So the additional 20% off sale is almost over. (It ends tonight.) I was happy to see its arrival (and sad to see it leave soon).
I was able to take advantage of both the reduced prices and the discount. Needless to say I bought myself several items that I am now waiting anxiously (but in a good way) for.
How did you all fair this time around in the sale? Were you able to snag any sweet deals? Or did you get frustrated that the items you wanted (in your size/color) weren't available (or worse- removed from your shopping cart before you had time to buy it)? Let us know how you made out! :)
hey alexis - just wanted to let you know that i received an email from jcrew announcing an additional 25% sale in-store only. didn't give an expiration date - just a "subject to change" blurb at the bottom of the email.
ReplyDeletethanks! :)
No new purchases this time around, except the purchase on Monday that was credited for the 20% off sale. I really want a blue dot emily blouse so if anyone sees one in a size 2/4 please let me know!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I got some sweet deals this time around because of the free shipping codes I was able to take advantage of.
ReplyDeleteI was able to get the Polka-Dot Lana Top in Light Pewter, Size 0. I'm a little nervous about it being too big (I'm a 32B and 5'3"), but if it's a little too wide I'll just get it altered. I felt like this was a steal at $29.99 marked down from $88.
I was also able to get the Joelle Blouse in Gray Mist in size 0. I am more optimistic on how this will fit and I'm really excited to get it because I love the Joelle Cami that I already have. I thought this was a good deal at 20% off $39.99.
I also got the Marina-stripe dress in 0, marked down to $69.99. I'm really excited to get this dress because it's a great day dress for weekends and appropriate for work with a cardigan. I think this will fit properly, and if it's longer than knee length, I'll probably get it hemmed because skirts/dresses that go too far below the knee on me make me look shorter.
I also got the 3" stretch chino short in navy. I know the 0 will fit perfect because I already got this short in light pewter and it's my favorite J Crew short.
And I'm most excited to get the Katie sweater jacket in Navy, XS. I think it looks adorable, and although I'm worried it might be a bit big on me, I think it's ok because it's really a winter item anyway. I thought this was a steal at 20% of $39.99
Needless today I can't wait for all these items to come in off the waitlist!
I'm having mix feelings with this sale! Got some great stuff like Solid Katie sweater and the Slub Cotton wrap front tank, but what I really wanted was the Polka-dot Lana top has now been put on a waitlist. I have a bad feeling that it's out of stock =(
ReplyDeleteI do have a question about the Slub Cotton Wrap Front Tank. In the description is said the fabric is a "soft ringspun cotton with an addictive texture and a light, cool handfeel" Does anyone know if this is the same fabric or texture as the Heathered V-neck Slub Tee, because I LOVE LOVE that t-shirt.
Alex, not sure if this was discuss or asked before, but do how we can add links on the comment box with HTML codes? Thanks!
Stephanie, you sound like the same JCrew size as I am. I bought the striped Katie sweater for my mom a few month's back as a Mother's Day gift and I got her both the XS and S because I wasn't sure of the sizing. I tried on the XS and it's not big at all, so I think you will be fine with the XS. I also got that jacket as well in an XS. I am so jealous that you got the Polka Dot Lana Top in Pewter! I wanted that color but had to get the pink one instead.
ReplyDeleteAlexis, I just noticed I spelled your name wrong. So sorry!
ReplyDeleteI was able to get a swim suit at 20% off (antibles enamel link halter/bikini - never seen it before, hope it's cute) and a super cheap beach tote. And thanks to the free shipping I got the glamour bikini top and bottoms I've wanted since last year, but I'm worried the top won't fit - probably should have gone with the D cup instead. I'm pretty "busty" but only a size 34 around, so I'm concerned it won't be appropriate for an upcoming family vacation :(
ReplyDeleteohs nos! the jcrew website is not loading for me :o(
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that giving out size information before you even get the item isn't very helpful. It's not like you can advise someone to size up or size down.
ReplyDeleteIt comes off as just trying to brag about being skinny when you say you're nervous about a size 0 being too wide.
