), Jamie jacket(95244) and Regatta short (94255). I like JCrews prints on sweaters and skirts better than on the shorts.

  54. Well, I told all of you in an earlier post today that I was sure that I would look at jcrew.com and decide that there would be something that I MUST have even though, for the most part, I was not very impressed with the newest offerings. HOWEVER, I have been lusting after the Corossol Jeweled Sandals in the color Grain for some time now, which I feel are astronomically priced at $325, and I realized that I had almost that exact amount in merchandise cards from things I had returned so I just decided to "go for it". I'll let all of you know if they are as amazing and versatile as they appear to be in the catalog and online. :)

    jcrewjunkie

I would also like to thank everyone for their reviews on the polka dot san telmo jacket (received it today and LOVE LOVE LOVE it) and the Katie jacket (also received it today in ivory/black and LOVE LOVE LOVE it as well.

  56. cape cod betty: I was totally thinking today that I wished I was getting married again so I could buy this dress it is a stunner.

Rach: I have those shoes in my shopping bag, I think they are cute would work with jeans and skirts/dresses

  58. I went to the Jcrew store in San Diego today. I wasn't gonna get anything! I went in and saw the Baird McNutt Linen Georgia jacket in "flame"(93765) and couldn't help trying it on! Althought it was made with a skirt as a suit set, it looked really cute and the color really "popped" with a simple T-shirt and nice-washed dark denim. With the additional 25%off, I got it at $59.99! Can people leave their comments on this jacket?

    ________________

I just took a look at the sizing charts. The petites look the same, but I appear to have a dropped a size in the regular fit. Hmmm. Is it a case of the charts finally reflecting the reality of the random sizing? I've been complaining for a while now to anyone who would listen that my "correct" size according to the charts never fit.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous at 9:19pm: I LOVE the Talitha Patchwork Molly Dress, and would TOTALLY pay $100 for it...where did you find it for that price?

CapeCodBetty: That gown is GEORGEOUS....CONGRATULATIONS!!! :)

  62. I'm vacationing near a JCrew Factory store. Can anyone comment on the difference between the two? I don't remember if JCrew makes clothes esp. for the Factory stores or is everything last year's product. Thanks in advance!

  63. To all cardholders:
when is the rewards time? It's quarterly, so it should be about now, right?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi Laverte! Alexis actually had an entire post on this exact subject: J.Crew Factory Stores - Love or Hate ...hope this will help you! I live near Orlando, and we just actually had our first J.Crew Outlet open in May, but I have not been yet. I usually shop online or go to the J.Crew store at the mall, but I would be very interested to see what they have available there. :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I just wanted to say thanks for providing the free shipping code. I also bought the chambray swing skirt before I read your review of it, so I certainly hope it is bearable!

    I will be back :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. re: size chart: looks like everything has gotten a bit smaller, on paper. but, i've been buying the same sizes as always, and everything fits fine. in fact, i feel like the xs and s are a little bigger now, although the new measurements would entail that I go up a size.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Cape Cod Betty: Congrats on getting married and finding a dress. That is wonderful!!! :)

JCrewJunkie: First congrats on the sandals. They are beautiful! Also congrats on the polka dot san telmo and Katie jacket. I have both pieces as well, and love them too!!! :)

Chini: Interesting about the size change. I notice recently that I have been able to fit in size 4 JCrew pants with no issues (when I am normally a 6 in pants). I hope they won't change sizes. It is nice to order online knowing my size and not needing to try the item on first. :)

FabulousFloridaMommy: Thanks for posting the link on JCrew Factory Stores post for Laverte! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks FabulousFLMommy, that is what I was afraid of. With the way online is working (pulling items from seasons ago) I thought the factory store wasn't going to be too exciting. I'll let you all know after I go how the one in Destin is.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I LOVE the Lucinda gown and bought my wedding dress at JCrew years ago. It fit really well and needed one alteration, the bottom needed to be let down.
    Congratulations!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I notice the change in the size chart yesterday because I was trying to determine if the new 00 size would fit me in the corduroy pants in the new arrivals. If the new size chart reflects true size I really should be wearing petite bottoms, which explains why the favorite fit chinos I have in 0 regular don't fit me well.

  71. What does everyone think about the metallic brushstroke Antonia dress? I have it in my bag, and I'm hesitant to pull the trigger...

    ReplyDelete
  72. blumre: i too am glad the featherwieght merino v-neck is back!!

fyi for everyone - the Featherweight merino tunic which is now on final sale fits terribly...the raglan sleeves/shoulders do not fit on the shoulder and the sweater wants to stand up behind your neck. too bad, it's a lovely super 120s merino...

