Additional "25% off" Sale in J.Crew Stores {yey!}

A big "thank you!" goes to Franko who let us know in the "Summer Sale with additional 20% off ends today!" post that J.Crew is offering an "additional 25% off" sale items in their brick and mortar stores.

Unfortunately, it is not clear how long the additional 25% off sale will last... but that is still quite a deal! :)

Moreover, "thanks!" to FabulousFloridaMommy who confirmed that her local J.Crew is having the additional 25% off as well. In the "J.Crew's gift for Dad (in-stores only)" post, FabulousFloridaMommy also alerted us to the possibility that some of the sale items might now be "final sale" (which means you can't return the items once you purchase them), so keep an eye out for that.

So chances are, your local J.Crew is having a similar sale. (You may want to call your local store to confirm this, beforehand.) I thought this was worth mentioning in its own post, just in case you were thinking about stopping at a J.Crew this weekend... ;)

Please, let us know if your local J.Crew is having an awesome sale! Also please let us know if the sale at your local J.Crew is a "final sale." Any "heads up" would be greatly appreciated! :)

  1. I did call out to my store earlier to ask how long the sale will last (thinking I want to go back for the Pewter Lana Top and the Slub Cotton Wrap Tank), and the manager said they haven't been told yet, but she thinks it should at least last through the weekend.

The items that are marked an additional 25% are not final sale, but I did notice areas with sale merchandise that had signs that said Final Sale by them. I think I overheard her tell the other customer (I was looking at the headbands by the cash register) that during these "additional % off sales", that all purchases are able to be returned...even the normal final sale items, BUT I'M NOT 100% SURE, SO PLEASE BE SURE TO ASK if you plan to purchase one of them. :)

BTW...if you are considering flip flops (sorry, I live in Florida and they are a staple of any wardrobe here)...then be sure to look in the buckets by the accessories table. That's where I found mine marked down to $4.99, which I ended up getting for $3.18 after all the extra discounts.

  2. Has anyone had a bad experience at a JCrew store? The last time I was in one (Westfield Mall, San Francisco) the sales girl was so incredibly rude I ended up walking out. She was so intent on hanging up clothes from the fitting room that she bumped into me/cut me off 3 seperate times! She would push me right out of the way of the clothes I was looking at to hang something up, and never once acknowledged me/said "excuse me"...what the hell? Sure didn't make me want to buy anything.

  3. I live in the Philadelphia area and just stopped by my local JCrew store and was sad to see that there was no additional 25% for the sale items. =(

  4. I got my Cady dress today and I look fabulous in it! I can't wait to wear it to dinner tomorrow night. The Jackie cardigan pairs perfectly too.

I still can't decide on the shoes. I'm leaning towards sandals.

  5. Hi FabulousFloridaMommy- thanks for the update. I went ahead and corrected the post to reflect that only some of the items might be "final sale". :) Also, you got a bargain with those flip flops. Great job! :)

Anonymous at 7:40 PM- I definitely have met one or two sales associates I did not care for (read as: severely disliked). But in general, J.Crew has some of the best employees working for them (both in stores and over the phone).

Friedwontons- I am bummed out that Phili didn't have the extra discount. But thanks for letting us know that the additional discount isn't "across the board" in terms of stores. I went ahead and updated the post with that information. Thanks again!

Antigone- I think your outfit sounds perfect, including the sandals. Love it! :)

  6. Just called my store in Bethesda, Maryland- they do have 25% off and items ARE final sale. They could not tell exactly for how long they are going to have the sale though ( I guess HQs keep it a big big secret from everyone:). Will check the selection tomorrow. Probably, going to be very crowded in there. Service varies- sometimes they are very nice, some other times not so nice. As I am a bargain shopper like a majority of people on this blog, I get a feeling I am being snobbed for browsing sales rack. They smartly positioned all the new clothes up front, and sales way back behind mens section. So if they see someone heading straigh to the back, they know I am not " a real thing.":) I occasionally buy full price items ( I posted peviously on beautiful glimmer dot linen shorts)w/10% student discount, but 95% of J crew shopping is definitely sales. While I can justify paying full price for quality and brand, I just don't have the wealth to afford it at full price at the quantities I am buying now. I spend b/w $750-1000 per month on J crew.:)