I have the orange Candace jacket on the way - which I'm very excited about as a previous poster said it was a very nice orange! Also the jeweled posy capri sandals and the jelly flats in red... I hope they are not running too big since they only have whole sizes & I had to size up... and some hair accessories... looking forward to the box :o)
ReplyDeleteIt sounded to me like Stephanie was worried about the size 0 tank being too small in the bust -- not necessarily something we ladies generally brag about! I didn't take it as bragging about being skinny. As we all know, JCrew sizing can be iffy and sometimes a size in one garmet will fit differently than the same size in another garmet. I don't know that the post is giving out sizing information so much as just sharing recent purchases and maybe inviting someone else who has bought the same item to comment on the size. I like that we can all share information as well as just comment on things we bought or are thinking of buying. No offense meant to anonymous or anyone else here -- I just read Stephanie's post differently than anonymous did. I think it's good to encourage comments of all kinds and I hate to see people criticized for posting. It is hard to write a post exactly as you mean it to sound sometimes. I think Alexis has a great blog and I hope we can all enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteShoppinginseattle please do share your experience with the jelly flats when you get them! I wanted to order but they only went to size 10 (no bragging here LOL) and I was worried that they may be too small but I love them.
ReplyDeleterosieposie, I defitney agree with your point of view about the comments Anonymous 2:51PM made.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I love shopping at JCrew is the variety of sizes it has. From petite to tall, to size 16 and up, and even shoe sizes from 5 to 12, I believe JCrew really has something to offer for everyone. Everyone has sizing and fit issues and it's good to know Alexis has set up a blog where I can ask questions about my Jcrew items. I never saw Stephanie's comment as bragging in anyway. I saw it as a JCrew fan who needed some advice from other JCrew fans and where better than to come here!
Franko- I did not get that email so thanks for letting me and everyone else know about that! 25% off in stores is great! :)
ReplyDeleteMarisa- But you got credit! That is still a good deal. :)
Stephanie- Congrats all around! I am jealous with some of the things you were able to get. :) Let us know how Polka Dot Lana Top works out.
Friedwontons- I have a feeling you will get the top. They have been replenishing the sale stock quite well recently. So I have hope that you will have your top (and soon!) :) Also no worries on misspelling my name. If you read my posts, my grammar is all over the place.
As for linking: How to link with HTML
KP: The bikini sounds awesome! And I am also completely jealous you are "busty". You won't get much sympathy from me (a 34B gal). ;)
Anonymous at 2:51- I don't think she was bragging about her size. But if I was a size 0 I personally would be so thrilled that I would tell every person I met. ;)
Shoppinginseattle- Sounds like you made out well. As for the jelly flats, I have them too. I get compliments on them all the time. I do suggest that you by for $7 at Target the Dr. Scholls for her comfort insole with clear massaging gel. The jelly flats have no support unfortunately.
Rosieposie- couldn't have said it better myself. You rock! :)
Well first I must say I love, love, love your blog. Just discovered it about two weeks ago when I was on the hunt for a free shipping coupon. It was a link from another website. I consider it a find...I have stored it in my favorites tab...and come here before I go to J.Crew.com.
ReplyDeleteSo I sure did buy a bunch of stuff...three different shipments on their way...all at no shipping costs. Here is my list:
Irish linen skirt in Pale Almond
Belted crinkle swing skirt in Poppy
Metallic-stripe washed favorite tank in White
Solid washed favorite tank in Chocolate
Slub silk Zoey tank in Golden Moss
Candace jacket in Sweet Orange
Second Shipment:
Lilah dress in Soft Fushia
Polka-dot Lana top in Spiced Mustard
Metallic jacquard Zoey dress in Metallic Gold
Baird McNutt linen Georgia jacket in Bright Yellow
Lucaya fabric espadrilles in Paisley Moss
City-fit solid Addison trouser in Tawny Olive
Pepper suede flats in Bistro Orange
Alessandra patent peep-toe flats in Bright Yellow
Third Shipment(This Morning):
Bahia-print silk shirtdress in Botanical Green
Taffeta rugby skirt in Sour Lemon
Wow....yeah I definitely took advantage of the opportunity. Most likely some of it will go back....but I love to try things on a home...look at what I already have...think about how I will wear it and return it if I need to.