    ReplyDelete
  73. ccbmum: I looked at the sale for the t's this morning, but they must have all sold out already. :( Did you pick anymore up since they were on sale, or are you going to check with your store to see if they have been marked down? I am going to have to try them out after hearing your review and knowing how much you love the slub/ringspun line like I do. :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous at 10:07am: I personally like the J.Crew Metallic Linen Line of Clothing...it's not too "over the top" on the metallic part. I haven't seen this particular dress in person, but I think it looks pretty online...my guess would be that it actually looks better in person, too. This is the type of Final Sale item that I would call about returning IF I really did not like it when it came...due to the price, they would probably be reasonable in allowing you to return it (I would hope, but cannot say they definitely would). Anyways...I do like it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. fabulousfloridamommy: i didn't love any of the t's in the sale section this time (maybe that's why they're on sale ;)

i might pay full price for one of the new french market ringspun tee's though...i love those graphics. i've gotten them on sale in the past but i hate waiting around for them to be on sale and not have my size :0

i have the "le nid de coqs" one from last year and love it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hi Anonymous at 10:07,

I've seen the Antonia metallic brushstoke dress in person and think it's really nice. My mom, on the otherhand, thought the fabric was better suited for a sofa! Needless to say, I didn't try it on(but still like it). The print is very subtle, and the style is very nice. I actually love this dress in the printed linen(paisley).

    ReplyDelete
  77. fabulousfloridamommy: actually i did by the Hibiscus appliqué tee but not the yellow - it was in a pretty blue (sapphire/regal purple?) with a madras appliqué...it was from the store and wasn't online (wasn't on sale either :0). it's a nice softknit cotton.

    ReplyDelete
  78. once the jcrew final sale is over will the items remain in the regualar sale section or do they pull the items that were just added this week

    ReplyDelete
  79. laverte: I was at the factory store at sawgras mills in Florida in March and I enjoyed it. They do make designs that are just for the factory store often with patterns from previous seasons. For instance, I was dying to get my hands a belize print tunic last year and they had the print but on a different cut blouse. I got a really cute dress in a print from the previous season for like $29.99. I also got some staples like favourite t-shirts which were $10 each and burmuda shorts. It is great for those types of things. They don't carry bathers though which was sort of a bummer

    ReplyDelete
  80. To Anonymous 10:07 a.m.: I think the Metallic brushstroke Antonia dress is very pretty especially with the scoop back. Is the material stiff? Since the front shoulders are cut like a full back dress I would imagine it won't fall of the shoulders.

The model on the main page does this dress zero justice. I never looked at it as she scared me off from it! lol

    ReplyDelete
  81. To ccbmum: thanks for the info re the Featherweight merino tunic. As more of a internet shopper I love when people critique what they've purchased, good or bad. I love ringspun/slub (whatever) tops too. All those superthin featherweight tanks from last year come in handy under the thinner ringspun tops.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I hope the Jamie jacket (95244), with the self-tie closure, fits well! The shorter, boxy styles of this season do not look good on me.

Also, JCrew should publish the garment length like boden does. "Hits at hip" is okay but not always accurate enough for me. I've started requesting the length of the garment from JCrew before placing an order. Just my 2cents.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Well, the Corossol sandals came today (I ordered next day because I had hoped to wear them to an event my husband and I have to attend this evening). First of all they were as uncomfortable as the capri sandals are and they just weren't as gorgeous in IRL as they were in the catalog. THEREFORE, after reading all the positive reviews on the new French Market tees I am returning the sandals and ordering some of them for full price, but while they still have my size!! :) This will save lots of $$$ and make my husband happy as well!!

    jcrewjunkie :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. rach: you're welcome on the Featherweight merino tunic...i'm not really happy with it and will be trying the featherweight merino one instead...

rach and anonymous at 1:58 pm...i just bought two french market t's from the store - the one with the sardines (runs true to size) and the one with the oranges (runs small and is really thin cotton/poly but i still love it and bought the next size up in that one :)

  85. Rach: I totally agree that they should include the individual garments' measurements on the webpage. :)

JCrewJunkie: I am sorry to hear the Corossol sandals didn't work out. They look so pretty too. But for that price, you should get comfort included with style. :)

  87. ok, so i really wish that jcrew would come out with some non-neon reds! i'm sad to say that i returned the "geranium" katie sweater jacket...as much as i REALLY REALLY loved the style, the color turned more neon in different lights and just didn't work for me :( i'm still waiting for a great sweater jacket in a great style like the katie in a toned down red :( i had the same problem with the sophie peacoat sweater from winter in roasted pepper....

on the other hand, "deep persimmon" looks pretty in the sweaters and Georgia dress in catalog...it looks neon in the Featherweight merino crystal cardigan online though. it's getting impossible to tell what these colors are like unless you see them in person...sigh...

