J.Crew just sent me an email about their Crewcuts with an offer for free shipping on orders of $100+ with promo code CRITTERS. This offer expires 6/9/08.
I have a question for all of you J.Crew experts: is a J.Crew size 2 in pants equal to an Express size 2? Thanks for all of your help. I love this blog!
I would say that Express runs slightly smaller than J Crew, so if you are sort of between a 2 and a 0 at Express, I would get a 0 at J Crew, but if you're more of a middle to large 2, I would get a 2 at J Crew
Speaking out of experience with Express jeans and J.Crew chino pants (if the two are comparable at all), I'm always a size 4 in Express since they changed the sizing a few years ago (I used to be a size 6 there), and in J.Crew chinos I'm a size 2 and in J.Crew trousers, I'm a size 4. So really, I feel like it kind of varies. Then again, like anonymous mentioned, Express bottoms tend to be more figure-hugging than J.Crew bottoms.
There are more 100+ free shipping as of late. Do you think maybe J.Crew heard the cry for lower free shipping minimums?
I stumbled across website that seems to show upcoming J crew and Madewell fall lines- http://www.daymion.com/index.php#mi=2&pt=1&pi=10000&s=1&p=3&a=0&at=0 I know, many might be curious to see what's to come. What do you all think?
Anonymous at 1:06PM: I have a "feeling" that another Percent off sale will occur this week. But I don't know for sure.
Slastena: Thansk! That is a cool website.
For those who might not know, the website is a modeling website. If you look under "portfolios" and then "advertising/commercial" you can see some of the images that clearly have been or will be in J.Crew/Madewell catalogs.
Yes, I like $100 coupons much better than the $150+ but I am still hoping for $50--75 ones.....It would even be nicer to get flat rate shipping....Then I wouldn't be putting unwanted items in my shopping cart just to meet the minimum......
Since the coupon is CRITTERS...I was wondering are there any other critter fans like me...I just love the way JCrew uses them on all kinds of items. I would love to see this sweater in my size...not just the Crewcuts line...item #91173 Ruffled critter cardi.
slastena, I think the clothes on that site were from last summer's line. I distinctly remember the long patchwork skirt, the long red Tallulah (I think that was the name) dress & the scarf that model is wearing (I have it), and even the large metallic critter tee. The photos are gorgeous though, I looked through his entire site.
Marisa- I agree, I just figured out myself that some of them are older items, but the black-orange dress and red jacket/jeans combo are from the upcoming fall collection.
Fall 08? Red jacket looked really cute at first glance....I like the cuff and pocket trim...but what is the fluffy trim doing near the top? right above? by? the bustline...too much...some designer got too carried away for me!

ReplyDeleteI haven't been to an Express in years. So I would like to help, but I can't. :( But hopefully someone else can.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for the nice comment Lisa! :)

ReplyDeleteRemember Express is a bit more modern/tight cut also when deciding.

Amy: I thought the same thing too about the coupon codes! Maybe someone at J.Crew corporate took notice of this blog! :)

ReplyDeleteSo what's the deal with Madewell? Is it a female only store, why the need for another brand?
ReplyDeleteHi Jagjag2: I do like the critters as logos. I think they are super cute.
ReplyDeleteHi Abijah: I am not sure if you saw, but there is a post on Madwell's here:
Madewell's: J.Crew's Sister Store
Madewell is coming online (finally)!
