ReplyDelete(blue/red) I can't do tippi's. does anyone know off hand what J Crew's matching blue colour is? or a close one to the red? I may have to return it as....I am at a loss of what besides a plain white shirt. thanks in advance.
It looks so pretty with the light blue in the pic on the website. I tend to do match matchy but I think in this case not matching the exact color of the skirt might work better because overall, the combo of red and blue makes it almost appear purple.
DeleteI would like chambray with this but I don't know the look you are going for, maybe tie a sweater around your shoulders in either red or navy? I think it might add some color. You could even do that with a white shirt to add some interest. I think some great statement earrings would look pretty with the more casual shirts and the dressier skirt. I love that skirt, pretty pattern and colors.
DeleteOh and throw on some leopard calf hair pumps if you have some. I think that would look insane with the skirt and chambray.

Deletethank you....I wish I could commit to the PJ top look...but I feel just to "not me" any idea which colors in the light wool cardi would be close...I ordered the matching small purse...I feel pretty good in the matchy matchy. I just can't bring myself to let go and get too out of my comfort zone. but am willing to try...
DeleteWhat about the tie neck top in silk? I know there was a red, I think a blue also. That might look pretty. The lightweight wool Jackie cards comes in bright cerise and Brunswick blue. I'd try both.

DeleteOn the casual side try a graphic tee (Rome would look amazing!) and leopard flats. For more sophisticated try a blue stripe button down and red shoes. I also really love the chambray idea too. And I think it would look great with a white button down and jean jacket and blue stripe gemmas

DeleteI think light pink could work with this skirt - and I agree with chambray or an oxford blue button down if you can't swing the pj top look.
DeleteI think you could do the Friday tee paired with a Jackie or denim jacket and leopard flats or heels. The plain white shirt with the blue bib necklace currently on the Web would also work.
DeleteCan anyone compare the heels of the Glitter scallop to the Sophia Sequin pump? I know the height difference is about an inch. Both will work with jeans/pants but I tend to find the height of the glitter scallop not to work well with skirts for me.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely need some help in the next few days trying which shoes to keep. I need any opinions/feedback etc...I have managed to order all of the fringed heels, colorblock coral rose (f7990), snakeskin deep jade and the solid navy suede. They popped back and got them all for 50% off sale price. Does anyone have these? Outfit ideas for the snakeskin and suede colorblock? Quality or fit of the shoes? I ordered my true size 8.
ReplyDeleteThe only ones I can see online are the colorblock coral rose ones so it's hard to compare. I think you'd be able to do the most with the navy, although sometimes navy is hard to match up in an outfit. I'm not a big fan of snakeskin in general so my vote would be the pink or navy. I wouldn't know how to style snakeskin, takes too much brain power lol. Good luck, glad you have choices in all the ones you like!
DeleteI loved the coral rose colorblock shoes, but found them extremely large, sized down from my usual JC size of 8 ½ to 8 to 7 ½, still left the shoes behind when I stood up and walked. Returned all 3 pairs.
DeletePersonally, I think the coral ones would be the keeper for me. I don't love the color combo of the snakeskin ones and the navy is fine but loses some of the design since it's monochromatic. The coral/rose/brown is bright but not over the top. Would transform jeans and a white button down into something special, etc.
DeleteI was also going to add that I think they run very big. My sister got the scallop ones and the 8.5 was falling off my feet. I just ordered them in an 8. For reference I had to take the Lena and the satin colorblock in a 9 but I'm an 8.5 in most other J.Crew shoes, especially pointy ones.
DeleteI read they ran large but I am hoping they do fit. I would rather have a little long than too short. I can put a half insole if necessary. We'll see and thanks for all the input. Sometimes I can wear an 8.5 so I really hope the 8 works, I just couldn't bring myself to order the 7.5 for fear of being just too small and not being able to do anything about it. I will keep you all posted.
Deletefor the snakeskin, I paired it with the snake printed pencil skirt and a cream silk blouse form seasons back. Also worn them with black jeans and orange tippi; as well as all white outfits with a burgundy bag. Think you can really play with the pair and maybe use it as neutrals to complete your outfits.

ReplyDeleteOk JCAs - I bought the tartan wool Marties right when they were released... and never wore them. Is it possible to wear these pants into January / February without looking ridiculous? I couldn't even come up with any good outfit ideas for holiday looks, hence why they remain hanging up, tags on, unworn. Sad trombone.
ReplyDeleteI never wore my Christmas plaid shoes for the same reason, so cute on everyone else but couldn't get inspired and now it is too late I am afraid...Yikes!!! Oh well, there is always next year.

DeleteI have last year's Black Stewart pants, too, and I'm planning to wear them at least for the first two weeks of January, with simple black tops and my short black pearls, nothing glitzy.

They didn't fit me well so I had to return - but my plan was to go mod or sort of British influence with them. Was thinking black turtlenecks and something edgy? They seemed like they had non holiday potential.

DeleteTaylor, I think you can squeeze a few more weeks out of these pants. I wore mine a few times - both times with red flats, once with a grey turtleneck poncho and once with a black turtleneck and black velvet blazer. I think keeping your shoes/top in the more neutral range can add some time on to these pants!
DeleteI just ordered the Sequin mini skirt (F7872) from factory. Final sale so I'm keeping my fingers crossed the garment measurements I got were accurate... Anyway... Would love to hear any reviews and ideas for styling for more everyday wearing (as opposed to party styling)

I wear mine with tee shirts and a denim jacket. I wore the longer sequined pencil skirt with a chambray shirt and a fair isle sweater for a casual party. I think a cozy sweater and tights and boots are an option. I love wearing sparkly stuff all year!
DeleteI've done a monochromatic gray outfit to tone down the bling and make it more casual. Try a gray tissue turtleneck,cashmere tee,or sweatshirt.

DeleteI would appreciate some advice. I have been searching (and searching) for a shorter (to wear over sheath dresses) white/ivory cardigan that is not too sheer. I've tried the wool Jackie in ivory, but when I wear it over a striped top, the stripes are quite apparent. If I wear it over a dark coloured t-shirt, the transition from the shirt to my arm is clearly visible. I don't know why, but this really bothers me. (Slightly silly, possible insane.) I've eliminated (perhaps rashly?) the cotton Jackie because (at least in the past) I found that the arms tighter than the wool version. Would the featherweight cashmere in ivory be more opaque? Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren and Black Hydrangea. Those are very good leads. I will have to check Madewell and Boden out the next time I visit the States. I think Madewell does deliver to Canada but there are no stores so returns are pricey and complicated and I am not even sure I can order from Boden. Having checked the websites out, I am very envious of those of you who can order easily from them! Will definitely have to keep my eye on them and hope they come to Canada. Thanks again.