  89. Sorry...all the links getting posted are just sending you to the final sale...do a google search for the dress, and it should pull up the main page with the picture of the model, and the dress is not final sale on that page.

Thank you so much for the info. I was contemplating calling J crew and asking that, glad, I don't have too.:)I also purchased Dark Chambray skirt ( it disappeared from my cart last week, and was unavailable in any of the stores according to J crew who searched for it " from coastline to coastline"; only to become very available this week in many diff.sizes) and Frances blouse in Cherry Blossom print- I haven't received them though. After reading all reviews , it seems these are fine garments and I am looking forward to receiving them.
    Thanks again!

  91. I concur w/everyone who said that July catalog is disappointingly unexciting. I picked the copy from the store today, and liked only 2 items:
-Georgia dress ( item 96707) and
-Domino jackard pencil skirt ( item 93450).
Will beooking foward to new sales- Marocco catalog was delicious.:)

  92. To anonymous at who asked about Antonia Metallic print dress:
-I tried it in the store this week. Loved the material, did not like the shape. I am 5'5"and athletic build ( not skinny) and , honestly, it looked like I am wearing a potato sack.:) Moreover, it was impossible to zip/unzip. I am pretty flexible, so I managed to zip myself doing some major acrobatics; however, during unzipping, zipper stuck and associate had to cut me out of the dress. They also worn everyone, that metalic print will fade with time, so I am not really sure this dress is a good long term investment. I can see it working on someone really tall and thin, an even then I am noty sure where it can be worn. For hot summer weather it is way too heavy. It seems that every store has it in stock ( might not be selling too well), so if you can go to the store and try it on, that would be best.
BTW Montgomery Mall store in Bethesda offers additional 25% on sale merchandise adn they added tons of new items. Other stores might be doing the same.

  93. Slastena,

Do you didn't happen to see the metallic linen tunic on sale, did you? I love that top and am waiting for it to go on sale! Thanks!

  94. I tried the Antonia dress too and it was a bad fit for me -- 5'5", 120 lbs. The top of the dress was so wide and loose, it was flopping abound. Really unflattering and sack-like. I also found the printed linen to be stiff and scratchy. Not a good dress to be active in.

I actually picked up a bunch of different items:

Candace jacket in orange & navy: Such a great fit, really cute open or buttoned, feels great on -- have found some of the sweater jackets to be a bit bulky and stiff, not this one. Really fits like a sweater. Orange is a creamsicle color -- not universally flattering but bright and punchy.

Lana silk top in pewter: classic and pretty -- and cheap. Got it for 22.50. It runs fairly large. Am normall a 4-6 but needed a 2. Think it will transition well back into fall.

Lily cashmere sweaters in snow, light citron, and orange: Love these and they were a great price -- $48. I actually really like jcrew cashmere. I hand wash all my cashmere and have found that jcrew's hold up very well after repeated washing. Took them in a large althought a medium would probably been a bit fitted but okay.

the Amelia tank in almond: again, it runs big, needed a 2. Am disappointed with this one but stuck with it because of the dumb FS. the top is lined with a strip of some sort of organza-like fabric that is unfinished and therefore incredibly scratchy and itchy. you win some, you lose some.

Python print Lucia jacket: LOVE this item which was a total surprise. saw someone wearing it on the street and it looked so great, decided to try it. it's so comfy, the material is beautifully soft and the design is really flattering. Will also transition well into the fall. runs true to size and at $56, was definitely my fave purchase of the bunch.

Italian paper poplin raincoat: Boo for this one. the pink color was beautiful as was the fabric but the fit is not great. they tell you to order up a size because it runs small. i ordered an 8 and could not wear it with anything more than a tank comfortably which makes it a summer coat and there's just not much need for that in my life.

Prima stretch wool suits in navy pinstripe and charcoal: Also love these. In need of some steaming but fit great, so comfy (if you like unlined wool pants) and timeless and at $88 for the entire suit, such a great deal. I am not pear shaped but needed a 4 on top and 6 on the bottom.

Porta, Fiona, Chessy, and Tulip jackets: tried all of these and passed on all four. Couldn't decide if porta was an indoor or outdoor jacket, Fiona was a bit too stiff, Chessy had too much going on with the ruffle around the neck and the loud print, and the tulip's colors were really neon.

Mosaic metallic jacket: Am eagerly awaiting the arrival of this one. The style seems to be the same as the San Telmo but in that pretty metallic fabric. have been eyeing it for some time and am crossing figure that i like it as much IRL because it was also that dumb FS. hate the FS.

