This post (of weekly posts) is for individual members who want to swap/sell/share
among
yourselves. This post is where you can
mention your items and
outside listing/ auction site (like eBay
and eCrater & the
corresponding user ID).
Please note: this posting is not for resellers, retailers or businesses. If
you are a reseller, retailer,
or a business, your comment gets
automatically deleted & you will get
publicly called out on it. :( So
instead of this, simply do not post in
the Weekly Exchanges. Thanks in
advance for your cooperation! :)
Please note that any transactions are independent
of this blog.
(Especially since you will be using
an outside listing/ auction
site like eBay or eCrater.) I have no
dealings or interactions with
any of the potential
communication, listings, or
transactions. :) Moreover, please limit
comments about items to swap/sell/share to the "Great
(Weekly) Exchange" posts. (Refer to "A Quick Note to J.Crew Aficionadas" post.)
Do
you have any
items you would like to
swap/sell/share among yourselves
through your outside listing/auction
site?
Sidenote: What's up with JCAs writing "sub" or "subscribing" as their comment?
It just means they are
subscribing to all the
comments (which are then automatically sent to
their email) in that
particular thread. This way they can
stay aware of all the comments
posted. :)

What is your opinion for the sequined skirt?
DeleteIt is lovely but runs large. I think the size 12 could fit a size 14. Similar to the online reviews.
DeleteOT: $50 in GAP Cash, expires today. Does not combine with the 40% off sale today so really only worth it if you want to buy exactly $100 worth of stuff.

Have a wonderful week everyone!!!!
OT- I really need to downsize my closet and wanted to branch out from eBay. Can anyone give me advice on other places to sell-- like Poshmark or Tradesy? Any experience with either? What's the difference? Seller fees same? TIA!
ReplyDeleteHi there peis, I think eBay would be better overall, imho. I have used both eBay and Poshmark but had better results with eBay. Poshmark required constant social interaction to get sales and their flat 20% off the top is higher than the eBay/PayPal combined fees of about 13%. I've never tried tradesy.
DeleteI tend to agree with you D*ska. I worry that Poshmark is clogging the access to eBay a bit - posing as a fashion marketplace rather than a larger, more generic eBay. But eBay is definitely the market leader for sellers and buyers both. Better policies, better system, wider variety.
DeleteDitto about eBay vs poshmark, though I've only bought on poshmark, not sold. I will mention for items I think would bring $12 or less on eBay, I did a clean out bag with Thredup (can order for free on their site). I sent in a huge bag of mostly my things plus a few kids items, and was pleased with getting a little over $90. You can get a Visa card or PayPal (pp option has a fee) after waiting two weeks once they've processed your bag. It took them 2-3 weeks to process my stuff.
DeleteI've bought from both eBay and Poshmark, and I've got a few things listed on Poshmark right now. As a buyer, I like Poshmark because it's easier to interact with the seller, and you can typically get a great feel for the item you're buying. As a seller, I'm annoyed by the insulting low offers I've received on some things, and I feel like people are more likely to abuse their ability to communicate with the seller to lower prices. The 20% fee Poshmark wants to take off the top is gross, but they're providing a large platform for me to sell something I might not otherwise sell at all, so I try to price thoughtfully.
DeleteI haven't sold on eBay before, but I buy often, as it's easy to save searches for what you want and see what's been newly listed. The resellers who mark up their J.Crew Clearance Store purchases make me irrationally angry, and since I primarily hunt for shoe deals, their listings with the black line through the heel (and location near the stores) make it obvious.
ThredUp makes it super easy to clear things out with them, but to echo Wendy's point, I wouldn't send them anything you think is worth more than about $10. I sent them a big bag of brand name stuff (J.Crew, Anthropologie, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Lucky Brand) and only got $20, but I like knowing that they donate what they don't intend to resell. ThredUp is horrible as a buyer, in my opinion, because their product photos are bad, you can't really interact with ThredUp with your questions on a garment, and their search functionality is REALLY lacking. They list things as "J.Crew silk top" instead of something like "J.Crew Blythe silk button down," so if you know what you're looking for specifically, you have a lot of work to do. I understand why they might not go to great lengths to track down specific product names, but it does work against them, I think.
I have sold on the trade market here, and it's my favorite way to sell/buy. This community's members are so respectful and easy to interact with! I treasure some of the things I picked up from you ladies 10 years ago, like my velvet schoolboy blazer I still wear regularly.
Thank you so much for all your input JCAs!! U guys are the best!
ReplyDeleteBc it's helpful to have photos sometimes, I've dedicated an IG channel to my closet sale items. Most are brand new or worn twice. I'm an XS, size 0, in clothes. Size 00/0 or 24/25 in pants and jeans. Might sell things in a size 26 waist. Size 6 in shoes. My IG names are maqsadcloset and sartorialchoices (fashion & reviews page). I'd be so chuffed if you check it out and follow me!
