Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. While at my local J. Crew in Chicago the cashier tipped me off that all sale items would be given an extra 30% starting tomorrow (Friday, 22 April). I don't know if this is at every J.Crew, or of how long, but she let me put a pile of items on hold to collect first thing in the morning!

  3. I won't be going this weekend 'cause I went yesterday, but the sale section looked like it was about to explode. They really need a % off to clear out the merchandise - especially the rack of silk pocket tanks that hasn't moved in weeks. See, this is where it would make sense to ship all this stuff to the 'Crewlet - instead of producing exact replicas for it. They just came out with a silk pocket Factory tank... the mind boggles!

    ReplyDelete
  4. silver lining: they should just mark down the stuff that has been hanging around already to move it. the same tanks are there week after week, obviously not selling at the marked price.
    ,
However I have to go to the Apple store (iphone battery question) so I will stop at JC and see if the sale stuff is add'l off

  5. I have a very busy weekend, so I doubt I'll have time for a trip to the mall. I'm looking forward to hearing what the JCAs that are able to go think of the new arrivals though.

I also agree with silver_lining that the sale items should be going to the crewlets instead of them constantly making replicas of previous year's items.

  6. will be following, though splurged recently at Talbots

  7. I was wondering if you were going to post on what people are wearing for this weekend- it always gets my creative juices flowing a little better! Thanks!

  8. need to return a pair of Coddingtons - they do run a bit smaller in the toe box in my normal Jcrew size. love the style and look though

    ReplyDelete
  9. Lara, can I ask you which Chicago store you were at? Hoping you mean North Michigan Ave.

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wooooooooo if what Lara says is true, I will most definitely be stopping in to poke around in the sale section and inspect some new arrivals today ... have to go to the mall anyway to buy a birthday gift for someone. Will report back if anything is noteworthy!

  11. Yes, I am stuck on town 2 hours from J Crew, please post sale notices!

Also, if anyone sees a Lunette mini in Melon size 0 or 2, can you hold it for me and let me know?

    Thank you so much! :-D

  12. My store is not doing an extra 30% off sale items, so I only briefly picked through. Same old, same old.

But...I hope everyone is sitting down...I actually paid FULL PRICE for something today. Which I maybe do once a year. I'm not proud of it, but it is noteworthy.

I just could not resist the charms of the Casbah-print perfect shirt. The colors and the print, so saturated and gorgeous ...I was powerless. LOVE LOVE LOVE and my PS said nearly all the pieces in that print had sold out in less than 2 days. There were I think 2 dresses left, none of the short-sleeved blouse, and one each of the perfect shirts in a few teeny sizes (0/2) and a few larger sizes (10/12).

    **dreamy sighs**

  13. Sub :)
and a belated thank you, Alexis and others, who answered my question last week about B&M sales!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Good news: My B&M at Lake Grove, NY is having 30% additional off.

Bad news: Same old merch that's been lingering for a while....

EXCEPT for the Schoolboy blazer in madras, which is $99 + 30% off (still FP online). The material seems more stiff than I would imagine, though, so it stayed. But anyone who's coveting that may want to give them a call.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Called the Copley store and they have 30% off sale too. She did say it was final sale. Will be heading over after work!

  16. I have a possibly related question I was hoping you gals with a lot of J Crew experience could answer:

I purchased online the sun-drenched sweatshirt on Monday. It is not in stock and is expected to ship May 30. So my card, including the $10.50 shipping, has not been charged yet.

Fast forward a few days, now there is Free Shipping! It is not applicable to prior purchases.

My question is: can I cancel my earlier order, then re-order with Free Shipping? Any help here would be great. Thanks in advance! :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi Faith - you sure can. Just give CS a call and they'll cancel your backorder.

