J.Crew Store Location Series {San Francisco}

*Image above is from Paperless Post, found through NYC Recessonista's post

A big "thanks!" to GigiOfCa {of the delightful Gigi's Gone Shopping blog} who came up with a brilliant suggestion for a series of post: a city guide where JCAs can suggest which J.Crews to shop at.

This post will focus on San Francisco, California! With so many stores in the area, it might be too much to visit them all. So if you are a local, or a knowledgeable tourist, please share what stores a fellow JCA has to visit!

Feel free to share other tidbits of advice. For example... What are your top three spots? Are there certain stores that should be avoided at certain times of the day/ week? Are there stores that have a better selection than others? Which stores have the best sale offerings?

Which J.Crew brick & mortar (B&M) stores {in the San Fran area} should an out-of-towner shop at? Which stores should be avoided? Please share! :)

  1. I highly recommend the flagship store in the Westfield Mall. The staff is so professional and nice. The store even has on line only items. Great selection overall. Same is true for the Palo Alto store which is 30 minutes south on 101 (w/o traffic). You can get a Sprinles cupcake after your J. Crew purchase!

  2. I really like the Valley Fair Store in San Jose. I love that they have their own entrance so I can just pop in and out of the store, with out having to set foot in the mall. They have a great assortment of merchandise (Womens, Mens, Crewcuts plus shoes and bags), and friendly sales associates, but their sale section really ridiculously TINY.

  3. Seconding Wendy's recommendation. They recently expanded the Westfield location to be a flagship format - Men's, Women's, Crewcuts and Bridal. One of the largest and best stock I've seen in a while.

  4. The Palo Alto location always has great sales items!!! The SF store has a great selection of regular priced inventory, but the sale items go quickly.

  5. I like both the Palo Alto and Los Gatos locations. Although Los Gatos doesn't have a Crewcuts section, their sale section is good and their staff friendly. But I agree with SunshineTax, Palo Alto's sale section has great stuff. And the shopping center is beautiful - gorgeous flowers abound.

  6. The westfield location is closest to me and they are usually great (Stephanie C is awesome!). Stonestown sometimes has an okay sale selection. Burlingame is small - their sale selection was non-existent the last time I was there.

  7. In my experience, the sales prices are usually better at Stonestown than at Westfield SF. Recent example: I picked up a few pencil skirts at Stonestown for $30 and $35 (plus 30% off), and I noticed the same skirts were still $50 and $70 (plus 40% off) at Westfield a few weeks later.

  8. Here's another vote for Los Gatos! Even if their inventory is smaller, their sale section is better and they have very helpful sales associates that will help you find items.

The Palo Alto store is beautiful, as they just remodeled, with a very large selection.

I actually am not a huge fan of Valley Fair, as even with full price items, they run out of smaller sizes quickly and sometimes that store is so crazy busy their sales associates are totally overwhelmed. As a result, I have found them unhelpful/givers of questionable advice.

  9. I love the Vally Fair store in San Jose. The sales associates are very helpful. I have one I've been working with for several years, Elaine, and I can email her, and she will put things on hold for me, or find them at other stores. She has found me things that are no longer available at the local store or website, and I never need to go to the mall. The other sales associates are always helpful, too. I like Los Gatos, and although it is smaller, it has a nice location and selection of items. I'm looking forward visiting the remodeled Palo Alto store, because they have more items than Valley Fair, but their service is lacking.

  10. Do any other bay area locals know when the J Crew Factory store is set to open in Milpitas?

  11. Palo Alto JCA's -- is there anything left in the sale section of Stanford's J.Crew? Still 30% off?

  12. I will be back to add more about our local J Crew's. Just wanted to let the locals know the Paragon Outlets are scheduled to open on Nov 8, 2012. There will be a J Crew Factory Store! Woo hoo :)

  13. Surprised no one's mentioned the Corte Madera location in Marin County! It's right across the Golden Gate Bridge; they have the best selection and frequently carry my size! :) Kate Spade, Anthropologie, True Religion, and Nordstrom is right around the corner. :)

  14. I just discovered the Corte Madera location this weekend. Good sized store with Crew Cuts and Mens sections as well as Womens shoes. The sale section was pretty good too. Customer service was great. My husband and I each had a SA helping us find what we needed but not too clingy. The shopping center also has a Madewell store which is a bonus to the other stores mentioned above.