Just a quick funny episode related to J crew store service. Last week I stopped at a different J crew store on my way from school ( I have never been there before). Turned out to be a pretty large store in upscale area with good selection of sale items. I had a blast: I got Slub-Zoey tank , Alexis dress, summer hat, summer straw tote,Joelle blouse in Blue and couple of tanks. With handful of merchandize I headed to the register and saw a big glass jar full of jewelry. Really liked the bead and crystal bracelets at $19, the only problem that yellow ones were all the way at the bottom and I could not reach them. The clerk saw me trying to fish them out but pretended to look elsewhere. After she rung everything up, I pushed the jar towards her and said nicely: I would like that one , please. She was not pleased at all. She humphed, but got the bracelet out ( she had to empty the jar to get to the bottom; I know, a nuisance, but I definitely could not do THAT). Afterwards, she shoved the bag towards me and turned away pretending she was super busy.

So, I guess they do judge customers by the looks ( I wore scrubs on the way from school)and by the merchandise we buy. And she was a manager.:)
I don't let things like that bother me or preclude me from buying a J crew. At the end, I got what I wanted. I just smiled and walked away.
Any similar experiences when you bargain shop?

PS. Alexis, I do not post often, but I do read your blog SEVERAL times a day.:)

  7. I just got a postcard in the mail today advertising JCrew's Summer Sale.

Just a plain old postcard with a pretty border. Disappointing. I was hoping it'd say something more like... "Thanks for being a J. Crew cardmember. In appreciation, please bring this card in for an extra 25% off your entire purchase during our ongoing summer sale."

I know, I like to dream big :D
    slastena:
what a funny story. can't say i've experienced that, but i have been ignored by the store employees before. i think i prefer talking to customer service over the phone than going into the store!

  8. Sue. Bee:
I got the card too. I was perplexed just as you are. Flipped it over few times , thought may be I am missing a small print someplace.:) What a waste of resources. Whoever came with that idea! Reminds me one of those emails: Shop fast or else...:)

  9. I went to my local JCREW tonight. For sale items, there are additional 25% off with wen's clothes and lady's accessories but not for lady's clothes. I bought 2 men's T-shirts picked from the sale section. And the clerk did not bother to ring my 15% printout for Dad's day. She just said I can either take the 25% or 15% but not both. The store I went to is in Southpoint Mall, Durham, NC. So I ended up with only 25% off.

  10. Hi, the J crew shop at Carmel-by-the-sea CA offered additional 25% off for all accessories (including shoses, jewelries, and bags) two weeks ago before current 25% additional sales. Also, I found posy-capri sandals at $69.99 (original $118) in APRIL before J.Crew online reduced prices. The shop master told me that they offered sales when they have extra inventories. Hope everyone can find exciting deals at local stores!

  11. I also find another free shipping code: IJN-160. Offer is good util Saturday July 5th (minimum $100 or more). Enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hey Alexis...NJN-160 for 100+ still worked on a "trial checkout" this morning 6/14/08. :)

  13. So many comments that I can't wait to respond too!

But quickly, I want to thank Naomi & FabulousFloridaMommy about the coupon code. I am going to update the blog with that info right now! :)

  14. Slastena- I am so like you! :) I go straight to the back of the store for the sales. So I know exactly the "look" you describe from sales associates who recognize I am a "sale shopper".

I also think you are right, they do judge a bit their customers. I always try to dress the part to get the best service (it is awful, but true).

And good for you getting the jewelry piece you wanted! ;o)

Also, thanks for reading & participating with the blog! I am having a great time learning from everyone! :)

Sue.bee & Slastena- A postcard about a sale and nothing else... Especially to get it on the last day of the "additional 20% off" sale! I might be more understanding if they sent it the day before the sale (announcing an additional percent off) but not just that there is a sale going on. If they can spend money on postcards, then maybe they can bring back free shipping with no minimums. :)

Anonymous at 11:11 PM: Although I am super excited you were able to find some great deals, I am a little upset they wouldn't honor the 15% off Father's Day coupon. I think you they should have gotten the additional discount and you ended up with a sales associate who didn't know that you could have that applied to sales. I hate when that happens.