    ReplyDelete
  18. add'l 30% here in NJ (FS)

    very busy sale section

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have a return to make, so I'll be stopping in. Looking forward to checking out the new arrivals. Not holding out much hope for the sale section, but who knows. :) Last week, I picked up the Bonfire Cardi for $14 and the sundrenched sweatshirt for $25, so I was pretty pleased with that. Love both those pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  20. boo! why no extra 30 off for us?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Stopped in the store today only to get the new catalog. Eyed a bunch of the new items and skimmed the sale, which was an add'l 30%. Same boring stuff I didn't want last week.

Ended up getting the daisy skirt in ivory over at Talbots since it was part of their 50% off spring sale. Still pricey for me since I have no reason to continue acquiring pencil skirts other than they're pretty, LOL.

  23. Elaine, I think I am going to cave for the Casbah paisley perfect shirt too. Normally I am not attracted to the silk-cotton blend shirts but this one scream summer and I think it is a better investment than the tunic, that I would only wear at the beach or on vacation.

Does anybody know if the marled lace-up hoodie went finally on sale? I ended up buying it FP last Monday because I want to wear it (duh! That's why we buy clothes, I guess) but I am still in the window for a price adjustment. TIA!

  25. Elaine- I"m laughing at your comment as I paid FP also this morning on, sit down for this .... a belt. But I went all summer coveting their denim belt that they styled with everything last summer, and never bought it as I thought it was too much for a belt. Well, this year, yes $48 is a lot for just a little belt, but at least I have a the Retro belt for spring and summer in the color I like.

  27. Alas no 30% at Crabtree - Elaine did you go to S. Point?

Tired sale section anyway so wouldn't have mattered.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Marymoo, I went to Crabtree. Sorry, should have specified!

@Ema, the colors just LEAP out at you before you even walk in. So lovely.

Apropos of the weekend, the store window had the most darling display with boxes and boxes of Marshmallow Peeps!

    ReplyDelete
  29. If you are near a factory store their Jackies are half price....spring colors too.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I dashed into the store to grab a catalog, but I had my kids w/me, so I didn't have time to look around much. i saw lots though and am hoping to get back tomorrow sans kiddos for a good long look. I wish I had my rewards card already so I could use it. Also, it's 30% off in the sale section, but it looked like the same old/same old to me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just heard from my father that he is coming up next weekend so I placed a really big order today - paid full price (which I normally don't do) but the savings in terms of the shipping and the duty more than make up for it. I ordered the Classic Café capris in two different colours, the new Playa linen skirt in yellow and the crushed glitter wedges, which seem to be selling out. I took a gamble and sized up one half size on the wedges because for the last couple pairs of shoes I have ordered from J. Crew, my usual 7.5 has been slightly too small. Anyway, fingers crossed that I made the right choice because having to exchange is a PIA. I might order a few more things - my dad will think I am nuts! - but I've got my eyeball on a couple other pairs of sandals.

Off topic, I'm running a giveaway event - I'm inviting all JCAs to check it out here! I

  32. Anyone have any idea what "releasable" means in order status. Not "released" but releasable". Snagged two really great popbacks yesterday, but have never seen that status before and am afraid it means something bad. Chatted with a customer service rep, but they did not know either.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have never seen 'releasable' as an order status. Hmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Saw the Caroline dress in store today and the cut and fit are even better than I'd thought they would be. The one caveat is that the "faded black" really does look faded. It's also pretty structured, not quite as casual as it looks on the website.

I was also impressed with the Beatrice blouse. The olive isn't my color, but that antique white is so pretty...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sale is extra 30% off in Lake Forest, IL. Picked over but some jeans and dresses worth a look ... I got a pair of Boot Cut Jeans in Dance Off Wash for 20.99, still 108.00 online. Was actually reminded by SA that it's FINAL SALE.

I also paid full price for the first time in years ... for the Teaberry Perfect Shirt. I just fell in love with the print. Loved the Casbah too but as mentioned earlier, there were only larger sizes left, and it's a bit too green for my coloring.