Airy cotton Marielle dress in navy: thumbs down on this -- the top was so tight, and smushed my chest into a strange and unflattering shape. the fabric is incredible though. which they'd make another dress in fabric -- airy is a great way to describe it.

printed beach tunic in fuschia: I love this so much, I've decided to pretend it's just a tunic, not a beach tunic. It's a waste to limit it to the beach or pool. really bright and pretty, light and airy, plan to wear over a tank and capris.

city fit capris in cherry blossom: favorite pants of the season. i took them in a 4, they were $30, and are so cute and comfy. I could fly cross-country in them they're that comfy. Love this print and found it easier to wear as a bottom than a top. It was a bit too much for me next to my face.

City-fit surplus chinos: ordered these in petites in graphite and white. have no idea how they are going to fit. I really like they're lightweight summer cotton shorts and am hoping these are equally nice. never know how to order petite sizes so we'll see -- I got them in a petite 8.

Fireball bracelets: love these and they're on sale now for $15 in the store.

To get back on topic -- I'm not too excited by the early fall stuff either. Nothing in the store really caught my eye and the color palette doesn't really seem much different than last year's.

  95. Anonymous at 8:01am...WOW!!! You scored some FABULOUS deals...congratulations! Thanks for the reviews on the items, too. I have been eyeing the Python Print Lucia Jacket, as well as the Italian matelassé Lucia jacket , but wasn't sure how they would fit/look in person. I will hold off on the Matelasse' until it comes down in price, but I am seriously considering the Python Print after your review. What are the colors like in person? Is the lighter color white or cream, and how "tawny" is the olive?

On the beach tunic...I COMPLETELY agree about wearing them as everyday tunics...really now, what is the difference between them and any other J.Crew normal "everyday" non-beach blouse? You pretty much have to wear a cami or tank under all of their blouses/shirts now anyways, so you might as well get "double duty" out of the beach tunics. ;)

I did see Linen tunics at both Baltimore Habor and Montgomery Mall stores (Bethesda, MD). Tried tunic on, thought it was cute , but could not figure where I would wear it, so I passed.

Great purchases! Seems that we are same size and build. Love Lana tanks ( got them in 2 as well, in pink and pewter), love Lily cashmere ( got it in XS in Fuchsia), bought Tuip in red ( not bright at all, and super cute w/shorts), as you are skippped Chessy, Porta - for the same reasons, but bought Fiona in blue patchwork month ago- did not wear it yet. I want Amelia tank, but my store did not carry it on sale. Love Poplin raincoat, which I got in 2 in pink; the rufled collar is just so adorable.
Want to try Lucia jackets, butagain, my stores did not have them. Love jewelry, got firball bracelets in several different colors.
Thank you for the details and tips, please, continue posting as it seems we have similar tastes and build.

  98. Like Slastena...my store doesn't carry the Lucia Jackets, either, and I would LOVE to be able to try one on. Now that I have seen your review I really want one, but they are Final Sale now, and I don't want to take the risk. The only size available in the main page for it (not final sale) is a 12, and I need a 4 or 6, which I WOULD order both and return the one that doesn't fit, but I can't now...hopefully they will still be available once the Final Sale is done. :)

  99. I think I would have liked the Fiona jacket in the madras much better because the materials is so much softer. They heavy canvas-type material in the solid version was just too stiff and heavy for the summer. The Lucia jacket is definitely an ivory background, not white. And to my eye, the print is more of a brown tinged with olive than the other way around. I'm probably going to wind up wearing it with jeans and brown accessories. Because it's ivory, I think it'll carry through the early fall. I tried a 2, 4, and 6. The 6 would have been okay if I'd moved the button over, making the jacket a bit more fitted. The 2 was okay but pulled under the arms a bit when I moved. The 4 was just right. It seems to keep replenishing in the sale section so I hope you find it when this FS nonsense is done. I find these reviews so helpful and look forward to reading about your future finds too.

  100. ccbmum: look what I found in the Crewcuts Girls Sale Section: Sparkle metallic-leather bow belt ...you were right! It's the exact version of the Women's belt, but in little girl sizes!

  101. Sorry this is off topic, but does anyone have any thoughts on the Ballerina dresses in silk? I have been eyeing them since fall, but unfortunately never have been able to try one on, so I don't know if it's an attractive fit.

  102. Hi La Belle Helene: I haven't tried on the Silk taffeta ballerina dress, but I do think it is super pretty. Hopefully someone else has and can let us all know how it looks. :)

  103. Anonymous who bought the Corossol sandals, if you are still reading this and still want a pair of jeweled sandals, you might want to check out Charles David's Starlite sandals as an alternative. They are at Zappos, Nordstrom, etc. I have the heeled version in gold, and they also have a flat version (as well as other colors). The sandals are absolutely gorgeous, high quality and I find them to be comfortable. They're also a lot cheaper than the Jcrew sandals -- I think I got mine for less thaan $150.