I would call customer service at J.Crew and let them know what happen with your order. (I did that once, when a store wouldn't honor both the 25% off and my student discount. I came home and called customer service to explain. A couple of days later I got a $20 gift card and a handwritten apology from that store's manager! Great customer service.)

Naomi- That is so great to get the sandals at that price! If it wasn't for the fact that your store is a little too "out of the way" for me, I would be there bright and early this morning scoping out some deals! :)

  15. The Towson, MD store is having 25% off too. Just before processing the transaction the sales person said the flip flops were final sale. By the way, I really appreciate this blog! Currently I do not have time to post but it's nice to see there are others like me watching the website, disappearing shopping bag items, noticing the links to old merchandise, etc. "Smiley"

  16. Thanks Anonymous at 9:25 AM for the nice comment about the blog. Quick question, was the "final sale" just for accessories or all sale items? Thanks! :)

  17. Hi Alexis,
Thanks for your suggestion of calling JCREW custom service. I did make the call and they said the store should honor me this 15% off coupon for my last night purchases. And they will credit the difference back to my credit card.
By the way, my local store did tell all sale items with additional 25% off are final sale.
I love you blog too. Even I had only commented few times, I visit here everyday.

  18. I got the City Fit Buttery Twill Trouser
at J.Crew in Short Hills for $30!!

Since I paid full price for the 1st pair of these that I bought last month, I feel a little bit redeemed. They had them in every color and size at Short Hills.

  19. Anonymous at 11:05PM- I am thrilled to hear that you called J.Crew and you got the credit (you deserved) back! That is really wonderful. :) Thanks for letting me know that it worked out.

Ali: Jealous that you got those pants for that price. You inspired me to go to my JCrew today!

  20. Wrap up of my brick and mortar store shopping. Got
    Playa madras shorts
for $23, also surprisingly Solid tulip jacket in Red for $67- was debating whether I should get the Tulip or Chessy (both were available in my size). Tulip won over instanteneously. Chessy was to boxy and airy for my liking ,I liked the solid construction of Tulip. I would pair it with my Glitter dot shorts and red tank.
The best deal of all was Polka-dot rosette dress in Spice mustard, which still shows as full-price item on-line, but was available in my store for $99 and eligible for 25% off. What a deal at $75! I wore it the same night to a B-day party and got tons of compliments. Forewarning: it runs narrow. I am usually 2 and 4 in dresses, but this dress was so form fitting, I barely squeezed into 6.
And the last item that I got on this incredible sale was a Lana top in Pewter for $23. Associate was very nice and helpful for a change.

  21. Slastena:

Oh, wow! Awesome buys. The polka-dot dress is adorable! I love the little rosette. I can see why you'd get so many compliments on it :)

  22. Slastena: Sounds like you did pretty well for yourself! :) Also, I saw the Polka-dot rosette dress in person and it is beautiful!

  23. Just wanted to mention quickly that I went to two of my local J.Crew stores. One store had the "additional 25% off sale items" for Crewcuts only. The other store had the "additional 25% off sale items" for all sale items, but they were "final sale".

I asked the sales associate why their stores varied in promotion and got an answer that "it depends on how the store is doing and whether or not they are meeting their quota".

  24. The Towson, MD store must be doing really well because I didn't see the selection of items on sale other people have seen in their stores. There used to be a JCrew at Christiana Mall in DE. They had great sale deals too (I used to drive an hour to shop there) and the store eventually closed!

Alexis-When I was shopping the other night I did not find out which sale items were final sale. I had someone with me and had to get in and get out rather quickly! "Smiley"

  25. Hi Anonymous at 6:53am: Maybe you were lucky in that your store didn't have any final sale items. :)

In the store that I went to that was "final sale" they had little signs that had very tiny font size reading that it was "final sale."