    ReplyDelete
  36. @jenn_brak -- one of my orders is releasable. It's one that been backordered and supposed to ship this summer. (I knew it was backordered when I bought it... not J Crew's fault!)

  38. @Ema. The marled lace up sweatshirt wasn't on sale. I bought one too - with the 20% off promo - I love it! Will probably buy another when it finally goes on sale :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. shopalot, I wasn't really in Chicago, but in the Skokie location at Old Orchard Mall. I'd LOVE it if the downtown location went on sale, too, but I always seem to find better deals (though maybe not better selection) in the suburbs.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The Gateway store in SLC had an extra 30% off sale also... got the Caspia dress for $35 after the discount. SCORE.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Elaine,

I swear I NEVER find anything at the local JCrew stores here. Everything I want is always sold out or the store is so small they don't carry the items I am looking for and it is a wasted trip. I either order online or just dont' go anymore. I never had that problem with 2larger stores and one smaller one that I went to in MN--even at Mall of America with heavy traffic. Maybe it is a sign of the times that they don't carry much stock anymore but I find JCrew stores here in NC very frustrating to shop at. Like Nicole I am having great luck at Talbots. Bought all my winter clothes there this year.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Rosie and Elaine - Thanks for your replies. I received the shipped email last night. So glad. Got the multisse sequined tank (not sure about the colors) and the Swinton sequined cardi in the brown which I have wanted forever. So, So excited they shipped, just wish I would have gotten an add'l percent off too. That would have been pefection!

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Genny, I am with you.....one very small near me in the va beach area......it never seems to have the assortment I read about here. Very disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just thought I'd mention that DL is 2/3 of the way towards achieving one of his stated goals. Check out item no. 39870. Oh, do.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh my gosh, WFF!! That makes me a bit ill.

    ReplyDelete
  46. One of the many products I am not going to a mall store to buy, WFF. Seriously, what are they thinking? I want shirts and sweaters that don't die after one wearing not products like that.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ugh, is this a glimpse into the "new" JC?

    ReplyDelete
  48. @wff that is ridiculous. Carried by the queen herself. What else to expect from the merchant prince?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Small Jcrew miracle for me last night. Popped into the store, they actually had what I was looking for, item was fab, fit, and I bought it full price. It's been a year, year and a half since I bought anything more than a factory scarf. Hopefully JC is on the up swing!
Anyway, bought the Camille wedges. They are gorgeous on the foot. The leather is soft and the footbed is padded! Praying that they are as comfy to wear as I think they will be

    ReplyDelete
  50. well, anyway, just because items sometimes vanish from the JC website with unexplained speed, I've preserved the item and the charming copy here.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Karen,

Glad to know it is just not me as well! Wish we could both have good stores with a good selection.

    ReplyDelete
  52. So if I buy that umbrella I will feel closer to royalty, somehow? :)

I am planning to hit the outlet store in Vegas on Sunday. The regular retail store is closed, I found out.

    ReplyDelete
  53. The higher prices aren't in our heads...

    ReplyDelete
  54. Willow Grove, PA is having 30% final sale. The Casbah print is mesmerizing in person as many of you have said, I may break down and get the perfect shirt full price. I doubt it will make it long enough to be on sale. I would also love to see a pencil skirt or dress in that print. I tried on the stripe swingtime sweater, the swoop tee and the marled sweatshirt tee. All three were great, but run large (on purpose).

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sorry OT - Penny are you in/near Charlotte? I see that there is a Talbots clearance center there. Didn't know if it was worth stopping in.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Extra 30% at my b&m. Only sale item bought was a tee for my nephew. Women's was too picked over. Would have bought another downtown skinny, but they didn't have my size.

