Holiday Time {celebrating with J.Crew?}

First and foremost... Happy Holidays everyone! It's the time of year where we can spend time with our loved ones, enjoy fantastic meals, and share thoughtful gifts!

Per JCA tradition, this post is to find out what everyone is going to wear. I find it really interesting to see what other Aficionadas and Aficionados plan on wearing (and of course it gives me lots of wonderful ideas for future outfits). :) So for this post, what we are planning to wear for the Holidays? :)

What are you planning to wear this Holiday party season? Are you planning to go "head to toe" J.Crew or parts J.Crew?

  1. Unfortunately, I have to work today but I have on the Holly Fair Isle sweater in poppy hazelnut with the pajama shirt with red tipping and jeans and the matching fair isle scarf. I am also wearing my gold biella tassel loafers that I picked up at the clearance store last year for a festive touch. Talk about good quality shoes, these are awesome. It does make me realize that the quality on some of the newer shoes is also slipping, still beautiful but slipping. I will be traveling with the Doodle tomorrow so I can't wear really nice clothes because she lays right on my lap the whole time. However, it will be a J.Crew head to toe outfit as usual.

    1. DD, love that pairing of the holly sweater and pj top!

  2. I think I'll be wearing my J.Crew Stewart plaid button down with last year's lace pants and the gold ankle-strap Sadie flats for Christmas Eve lunch/Mass/dinner and evening activities. Christmas Day is pajama day but no J.Crew jammies for me this year - I have a really cute holiday set from Nordstrom I'll be wearing.

TBD on any other outfits but I'm sure there will be J.Crew in my post-holiday week and NYE/NYD!

    Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday!!

  3. A lot of J.Crew for me this weekend!
Christmas Eve church (morning): Wool-crepe 3/4 sleeve wool dress in vintage ivory with red suede pumps

Christmas Eve dinner with husband's family: Tartan embellished tee (I believe it was from last year?) with cuffed point sur jeans, lady braided trim coat, and glitter scalloped heels

Christmas brunch with my family - Lace reindeer tee, jeans, red tartan obi-bow heels, black petal crystal earrings. Possibly with the Harlow cardigan in black

I hope everyone has a blessed and peaceful holiday weekend!

  4. Pleated A Line Dress in black and Scalloped Heels in Festive Plaid w a statement necklace for midnight mass tomorrow, PJ pants in buffalo check and gray cashmere tee (old) for Christmas Day. Today we are making gingerbread houses and I am wearing Point Sur denim with my favorite snowflake tee from a few seasons ago.

Happy Holidays to Alexis and all JCAs!

  6. Excited to wear the yeti pajama set from last year all day Sunday! Probably buffalo plaid from Madewell on Saturday. I'm still recovering from a knee injury, so no fun shoes until it's healed.

  7. I am taking it one day at a time. But for today, which is a work day for me, I am wearing the fringey tweed lace top in black, black wool school boy blazer, multistrand pearls, jeans and the martina wedges in patent leopard print. I also am wearing the plaid pom pom scarf from last year with a black wool overcoat that is about 10 years old that I got from Banana Republic (can't believe the quality on this coat all these years later). Looking forward to a weekend of festivities and busting out all the festive plaids from jcrew! Happy Holidays to everyone!

    1. Lol, vintage Banana Republic - which a decade-old coat would qualify - is remarkable in its quality compared to the sad state of affairs going on there right now. I have a closet still filled with Italian-made suits, shoes made in Italy, and belts made in England that have stood the test of time. You'd never know that stuff was from Banana. Merry Christmas everyone..

    2. I remember when BR was the height of extravagance for me (JCrew only came to town about 1.5 yrs ago). I remember agonizing over a black dress for my 40th birthday party (8yrs ago), and I think at the time it was the second-most expensive dress in my closet. I still have it, it's a classic.

    3. Vintage Banana-hard to beat it! In my early twenties, I could drop my whole paycheck at Banana, and feel so stylish. I didn't know or worry about quality back then, but their clothes always washed and wore effortlessly. I miss it. I wish Banana had gone 'all in' when they hired Marissa, and put the quality materials together with her designs. I think it would have been a lot more successful.

    4. The fall of BR has been stunning. I also used to do most of my shopping at BR as Jcrew is a fairly recent arrival in Vancouver. I have 3 BR wool suits that are now 10 years old and they are still in amazing shape. Fully lined wool suit pants, lovely drape to the fabric...Oh how I miss those days.

    6. Chiming in to bemoan the fall of Banana. I, too, am a Banana refugee and only turned to J Crew within the past few years. Over the years, I've donated beautiful vintage BR pieces, only because they no longer fit, but I fondly remember a pair of herringbone LINED trousers, 90% wool coat, etc. What's strange about their fall is that their men's department continues to be great (we're actually here now, shopping for my husband!) So disappointing.

  8. Plaid wool boys Ludlow/Thomspon blazer for me, plus nearly-matching-but-goes-with plaid perfect shirt, and skinny jeans tonight for family dinner. Christmas Eve is likely coral pleated skirt with dark mint Tippi and lots of fun jewelry. Christmas Day church and other family dinner will be sparkly peachy crewneck sweater (forgot name) with black harlows and heels.
    Happy Holidays JCAs!!!