And with the free ship codes there is no reason not to....I just return to a retail store here in NYC.
The only thing is I am a teacher and would have loved to get the extra 15% off...I think I am going to call and ask for sympathy...they are usually great on the customer service end of things.
Everyone keep sharing your experiences....we are certainly creating a fantastic community here.
Assata
Assata: The main word that best describes what I feel after reading your entry is: jealous! ;) You got some major great stuff! So completely jealous of you!!!
ReplyDeleteI got the Pepper suede flats in Bistro Orange too! If you don't mind please let us know how the pieces work for you, especially the Taffeta rugby skirt in Sour lemon. I thought that the skirt looked so lovely in the catalog, but was wondering if it would look as lovely in-person.
I didn't purchase anything online because I knew I was going to my local J.Crew today...I really got some WONDERFUL deals, too! Like Franco said, they were having an additional 25% off, PLUS I was able to use the 15% Father's Day Coupon on my ENTIRE purchase, not just the menswear...here is what I got:
ReplyDelete2 Pair Men's Boxers: $4.45 each
Pink and Green Critter Flip Flops:$3.18
Pink Striped Emily Blouse: $12.74
Polka Dot Lana Top in Bright Pink:$ 19.12
I would have gotten several of the Emily Blouses, but this was the only one in my size. I'm also thinking I should have gotten the Lana Top in Pewter, as it will transition well into Fall/Winter when worn with Black, but the Bright Pink is really pretty for Summer...especially here in Florida when Summer seems to be almost year round.
Stephanie: I also purchased the Lana Top in size 0, and I am 5'4"-34B/C...I tried on the 2 first, and it would have worked as well (had there not been the 0), since the fit is supposed to be a little fuller, so I think the 0 will probably work for you.:)
FriedWontons: the Bright Pink in the Lana Top is really pretty in person...bright but not neon bright. Also, I tried on the Slub Cotton Wrap Tank and LOVED it!!! I actually almost got it in the pink instead of the Lana Top, but knew that I was getting a better deal with the Lana Top, so opted for it, instead. The Slub Cotton Wrap Tank is the same material as the V-Neck Slub Tee, only more substantial...it really is dreamy to wear...I think you will be pleased when you get it. :)
Martha in Virginia: I looked for the Luau bag, but it wasn't available in my store, either...only just the Sand like online.
I didn't have to ask for any price matches to online, as everything was the same sale price, but with an additional 25% off, instead of the 20% off.
Alexis: I remember you mentioning that you also have a Phoebe blouse, but the fuller fit sometimes makes it hard to wear...I sometimes wear mine belted around the waist with a skinny belt or long scarf, so that my waist is defined instead of hidden. I have found this to work with the Lana Top I just purchased, as well.
Alexis:
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I get everything I will let everyone know!
Assata
FabulousFloridaMommy: I don't know where to begin. What fabulous deals you secured yourself!!! :)
ReplyDeletePolka Dot Lana Top in Bright Pink for less than $20 is a steal! :)
Also thanks for the tip on Phoebe blouse. I will definitely try a belt around the waist the next time I wear it!
Sorry if this is a repost but my original one didn’t show up for some reason.
ReplyDeleteAlexis – if you can please do a product review about the Pepper suede flats, that would be great! I’m so jealous that you got them AND in orange! That was the color I wanted but they completely ran out of my size :(
fabulousfloridamommy - I'm glad to hear about the Lana top! Can't wait for it to come :)
ReplyDeleteFranko- I ordered the Pepper suede flats yesterday, so I will probably get them next Wednesday. I will definitely make sure to review them once I get them. :)
ReplyDeleteThe flats look really great online so I hope they will also look great in person. I couldn't believe how much I liked the bistro orange- I just had to get it.