Bought the scout in butter - thanks, JC, for bringing back this pant color! :) Also ordered the short sleeve chambray shirt. My PS said I was the 3rd to ask for it. Wonder why JC didn't send it to all b&m's? Liked the swoop tee (size down) and will get one on sale or promo. LOVED the beatrice blouse (size down) and will get it at first price cut. The casbah perfect shirt is a beauty, but my size doesn't fit me in the chest. If it sticks around for a good sale (and probably won't), I'll pick one up to wear as a "cardi." My b&m still had plenty, but only 3 dresses. Love the african violet and university purple colors, but the popover didn't fit and the tee was sheer right at my chest. :( I like the idea of the stripe swingtime sweater (size down), but it made me look pregnant. :( Maybe it didn't work because it hung straight down from my chest. Like the back zip tank, but my b&m only had desert pink which is a horrid color for me. LOVE the asymetrical cardi and will definitely get one (or maybe two!), but since the knit cardis seem to linger to sale, I'll wait. Plus it's already too hot to be thinking about wearing them.

Crewcuts new arrivals will be in next week.

    ReplyDelete
  57. StaciStaci-thx for the article link. What are we to do? Not happy about the quality, sheerness, and poor construction already with J Crew shirts, tees, sweaters - which I don't buy. Not worth the money as is, and then to be charged more come next year? How high can clothes go? At a mall store, not talking shopbop here. I haven't shopped at Gap etc. because the quality of their clothes has gotten so horrible. I feel a revolution coming on...

    ReplyDelete
  58. @math teacher I am so disappointed to hear the casbah perfect shirt is small in the chest. I ordered it in my usual perfect shirt size yesterday and there usually isn't any extra room in the chest but if I SU it's way too big everywhere else. Maybe I'll order it a SU since the freeship promo is still on and see if I can make it work. I love the print and they are all gone is the larger sizes at my store.

Picked up the Belmarin pant for $19.99 - 30% off. CS mentioned that she paid FP for them when they first came out. These are not super flattering but I like the linen/cotton fabric blend and the price.

    ReplyDelete
  59. HI Rose: I just called our Vegas Retail store and they will be open today and Sunday. They are located at Town Square on the South End of the LV Strip. They have regular hours on Sunday, 11 am to 8 pm. It is very pretty over there. It is an outside "mall" and there are many restaurants and stores. The Blue Martini seems to be a busy place. :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. WFF: What nonsense about that umbrella. Maybe this is J.Crew's way of saying if you want "meticulous construction" you need to pay tons of money for it. Seriously, a $500 umbrella ?????

    ReplyDelete
  61. Captain Crew, I'm a 36C and somewhat broad shouldered. I usually stay away from the perfect shirts, but this one was to pretty to resist. I could tape myself in and be okay, but I hate that. It fit everywhere else, though. It was hard to leave there, but I hate that gap! I hope yours works for you as it really is beautiful. I plan to order the short sleeve blouse once it goes on sale. (Or at least as long as I can resist that print :D)

    ReplyDelete
  62. WFF: Ouch, that is one heavy umbrella if it "gives you the feeling of holding hundreds of years of history in your hands...". At least it is cheaper than the plumage mini which has dropped in price to $599?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I just want to share with the fellow New Yorkers that starting April 1st there is no sales tax on clothes and footwear below $55 in NYC. I hadn't noticed until this past Thursday when I placed a small order under $30 thanks to the WARMUP code. I was very confused when I paid the sales tax on the perfect paisley shirt yesterday (I thought that it would apply to items below $110 as before), but not on a Loft pair of cheap flip flops, so I investigated. I apologize to those who are not directly concerned by this.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Popped into the Durham store this evening and found the gray bonfire cardi in my size, marked down to $19.99 ... then took another 30% off. I almost fainted -- since I bought the brown one I've been wanting the other color. I couldn't get to the register fast enough!