  9. Ack, I have no idea what I'm wearing. Hoping to include my colorblock maryjane pumps at least for Christmas Eve, which is more of our tradition, whereas Christmas Day is more laid back, and we are including Hanukkah as well this year.

  10. I'll be spending Christmas Day with my immediate family, so I'll probably be in my Christmas Lights pajamas (re-released by Factory this year) for a good part of the day! Christmas Eve is reserved for my best tartan :) Merry Christmas all!

  12. the Crewcuts boys' mullered moose Christmas tee! this is the one where the moose has gotten his antlers tangled in Christmas lights and is Lit. And yes, it's really a moose, not a reindeer, when I ordered it I called a JC store in Maine, where they know about these things, and the delightful lady who picks up the phone assured me (1) moose, no question, and (2) no idea why The Copywriter from Space called it a reindeer. Merry Christmas Happy Hanukkah and joyful Kwanza to all!

    1. Drunk Moose tee, I call it WFF. Best tee ever! Wearing it today with bright yellow cords to cheer me on the last round of baking and errands.
Tomorrow, Stewart plaid shirt with sparkly necklace, black skirt and Madewell black suede block heel Mary Janes.
Happy Holidays to all. Love reading everyone's outfits. Vicariously enjoying the various outfits with the sequin skirt. Nowhere that dressy to go this year, so couldn't justify it.

  13. For Christmas morning I'll wear a pair of the vintage pj sets (love). I wanted to get the plaid flannel pair this year but they sold out online and at my closest store. For family dinner probably my Stewart plaid shirt, lookout jeans and a nice necklace. I wanted to try to wear my green lace pencil skirt again (wore to husbands Xmas party) but I think everyone else will be more casual.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays to everyone! Have a beautiful holiday and thank you Alexis for this wonderful blog!

  15. I just received the JC Velvet Cami in Amber. It is a beautiful piece and I can't wait to wear it. I might pair it with an ivory wool open cardigan from Anthropologie, a statement necklace, and skinny jeans. I hope to get this cami in blue for NYE. For Christmas morning I will be wearing factory red PJ pants with penguins. Thanks for sharing everyone. Happy holidays

  16. Absolutely love reading about everyone's outfit plans! I'm hosting Christmas Eve dinner so I think I'll wear the Metallic Gold with Navy dress from last winter (forget its official name). For Christmas, I'll wear the reindeer tee and a pair of Matchstick jeans. I just picked up a Harlow cardi in the cabernet color - I don't wear cardigans often so I never paid attention to this item when it debuted, but I quite like it and ended up ordering two other colors online.

Anyway, happy holidays to Alexis and this lovely little JCA community! Hope everyone had a relaxing and wonderful time!

    1. I have the Thomas Mason Stewart plaid shirt and Those pants. What shoes? I like those pants with flats but not heels.

    2. Suz Has, you could wear your glittery Collin loafers ;) So festive!

    3. Suz - (looking through your IG feed at some of your shoes)) what about your red Gemma flats or the white/black cap toe flats? I personally like the pointed toe flats with the flared jeans but of course go with what works for you.

    4. I wanted to wear my colorblock pumps so I'll try that. May not work with the pants but I love it with my shirt. ;)
I bought my mom the glitter loafers for Xmas and she LOVES so I'm hoping she wears them today. My sister bought the colorblock too and I thought it would be funny if we both wore them. When I gave my mom the shoes my sister loved and asked if they were still available. I'm so happy I got so lucky that my mom complimented them and like magic they popped back right after, meant to be!

    5. The colorblock pumps will look great! Especially with the cropped jeans. Funny story about the Collins loafers. I bought them after I saw them on you but then I was undecided so I returned them. I kept thinking about them though. Well, I went back to my store a week or so later and they were still there (and sale items were an extra 50% off, so they were cheaper than when I bought them the first time). So, I bought them again...haha.

    6. Funny! I paid the same in Dec as I did over the summer!

    7. And I'm thinking I may actually wear my wide leg wool pants that I cropped. My girls hate them but they were shown last year with the Stewart plaid and a white bow tie. I think I'll wear mine (slightly different pattern) with A statement necklace and my colorblock pumps.

  21. Buon Natale from Rome!
My closet still protects all my "vintage" BR, cashmere included.
These clothes are almost older than me, but still perfect.
I think that Mike was there, any idea who was the designer?
    Happy Holydays.

Happy Holiday Alexis and to all JCA's!

  24. I'll be wearing the vintage red plaid boyfriend shirt, factory skinny jeans, and white Tretorn sneakers. Happy holidays and have a wonderful weekend!

  25. I'm pairing my new Factory Lace Pants with an oldie but goodie - the plaid silk taffeta Eliza top circa 2010 (I took the beads off of it years ago after Gigi suggested it on her blog).
Here's hoping 2017 yields more of these classics!