Franko, I have to also mention that I notice the supply of that particular flat has been replenished quite a bit in the past few weeks. Chances are you could still get your size/color. So you might still be able to get it after all. :)
Hi Alexis! I was REALLY THRILLED with the deals I got...especially the Lana Top...that's why I opted to get it instead of the Slub Wrap Tank...would liked to have gotten more, but feel I showed great restraint, since afterall, it is Father's Day and NOT Mother's Day! ;) Plus my husband doesn't consider clothing to be good gift giving (totally OPPOSITE from me...I LOVE clothing as gifts), so I left with just the few items I listed previously.
ReplyDeleteFriedwontons: I was thinking of the Ringspun Cotton Femme Top for my comparison to the Slub Cotton Wrap Tank...I'm not sure about the feel of the V-neck tee...thinking it's similar to the Femme Top...either way I think you will really like the feel of the tank. :)
FabulousFloridaMommy - I am so jealous! Lana top for $20 less!!! I wish my JCrew had those amazing deals. Thank you for your help about the Slub Cotton Wrap Front Tank. I saw it in person when I was in the store and it looks great! Can't wait wear it when my shipment comes. You are correct about the feel of the Slub Cotton Wrap compare to the V-Neck Slub Tee. The feel of both shirts are very similiar except the V-Neck Slub Tee feels lighter and thinner. Either way I'm really loving JCrew's whole slub ringspun cotton slub tops.
ReplyDeleteFabulousFloridaMommy- You are too funny talking about "its Father's Day after all" !!! I am with you, I like clothes as gifts. :) You did a great job buying at those prices.

As you can see, I am big on jewelry. I do wear it a lot. Big disappointment with shipment 2: I woke up really early to get a Chambray skirt on that day, and hooray, it was available in 2,4,6.. I am normally 2, but after reading the blog, decided to get it in 6 as was suggested. Paid for it ( showed in-stock), and after payment went through, it showed U/A. I called and they confirmed it's not available in any size except 14. I asked to do search in stores. They just got back to me today that it was not available anywhere. Huge disappointment!!!
Looks like I'm a little late in commenting, but here's what I ended up getting from the sale:
ReplyDeleteFavorite fit everyday chino in khaki (#81391)... good deal at $32 and very versatile. My current casual khaki pants are too short, so I jumped at these!
Solid twist front padded bandeau and bikini bottom in crisp aqua (#95226 and #65967)... I'm excited about this because I love J.Crew bandeau bathing suit tops! Especially because they don't leave those trashy tan lines from straps.
Solid Katie sweater jacket (#92958) in navy... I normally wear a small top (and sometimes a medium in t-shirts) but I took a chance and got an XS in this. It looks fairly loose-fitting, so I hope it works!
Marlin-critter trunks for my fiance (#93241)
Slastena- First, love the items that you ordered. Completely in awe about how much you scored! Well done. :)
ReplyDeleteSecond, that sucks about the Chambray skirt. On a bright note, the sales in the past few mornings have shown the skirt available in many sizes. I am also sure there will be lots of returns from people like me and FabulousFloridaMommy, who bought three and are returning two. (I am definitely returning my size 6.) :) Hopefully you will get the one you want in the size you like. :)
Lynn- You are never "a little late". We always welcome comments. I love the bandeau bathing suit tops too! I think they are so simple and elegant at the same time. I also got the solid katie sweater in navy! Let us know how you like the sweater! :)

Oops! Forgot about this little treasure:
ReplyDeleteKingston Suede Driving Mocs 39.99!
-McShoppy :)
I like to take advantage of their 20% sales (and the FS codes of course) to buy suits and the occasional flats. This time I bought the luxe cotton blazer and pants in navy. I'm addicted to JCrew suits (I'm beginning to prefer JCrew over BR for suiting). I just discovered your blog, and I'm in love (with your blog and the codes).
ReplyDeleteThanks Anonymous 7:42/McShoppy PM for the nice words about the blog and the links! :)
ReplyDeleteEpsy- I totally like J.Crew suiting more than any other retail store too. There is something about the quality and fit that works very well for me. :)