Also got the knit du jour pants, which I found to run TTS on me. Those are some damn comfy sweats! They do show every lump and bump in the thigh/butt area though, so be forewarned. :)

Picked up several pair of socks/anklets that were all marked down to about $2.50 before discount, and a pair of tights and a belt. Oh and a big daddy lou's tee, which I'd tried on once before but left behind at $24.99. I liked it a lot better for $9.99 today. :D

Slightly ot, at last I snagged a crystal pearl & pastiche necklace off of eBay and I knew before I even opened the box that this was a real one and not the outlet fakery. Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  65. @CaptainCrew, I have noticed in the past year or so that the perfect shirts seem to have gotten a little smaller through the chest/back area. My guess is it's to make them more fitted? I've been fitting into a lot of 6's lately but stuck with an 8 for the Casbah top and am glad I did. Iy definitely will not make it to final sale, that's for sure!

I tried on the belmarin pant a few weeks ago and liked it a lot, very soft and comfy! They're like hangout/kicking around pants.

I didn't buy at that time because the price wasn't where I wanted it to be ... I always have good intentions about buying chino/khaki pants, then I never end up wearing them. I think you got a great deal!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Forgot: I also saw the Jane dress in my local B&M, and wanted to share that it's "Lyocell," which to me felt a bit different than "silk twill," as they say on the website. Also something to keep in mind -- the fabric is ridged, almost like cordoroy. The ridges are more noticeable IRL than on the site.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I was just reading some info on the BBC web site about lyocell, one of the disadvantages is pilling (they call it fibrillation). Pills on a sweater are usually pretty easy to remove, I doubt pills on tightly woven fabric are.

    ReplyDelete
  68. They should totally change the description of the Jane dress if it is Lyocell! Like the "silk" tulle fineline cami that was actually nylon. I also noticed that a lot of the new skirts do not have length identified in the description.

    ReplyDelete
  69. well, I'm glad to hear it's not just me that finds the perfect shirts too snug across the chest. They fit everywhere except across the boobs on me, and it's a bummer, b/c they don't look as good if I s/u on them. I just have to accept that it's not a good fit for me. Too bad, b/c I really wanted to get one in the new print, but I'm going to pass.

    ReplyDelete
  70. @silver lining I have the fineline cami and it is definitely silk and really nice silk at that. It's not tulle though so maybe you're referring to a different cami?

    ReplyDelete
  71. @math teacher & Elaine, thanks for the info on the perfect shirt. I ordered a SU just in case. Why the vanity sizing everywhere else and then make the perfect shirts smaller? Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sorry to be OT, wanted to mention that I received my May catalog yesterday, and there was a 20% off purchase coupon stitched in between pages 6 and 7, so be sure to check! Good online and in stores only through May 8.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Caille: Thanks for the info on the Jane dress. I had been considering it for the style and length. Lyocell is NOTHING LIKE silk-twill. Isn't that false advertising? I too fell for the fineline cami in tulle that was nylon and not silk and FS. ;(

    ReplyDelete
  74. In my experience the perfect shirts run TTS, however I do find that the dressier dresses always run small on me. I bought the Vivette dress which I am in love with, but I found that to be so tight around the torso. Anyone else have this experience?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Wahoo! Stepped into the downtown Seattle store this weekend and snatched up the last Tea-Stained Dobby Dress in XXS (I think?); was thoroughly grateful they even had any left. It managed to work on me though I know several other JCAs had trouble with it. Will put up a blog post on it (and resume blogging!) soon.

I also found some Katie Eyelet Camis on sale for $39.99, which was confusing as only the colorblock ones are on sale online. Alas they had a 0, but not a 00 in the yellow color I wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thanks opheliasmom for the info re: the coupon in the May catalog. I hope I get one, too. I want to use it for a couple of FP items I don't think will make it to sale prices.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Agree with comments about the fit of the perfect shirts - they don't gap at my chest but they also fit funky around the arm holes and pull funny.

J.Crew: PLEASE make more petite sizes in the long sleeve perfect shirts!

I tried on the linen perfect shirt (which does come in petite online).
There was a wonderful cypress/dark olive color which I found out later is store only. Hope it shows up on line in the near future.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Thanks Silver_Lining!

I called CS, cancelled my order, and reordered it that night. Saved me over $11. So worth it!
